Evelyn Barkley passed away on August 27, 2021. She is now in the arms of her husband Jerry Barkley whom she has grieved for since November 2019. She was born September 23,1936 in Mt. Holly, New Jersey to William and Velva Stephens. Evelyn’s first marriage of 25 years gave her the opportunity to travel as a military wife and reside in places like Japan, Norway, Ohio, Kansas and Florida.
After moving to Texas in 1974 Evelyn worked at the Standard times as a night manager in the print department for several years and worked at Café Rio as a hostess. She did secretarial work at Delos Oil and gas for about a year. Evelyn volunteered at Holiman Elementary for approximately 10 years and she loved the teachers and children.

Evelyn met her forever love in 1988 and they married a year later. Their 31 years together was adventurous and fun. They traveled to many places to enjoy gambling, country music and the ocean. Evelyn was always mowing her field, and anyone else’s road if she could. She loved being outdoors and helping her husband with longhorns, brahmas and goats. She would name the goats the minute they were born so they could not be BBQ’d. Evelyn would even help her husband on many of his jobs if he could not find good help.

Evelyn’s heart was as big as they come and would do anything for anybody. She loved being kind and giving. If somebody needed a couch, she would give them hers where she could go get another one. Jerry just grinned and went along with her.

Evelyn us survived by one sister Lorraine Winemiller of New Jersey, a son Lonnie Wolfe and wife Wendie of Marion, Texas, a daughter Patti Patterson and husband Charlie of San Angelo, grandson Mathew Tolbert and wife Ashley. Ila Ray (Shorty) Stanford

08/30/2021 - 09:41 , by TKing09

IIa Ray (Shorty) Stanford, of Kermit TX died on August 27, 2021, at the age of 78. Her passing was a grand birthday gift as she was born on the same date, August 27, 1943, in Balmorhea, Texas to James Morris Layton and Bobbie Pauline Stephens. She spent most of her life in Odessa, Texas but she graduated from Mary Carroll High School in Corpus Christi, Texas. It was in Corpus Christi that, through a mutual friend, she met and married Fred Stanford, the love of her life - they married February 9, 1962. Together, Shorty and Fred forged a life, a family and several small businesses, Stanford Construction, Builder’s Tools & Fasteners, and Wood Products. She was a member of the First Christian Disciples of Christ Church in Odessa Texas and attended faithfully until her move to Kermit, Texas.

Though she was a tireless worker who managed a business and a home, Shorty found her greatest joy in her family. She was ever the loving, affectionate mother, and grandmother and hardly a conversation came from her lips that she was not speaking proudly of her family. Shorty lived up to her name as a diminutive figure, but she had a feisty personality, and one generally knew exactly what she thought about most subjects! She loved going to the lake with family and friends, water skiing and tubing. Shorty and Fred loved ocean cruises and were able to make many voyages over the years. Anyone who new Shorty understood what an animal lover she was and Peaches, her cat, will surely miss her.
She is survived by two children Pamela Denise Stanford Glander of San Angelo, Texas and Frederick Blake Stanford, daughter-in-law Melanie Karol Taylor Stanford, of Omaha, Nebraska. Shorty is also survived by six grandchildren Michaela Glander Ramirez, Victoria Sloane Glander, Shelby Taylor Stanford, Christopher Blake Stanford, Cassidy Paige Stanford and Rayla Payton Glander, four great-grand-children, Zane Ramirez, Greyson Ramirez, Brody Ramirez, Lakeleigh Gross, sister Patsy Layton brother, Robert Lee Stanford and wife Sue Stanford, nephews Aaron Stanford, Stephen Stanford, Josh Layton, and nieces Penny Stanford, Dina Stanford La’Bossaura.

She was preceded in death by her husband Fred Stanford, her sister Guyneth Layton Stanford and husband Billy Stanford, son-in-law Michael Glander, and beloved springer spaniel Pepper.
Services will be held at 2pm Tuesday, August 31st at Harper Funeral Home in San Angelo TX.

"You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure".

Beronica "Betty" Guadarrama Gamez, 79, went home to be with Jesus Sunday, August 22, 2021, in San Angelo.

She was born in 1940 to Elias and Tiodora Guadarrama. For many years grandma owned Betty's Trading Post and other small "shops" in flea markets around Angelo. She loved finding treasures at garage sales and sharing the word of God. She would often minister to whoever she encountered and made sure to have bibles on hand to give out. She is preceded in death by her sons, Mario and David; her sisters Estella, Carolina, Yolanda, Dora Elia, and Guiermina; her brothers, Manuel and Héctor; and both parents.

She is survived by her children, Osiel Gamez and wife Barbara, Verrnis Addison, Linda Gamez, Sonia Davis and husband Nakarin, and Gracie Partida; her 15 beloved grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; her brother, Elias Guadarrama; and sister, Mary Elizabeth Rodriguez; and numerous nephews and nieces.

Grandma, your unconditional love, words of wisdom, and all your teachings will never be forgotten. Thank you for raising us to be who we are, to be the family we are.
