Vernon David Norby, 84, of San Angelo passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2022 in Bronte.

Public viewing will be from 10:00 AM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, April 21, 2022 with graveside services at 2:00 PM Friday, April 22, 2022 in the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene. Arrangements are under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Mr. Norby was born on December 24, 1937 in Bemidji, Minnesota to Ole and Della Bishop Norby. Vernon joined the U. S. Army in 1954 and received the Bronze Star while serving in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged as a Master Sergeant in 1974. Vernon attended New Mexico Junior College graduating with an associates degree in Auto CAD. He was an independent long haul truck driver for over 20 years, traveling to every state in the Nation multiple times. Vernon married Mary Grace McFall on December 2, 1961. She passed away on March 18, 2017. He loved spending time with his wife and his family.

Vernon was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Bridget Norby and a brother, Gordon Norby.

Survivors include his son, J. D. Norby and wife Kathy of Hobbs, New Mexico; a daughter, Verena Grace Norby of Lubbock; three grandchildren, Cole Norby and wife Misty of Carlsbad, New Mexico, Austin Norby and wife Amber of Hobbs, New Mexico, and Nikki Hernandez of Lubbock; and eight great-grandchildren.

Tracy Lynn Lampkin, 55, of San Angelo passed away Monday, April 11, 2022 in San Angelo.

No services are scheduled at this time. Arrangements are under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Miss Lampkin was born August 14, 1966 in Los Angeles, California to Charles and Frances Mercer Lampkin. She worked as a clerk at McDonald's and Taco Bell. Tracy also worked at DNS Residential Services and was a supervisor at Concho Resource Center. She was a very loving and caring person and loved good food. She enjoyed reading her bible and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her son, David "D. J." Green, Jr.; a grandson, Jayden Green; four brothers, Charles Lampkin, Kelvin Lampkin, Trilstan Baskerville, and Jason Baskerville; a sister, Shannon Lampkin; and her mother-in-law, Ella Green.

Carl Eugene Mills died peacefully with his daughter by his side on March 28, 2022, in San Angelo, Texas, having gone down swinging in his battle against cancer. He was 65 years old. 

Carl was born July 30, 1956, in Plainfield, New Jersey, to parents, Robert Mills and Marie Mahovich Mills. He graduated from Parkland High School in El Paso, Texas, in 1975, and a few years later moved to San Angelo, Texas. Shortly afterwards he began his career at Goodyear Proving Grounds, a career which lasted nearly 45 years. Carl wore his Goodyear cap during his entire stay at the Shannon Medical Center. 

Carl is survived by his daughter, Jazz Lynn Mills, and his granddaughter, Ava Louise Mills Toccalino, of Austin, Texas; sister, Susan Jean Phillips (John) of La Luz, New Mexico; brother, Robert Joseph Mills (Vonnie), of Pocatello, Idaho; sister, Donna Marie Byers, Canyon, Texas; sister, Cynthia (Cinny) Louise Mills, Santa Fe, New Mexico, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents. 

A come-and-go celebration honoring Carl’s life will be held Sunday, May 15th, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Plateau Brewing Company, 214 South Chadbourne, San Angelo, Texas.  

Carl spoke often of simple kindnesses to him during his fight with cancer, which kept his spirits high. His co-workers at Goodyear called him regularly. He had the deepest respect for the nurses at the Shannon Oncology Center, who reflected consistent professionalism and compassion during his many treatments there. Carl talked about volunteering at the Center once his treatments were complete. The family is grateful to Dr. David A. Cummings, Dr. Frank Bozyan and the nurses and staff of ICU and 4-North, Shannon Hospital for their compassionate care. And a special thanks to James Skinner and Monica Valdez of the Smith,Rose,Finley law firm for their last-minute help.

John Martin Rodriguez, Jr., 85, of Vick passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2022 in San Angelo.

Public viewing will be from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM Monday, April 18, 2022 at Robert Massie Funeral Home with a Rosary at 6:00 PM. Local arrangements are under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home. Mr. Rodriguez will be buried in Coosa River Cemetery in Coosa River, Alabama under the direction of Ridout's-Brown-Service Prattville, Alabama.

Mr. Rodriguez was born on November 24, 1936 in Eola to Juan and Catilina Pertida Rodriguez. He graduated from Wall High School and attended Angelo State University. John served in the U. S. Air Force and did a tour in Vietnam. He retired after 33 years of service in 1990 as a Chief Master Sergeant. After retiring from the Air Force, John worked for Alyeska Pipeline Service Company and later for British Petroleum. He retired in 2001 as a consultant. John was a college boxer and softball player, he also played softball for the Air Force, and enjoyed basketball and judo. He was a Mason, a Shriner, and a member of St. Phillip Catholic Church in Eola. He was married to Josephine Jones who passed away in 2011. John later married Mary Broyles and she passed away in 2017.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Daniel Rodriguez.

Survivors include two sons, Steven Rodriguez of Vick and Joe Alfred Rodriguez and wife Valerie of Grovetown, Georgia; two sisters, Elida Rodriguez of Lakewood, Colorado and Maria "Vicky" Talavera of Chicago, Illinois; three grandchildren, Rhiannon Frantz and husband Daryl of Eatonville, Washington, Ashley Roberts and husband Jamaal of Anchorage, Alaska, and Danielle Rodriguez of Evans, Georgia; five great-grandchildren, Lathan Frantz, Eibhlean Frantz, Jack Frantz, Max Frantz, and Fearghail Frantz; and a significant other, Trini Rangel of San Angelo.

Lola Parker, 95, passed away on April 9, 2022, at the age of 95 in Flower Mound.

She was born Lola Mae Hendrix in Hico on November 25, 1926, to Jefferson and Opal Hendrix. Lola grew up in Hico, graduating from Hico High School in 1943. She moved to Dallas with her best friend Joyce Parker in 1945. After the war, she met James Parker and they were married on February 8, 1947. Jim and Lola moved to San Angelo in 1957 and she lived there until 2017 at which time Lola moved to Rosewood Assisted Living in Flower Mound. 

While in San Angelo, Lola was a long-time employee of General Telephone Company and subsequently retired from Verizon Communications in 1987. Jim and Lola were members of St. Luke United Methodist Church in San Angelo from 1957 until their respective deaths. Lola served on and chaired many committees and other functions while a member of the church, having been a charter member of the CIHU Sunday School Class and President of the for class for many years. She was also a charter member of the Concho Valley Telephone Pioneers Club which was a club for retirees of General Telephone/Verizon. She serviced on numerous committees and was president of the Pioneer Club for several years. Lola is preceded in death by her husband Jim of 58 years; her mother, Opal Sites; her father, Jefferson Hendrix; brother, Paul Hendrix; and sister-in-law Joyce Hitt and husband Woodrow. 

Lola is survived by her sister, Opal Leonard and husband Marden of Tennessee; brother, Tom Sites of Virginia; daughter, Pixie Clark of Corinth; son, Rick Parker and wife Karen of Mansfield; grandson. Chris Clark of Houston; grandson, Clint Clark and wife Julie of Flower Mound; great grandchildren, Grayson Clark and Kailyn Clark of Flower Mound, Scott Clark, Hannah Clark, and Haley Clark all of Houston; nephew, Glenn Hitt of Duncanville; niece, Diane Patton and husband Ed of Richmond, Virginia; niece, Opal Marie Leonard of Dallas; and nephew Deyo Leonard and wife Valerie of Tennessee. 

Funeral services are being handled by Robert Massie Funeral Home in San Angelo. Lola will be buried next to Jim at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens in San Angelo. Visitation will be at St. Luke United Methodist Church in San Angelo on Saturday, April 16, 2022 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM. Funeral service will be held immediately following visitation beginning at 11:00 AM officiated by Jim Clarke, a lifelong friend of the family.

Everleigh was born February 4, 2022 at Shannon Hospital. She brought joy, laughter, and love in her short time with us.

Jesus Enrique "Tooty" Parras, 49, passed away Sunday, April 3, 2022, in San Angelo.

Mr. Parras was born May 22, 1972 in Fort Riley, Kansas. Tooty has been a resident of San Angelo since 1985. He attended Lake View High School. Tooty was self-employed at Top Flight Security. His smile light up the room and he loved to make everyone laugh he was always the guy to make joke's. Tooty loved music and he loved to dance Tejano music, but his favorite thing to do was fishing with his brothers and family. Tooty enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Tooty loved his daughters, mother, sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He will always be "Our Champ".

Survivors include his three daughters, Maria Fernandez and husband Edgar of San Antonio, Xandra Parras and fiancé Jessica Jimenez, and Emerald Parras all of San Angelo; his Pitbull, Cookies; his mother, Frances Parras of San Angelo; two brothers, Ollie Parras, Jr. and Alonzo Parras both of San Angelo; three sisters, Cynthia Garza, Jennifer Smart and husband Keith all of San Angelo, and Dakota Parras of South Dakota; four grandchildren, Mark Antony Rodriguez, Jordan Donnell Rodriguez, Lina Fernandez, and Zane Fernandez, Jr. Tooty was preceded in death by his father, Ollie Parras, Sr.

For months, Charlene looked forward to going home, and although for several weeks she had been resting at her longtime residence outside of San Angelo, Tx., she still had a desire to “go home.” On Friday, April 8th, 2022, Charlene went home. Her life will be honored with a Rosary Service Tuesday, April 12th at 6:00 p.m. at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Wall, and a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 13th also at St. Ambrose. 

Charlene Marie Book was born on July 19th,1939, in San Angelo, Tx. To Ben and Viola Book. She graduated from Wall High School in 1957. Charlene was active in several activities while attending WHS like playing women’s basketball and being the first twirler for Wall High School. Charlene graduated from San Angelo College with a degree in Education where she went on to be a school teacher and librarian before she married Andrew Wilde in 1960. She became a cherished Wife, Homemaker, and Mother and remained so until her last day. She enjoyed farm and ranch life and was an integral part of the family farm with her husband Andrew. She hauled countless cotton trailers, grain trucks, and stock trailers while raising four children.  

Charlene was an active member in the Wall community and St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Wall, Tx. Her lifelong service was being the chair of the Church decorating committee as part of the St. Helen’s Altar Society. She served as the chairlady of the committee for 43 years. During that time, she helped hundreds of newly married couples with the flowers and decorations at their weddings. Charlene became the first woman to be elected to the St. Ambrose Church Council and went on to serve as President of the Council. She served two terms in the St. Ambrose Church Council as well as serving on the building committee and liturgy committee. 

Charlene was a Parish Festival Chair Lady and served as the chair of the festival decorating committee. She was also active in numerous organizations within the community such as Meals for the Elderly, Tom Green County 4-H, Wall FFA, Carmelite Sisters Lady of Grace Ministry and St. Ambrose Lifeteen. In 2006, Charlene was named as the Region II Conservation Homemaker of the Year by the Tom Green County Soil and Water Conservation agency. In 2006, she was also named as an Honorary FFA member by the Wall Chapter of the FFA.  

Charlene was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Viola Book, and younger brother, Joseph Book who died as an infant. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Andrew Wilde. Four Children: James Wilde and wife Christine, Ben Wilde and wife Betsy, Connie McCrea and husband Jeff, and Chris Wilde and wife Amy. Charlene and Andrew were blessed with numerous grandchildren who all loved the time they were able to spend with her: Kate Barnett and husband Travis, Grant Wilde and wife Emily, Meridith Harris and husband Colton, Ashley Wilde, Grady McCrea, Grace and Chandler Wilde. Six great grandchildren: Claire and Trey Barnett, Zachary and Kara Wilde, Weston and Avery Harris. She is also survived by her three siblings: Viola Mae Book, Cheryl Book, Larry Book and his wife Nancy. The family would also like to thank Charlene’s own special care Angels who helped to make her last weeks with us more peaceful: Laura from the High Plains Senior Care and special care givers: Lenora, Helen, Kristle, and Latonya. 

Charlene’s family was the joy and love of her life. She attended thousands of events to watch and support her children and grandchildren in school and extra-curricular activities. She was a loving and dedicated Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Friend to all who knew her. One of she and Andrew’s most treasured project, was the dedication of the “Angel Garden” in the St. Ambrose Catholic Cemetery. Dedicated to honoring the lost graves of migrant farm children who died while traveling to work the fields with their parents. Up until her last days on earth, those children were so important to her. We eventually came to know that she was important to them as well, as she kept telling us that there were “little children playing around her bed.” She was concerned that we should get them home. Little did we know, they were there to bring her home! 

The family asks that memorials be made to the Monsignor Alvin Wilde Seminary Education Fund, the St. Ambrose Lifeteen, or favorite charity.

Edward Powell Brininstool, 88, passed away on April 6, 2022. He was born to Brooks Powell Brininstool and Rose Scheuer, on January 23, 1934, in Carlsbad, New Mexico. He went to school in Jal, New Mexico, where he lettered in football, basketball, baseball and track. He went to New Mexico A.& M, (now New Mexico State), in Las Cruces, NM on a football scholarship, and graduated with a Mechanical Engineering degree. He went to work at Magnolia oil co (now Mobil/Exxon) until the Air Force called him. He married Doris Arlelle Guess, on Dec 28, 1957 (and was married for 64 years until his death). 

He started his military career as a maintenance officer at Biggs AFB, El Paso. He went to pilot training at Laredo AFB, then to Vandenberg AFB, California, where he was an engineer on the missile sites, 
developing, testing and designing and testing Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (ICBM) before NASA and the space flights to the moon. (Atlas D and Titan 2 missiles). He was then sent to the Pentagon during the Viet Nam war. Ed was then sent to Norfolk, VA, for NATO Armed Forces Staff College, followed by the Inspector Generals Office for inspecting Research and Development bases all over the world. 

He was then sent to LAAFS (Los Angeles Air Force Station) where he was program manager for AF satellite programs. He retired from the Air Force as a Lt Colonel, on August 1, 1979. 
He and Arlelle moved to San Angelo and built their dream home next to Spring Creek, in the Dove Creek Subdivision, where he was on the volunteer fire department, the architectural control committee, and the Dove Creek Water Board. His great loves were digging mesquites, hunting with friends, and of course, his family. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Joseph William Brininstool and Carl David Brininstool. He is survived by his wife, Arlelle, son Michael (Janna), daughters Sharon (John Cleveland) and Robbin Brininstool; grandchildren, Andrew Brininstool, Christopher Brininstool, Erin Chapman (Dan) and Zachary Brininstool; 5 great grand children; sisters Rosemary Hindes, and Bernadette Brininstool, brother Brooks Brininstool, and sister in law, JoAnn Brininstool, as well as many cousins and friends. 

The family wishes to thank Dr Chang, Dr Wurster, Dr Cheruku, Dr Studt, and their wonderful staffs. 
A celebration of Ed's life will be at Holy Angels Catholic Church, Tuesday, April 12, 2022. Rosary will be at 9:45, Mass at 10:15, Military honors, and visiting in the hall with a light lunch and sharing memories.
