Bruce Ian Foreman

09/13/2021 - 09:01 , by TKing09

Bruce Ian Foreman, 82, of San Angelo, Texas, died peacefully at his home Tuesday, September 7, 2021.

Bruce was born September 10, 1938, in Chicago, Illinois, to Maurice and Marcelle Foreman. He and his family relocated to Falls Church, Virginia. It was there that he and his younger brother helped his father clear their thickly wooded homestead property with only hand saws so their home could be constructed. He attended high school in Annandale, Virginia, where he enjoyed participating in the drama, chess, yearbook and photography clubs. After high school graduation, he studied engineering at Virginia Tech, before joining the United States Air Force.

While in the military, Bruce was selected to study Mandarin Chinese at the Institute of Far Eastern Languages at Yale University. His military enlistment with the Air Force Security Service took him to numerous locations throughout the United States, as well as foreign assignments including Korea, Japan, Okinawa, Vietnam, and Taiwan. After a distinguished military career, Bruce retired from the USAF in 1978 with twenty years of active-duty military service.

While stationed at Goodfellow AFB, Bruce met Marilynn Marshall, a student at Shannon School of Nursing; and they married in San Angelo in 1965. They raised two children and settled in San Angelo after Bruce’s retirement from the USAF. Upon retirement, Bruce owned and operated his own photography studio in San Angelo, earning a reputation as an accomplished portrait and wedding photographer. He later returned to civil service at Goodfellow AFB and served as a staff photographer until his civilian retirement in 2000.

Bruce was involved for many years in the Concho Valley Vietnam Veterans Association, San Angelo Gun Club, and the Concho Valley Photography Club, earning their Lifetime Achievement Award in 2017. His gift as a lifelong teacher was most recently expressed in working with others to learn and enjoy the art of photography - a craft he loved throughout his military career as well as his civilian life and a legacy that will live on through the many moments, people, and places he lovingly and expertly photographed.

Bruce was preceded in death by parents, Maurice and Marcelle Foreman; brother, Vance Foreman; and brother-in-law, Paul Zeek. He is survived by his wife, Marilynn Foreman, of San Angelo; daughter, Laura Washington, of San Angelo; son, Jeff Foreman, and wife, Julie, of Round Rock, Texas; sister, Marcella Palmer and husband, Fred, of Tallahassee, Florida; brother-in-law Steve Marshall, and wife Phyllis, of Odessa, Texas; sisters-in-law Phyllis Zeek, of Burleson, Texas, and Sue Bowers, of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and grandsons, Jason Foreman, of San Angelo, and Ethan Foreman, of Round Rock, Texas. Bruce is also survived by nieces and nephews, Scott Foreman, of Little Rock, Arkansas; Doug Shaffer, of Tallahassee, Florida; and Kelly Shaffer, of DeLand, Florida; and many extended family members, very special friends, and extremely kind neighbors.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorial contributions kindly be made in support of a favorite charity, especially one serving veterans or animal welfare.

Bruce was a fiercely devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a proud veteran. Although he retired from the Air Force, he continued to live by his oath of service – to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against enemies, foreign and domestic. He shared his kind, generous, and humorous spirit with others every day and taught by example, with his motto “Be a good American.”

A celebration of Bruce’s life will be held at a future date.

Muriel "Pan" Schrimpf

09/13/2021 - 08:58 , by TKing09

Muriel “Pan” Ann (Quinlan) Schrimpf, passed away peacefully on 09/07/2021 in San Angelo, Texas at the age of 92 surrounded by close family.

Muriel was born August 19, 1929 in Covington, Kentucky, to Robert and Eleanor (Riordan) Quinlan. She spent nearly all of her young life in Northern Kentucky and graduated with a degree in Sociology from Our Lady of Cincinnati College “Edgecliff”, (merged with Xavier University 1980). Muriel married Charles Frances Schrimpf on June 21, 1952 in Cincinnati, Ohio. They lived in various locations within the US while Charles was in the air force, medical school, and residency, but afterward settled in Dayton, Ohio. Muriel devoted her time and efforts to raising her family of five children there.
Muriel held a deep fondness for her extended Schrimpf family. She always loved their gatherings, referring to them as “such a fun bunch!” Muriel also enjoyed reconnecting and keeping in touch with the Riordan clan, particularly in her later years.

Muriel, or “Pan” as those close to her were familiar, strongly valued education and sought to convey its importance to her children and grandchildren throughout her life. When her family had grown, Pan launched her own retail store, The Petite Woman, which was in operation approximately ten years. After retiring, Pan continued to share her love of learning with many of her dear, like-minded friends by enthusiastically attending LLI (Lifelong Learning Institute) classes at the University of Dayton. Until her own physical challenges prohibited attendance, Pan regularly participated in Catholic worship services at the University of Dayton Chapel and very much cherished the spiritual guidance as well as fellowship she enjoyed there. As those closest to Pan may know, she felt a special devotion to the Blessed Mother, often prayerfully and spontaneously expressing gratitude in true Irish fashion. In her final years, Pan moved to San Angelo, Texas where her eldest daughter was located. The family is grateful for the members of Grace Presbyterian Chapel of San Angelo for embracing and ministering to Pan in her final years.

Muriel was preceded in death by her parents Eleanor and Robert Quinlan, her only sibling, Robert Quinlan, her husband, Charles Schrimpf, her son, Michael Schrimpf, her granddaughter, Ashley Schrimpf, and grandson, Ryan Schrimpf. She is survived by her children, Mark Schrimpf (Norma Jean), Frances Early (Thomas), Anita Leach (Donald), and Patricia Wallace (Michael); her grandchildren Adam Schrimpf (Katie), Aaron Schrimpf, Colin Early, Karen Early (Leah), Donald Leach III (Eileen), Demetrius Leach, DeeAnn Acton (David), Nicolette Wallace, Rachel Wallace, and Zachary Wallace; and numerous great-grandchildren.

A memorial service celebrating Pan’s life will be held later this fall with family and friends in Ohio.

Pan’s family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the many caretakers who conscientiously and lovingly looked after her daily needs during her final years. To the staff at both St. Leonard Retirement Community of Centerville, Ohio as well as those at The Crest at Baptist Retirement Community of San Angelo, Texas, we are forever grateful.

If you would like to give a memorial, the family requests that donations be made to Baptist Retirement Community in San Angelo, Texas, or University of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio.

Trinidad Dehoyos

09/10/2021 - 09:00 , by TKing09

Trinidad Lee "Big Pun" Leal Dehoyos, age 43 of San Angelo, Texas entered the gate of Heaven much too soon on September 6, 2021, in San Angelo.

Public viewing will be on Saturday, September 11 from 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM at Robert Massie Funeral Home and again on Sunday, September 12, 2021, from 12:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

Funeral services will be on Monday, September 13 at 10:00 AM in the Robert Massie Riverside Chapel with burial at Fairmount Cemetery. Arrangements are by Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Trinidad was born in San Angelo on July 21, 1978. He graduated Central High School. From high school age, he had a fascination with gambling... always thinking, he was going to hit it big on the next throw of the dice. He had a passion for working on Lowrider cars and belonged to the local car club "New Impressions" always bumping to rap music, 3 wheeling, working on car stereos, taking his kids fishing and he was one of the greatest all around cooks. He worked at several restaurants in town along his sister, including his favorite, Nacho's Restaurant. You must understand that Trini or Big Pun as he was better known by his friends, was a big presence in stature and personality. Everything he did was supersized... and that sometimes meant he had to take the good along with the bad of everyday decisions he made. And he did. He always looked towards to future and didn't get caught up in past mistakes and he encouraged others to do the same. He lived his life joyously and spread love and laughter everywhere he went. He never met a stranger, and he could BS with the best of them! Trinidad was the epitome of a big teddy bear. His family was the world to him, he loved being surrounded by them and he was acutely aware of the importance of family. He was loved by everyone, and for those left behind, there is BIG hole left in their hearts and lives.

Trinidad was preceded in death by his grandparents, Israel, and Anita Leal; a brother, Jose Reyes; an aunt, Genie Villanueva; and his uncles, John Leal, Israel David Leal Jr., and Amando Leal.
He is lovingly survived by his parents; Eddie and Delfie Flores; his children Trinidad Daryl Dehoyos, Ryan Orlando Dehoyos, Aryana Aleyna Dehoyos, Aaron Isaiah Dehoyos, Francisco Emilio Flores Dehoyos, and Mykayla Alizae Flores Dehoyos; his sister Debbie Cano and husband Leandro; his brothers, Anthony Valencia and his partner Krissten Diliberto, Eddie Flores Jr, and Rocky Flores and his wife Andrea; his partner in life, Martha Garza; his aunt Sandy Ontiveros and her husband Fred and Anita Leal; and by his nieces and nephews, Carlie, Ayven, Marcus, Adabella, Leandro, Jacob, Jacob, Alexis and Mason.

Henry Franklin "Frank" Owens

09/10/2021 - 08:48 , by TKing09

Henry Franklin “Frank” Owens, 79, of San Angelo went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, in San Angelo. Frank was born December 27, 1941, in Crawfordville, Georgia to William and Carrie Vandiver Owens. Frank grew up in Crawfordville and graduated from high school there. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served his country honorably for 4 years. Frank then went to work for the Southern Pacific Railroad company as a telegrapher clerk for many years, before moving to Fort Stockton and going into the petroleum industry. He became a gas plant operator for Valero and retired from there after 20 years of service. Frank met and later married the love of his life Sue Vaun Haynes and they shared 57 beautiful years together and raised two children. Frank was a loving husband, father and grandfather who devoted his life to his Savior and his family. He was a member of San Angelo Apostolic Church and loved his church family dearly. In his spare time, he collected coins, traced his family ancestry, and spent hours studying the bible. Frank had a natural ability to make people feel comfortable. He was generous and giving, quick to offer money or help others. He was a very organized person in all aspects of his life. He is deeply missed by his dog Bo Bo and their nightly peanut ritual.

He was best at being a grandpa though. Spending hours walking the creek, reading books, playing cards, and fishing. Things will not be the same without Pa to tell the boys to shut the barn door or to bring his tools back. Frank’s tremendous love and devotion to his Lord and his family will live on in our hearts forever and we will dearly miss him! He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Brian Dewayne Owens and his 4 sisters, Hattie Gilland, Belle Dingler, Linda Stevens and Laura Stevens. Frank is survived by his loving wife, Sue V. Beth Ann (Kruse) Horner

09/09/2021 - 06:32 , by TKing09

Beth Ann (Kruse) Horner of San Angelo, passed away suddenly of a heart attack on September 5, 2021, at the age of 67. She was born on September 2, 1954, to Robert and Latrelle Shirley Kruse in Lawton, Oklahoma. Beth entered Heaven as a countless number of fellow singers celebrated her arrival.

Beth Horner was the daughter of a preacher and although she was born in Oklahoma, she would tell everyone that she was a tried-and-true Texan. Beth grew up as the oldest of three children: having one sister, Kim Massey and one brother, Mark “Bubba” Kruse.

Beth graduated from Abilene Christian University (ACU) with a bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance and a minor in Vocal Performance. Later in life, Beth would also complete a master’s degree in Music Education from Stephen F Austin University.

On May 16, 1975, Beth married the love of her life, Bryan Horner, and in 1980, she gave birth to their first child. From that point forward, she devoted her life to raising her three children with Bryan. Beth cherished Bryan and always called him “Shug”. She loved their time together whether they were travelling the world, working on one of the many projects that Beth found for them to do together, or simply listening to a Wall football game on the radio at home. They also loved to work together at their ranch in Brownwood, Tx. It was Beth and her granddaughter Avalon that named the Ranch Horner Heritage Ranch. If you know Beth well, you know that driving the tractor at the ranch was one of her favorite joys and it never failed to put a huge smile on her face. She actively named many areas on the Ranch and made labels with her beautiful handwriting for as many parts as she could. Her children, grandchildren, and generations to come will always refer to the area with the biggest tree as the “Enchanted Forest”. Beth and Bryan exemplified what a Christian marriage should look like to all of those around them.

Besides family, music was Beth’s passion! In her younger years, she was actively involved in Mason High School and loved being in the band. She was proud of her time as a Hilltop singer at ACU and often talked about her time travelling in the summer of ‘1974 on a USO tour.

Beth spent 3 years teaching music and directing many musicals at the Immanual Baptist School in El Paso. She also spent 4 years directing the San Angelo Singing Girls Choir and 16 years as the Elementary music teacher for Wall, Texas. She loved her friends and students at Wall dearly. Beth loved teaching elementary students, and seeing the kid’s eyes light up with joy and excitement at hearing all kinds of music. She looked forward to drive your tractor to school day, and guessing when the first frost of the year was going to be. She was one of the few people who could honestly say that she loved her job!

Due to health reasons, Beth made the tough decision to retire from Wall in 2020. After powering through a quadruple bypass and multiple knee surgeries, Beth immediately heard another calling to share her love of music with the world. Recently, Beth was excited to be sharing her passion for music locally at the San Angelo Broadway Academy! In her short time there, she had a full schedule of eager children that loved learning from her. Beth’s passion and enthusiasm was contagious, and you couldn’t help but let it rub off on you!

Beth was a talented pianist and would guest play for local churches often. She loved Christmas programs and participated in her church praise team. She even created an a cappella singing workshop called SkySong. She was committed to teaching children’s Bible classes because she believed that her talents should be used first as a conduit to the Lord. Beth’s passion for children to know Jesus and worship through song is one of the most inspiring and beautiful parts of her. She sang often and in all kinds of genres. She loved country western two stepping, concerts, Sweet Adeline’s, Girls Choir and was a talented singer and song writer herself! She wrote hundreds of pieces of original music but was so humble that most people didn’t know this about her. Yes, it is safe to say that Beth Horner loved music and she was good at it!

Another thing about Beth that might surprise people is that she spoke fluent Spanish. Just like she did with her music, Beth first looked to use her language skills for God. She was very passionate about helping the people of Belize. Beth traveled to Belize on mission trips for over 15 years to serve on medical missions. She always wanted to bring other people wherever she went, and Belize was no exception. Over the years she convinced Bryan and her kids to join her on some of the trips. One Christmas, Beth encouraged the extended family to collect sunglasses and toothbrushes for Belize in lieu of presents. She was generous towards so many missions around the world.

Some of her favorite things to do with her grandkids was to read them stories and cook together. She often made homemade sourdough bread, armadillo eggs and more recently, lots of communion bread. The past 5 years, she and Bryan would host a Cousin Camp for all their grandchildren. The kids dressing up in Nonny’s colorful wardrobe was always a big highlight of the weekend. The kids would also apply Mermaid makeup with Nonny’s hair chalk and top it off with costume jewelry too. Bryan and Beth would take all the grandchildren to the nature center, do a community service project together and play on the lake. By the end of Cousin Camp, the house would be a huge mess, but all Beth saw was the smiles on her grandchildren’s faces.

Beth leaves us with a legacy of loving people and loving the Lord. She lived life with happiness and never let the small things get to her. She constantly lost glasses, left shoes everywhere, and misplaced her phone and car keys. None of those things seemed to bother her; she would just laugh it off with a smile on her face! She knew she was going to Heaven and didn’t have time to worry about little things!

Beth loved nothing more than having a house full of people. She would often make a huge pot of chili with a recipe that was mostly from memory and taste tests. When all her children and grandchildren were together, she would usually look around and say, “this is what we always wanted.” Beth had a way of making everyone feel welcome and important at her house. All her children’s friends were always treated like family, and she was considered a second mom by so many. There were many times that the family would show up for an after-church meal or a special event, only to be greeted by strangers that Beth had invited. This is who Beth Horner was! She never met a stranger, and she was the embodiment of “the more the merrier”! If you were at her house, then you were family.

Beth loved to laugh and often read Dave Barry books and listened to Weird Al Yankovic songs. With her laugh, she made most of the men in her life believe they were successful comedians. Everyone felt special around Beth.

She will be greatly missed but is now in the presence of the One she loved the most.

She is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by Bryan (Shug); her beloved husband and soulmate of 46 years. She is also survived by her brother Mark Kruse and her sister, Kim Massey. Left to carry on her legacy are her children Beau Horner and his wife Tash, Hayley Rodgers and her husband Adam, Brady Horner and his wife Briana. As well as 8 grandchildren: Avalon Rodgers, Layla Horner, Paxton Horner, Archer Rodgers, Castle Rodgers, Quintus Horner, Audrey Horner, and Teresia Horner along with many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to San Angelo Broadway Academy, San Angelo Christian Academy, the Wall Library, and North Belize Medical Mission.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Beth on Sunday September 12, 2021 at 2:00PM at the Johnson Street Church of Christ. After the Celebration, the family will welcome guests in the Family Room of Johnson Street Church and serve light refreshments.

Beth was blessed by skilled, responsive, community professionals in her time of need. The family deeply appreciates each and every one. Our deep gratitude is extended to Dr. Kelly Koening and Dr. Ty Houghston.
