McWilliams Carpathia Olsen

Carpathia McWilliams, 84, passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2014 peacefully at Rotary House of Hope in San Angelo, TX. Funeral Services will be held Sunday, January 4, 2015 at 1:00 pm at the Robert Massie Riverside Chapel with Chaplain Kevin McSpadden officiating. Interment will follow at Miles Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Robert Massie Funeral Home, 402 Rio Concho Drive, Saturday, January 3, 2015 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Arrangements are with Robert Massie Funeral Home.
Carpathia Olsen McWilliams was born November 3, 1930 to Christian “Jack” Olsen and Estelle Moorman Olsen in San Angelo, Texas. She graduated from San Angelo Central High School and completed her professional training as a medical laboratory technician. Carpathia married her beloved husband, Charles McWilliams, in June of 1949 sharing their lives together in a wonderful marriage. She worked at Shannon Clinic where she was a dedicated employee, enjoying every moment of serving and caring for others. She retired with a continued passion for the medical profession, while also enjoying travel, time with friends and family, and close relationships with those from her church family at First Assembly of God. Carpathia was a faithful Christian, loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will be remembered by her passion for fulfilling prayer requests and her love for recounting stories of her family, including her Danish and German heritage. She will be truly missed.
She was preceded in death by husband Charles McWilliams and daughter Christi Woodward.
Carpathia is survived by her brother, Mike Olsen, of San Angelo, TX; daughter, Dorcas Kyan Garrison and husband, Garner, of Lubbock, TX; son-in-law, Denny Woodward, of Altus, OK; her five grandchildren, Christa Tucker Murray and husband, Jeff, of Prosper, TX; Kina Garrison Wilkening and husband, Wes, of Charleston, SC; Joshua Woodward and wife, Ariel, of Altus, OK; Curt Garrison of Stephenville, TX; Cole Garrison and wife, Tara, of Fort Worth, TX; and 9 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made in Carpathia Olsen McWilliams’ name to the San Angelo Fire Department, 306 W. 1st, San Angelo, TX 76903 or Baptist Memorial Center, P.O. Box 5661, San Angelo, TX 76903.

Long Lohse Edith Maxine

Edith Maxine Lohse, 69, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, after a long illness.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, in Johnson's Funeral Home Chapel of San Angelo with Salvation Army Major Fran Kasarjian officiating. Burial to follow in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.

She was born Nov. 9, 1945, in San Angelo and attended Lake View Schools, before being married to Jerry Lohse on Aug. 9, 1963. They recently observed their 51st anniversary.

A long work career led Maxine to jobs in the apparel manufacturing field, including the Levi Strauss Co. She also worked at Sears, and most recently behind the lunch counter at Hudman Drug. She also plied her trade as a trained hair stylist.

With an unwavering devotion to her family, she was affectionately called "Mac" by everyone. Counselor, protector, listener and helper, she was compelled to help carry the burden of those who knew they could depend on her.

"Mac" loved Thanksgiving and always left a place at the table for those who had nowhere to go on the most American of holidays. She delivered many meals to those who could not get to her house. Her guests will always remember her generosity.

Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Karen Miller of Austin, Darla Harper of San Antonio, and Teresa Riley of San Angelo; four brothers, James "Teddy" Long and wife Ann, Clifford Long and wife Robie, Aubrey Long and wife Tammy, and Afton Long and wife Nancy; three sisters, Edna Ruth Young and husband Don, Ava Lois Hunt and husband Gary, and Zena Beth Williamson, all of San Angelo, nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

"Mac" was preceded in death by her parents, James "Shorty" and Neoma Long, and twin infant sons, Ricky Gene Lohse and Mickey Dean Lohse.

Bates William Newell

William Newell Bates, 69, died December 30, 2014 in San Angelo, Texas after a short battle with cancer. He will be greatly missed by family and friends, and will be remembered as a great brother, son, uncle, and friend to many.
William Newell Bates was born in Brady, Texas on December 30, 1945 to Frank Cecil Bates and Mattie Louise Sprott. After graduating from Central High School in San Angelo, he worked in auto repair body shops in Texas, New Mexico, and Colorado doing what he loved to do best, repairing wrecked automobiles. He was very good at what he did and was proud of the work that he turned out. He also loved to sit and watch a good auto race on TV. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Cecil Bates. Survivors include his mother, Mattie Louise Bates; one sister, Frances Gordon and her husband Ken; one brother, Frank Cecil Bates, Jr. and his wife Ann; plus many nieces and nephews.
The Bates family would like to thank the employees of Regency House Senior Care and Gentiva Hospice for the loving care they gave Bill during his brief illness. A private burial for the family will be set at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice or Gentiva Hospice of San Angelo.

Jesus A. Reyna, 83, passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2014, in San Angelo. He was born October 5, 1931, in Karnes City, Texas, to Antonio Reyna and Petra Arce. He is survived by his devoted wife, Irene G. Reyna and by his loving daughter, Imelda Reyna.

Visitations are from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. Saturday, January 3, 2015, and continue from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Sunday, January 4, at Gutierrez Funeral Chapels/North. A Prayer Service is scheduled for 6:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home. A Chapel Service will take place Monday, January 5, at 11:00 A.M. Interment will follow at Belvedere Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Gutierrez Funeral Chapels/North, 1002 N. Oakes St., San Angelo, Texas, 76903, (325) 658-5995.

Jerry Monroe Fountain, 73, passed away Monday, December 29, 2014. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 5, 2015 at Shaffer Funeral Home’s Sherwood Way Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home/Sherwood Way.
Jerry was born on November 29, 1941 in San Angelo, TX to David and Iva Jean Fountain. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge as well as the Eastern Star. He enjoyed golfing and dancing. Jerry loved people, he had a good sense of humor and always had a good story to tell.
He was preceded in death by his parents; uncles and aunts, Jay and Von Fountain, Clifford Fountain; sister, Wretha Blakeney and husband Robert; mother-in-law, Marjorie Niemi.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Betty) Fountain; brother, David Fountain and wife Mary Lou of Glenrock, WY; father-in-law, Harley W. Niemi; sister-in-law, Patty Sims; brother-in-laws, Bill Niemi and wife Kati, Robert Niemi and wife Roberta; numerous nieces and nephews.

Kerry James “Pops” Hall, 57, of Bronte went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 26, 2014 while in Dallas. Services will be held at 10am, Monday, December 29, 2014 at First Baptist Church in Bronte, with Jeff Gilliam officiating. Services are under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home.
Kerry was born in San Pedro, California to Sonny and Jeanette (Holt) Hall. He attended Winters High School, and moved to Bronte in 1990 where he was owner and operator of Hall’s Super Save. Later he and son, Brian, opened B&K Processing in 1994. Kerry and Shalon Cooper Gibbs married on May 22, 2010.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Jeanette, in 2006.
Kerry is survived by his wife Shalon Gibbs Hall of Bronte; loving children, Brian Hall of Bronte, Kim Hall Graves and husband, Jack of San Angelo, Brandon Hall and Chandra of San Angelo, Casey Gibbs and wife, Jackey of San Angelo, and Anthony Gibbs of Abilene; six grandchildren; father, Sonny Hall and wife, Nora; five brothers, Steve Hall and wife Cindy of Coleman; Freddy Hall and wife, Holly of Jacksboro, Kevin Hall and wife, Sherry of Kingsland, Jimmy Hall and wife, Jennifer of Liberty Hill and Eddie Hall and wife, Nancy of Flower Mound , along with numerous nieces and nephews.
