Patricia Ann Rooney Taylor

08/21/2023 - 18:31 , by TKing09

Our loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Patricia Ann (Rooney) Taylor received her angel wings on Thursday, August 17, 2023. Pat was born on June 8, 1938, to Henry Michael and Margaret Marie (Higgins) Rooney in Lincoln, Nebraska. She grew up in Lincoln and graduated from Pius X Catholic High School in 1957.

Pat met the love of her life in 1957 while Gary was stationed at Lincoln Air Force Base. The story goes that Gary and a friend of his followed Pat and her girlfriend to a dance hall in downtown Lincoln. Pat, at first, played hard to get but eventually Gary won her heart. They often spoke of walking everywhere on their dates as Gary, a young airman, didn’t have a car. Gary would walk to pick up Pat at her house on Pear Street and walk her back home before returning to the base – many times stopping on the steps of a nearby Methodist Church for a little talking and smooching. They married on June 30, 1958, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and soon moved to Gary’s next duty station in Merced, California. Over the following 20 years, Pat was the supportive and dedicated military wife, raising their family in Illinois, Florida, and Japan, ultimately retiring in San Angelo in 1974. For many years Pat worked in the local school cafeterias which allowed her to be home with the children. She ended her career with the San Angelo ISD as the cafeteria manager at Fort Concho Elementary School in 1999.

Pat was the glue for the family and was responsible for raising her children to love and embrace their faith in the Catholic Church. The greatest testament to the family’s love and faith was the 2018 Anniversary Alaskan Cruise which celebrated a total of 226 years of marriage which continues today. Pat was a big hugger and gave them freely to anyone and everyone she encountered every day. The pandemic offered some challenges with those hugs, but she quickly adapted with fist bumps. Pat was also extremely good at ensuring everyone in the immediate and extended family received hand-signed cards to celebrate every occasion.

Pat is survived by her devoted husband, Gary; five children, Kathy (Charlie) Keane of San Angelo, Allan (Cindy) Taylor of Houston, Gina (Bob) Poynor of McKinney, Ron (Beth) Taylor of Anna, and Angie (Bill) Ingram of Little Elm; twelve grandchildren, Mike (Candess) Keane, Joe (Savannah) Keane, Laura Poynor, Jill Taylor, Scott (Judy) Keane, Lisa (Ieshia) Hayes, Matt (Misty) Taylor, Chris (Paige) Taylor, Brooke Taylor, Greg Taylor, TJ (Sarah) Poynor, and Kristen Taylor; six great-grandchildren, Grayson, Nayeli, Hensley and Scott, Jr. Keane and Jackson, Kyle and Bradley Taylor as well as two additional Taylors due later this year; sister, Marie Eastlund of Minnesota; and several nieces and nephews.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Joseph Taylor; four sisters, Bonnie (Bob) Hanneman, Annie (Rex) Gannon, Theresa (Ken) Basse, Christine (Santo) Arrigo; and four brothers, John (Ruby) Rooney, Mike Rooney, Ed Rooney, and Jim Rooney.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 25th from 4-6 pm followed by a Rosary at 6 pm at Harper Funeral Home, 2606 Southland Blvd, San Angelo. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church, 2619 Era Street, by Fr. Josh Gray on Saturday, August 26th at 10:30 am. A private family burial will be held at a later date. Pallbearers will be grandsons with honorary pallbearers being granddaughters. Special thanks go out to the nurses, CNAs and staff at Regency House, especially Jaz, Jerry, Lesha and Shalina, and Vicki, Cindy, Jo and Alice at Concho Hearts Hospice for their loving care of mom during her last days. In memory of Pat, practice kindness and offer a hug and smile freely to those in your life. Memorials can be made to St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church.

Joseph Lane Caskey

08/17/2023 - 17:10 , by live

It is with broken hearts that we announce an unwelcome journey of a life cut short.  On August 9, 2023, Joseph Lane Caskey’s physical journey ended, his spiritual journey began.

Born on January 20, 1964, in Lamesa, TX, Lane was the fifth child of Barbara & Hermon Caskey. Being one of “the infamous Caskey boys,” Lane made his debut in Lamesa with his four other siblings anxiously peering through the maternity ward window at the Lamesa hospital.  This curly haired cutie was a delightful addition to the Caskey clan and he quickly learned to fall in step behind the leadership of his three older brothers. As a toddler, Mom found him atop the storage building in the backyard.  This was only the beginning of many escapades throughout the childhood, adolescence and adulthood of this fun loving man.

A 1982 graduate of Lamesa High School, Lane completed his post-secondary education at Angelo State University in 1987. His 33 year career was spent as a Workers’ Compensation Claims Management Specialist for Texas Municipal League in Austin, TX.  Lane and Marty raised their three boys in Georgetown, TX, where Lane was a golf enthusiast. He was devoted to his boys’ well being, was actively involved in their academic development and was proud of their accomplishments. Christmases spent skiing in New Mexico became a family tradition. His fatherhood and family life were Lane’s most treasured assets.     Lane was preceded in death by his father, John Hermon Caskey.  Survivors include sons Kyle, Cory & David Caskey of Georgetown; mother Barbara Caskey of San Angelo; siblings Pam Harper and husband Joe of Midland; Steve Caskey of Big Spring; William Caskey and wife Janet of San Angelo; Jim Caskey and wife Stacee of Sherman; Marty Caskey of Georgetown. At the risk of forgetting to name all of the people precious to us in this journey, other survivors grieving his passing include many in-laws, nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family and so many special friends.

The entire family appreciates the outpouring of love during this difficult time.  Arrangements are being provided by the Ramsey Funeral Home of Georgetown, TX.

Candace Jean Farrell Henry

08/17/2023 - 14:06 , by TKing09

Candace Jean Farrell Henry, 73, passed Wednesday, August 9, 2023, in San Angelo, Texas. Known to most as Candy, she was born in Wareham, Massachusetts on April 28, 1950, to William and Edna Farrell. Candy was the second of 3 children and as the daughter of an Air Force pilot and military family she had a childhood filled with many adventures and experiences living in the US and abroad. Candy spoke most often of her childhood time spent living in Bolivia and her formative years in New Hampshire and the northeast which imprinted on her many interests and talents.

Candy graduated high school in Portsmouth, Massachusetts in June 1967 and completed her secondary education at Angelo State University attaining both her Bachelor of Arts degree in English and later her Master’s Degree in Teaching Arts in English and Spanish. Before beginning her teaching career, Candy worked in the admission offices at Angelo State University and Blinn College in College Station. Upon returning to San Angelo Candy began her 17-year career teaching English and Spanish at various stops including college level students during various periods of her career. She taught English Language Arts to middle school students at Edison Junior High in San Angelo, Texas and later in South Texas at La Joya Junior High. She finished her teaching career commuting from San Angelo to Eldorado where she taught high school Spanish.

Candy married Bradley C. Henry on February 2, 1970, and continued her life adventures with her newly made family adding stops in Biloxi, Mississippi where her son Will was born, followed by a short stint in California and later Othello, Washington where the family became four when Benjamin was born. Once Brad’s Air Force service ended the family settled in San Angelo, Texas where she spent most of her life and raised her family.

Candy was a devoted and dearly loved mother, grandmother, teacher, and friend. She had the biggest heart for all living things and was loved by her many pets and rescue animals. There are far too many stories to tell and memories to mention but the only certainty is she will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.

She is survived by her sons and their families: Will and Noelle Henry, Ben and Trudi Henry, her beloved grandchildren, the ABC’s of her world: Aidan, Brooke, Cade, Devan, and Ethan; her older brother William (Bill) Farrell and sister-in-law, Jo.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her younger brother Dean Farrell.

The life of our beautiful Candace Jean will be celebrated on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at 2pm at Harper Funeral Home in San Angelo, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the following organizations: Concho Valley PAWS: https://cvpaws.org/ ; Critter Shack Rescue: https://www.crittershack.org/ ; or the Wounded Warrior Project: https://www.woundedwarriorproject.o…
