Lilburn Dean Goodman Walker was born to C.C. (Mike) and Mathilda (Tillie) Goodman on January 6, 1933, in London, Texas and passed from this life on September 20, 2021, in San Angelo, Texas. The last couple of years have been hard for Lilburn due to advanced dementia and the isolation from Covid. After her husband G passed away on July 6th, 2021, Lilburn was just lost and had no desire to go on. 

Lilburn grew up on a small bit of land around London. Her dad worked as a ranch hand. Times were hard as she and her siblings grew up during the Great Depression. She graduated London High School in 1950 and was valedictorian of her class of 5.  

After graduation, Lilburn worked in a drugstore, furniture store and at the clinic in Junction, Texas. While working at the clinic she met G.W. Walker. Only a few months later on February 24, 1951, Lilburn and G married and their 70-year adventure began. G was in college at Southwest Texas State College in San Marcos when they added Todd and Tanis to their family. When G finished school, they moved to Coahoma, then Mason and later to Georgetown while G pursued his career in education. Once in Georgetown, Lilburn began going to college at Southwestern University, but that was too expensive. After one year, she started commuting to the University of Texas in Austin. Todd was around 13 years old, and Tanis was 11 years old when Lilburn started college. Lilburn and G wanted their kids to go to college, so mom went to college in order to be able to get a good job. That way she and G would be able to afford college for their kids. Lilburn graduated from the University of Texas in Austin in 1967 with a B.S. in education and obtained a librarian science certification in 1969. She was a librarian at Southwestern University for 2 years until a job opened up at Georgetown High School where she was the head librarian for 17 years. 

While living in Georgetown, they attended the Georgetown Church of Christ and made many special friends including Bob and Margie Thomas and Bill and Tylene Edmiston. The three couples remained best friends throughout their lives.  

In 1986, Lilburn and G moved to San Angelo in order to be closer to their families and to live in a place where they could have G’s mom live with them when the time came. As it turned out, G’s mom passed away before she could live with them. They were always thinking and planning for the future. They wanted to make their lives and the lives of their kids easier. While living in San Angelo, Lilburn began working for the Tom Green Library System at the central library (11 years). Lilburn was the catalogue librarian working behind the scenes in the office doing what she loved! She retired in 1998. 

Lilburn loved books and reading, needlepoint, cross stitching, line dancing, being with her kids, grandkids and great grandkids and serving at church on the funeral meal committee. She also volunteered at Rust Street and did a monthly route for Meals for the Elderly for years. Most people were unaware of the many things she did because that’s how she liked to serve. She made countless visits to people in the hospital and had great Bible knowledge but didn’t make a big deal of it. Her testimony was the way she lived her life. If she feared that she offended anyone in any way, she was he first to apologize because she wanted to be on good terms with everyone.  

Lilburn is preceded in death by her sweet G, her parents, brother-in-law, James Dagen, sister-in-law Pat Goodman, sister-in-law Loma Harris, brother-in-law Ballard Harris, brother-in-law Carl Nolte. She is survived by her son Todd (Jackie) of Abilene, daughter, Tanis (Allen), grandchildren, Cooper Price (D’Lynn) of San Angelo, Michael Walker (Kristen) of Longview, Mark Walker of Longview, LaBecca Buselli (Nick) of San Angelo, great grandchildren, Seth and Sydney Price of San Angelo, Michaela, Madelyn and Bear Walker of Longview, sister Jean Dagen of Fredericksburg, brother Larry Goodman of Austin, sister in law Gwen Nolte and nephews Edward Harris of Junction, Clint Goodman of Austin and Boyd Goodman of Spring. 

Honorary pallbearers are Bill Edmiston, Cooper Price, Michael Walker, Mark Walker, Seth Price, Nick Buselli, Mitch Freeman, David Gonzales and the late Bob Thomas. 

The family would like to thank Dr. Forlano for taking such good care of mom for over 30 years. In addition, we would like to thank the staff at Brayden Park and Crystal and Brad from Concho Hearts Hospice for their loving care. 

Services are under the direction of Harper Funeral Home and will be at the Johnson Street Church of Christ on Friday, September 24, 2020, at 10:00 AM with Tommy King officiating. Jerry Frederick of San Angelo passed away September 19, 2021, at the age of 87. He was born on January 4, 1934, in Blooming Grove, Texas on his sister, Bobby Jean's 5th birthday, to Bob and Maebell Frederick. Jerry had many names he went by, he was born Billy Gerald, in grade school he was nicked named Rusty and when he started working he went by Jerry, also know affectionally by Daddy and Paw Paw. 

He graduated from Frost High School in 1951. He moved to Lubbock, after graduation and attended Texas Tech. He met the love of his life Lydia Sanders at the Hi- D- Ho drive in and they were married March 12, 1954. Their first born daughter Sabrina was born in Lubbock in 1957 and they soon moved to El Paso Tx where Rusty sold chicken feed on both sides of the boarder. When second daughter Sherry was born in 1960 they were living in Odessa, Tx he was working at Bronco Chevrolet selling used cars. 

In 1970 he had the opportunity to buy the Lincoln Mercury dealership in San Angelo. Jerry was a salesman and an entrepreneur and sold just about anything. After selling the dealership in 1985 he bought a women's apparel franchise with his friend George Mc Crea. In 1999 he went in partnership with Bob Parr and built and operated three Lazy Boys Galleries in Orlando Florida. 

Jerry volunteered on several charitable organizations and participated in San Angelo stock show premium sale. He loved this community and helped to promote its' success for many years. 

Jerry loved to travel and loved to play golf even more. He had the opportunity to play golf in several countries, his favorite was Saint Andrews golf course in Scotland. He fished in Alaska and went bird hunting in Mexico and he loved Elk hunting in Colorado. 

He lived a good life, gave generously and love his family the most He is proceeded in death by his parents Bob Frederick and Mae Bell Webb, stepfather Joe Webb, sister, Bobby Jean Mowrey and loving wife of 62 years Lydia Frederick. 

He is survived by daughters Sabrina Ward (Bob), Sherry Abel (Clark). Grandchildren Justin (Joni), Jenna, Jake (Katy), Jaren. Great-grandchildren, Jackson, Jameson, June, Ila Ella all of San Angelo. He is also survived by special cousins, nieces and nephews on both sides of the family. And his special buddy Elva Herrera. Thank you Elva for your love and care of our Daddy and Paw Paw. 

If you would like to make a donation in his honor his favorite charities were those that concerned children. Shriners Hospital for children, St. Jude, JPW Learning Center, Arms of Hope and Rust Street Ministries. 

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 22, 2021, from 2:00-4:00pm at Harper Funeral Home. Funeral service will be on Thursday, September 23, 2021, at 2:00pm at Johnsons Street Church of Christ. Burial to follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.

Demetrio Zuniga of Big Spring, Texas passed away on Sep 18, 2021. His loved ones are composing his obituary, which you will be able to read here.

John “Lee” Clare, 50, of San Angelo went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 17, 2021. Lee was born April 23, 1971, in Denver City, Texas to John Brit Clare, Jr. and Jackie Trucene Crowder Clare. He grew up in Denver City, Texas and graduated from Denver City High School. After high school, he attended heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) school in Arizona and graduated from there.

Lee worked for several companies in Denver City, Lubbock, and Austin before settling in San Angelo and establishing Clare’s Heating and Air Conditioning – Commercial Refrigeration LLC. Lee married the love of his life, Crystal Louise Murray on January 27, 2012, and they shared many beautiful years together and were raising four children. He was a loving son, brother, husband, and father who devoted his life to his Savior and his family. Lee was extremely proud of his wife and children. He loved taking an active role in coaching football, basketball and baseball on his children’s teams. In his spare time, he enjoyed reading his bible, going to church at PaulAnn Church and being at the lake. If there was a definition for “heart of gold”, Lee would be the description. He was the most genuine person and would do anything to help out in any situation. His smile was contagious, and his hugs put you in a place of such peace and comfort. Beauty is what he saw in everything, always looking for the good in any situation. His children and wife were his world as he was theirs. His advice to everyone was God, Family then Work…. And that’s what he lived by. Lee’s strong faith in the Lord and his tremendous love of his family will live on in our hearts forever and we will dearly miss him! He was preceded in death by his father, John Brit Clare, Jr., his brother, Todd Brit Clare and his sister, Darla Jean Clare.

Lee is survived by his wife, Crystal Clare, of San Angelo; 5 children; Karagan, Tatem, Slade and Preslee, all of San Angelo, and Victoria of Lubbock; his mother, Trucene Fort and her husband, Clyde, of Madill, OK; his sister, Kim Clare, of Hobbs, NM; his Mother-in-law, Flossie Flores and her husband Wayne, of San Angelo; his Father-in-law, Chris Murray and his wife Gina, of Brady, TX; his sister-in-law, Miranda Galvan and her husband Armando, of Christoval, Tx; his sister-in-law, Logan Murray, of Dublin, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews, Aunts, Uncles, other family members and close friends.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 P.M. – 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at Harper Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be 10:00 A.M., Thursday, September 23, 2021, at Paul Ann Church with Pastor Kirt Dauphin officiating. Burial will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Alice Pauline (Rich) Brooks was 87 years old when she was called home to heaven on Thursday, September 16, 2021, surrounded by family and in the care of Hospice of San Angelo. She was born in Fort Worth, Texas, to Henry Bruce Rich, Sr., and Mattie Naomi (Fanning) Rich on March 2, 1934. Over the next few years, her family relocated to Monahans, Texas, where Alice graduated high school. She married Joe Brooks in 1951 and had three children. 

Her kids better knew her as “Mama” and her grandkids as “Memaw.” She was devoted to her family and her church. Alice had a strong work ethic and worked at various places throughout her life. She worked at Glenn Junior High as a teachers’ aid for many years and attended nursing school, where she received her LVN in 1989. 

Alice was a beloved member of Glen Meadows Baptist Church, loved attending her Joy Sunday School Class, and enjoyed her weekly game time with friends at the church. Alice was very passionate about her love for the Lord and raised her children with a strong Christian influence. Her tremendous faith in Christ, incredible kindness, and beautiful spirit will remain in our hearts forever! She will be dearly missed by all who loved her. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Bruce Rich Jr. and Charles Rich, sister, Jo Ann (Rich) Wein, son, David Brooks, daughter, Nancy (Brooks) Kacal, and grandson, Mark Heath. 

The family members who are left to cherish her memory are her daughter Paula (Brooks) Heath of San Angelo, TX, brother Jack Rich of Granbury, TX, daughter-in-law Lori (Bledsoe) Brooks of Fort Collins, CO, son-in-law Bobby Kacal of Waco, TX, and Pete Morado of Iraan, TX whom Alice took in as her son later in her life. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Nicki (Brooks) Self, Natalie (Brooks) Miller, J.T. Brooks, Erika Brooks-Hurst, Joseph Kacal, Allison (Kacal) Moeller-Wickard, Garrett Morado, Graycee Morado, and Gannon Morado. Alice was also the proud Memaw to her nine great-grandchildren, Bree, Jillian, and Chloe Self, Leo Hurst, Kinley Moeller, Silas and Naomi Miller, Lola and Franklin Brooks, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. 

A special thanks to Debbie and Brandi of Hospice of San Angelo, who provided for her in such a special way in her last days. 

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2021, at 11:00, AM at Glen Meadows Baptist Church, with Rev. Mack Roller and Mills Caraway officiating. Due to the ongoing pandemic, face masks and social distancing would be greatly appreciated.

Bonnie Arthur was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She left this world suddenly on September 17, 2021. 

She was born to Walter and Gladys Bluemel on February 1, 1943. She met the love of her life, Jerry Arthur, while attending Christoval High School, and they were married for 60 years. Together they had two children: Todd and Toni. She was the proud grandmother of nine grandchildren: Chad, Colby, Jonathan, Courtney, Caty, Cody, Brandi, Britani and Becca. She also leaves behind her loyal companion, Missy Rue. Bonnie lived in Christoval for her entire adult life and so leaves behind her much loved Christoval family. 

She was a skilled hair dresser in her early years and later retired from Tom Green County, after serving as a clerk for the Justice of the Peace Office. At home, she enjoyed collecting anything with a frog on it, knitting, quilting, playing cards and bunko. 

Visitation will be at Harper Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 from 5:00 to 7:00. A funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 am on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at the Christoval Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Knickerbocker Community Cemetery.

William (Will) Ellis Allen was born on July 16, 1949, to John David Allen, Jr. and Frances Lee Ellis Allen in Brownwood , Texas. On December 23, 1971, he married Deborah Helmers in Eden, Texas. Will and Deborah had two children, William Brett Allen and Julie Diane Allen. He passed away on September 16, 2021. 

Will lived in Brownwood until his senior year in high school when his family moved to San Angelo. He really enjoyed retelling the stories of the days of playing freely with his neighborhood friends in Brownwood as children of the 1950s and 1960s could do. 

It was in Brownwood where he started playing his lifetime sport of golf with his grandfather, “Daddy Will”, whom he spoke fondly of even in his final days. Will went on to play on his high school golf teams and at Angelo State University. After retirement, he played many rounds of golf with the Bentwood Noon Group until his back problems prevented him from playing. 

After graduating from Angelo State University, he worked at San Angelo State School. He started working in the warehouse and worked his way up to Chief Accountant. In 1998 he retired at age 49 after working for 27 years. 

Will’s survivors include his wife Deborah; his son Brett Allen and wife Melissa; and his daughter Julie and her husband Sam. He is also survived by his brothers John David Allen III, Thomas Allen (Ann), and his sister Kathy Ellebracht (Ben). Will was very proud of his five grandchildren: Addison Allen, Abigail Allen, Emma Francis, Sammy Francis, and Charlotte Francis. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews: Tom Allen, Tim Allen, Lee Ann Clawson, Keith Ellebracht, Lee Allen, Kathleen Helmers, Gaye Markham, Lori Seider, Kelley Hirt, Sherri Jarvis, and Terri Cook. 

Will was preceded in death by his parents John and Frances Allen, his grandparents William Richard and Jimmie Kate Ellis, Johnny D. and Mabel Allen, his niece Allison Allen Wilson and numerous aunts and uncles. 

In lieu of flowers, we suggest that memorials be made to The American Diabetes Association, the Alzheimer’s Association, or First Methodist of San Angelo. 

A Family visitation will be from 5:00pm to 7:00pm Sunday September 19, at Harper Funeral Home. 

Graveside will be at 10:00 am Monday September 20 in Fairmount Cemetery with Rev. Scott Bradford officiating.

Sallie Kiest of San Angelo passed away Sept 15, 2021 at the age of 80. She was born on August 23, 1941 in Des Moines, Iowa to the parents of Henry Utley and Phyllis Frostle. After graduation from Dixon High School she attended the State University of Iowa. She joined the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority and unbelievably maintained a close relationship with about twelve girls. They had a reunion every year for many years until age and health prevented annual gatherings. 

While on Christmas break during Sallie’s junior year she met her future husband Lanny Kiest who was home on leave from the Army. 

On July 6, 1963 they were married in Dixon, Illinois and moved to New York where she embarked on her career as a social worker on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. After a year they decided to move back to the Midwest when Lanny landed a job at a local TV station in Saginaw, Michigan. It was in Saginaw where they started their family. Being mom to Tracey, Meredith and Kelly was one of Sallie’s greatest joys. 

While juggling three children under five, Sallie also secured one of her favorite jobs working for an adoption agency. 

After fourteen years, the Kiest family moved to Houston, Texas. There, she worked as an assistant tennis pro at an indoor tennis complex. 

Additionally, she partnered with friend, Sue Trice and opened a consignment store called “The Spare Room,” ten years before consignment shops became popular. They were very successful and had a ball. Another positive of being in Houston was that the family was close to her husband’s brother living in San Antonio. Texas wise, that’s pretty close and holidays were spent with family in Houston or San Antonio. 

Another move took them to Little Rock where she returned to social work. After a few years, she and Lanny had a chance to get back to Texas, Midland briefly. Then fortunately, they landed in San Angelo which has been home since 1991. 

Shortly after arriving in San Angelo, Sallie helped develop CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) and served as the organization’s first Program Director. At a point, she moved to Baptist Retirement Community as a social worker until she retired. Prior to retirement she and another friend rented a booth in Concho Confetti Antique Mall and brought a little Houston history to San Angelo calling her space “The Spare Room.” It should be noted that Sallie was one of the first two women that were invited to join the Downtown Lions Club. 

She was a member of the First United Methodist church and of the Cheers Sunday School class. She was a door stepper and instrumental in establishing the 11th hour, a contemporary service along with the staff. 

In all the moves the family made, Sallie was always supportive and positive. She looked at every move as a new adventure. 

Sallie was a happy person, always had a smile on her face, loved people and they loved her back. She was such a positive person! Through her work over the years, she impacted many lives for the better. 
The family greatly appreciates the loving care Sallie received from the associates, nurses, and all personnel at The Crest West and Sagecrest. Thank you!!! 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Sallie’s honor to Baptist Retirement Community, The Crest West or Sagecrest. 

Sallie’s worship service and celebration of life will be held at First United Methodist Church located at 37 E. Beauregard Ave. in San Angelo, TX on Saturday, October 2 at 11:00 a.m.
