Caleb Lawrence Wallace

Caleb Lawrence Wallace, a man of many talents and life-long resident of Texas died August 28, 2021 at the age of 30 and went home to his Heavenly Father. 

Caleb was born in Mesa, Arizona on March 8, 1991 to Russ and Becky Wallace, but grew up in what he called “The Great State of Texas”. Caleb was a Rancher and an Insight Sales and Backup Driver for AirGas. On January 4, 2014 he married his beautiful wife, Jessica, in the Texas Latterday Saints Houston Temple. Between the years of 2015 and 2021 his children were born who were the most important part of his life and gave him his favorite title, “Daddy”. 

Caleb was a devoted father, husband and family man and an avid animal lover. Caleb loved doing acts of service for others, he would frequently call home to his wife to let her know he would be late because he was helping people in need. Caleb loved to hunt and could spend hours on a ranch taking care of animals, filling deer feeders and helping others hunt. Caleb loved spending time with his girls, they would wrestle, play outside, swim, horseback riding, watching movies and cuddled and he would read bedtime stories to them every night. Caleb loved being a “girl dad”. Caleb was a devoted husband and loved his wife passionately and would do anything for her happiness and love. They would go on frequent “date nights”, take family trips, would laugh uncontrollably together and made sure each other knew how much they loved one another. 

Caleb was a problem-solver and would often take on unwanted and difficult projects at work, at home and for others. Caleb was very close with his father and would frequently weld with his dad, work on their ranching equipment, clean guns and work on their trucks together. Caleb loved his mother and siblings and would do anything for them no matter what. Caleb was a spiritual man involved in many church activities including a 2 year long mission to Anchorage, Alaska teaching others the gospel and about our Heavenly Father. Caleb was a passionate person, always stood up for what he believed in and put others needs before his own. Caleb will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him. 

Caleb is survived by his parents, Russ and Becky Wallace; his Wife Jessica Wallace, their children, Brooke, Aubrey, Kate and Emsley Wallace.; his in-laws, Jimmy and Magdalena Birkhead; His brother and wife, Tyler and Sara Wallace; Sister and Husband, Michael and Susan Juarez; Brother and Wife, Scott and Teresa Brauer; Sister and Husband, Jake and Meghan Peters; Brother, Cameron Gonzales; his Nieces and Nephews, Kailey, Jordan, Mya, Elias, Alexah, Nellie, Dallin, Abram, Micah; Uncle and Aunt, Steve and Susan Ray; Aunt Sharron Richmond. 

Caleb is preceded in death by his Papa and Nana, Bruce and Shirley Wallace; Grandfather Stanley Weibel and Grandmother JoAnn Weibel; and his Aunts, Barbara and Marie Wallace. 

Memorial Service will be held September 3rd, 2021 at 10:00am located at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. 4475 Southwest Blvd San Angelo, Tx 76904 

Please no black attire we are not here to mourn we are here to celebrate the life of Caleb Wallace. Come as you are but please dress appropriately as we will be in a church. Masks are encouraged but not required.

Carlos R. Gamez

Carlos R. Gamez, 65, of San Angelo passed away Thursday, August 26, 2021.

Public viewing will be from 9:00 AM until 8:00 PM Friday, September 3, 2021, at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, September 4, 2021, at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel with Ramiro Mendez, officiating. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home

On January 26, 1956, Carlos was born the youngest of eight children to Natividad and Thomasa Gamez. Carlos graduated San Angelo Central High School, class of 1975 and was the husband of Angelita F. Gamez, sharing 44 years of marriage. Carlos owned and operated Janmasters cleaning service, est. 1983.

He is survived by his wife, four children, one of which he adopted, one fantastic son-in-law, five living grandchildren, one of which he adopted, one pizza loving pooch, five ever so attentive felines, one kitten, one lizard, two grand dogs, two brothers, two sisters, numerous brother and sisters-in-law, cousins, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and the one that broke his heart, his beloved grandson of twelve years, four months, and seven days.

Carlos was a loving family man and friend to many. He adored and loved spending time with his grandchildren, family and friends, preferably all at the same time. In his early years he enjoyed his good times van, horseshoe pitching, goat cook offs, washer pitching and most recently, a corn hole lawn game by the pool with any manner of cold IPA in hand. Carlos always made you feel welcome and made sure you were fed and refreshed.

Dad, you are sorely missed and as we your family are finding out,
You are loved by many, and that love is eternal and as you would say, Badass!

Lena Lois Lowery Dunlap

Lena Lois passed away August 31, 2021 at the age of 91. She is survived by her 3 children and 1 step daughter, Lee Lowery (Laura), Don Lowery (Kathy), Deborah Carter (Tom), Belinda Wright. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Kerry Lowery (Sonceia), Kenny Lowery (Leasa), Billy Lowery, Allyson Carter, Matt Carter (Amy), along with 12 great-grandchildren and 3 great great-grandchildren. She is also survived by 2 brothers and 2 sisters, Russel Michel (Susie), Charlie Michel, JoAnn Chambers and Genevive Duffy. Preceding Lena Lois in death were her husbands, Jack Lowery, the father of her children and Daughty Dunlap, her parents R.L. and Mae Michel and a grandson Dustin Lowery. 


Although her family will greatly miss her and her large family gatherings with food for an army, she left us a legacy of love and Christian values. If you would like to honor our mother with a gift to your church or favorite charity, please do so. We also think her message would be to share time and God with your family. Take them to church and introduce them to a relationship with Jesus.

Samuella "Sammye" Stone

Samuella “Sammye” Nutt Stone of San Angelo passed away on August 24, 2021 after an extended struggle with Covid 19. Visitation will be Friday September 3, 2021, from 5 pm to 7 pm at Harper Funeral Home and a private family graveside service will take place on Saturday at Fairmont Cemetery. Please be considerate of those who may be immunocompromised or are otherwise unable to be vaccinated. 

Sammye was born September 24, 1940 in San Angelo to Happle and Mozelle (Henderson) Nutt and continued a lineage descended from Sam Houston. The family operated ranches in Concho and Upton County and her mother continued to do so after Happle’s death in 1942. Sammye was a 1958 graduate of San Angelo Central High School where she was a Tex-Ann and Homecoming Duchess before proceeding to Texas Tech University. She married David Stone in 1959 and though the marriage did not endure it produced 2 beautiful daughters. She worked for Mitsubishi in San Angelo for several years and eventually relocated for a time to Arizona with her daughters. 

Sammye returned to Texas and in 1975 took over the management of the family ranches. She was an innovative and respected producer successfully managing extensive sheep, goat, and cow/calf operations for several decades. She was recognized with feature articles in Texas Highways, Texas Weekly, and San Angelo magazines and was the Concho SWCD Conservation Rancher of the year in 1997. The Stone 3 Oaks Ranch in Concho County, with origins in 1883, received the Texas Family Ranch Heritage Award for continuous operation by the same family for 100 years. 

Ms. Stone was predeceased by her parents. She is survived by her daughters Tomarra Stone of San Angelo and Tracy Stone Morrison of Crawford; and her grandsons who were her 3 Oaks: Samuel Morrison of Waco, Hap Morrison of China Spring, and Jake Morrison of Eden. In addition, Sammye was also a surrogate parent and grandparent to Darcy King of San Angelo and her children: Caleb, Magen, Joshua, Elizabeth, Sammye, and Michelle. 

Sammye was a lover of the arts and was very involved in advancing San Angelo cultural life over the years. She adopted numerous shelter pets throughout her life and was a passionate advocate for the humane treatment of pets, working animals, and livestock. In lieu of flowers, please direct donations to local cultural arts or animal welfare organizations.

Rachel Diaz

The love story is complete. Our mother has finally joined our father in the house of the Lord. Our mother Rachel Diaz passed away Thursday, August 26, 2021 in San Antonio. She was born on April 27, 1933 in Knickerbocker, Texas to Romolo and Alvina Morales. She married the love of her life, Eulogio Diaz on September 17, 1955 and together they made their home in San Angelo, eventually moving to Grape Creek. She worked many years and ultimately retired from Angelo State University. She loved sewing and making blankets for the grandchildren and thereafter the great grandchildren. She loved to hear that her blankets were traveling all over the world. Her faith in God was unwavering and she was a devout Catholic being a member of Saint Mary’s Parish for most of her life. 

Rachel was preceded in death by her husband, Eulogio Diaz, her parents Romolo and Alvina Morales, sister Eva Torres and brothers, Ramon and Reynaldo Morales. She is survived by her children, Jesse Diaz and wife Rosie of Christoval, Angela Diaz of San Angelo, Eulogio Diaz, Jr. and wife Felipa of Grape Creek, Antonio Diaz and wife Kyna of Shippensburg, PA and Mary Cantu and husband Sam of San Antonio. Rachel was blessed with 13 grandchildren, Andrew Hernandez, Tana Hernandez King, Miguel Diaz, Manuel Diaz, Maria Diaz-Webber, Monica Diaz, Shanna Brooks, Rachel Diaz-Debias, Morgan Diaz-Stoner, Angela Leija, Cynthia Lujan, Mencho Cantu, Jr. and Christopher Cantu. Rachel’s heart strings were attached to the 22 great grandchildren that she had, Luis Diaz, Rebecca and Ray Webber, Isabela and Xavier Martinez, Gina, Salma and Addie Hernandez, Maverick King, Raynen and Noah Brooks, Celina Debias, Jack and Caroline Stoner, Mick Hinds, Francis Murcheck, Salem Cantu, Lieam Hernandez, Kameron, Kristopher and Kaci Lujan and Castello Diaz. 

A rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. Sunday, August 29, 2021 in the chapel of Johnson’s Funeral Home. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 30, 2021 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with interment to follow in Knickerbocker Cemetery. 

Pallbearers will be Manuel Diaz, Miguel Diaz, Andrew Hernandez, Diego Lujan, Jesse Urias and Reggie Torres. 

Rachel’s family would like to thank Transciend Hospice of San Antonio for all their help and support and a special Thank you to her personal care giver Diana Rodriguez for taking such good care of our mother. 

All the pain and grief is over Every restless tossing passed I am now at peace forever Safely home in Heaven at last!!!

Julia H. Martinez

Julia Holguin Martinez 92, passed away peacefully at her home early in the morning on Saturday, August 28, 2021.

Mom was born April 15, 1929 in Knickerbocker, Tx. to Anselmo and Jesusita Holguin. Julia was a lifelong resident of San Angelo, Tx. She married her one and forever true love, Jose Martinez on August 27, 1944 and spent the next 68 years happily by his side. Julia was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She was always welcoming and loved to serve others. She offered hospitality like no other. Mom knew the value of hard work from picking cotton in the cotton fields to being a seamstress and owning and operating Joe's Little Kitchen Restaurant with Dad for over 18 years. Mom devoted her life to taking care of her husband and her children, this, was her favorite job. Julia will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by those she leaves behind. She is survived by her daughter, Josie and husband Eddie Heath, two sons, Jesse Martinez Sr. and wife Jo Ann and Jeffery Martinez and wife Barbara; seven grandchildren, Mary Ellen Suarez, Robert "Bobby" Torres, Maricela Gomez, Laurie Ann Sanchez, Jesse Martinez Jr., Christopher Joe Martinez and Amanda Lynn Monsivias; 17 great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren. Julia was preceded in death by her husband, her parents; two sons, Joe John Martinez and Joe" Jody" Martinez, Jr.; three brothers; and two sisters.


Public viewing will be from 9:00 AM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Wake Service with a Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 PM. Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, September 3, 2021 at St. Mary's catholic Church. Burial will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Robert Torres Jr., Jesse Martinez Jr., Christopher Joe Martinez, Iian Flores, Matthew Perez, and Esidoro Holguin.

The family extends a special thank you to Brother Jeffery and Barbara and to all the wonderful people who took care of our mother. Hospice of San Angelo, and Beatrice Martinez of Girling Home Health.

God, in your love and mercy turn the darkness of death into the dawn of a new and eternal life and the sorrow of parting into the joy of heaven, through our Savior Jesus Christ who died and rose again and lives forever...Amen.
