Dennis Roy Unger

05/13/2022 - 08:47 , by TKing09

Dennis R. Unger, 76, of San Angelo, passed away May 7, 2022, at the age of 76. He was born in San Francisco, CA on June 19, 1945, to Melvin and Jearldean Walker. The Walker’s had two children, Dennis Roy and Larry Arthur. Jearldean moved back to San Angelo after a few years. She and Melvin divorced, and she raised the boys along with the help of family. Later she met John H. Unger and they married. Together they had one son, John David Unger.

Dennis enjoyed fishing and boy scouts. He won the God and country patch and several others.

In 1963, Dennis enlisted in the Navy and served on the USS Garcia destroyer escort. Not long after he enlisted, his brother Larry also joined him, serving on the USS Gracia. Also aboard was a great friend of his future wife Carol, Anthony Garcia. Dennis came home on leave with Anthony, Dennis told Anthony he liked redheads and Anthony said, “I have a great girl for you”. They met in March of 1965 and after one blind date asked Carol to marry him. They married on August 19, 1965. After the wedding Dennis returned to ship and was gone for 1 year.

On occasions Dennis called Carol on ship and they wrote daily to each other. While on the Garcia they asked for volunteers for a special mission and Dennis volunteered. While on the mission, which was classified he sustained a severe head injury and was taken to Philadelphia Naval Hospital. Dennis was not allowed to talk about it. Due to his injury, he was medically discharged. In 1966 Dennis and Carol were blessed with their first child Dennis J. Unger. They tried to live in New Jersey, but the winters were harsh, so they moved to Texas. Dennis worked at Woolworths Tool and Dye Factory. In 1970 our beautiful daughter Carol D Unger was born. He loved his children with all his heart, and they loved him Later in 1970 he joined San Angelo Police Department and moved up in rank from rookie to interim chief. After 33 years he retired. After Carol retired, they traveled up until 5 years ago, when his health was declining.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his beloved wife, Carol and his children Dennis J. Unger and Carol D. Unger. He is also survived by five granddaughters; Amber Lynn Unger, Ashley Lynn, Katheryn Lauren Francis, Courtney, and Alyia, two grandsons; Justin Unger and Joshua Teague. Also surviving are four great-grandchildren Chesten (4), Isabella (1 ½), Rayden (8), Ariabella(1). They called him Pappa and loved him dearly.

Dennis and Carol spent many hours with their best friends Marshall and Catherine Bryant on their ranch. They were like brothers and loved each other. They were friends for over 50 years. Dennis and Carol celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with Marshall and Catherine and renewed their wedding vows together. They shared love, joy, tears, and laughter a forever friendship. Their children Johnny Bryant and Rachael were like our children and ours theirs. Many prayers were shared, and we will all meet again in heaven.

Dennis met his new half-brother Lannie and his beautiful wife Pat, and their sweet daughter Kelley. We spent many hours of fun with them. Dennis and Lannie quickly became brothers and Dennis loved them dearly.

My brother Jack Keightly and my best friend from high school, Sandy Hurley Williams married Jack. Jack and Dennis became fast friends. We spent many hours with them traveling from San Angelo to Lakeland. We took turns spending thanksgivings together.

Dennis will be available for viewing on Friday, May 13, 2022 at Harper funeral Home from 8:00am – 7:00pm. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at Victory Christian Center at 10:30am.

George Allen Halfmann

05/09/2022 - 10:03 , by TKing09

George Allen Halfmann went to be with his Heavenly Father and the love of his life on May 7th, 2022. He was surrounded by his family as he entered the gates of heaven.

George was born on January 11, 1932 to Mack Halfmann & Emma Gerngross Halfmann in Olfen, Tx. His family moved to Wall, Tx in 1939 to farm. He helped his dad farm and tend the animals for many years before he went into the Army. As George was heading out to training for the Army, his brother Cecil was returning from being overseas and they were not able to cross paths before departing. George served his country for several years and returned home to be greeted by his family! George played in a band with his friends for many years and was known to bring the guitar out on Sunday afternoons at his home to play his favorite tunes for his kids!

On November 7, 1956, George married the love of his life & best friend, Doris Pfeiffer of Veribest, Tx. at St. Ambrose Catholic Church. They moved to St. Lawrence, Tx. where their first child was born and then moved back to Veribest to continue farming. They brought home 4 more children while living in a two-bedroom home and then moved to Wall, Tx in 1976 where they welcomed their 6th child! Their family was complete!

George was a humble man who took care of others in need. He was the greatest example of a husband, father, brother, popo, Christian and friend. Doris and George had a love and generous heart for many priests. They sponsored Fr. Paul Inje and Fr. Jesu Rajan for the past 40 years. George was very proud of his Catholic faith and set aside time each day to pray the Rosary and Divine Mercy for all of his family and friends. His kids remember seeing George and Doris kneeling beside their bed saying their prayers every night!

Dad enjoyed the fine things in life- sitting on the back porch telling stories, going to church, and spending time with his family. Dad was known for giving his kids nicknames, which carried on to their kids as well! Going to Dad/Popo’s house was a treat because you always had soady-pop, beer, ice cream and a couple quarters to bring home with you. You could find Dad down at the ranch fixing fence, feeding the cows, or on the tractor. He was the hardest worker and was known to have the toughest hands. He loved to go fishing at the tank or on the lake with his fishing buddies and bringing the fish home for a fish fry! Dad always loved to be around kids, whether they were his grandchildren/great grandchildren or kids he met at church. They all brought him so much joy, and he was known to slip a golden dollar or two to each kid.

George was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years Doris Faye Halfmann, his parents Mack & Emma Halfmann, his sister Veronica Clark, & his brother in-laws W.C. Hering & Edd Plagens.
He is survived by his 6 children, Becky (Flo) & Billy Trojcak, Greg (Pete) & Debbie Halfmann, Jeanie (Tino) & Daryl Schniers, Connie (Ebb) & Eric Weaver, Kathy (Krut) & Brian Braden, & Christy (Scoot) & Jason Katscmorak.

Also his grandchildren, LoraBeth & Warren Robicheaux, Kirk & Rachel Trojcak, Sara Halfmann, Sadie & Brian Woner, Scott Halfmann & fiancé Kaitlyn Bible, Brett & Julie Schniers, Amby & Jon-Michael Cline, Layton & Jaci Schniers, Tori & Rance Roberts, Dawson Weaver, Taylor & Will Dutton, Layne Braden, Rylee Braden, Emma Katscmorak, & Macy Katscmorak.

Along with his great-grandchildren : Jake Robicheaux, Luke Robicheaux, Katherine Robicheaux, Mack Robicheaux, Harlyn Trojcak, Shyanne Trojcak, Wyatt Woner, Hayes Woner, Tyson Woner, Sophie Woner, Brinlee Schniers, Cohen Schniers, Gracie Cline, Kate Cline, (baby Cline), Bransyn Schniers, and Corley Schniers, Bryer Schniers, and Olivia Roberts.

05/09/2022 - 09:12 , by TKing09

I passed peacefully into heaven in the comfort of my home, Monday, May 2, 2022.

I was born to John Kip Webber and Joan Webber, December 6, 1947, in Gardner Kansas. I was the eldest of two brothers, Joel Webber, and Clarke Kennedy who I preceded in death. Camry Alyse Weinheimer

05/05/2022 - 15:26 , by TKing09

Camry Alyse Weinheimer of Stonewall passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2022, at the age of 25 surrounded by family. Camry was born on July 25, 1996, in Fredericksburg, Texas to Len A. Weinheimer and Wanda Smarr Franz. Camry was baptized on October 13, 1996, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Stonewall.

The youngest of five, Camry was always the center of attention. She had a happy childhood whether it be on horseback at the ranch, on the ball field, or hanging with her family and friends. Throughout her youth, she excelled in softball, showed steers and goats, was crowned Little Miss Peach, was on the FHS Homecoming Court and was the 2013 Gillespie County Fair Queen. She was active in the St. Francis Xavier youth group, 4H, FFA, FCCLA and was a standout high school softball player. Camry was gifted and talented and so much of what she strived to achieve she accomplished.

Camry attended St. Mary’s Catholic School from Kindergarten through eighth grade and was a 2014 graduate of Fredericksburg High School. In fall 2014 she enrolled in Angelo State University where she was a walk-on Rambelle softball player her freshman year and was active in Kappa Delta Pi Honor Society. She graduated from ASU in May 2018 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. For two years she was a special education teacher in American Literature and assistant director of the drill team at Central High School in San Angelo.

In 2020 she moved back to her beloved Hill Country to fulfill her life-long dream of teaching Kindergarten. She spent two glorious weeks of teaching at Comfort ISD before receiving her diagnosis of Rhabdomyosarcoma. From there she transitioned from a Kindergarten teacher to a warrior. Camry clung to her faith during the good and the bad believing each day that she would overcome the disease. Her family and friends fought the fight with her. So many prayed for a miracle, for Divine Intervention, but as Camry's sickness progressed, we slowly came to the realization and understanding that what we were praying for was something that we already had. Camry was the miracle. Every person she encountered became a better person for having met her. Her faith, her strength, her beautiful heart and positive spirit and outlook on life influenced everyone around her for the better and will for many years to come.

Camry is survived by her father Len A. Weinheimer of Stonewall; mother Wanda and her husband Bertram Franz of Fredericksburg; fiancée Christopher Skokan of Fredericksburg; two brothers and two sisters, Chism and Kyla Weinheimer of New Mexico; Jetta and Chad Eckhardt of Fredericksburg; Lexus and Kameron Haecker of Stonewall; and Cord J. Weinheimer of Madisonville, Texas; nieces: Scout Eckhardt, Quinn Weinheimer and Tatum Haecker; and nephews: Crockett Eckhardt, Huck Eckhardt and Lawson Haecker: grandmother, Emma Smarr (Nanny) of Stonewall; grandfather, Roy E. Weinheimer (Pader) of Stonewall; and her favorite sidekick Hattie Mae. She was preceded in death by her grandfather James Smarr; and grandmother Bernice Weinheimer.

Camry has gifted all of us by leading by example. We feel truly blessed to be the family of such an incredible and beautiful human being. What a true blessing she was to all who knew her. Her beautiful smile, those signature dimples, and all the memories will live on in the countless lives of those she touched.

The family will greet friends on Sunday, May 8th from 3 to 6 pm in the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Stonewall with a Rosary Service at 5 pm.

On Monday, May 9th the family will greet friends from 2:30 to 4 pm in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Fredericksburg with the Mass of Resurrection at 4 pm.

Graveside services and interment will follow in the Stonewall Community Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Christopher Skokan, Chism Weinheimer, Cord Weinheimer, Chad Eckhardt, Kameron Haecker, Baylor Weinheimer and Matthew Skokan.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be given in her memory to the St. Mary’s School Endowment Fund, Hill Country Memorial Hospice, Stonewall V.F.D., or to the charity of your choice.
