Eddie Rodriguez Lopez, Jr.

07/05/2022 - 09:05 , by TKing09

Eddie R. “Boy” Lopez Jr. of Austin, Texas went to be with our Heavenly Father on June
26, 2022. Eddie was born in San Angelo, Texas on April 26, 1962, to Eddie R. Lopez Sr.
and Minnie Martinez. He was the oldest of one sibling, Lera Wroblewski. He graduated
from Central High School and attended Angelo State University in San Angelo Texas.
He married the love of his life, Marylisa Garcia Lopez in Austin, Texas.

His passions in life included attending and following the billiard circuit throughout Texas.
He was named the “9-Ball Hill Country Champion” of 2004. Of course with the rhythm
of a smooth pool player, came a smooth Tejano and R & B dancer. As his niece would
lovingly call him “Tio Pimp”. He would light up any party not just with his smooth moves
but his infectious smile.

He was a bargain shopper who loved finding the best deals at his local thrift stores. But
to get him in a great mood, you just needed to ask him to visit the nearest Home Depot
as that was his “ candyland”. He would walk around the whole store with visions of
remodeling our home and buying the newest tool gadget he could find.

Eddie was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Minnie Martinez, grand parents,
Conrad Sr. and Macaria Lopez, Marcario “Mike” and Elivera Martinez, father and mother
in-laws Juan Santiago and Mary Ann Garcia, uncles Conrad Lopez Jr, Richard Lopez,
and Fred Caballero Sr., aunts Gloria Caballero and Christine Midian Lopez, cousins,
Ronnie Caballero, Deda Caballero, Cecilia Caballero, Irve Caballero and David Cox.

He is survived by his loving wife Marylisa of Austin, son Eddie R. Lopez III of Austin and
daughter Sara Monique Lopez of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Eddie had so many special
lifelong family and friends; Pete Natal and Lucy Guiterrez and family, Joe and Carrie
Pedroza and family, Patty Cox and family, Conrad Lopez III and family, Sandra Crockett
and family, Fred “Coonie” Caballero and family, Genie Caballero and family, Yvonne
Caballero and family, Tommy Rodriguez and family, Lee Gomez and family, JR Gomez
and family, Jannette Benefee and family, Cindy Natal and family, Mike Natal and family,
Anna Martinez and family, Jimmy Garcia and family, Rachel Garcia and family,
Fernando Santillan and family, Vernon Bilbo and family, Frank Sawyer and family, David
Orr and family, Johnny and Gerome Cervantes and family, Larry “Big Guy”and Delisa
Gonzales and family, Joanne “A-Tex Pools” and family, Travis McBride and family,
Frances Longoria and family, Elizabeth Perez and family and numerous friends,
cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews that shaped who he was; a
kind and generous soul.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to all those who have reached out to
share the ways Eddie touched their lives. As Eddie’s motto is “When you can’t find
sunshine be the sunshine”. There will be a celebration of life at Harper Funeral Home at
1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, July 6, 2022.

Columba Albarran Perez

06/30/2022 - 08:58 , by TKing09

Columba Albarran Perez, 74, of San Angelo passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2022.

Viewing will be from 10:00 AM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, June 30, 2022 at Robert Massie Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Friday, June 29, 2022 at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel with Iglesia de Cristo Minister Tomas Davila, officiating. Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM in Lima Cemetery in Ozona under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Mrs. Perez was born on December 31, 1947 in Chumbitaro, Michoacan, Mexico to Salomon and Eufrosina Ocampo Albarran. From an early age, there was no stopping Columba once she made up her mind to do something. This fierceness is what brought her from a small town in Mexico, at the early age of seventeen, to the steps of Angelo State University. Because of her, our family's seed was planted in San Angelo.

Columba was known to many as a devote Christian who liked to quote biblical scripture, but there is also a side of her that many may not know. She loves sports; the Braves were her "go to" team, up until the Texas Rangers started to come up. We would play Tennis, and she would tell us she was Chris Evert Lloyd. She also loves movies. One of Columba's favorite quote was from the movie A League of Their Own, "There's no crying in baseball". There was no man like her John Wayne.

Alone, she worked hard to provide support to her struggling parents and younger sisters. Who would have thought a poor girl, from Mexico, would ever own a 20-acre ranch? She will immediately tell you, she did. If she dreamed it, she made it happen. Her drive and devotion are the legacy she leaves in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and all who know and love her.

Columba is survived by her four children, Daniel Duron and spouse Jennifer Martinez of San Angelo, Sarah Resendez and spouse Jesus of San Antonio, Esteban Duron of San Angelo, and Salomon Isacc Duron "Moncho" and spouse Bridget of Ozona; two sisters, Maria "Alili" Albarran and Elvia Borja and spouse Servando; five grandchildren, Anthony Duron Sanchez and spouse Victoria, Alejandro Lara, Jacob Lara, Salomon Isacc Duron, Jr., and Rachel Isabella Duron; and two great-grandchildren, Lylah Marie Sanchez and Caleb Anthony Sanchez.

Duane H. Keifer

06/28/2022 - 10:31 , by TKing09

Duane H. Keifer of San Angelo went to be with his Lord & Savior June 26, 2022. Duane was born April 25, 1926 to John & Nina Keifer in Floyd, Iowa. He attended school in Charles City, Iowa and Minneapolis, Minn. where his parents had moved to work in a defense plant at the height of WW2.

He enlisted in the Air Force before they could draft him and was sent to Texas for training. He met and married the love of his life, Novaline Pruitt, in 1947 while he was stationed at Carswell AFB in Ft. Worth, Texas. They had three sons, Kyle, Darrell, & Carson.

He was a 20 year veteran of the United States Air Force. He flew on B-29s & B-36s – logging thousands of hours. In the early 50s Duane participated in Operation Ivy (First H-bomb Test) at Eniwetok Atoll. He survived a crash in 1955 when their B-36 landed short, burned and exploded on a Carswell AFB runway. When the B-36 was phased out he crossed trained into Air Traffic Control at Keesler AFB in Mississippi. He was stationed in Ft. Worth a short time and then sent to Yokota AFB, Japan for 3 years then to Whiteman AFB 2 years working with Radar Approach Control. He transferred to Carswell AFB and worked in the control tower. In 1963 he cleared Air Force 1 to land at Carswell AFB the day before President Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas. In 1964 Duane retired from the Air Force and worked with the Postal Service three years in Tyler, Texas. Missing his involvement with aviation he hired on as an Air Traffic Controller with Federal Aviation Agency in Alaska – working 2 years in Anchorage and 2 years in Fairbanks. The rest of his 2nd career was served in the control tower at San Angelo, Texas. He retired in 1986 with 42 years of Government service.

His exemplary life was an example for his sons and grandchildren. He possessed a thoughtful caring nature – quietly & generously helping others in need. He worked with World Bible School for more than 20 years serving part of that time as deacon at Johnson St. Church of Christ where he was a member since 1972. His retirement years were happily filled with enjoying his family. His sons and grandchildren always included him on their excursions and he never passed up the opportunity to join them. They canoed down the Brazos River every spring spending nights on the river bank, backpacked & hiked in the mountains of Colorado and fished on the Kenai & Russian Rivers for salmon in Alaska. He and his three sons were computer buffs in the evening playing four way games together. His favorite past time was reading and fly fishing. He visited the library weekly bringing home a satchel of books each time.

Duane was preceded in death by his father, John Keifer; his mother, Nina Keifer; his sister, Florine Day; his brother, Hillary Keifer. Survivors include wife of 74 + years, Novaline Keifer, his 3 sons: Kyle R. Keifer & his wife, Priscilla, of Grapevine, Darrell W. Keifer & his wife, Aileen, of Sterling, Alaska, & Carson J.
