Ramon Sanchez Florez, 92, passed away on Tuesday, February 3, 2015.
Rosary will be at 6:00 pm Thursday, February 5, 2015 at the Robert Massie Riverside Chapel.
Mass will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, February 6, 2015 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Father Joey Faylona officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery. Arrangements are with Robert Massie Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Roy Contreras; Saul Contreras; Sammy Gatica; Joshua Gatica; Aaron Florez; and great grandson, Joseph Aguilar.
Ramon was born January 2, 1923 to Jesus and Dolores Florez in Nava, Mexico. He married Rosa Hernandez on July 22, 1946 in San Angelo. He served in the military during WW II as a medic in the 91st Infantry Division Company C.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosa Florez; brothers, Pablo and Manuel Florez.
Survived by sons, Ramon H. Florez; Israel Florez; Noe Florez; Edward Florez; daughters, Velma Contreras; and Sylvia Gatica.

Celeste Barbara (Centrella) Allen"Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain; but a woman that fears the Lord, she shall be praised." Proverbs 31:30Wife, Mother, Daughter, Sister, Aunt, Friend. Teacher, Shelterer, Protector, Spiritual Shepherd.Her early years were in New York's Italian neighborhoods, before a move to Pleasantville where she grew up. She graduated with honors from Albertus Magnus College in 1960, and went to work for the New Haven Register. In New Haven, she met the young Air Force language student who would became her husband, Bill.They married in December 1962 at Goodfellow Air Force Base. Celeste worked at the San Angelo Standard-Times. Daughters Maura and Jane were born here; shortly after, a military assignment took them to the Philippines and Taiwan, where Celeste learned the challenges and joys of life as a military wife and family, and the joys of Chinese cooking. She also met dear friends that became extended family, and with whom Chinese New Year celebrations and Easter Sundays in Junction have been celebrated for decades. The family came back to San Angelo, and Celeste's education career began as a teaching assistant at Fort Concho Elementary in 1973. She went back to school at Angelo State University to pursue her Texas certification and Masters, and then stayed on as part of the Education faculty. Travels to Germany and Greece were highlights, especially when Bill or her family could join her, and trips to Europe and Alaska with the San Antonio bunch. Times spent at the Texas coast with were most treasured.An avid reader and lifelong learner, she treasured her early edition paperbacks as much as a new-age digital copy. She also loved the Bible, and took the opportunity to join the staff of Holy Angels in 2003, after retiring from ASU. She led RCIA classes and Bible studies, and brought many people in to the Church through her efforts, but never stopped her own exploring about God's Grace.She never had a harsh word for anyone, always finding the grace in everyone she encountered. Wisdom, humility and patience were ever at her side. She raised her daughters to be strong, faith-filled and independent, teaching them most by example. Her circle of friends was large. She was the wind beneath all of our wings. Facing a Parkinson's diagnosis, Celeste kept giving, exploring Tai Chi and other programs as part of an ASU study, participating in the local Parkinson's group, and continuing to learn to live with the disease, but not be ruled by it.Celeste was preceded in death by parents, James Celestino and Rosa Mascali Centrella, sisters Genevieve Goble and Mary Ellen Hemphill, and too many nieces and nephews. She is survived by her daughters, Jane Allen, Maura Gast and Maura's husband Marty, of Flower Mound, Texas; sister Bernice Schweinfest of Ossining, NY; nieces and nephews; and her extended military family.Husband Bill was the light of her life; daughters Jane and Maura the true apples of her eye. Son-in-law Marty a joyful addition to the family.It is said that if in a Christian marriage, the husband is the thermostat, then Celeste was truly the radiant barrier. Not necessarily visible to the naked eye, but dutifully protecting all from the extremes. Well done, good and faithful servant.The Memorial Mass will be 10:00 A.M., Friday, February 6, 2015 at Holy Angel's Catholic Church with Rev. Charles Greenwell as celebrant. Inurnment will follow in Holy Angels Columbarium.In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be considered for the Michael J. Curtis Arnold “Papa Bear” Cozby, 80, passed away peacefully on Monday February 2, 2015.

Coach Cozby’s life both on and off the football field was an illustration of a compassionate, caring and giving man who touched the lives of so many individuals.

A memorial service will be at 2:00 pm on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at the Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Arrangements are with Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Curtis was born on February 1, 1935 in Gorman, Texas to Curtis Pounds and Mattie Sue (Slaughter) Cozby. Curtis grew up in De Leon, Texas and went on to attend Howard Payne University where he excelled in football, setting numerous records and received a bachelor’s degree in Accounting. He then furthered his education by obtaining a master’s degree and counselor’s certification from Texas A&M University.

Curtis was an educator of the San Angelo Independent School District for over 30 years where he coached and mentored many student athletes. After his retirement, Curtis was an active member of the San Angelo Retired Teachers Association.

Curtis married Joan Poulter Cozby in 1981. They enjoyed 33 years of marriage. Curtis and Joan loved traveling and reminiscing about family and friends.

Curtis was preceded in death by his wife, Joan; parents, Curtis and Mattie Sue; sister, Dorothy Ann Cozby; son, Mark Alan Cosby; and a grandson, Paul Alan Cozby.

Curtis is survived by his son, Curtis Lynn Cozby and his wife Olga of Devine, Texas; grandson, Lon Ellis Cozby of Devine, Texas; granddaughter, Caitlin Anne Couch and her husband Jerod of Burnet, Texas; granddaughter, Stephanie Lowrance of Cedar Park, Texas; great grandson, Aden Wayne Couch of Burnet, Texas; step daughter, Kimberly Hatem of San Angelo, Texas; stepson, Charles Hatem of Everett, WA; nephew, Michael Poulter and his wife Patricia of San Angelo, Texas; many dear friends and his favorite buddy, Rusty, his apricot toy poodle.

Manuel Vega Rodriguez, 89 went to be with the Lord on Thursday January 29, 2015 at an area care center.

Viewing will be 8am to 8pm Saturday January 31, 2015and 1pm to 5pm on Sunday February 1, 2015 at Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Manuel was born on April 4, 1925 to Secundino and Guadalupe (Vega) Rodriguez in Rio Grande City. Manuel worked in Slaton managing cotton fields and later worked at Angelo Pellets and retired from SAISD. On April 20, 1955, he married Dolores Herrera in Mexico. Manuel and Dolores lived in San Angelo, Texas.

He loved his grandchildren and spending quality time with them, traveling to visit his family in the Valley, John Wayne movies and westerns.

He was preceded in death by mother, Guadalupe( Vega) Rodriguez, father, Secundino Rodriguez.

Manuel is survived by loving spouse of 59 years, Dolores, daughters, Imelda (Amy) Luera and husband, Ringo of San Angelo, Anita Rodriguez; sons, Mike Rodriguez and wife, Nancy, serving his country in Japan and Manuel Rodriguez Jr.; grandson, Balente M. Gonzales and wife, Gracie of Taylor, TX; two granddaughters, Angelica C. Luera, Johnnie Rae Luera, both of San Angelo, two great-grandsons, Mike Anthony Rodriguez, Andres M. Gonzales; four great-granddaughters, Alani Marie Rodriguez, Layla Elise Zeric, Justice Runae Ward, and Ysabella O. Gonzales

David Gene Franks was born Oct. 15, 2930, to Tommy Franks and Thelma Sesson Franks in Sonora, Texas. Growing up in the depression to a game warden and a waitress, he lived in many different Texas cities.He was drafted into the Army in 1951 as a Ranger and was sent home in 1952, after the tragic death of his father in Fort Stockton.In 1953, he moved to Angelo, working odd jobs but eventually in front-end alignments for Sid Lumley. In 1955, with the help of his charm, race skills and his 1932 Coupe, he met Kay Koon. They were soon married.In 1969, he opened his own front-end alignment shop on 5th Street, then in the late 1970s moved to Good Year Proving Grounds to work on trucks and front ends. In his spare time, he raced drag boats, which at the time of his death, he still owned. He also loved working on old cars, especially his 1927 Ford and 1956 Chevy.He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; uncles and cousins.He is survived by wife of 58 years, Kay of San Angelo; daughter Gena Franks-Hughs and husband Mark; and his sister and brother-in-law, Jan and Perry Richardson of Del Rio.In lieu of flowers, please give to Hospice of San Angelo or the Humane Society of San Angelo.A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, 2015, in the chapel at Johnson's Funeral Home

John Joseph Moran, 81, passed away on February 2, 2015.
He was born October 16, 1933 in Kilkenny, Ireland to Thomas Moran and Ellen Kinchella Moran.
John came to the US after high school and enlisted in the US Air Force in 1953. He became a US citizen while in the service before being discharged in 1961.
He met his wife Luetta while they were both stationed in San Antonio, TX. They were married there and were together for thirty-two years. She preceded him in death in 1993.
John enjoyed sports and family. He was a lifelong Cowboys fan and also enjoyed watching the Texas Rangers. He enjoyed get togethers with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and two brothers, Michael and Frank.
John is survived by five sons; Mike Moran and wife Sharon, Tommy Moran and wife Julie, Mark Moran, Tony Moran and wife Kathryn and Sean Moran and wife Darla; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren; two sisters Marie Power and Teresa Moran both of Ireland; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to thank the staff of Gentiva Hospice for their care and support.
