John Edward Lacy, 70, of San Angelo, passed away on Sunday, November 22, 2015 at a local hospital.
He was born on June 23, 1945 to Claude and Dessie (McKinney) Lacy in San Angelo. He attended school at Central High School. Rev. Lacy retired from the US Navy after serving over 22 years.
After retiring he served as the Pastor of Christian Fellowship Baptist Church for a number of years, as well as serving as a postal carrier for 13 years.
He was a former president of the San Angelo Chapter of the NAACP as well as the San Angelo Ministerial Alliance
Rev. Lacy is survived by his two daughters, Montoya Ward-Mitchell of Midland and Johnetta Lacy Banks of San Diego, CA; seven grandchildren, one great grandchild ; three sisters, Bonnie Lacy Willis of Dallas, Billie Jean Lacy of Austin, Shirley Jean Ray of Arlington, TX; brother, Bobby Dean Lacy of San Angelo.
He was preceded in death by father, Claude Lacy, Sr., mother, Dessie Lacy, brother, Claude Lacy, Jr. and sister, Jimmie Ruth Lacy.
Visitation will be held Friday, November 27, 2015, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Robert Massie Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 28, 2015, 11:00 am at the Christian Fellowship Baptist Church with Dr. Fredd B. Adams, officiating.
Burial will take place in the Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Abilene at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, November 30.
