Ruth Mae Trudo

09/07/2023 - 11:18 , by TKing09

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Ruth Trudo, our loving and devoted mother, on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at the age of 102.

Public viewing will be from 1:00 PM until 8:00 PM with the Rosary being prayed at 6:00 Pm Sunday, September 10, 2023, at Robert Massie Riverside chapel. Mass will be at 10:00 AM Monday, September 11, 2023, at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Msgr. Larry Drool, officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Mrs. Trudo was born in Kenosha, Wisconsin to Walter and Mayme Ross and moved to the Rio Grande Valley with her family at the age of ten.  These were the Depression years; times were hard, luxuries were few, and Ruth grew up learning how to do a lot with little.  She remembered doing homework by the light of a kerosene lantern, as not all the family's residences had electricity or indoor plumbing!  Three years after graduating from Edinburg High School at the age of 16, she married Frank Trudo on December 26, 1940 in Edinburg. Together, they journeyed through most of the 20th century and beyond. He preceded her in death on March 21, 1992.

Frank's Air Force career meant frequent moves, and their 7 children were born and attended school in Texas, Wyoming, Mississippi, Illinois, Alaska, England, and Virginia.  Ruth's creativity and ingenuity were often tested by dad's outgoing affability.  One of her often-recounted recollections was the time Frank brought home a co-worker for supper, completely unannounced, and she had only half a pound of hamburger and a little milk and bread for the entire family.  What else could she do but fall back on that staple of the military menu, SOS?  (Kids, ask your grandparents).  Life as a military wife was something less than glamorous; Ruth and Frank survived the Blizzard of '49 in Cheyenne, Wyoming, in a tiny trailer with three small children, some canned soup, grit, and little else.  As she would often say when recounting the story, "You have no idea."

The family moved from San Antonio to San Angelo in 1966 on Frank's retirement from the Air Force.  As her remaining children left the nest over the next decade, Ruth never slowed down.  She founded Trudo's Religious Store in 1980 and, while running it from the house in the early years, provided home care for her mother-in-law, her mother, and her husband until the end of their lives.

A lifelong Catholic and member of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart parish since 1966, Ruth ensured her children were dressed and on time for church and Catholic school without fail.  After Frank was ordained as a deacon in 1976, Ruth supported him in every way, often attending conferences and helping with various projects.  Support continued in our adult years in the form of requested novenas and rosaries.  The door was always open to anyone in need.  Her priorities never wavered:  God first, then family.  "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith...".

Ruth survivors include four sons, Joseph Trudo and wife Zahida, John Trudo and wife Ho Yon, David Trudo and wife Polly all of San Angelo, and James Trudo and wife Natalie of Lookout Mountain, Tennessee; two daughters, Patricia Fennell of San Angelo, and Kathy Denison of Oceanside, Oregon; two sisters, Betty Lou Hall and husband Jim of Herndon, Virginia, and Margaret Ann Greene of Tampa Florida; 26 grandchildren; 63 great grandchildren; and 15 great-great grandchildren. Ruth is preceded in death by a son, Robert Trudo; a brother, Donald Ross; a grandson, Michael Hammel; and a great grandson, Spencer Sullivan.

The family would like to express there heartfelt thank you to Gentiva Hospice and to Ruths special caregivers, Darlene, Brandi, and Samantha, for there love and care.

Isaiah 25:8

He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.
Because thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;
There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.
Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.
He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.
With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.

Gustav "Gus" Edward Reisner

09/06/2023 - 10:55 , by TKing09

Gustav “Gus” Edward Reisner gained his angel wings on Monday, September 4, 2023 at the age of 53. He was born in San Angelo, Texas on July 11, 1970 to Richard and Sharon Sellers Reisner. Gus graduated from Lake View High School in 1989 and became a lifelong student of ‘Reisner’ University teaching himself how to create, build, and fix anything to help his family and friends in times of need. Gus made his career in technology, owning and operating Sound Choice Audio and Video and, most recently, serving as Commercial AV and Security Supervisor at Power Systems Security for his beloved friend Michael Strain. Gus gave his heart, soul, and talents to anyone in need and always gave his time and talent to family and friends, especially friends in need of a respectable stereo system.

Gus met the love of his life, Angie Chandler, in 1999. They became an inseparable duo and married on August 11, 2002 in Knickerbocker, Texas. They created many wonderful memories, but the most precious one was the birth of their daughter, Presley Paige, on October 3, 2006. He was so excited to welcome Presley into the world that he told Angie his face hurt from smiling. The duo became a trio, and they embraced a life of family, faith, and adventure as one. Nothing was more important in Gus’s heart than his girls; he loved them more than supercross and menudo.

Gus learned his remarkable mechanical abilities from his father, Richard, and his extraordinary creative talents from his mom, Sharon. He and his mom collaborated on a beautiful mural for Presley’s nursery ensuring that she was surrounded by beauty from the minute she was born. One of his last labors of love was passing the mechanical skills learned from his dad, and the fun memories of working with his brother, to his daughter, Presley, through helping her install a custom audio system in her first car. He was so excited that she was old enough to appreciate a sound system that filled the entire trunk just like he and his brother, Randy, did beginning in their teenage years.

Gus treasured his friends and made them a part of his extended family. Everyone said that Gus made you feel special as he used his humor, quick wit, and ability to make anyone laugh to draw you into his large circle of family and friends. He made long-lasting memories with Walter, Josh and Jeremy, Jeff and many others too numerous to name. He loved to laugh about the fun times and remind everyone of their part in the fun. He had an amazing personality that you could not help but share a laugh with his many friends.

Gus is survived by Angie, his loving wife of 21 years, and his precious daughter, Presley Paige. He is also survived by his parents, Richard and Sharon (Sellers) Reisner; brother and sister-in-law, Randy and Stephanie Reisner, and their children, Brittany, Kaleb, and Jade Reisner. He will also be missed by his mother-in-law, Margie Chandler; sister-in-law, Laila Chandler; brother and sister-in-law, Jeff and Lori Chandler, and their children, Georgia and Jackson. He leaves behind a special family of friends David and Evelyn Allen, Josh and Anna Allen, and Jeremy Allen. Finally, Gus is survived by his and Presley’s beloved rescue dog, Smoke.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Eric and Lily (Garrett) Sellers; Gustav and Elizabeth (Hooker) Reisner, his father-in-law, Wayland Chandler, and his best friend, Walter Scott.

While Gus cherished all of his relationships, his strongest relationship was the one with God. Gus knew that one day he would be in heaven and lived every day as a testament to his faith. He spent every moment of his life supporting and protecting his family, helping his friends, and ensuring that everyone listened to music as it was meant to be heard- with thumping bass.

Please join us in a Celebration of Life for Gus Reisner on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Immanuel Baptist Church, 90 East 14th Street, San Angelo, Texas. Family and friends may share online condolences at harper-funeralhome.com.

Rayburn Leonard Favre

09/05/2023 - 11:01 , by TKing09

His earthly body finally exhausted itself at home at 10:25 AM on August 30, 2023, at the age of 87. He was mentally aware of everything around him until his last breath. He stated, “I’m tired, think I just need to go to sleep” and in ten minutes his body and mind peacefully shut down. His legacy and impact on humanity will be remembered by his incessant and pure desire to help others.

He was born on January 15, 1936, in Bay Saint Louis Mississippi. After quitting school in the 8th grade, he moved to the New Orleans French Quarter with his mother. His teenage years were spent furthering his education in the school of hard knocks and realities of life. He worked in a print shop as a “type” setter and generally roamed the streets. Upon advice from a “fatherly figure and Judge”, he was advised (or else) to join the US Army in 1953. He served his 3-year enlistment and was honorably discharged. Returning to New Orleans he realized how much the Military Life was exactly what he needed and a few months later Joined the US Air Force. The Air Force recognized his “Personality Skills”, and he served in this capacity as a “Personnel Man” for his entire career attaining the Rank of Master Sargeant. He retired from the US Air Force in 1976 at Goodfellow AFB in San Angelo, TX. Shortly thereafter He went to work for the US Postal Service in Grand Junction Colorado, and they too recognized his “Personality Skills” and gave him the position of Postmaster in Rangely Colorado. After 20 years he retired and moved back to San Angelo to start his “Volunteer Career” full time in 1999. Next to his devotion to family, volunteering was a life-long passion, and his friendly and outgoing personality allowed him to never meet a stranger. The list of agencies he aided was extensive, which makes it difficult to name them all. He loved the East Angelo Lions Club, the Lions Club in general, and the American Red Cross for all they did to assist him in his goals. It was his passion, true and deep in his heart, mind, body, and soul.

He didn’t have the greatest family life growing up and he made sure his 2 families with Evelyn and Carolyn were at the top of his list. He liked to use the term “Blended Families” and he made sure everyone knew it. His Parents were Earl Joseph Favre(D) and Lottie Agatha Schwall(D) who had 4 children. Rosalyn, Rayburn, Earl Joseph(D) and Ralph, all originating from Bay Saint Louis Mississippi.

He married Evelyn Ring (D) in 1958 in Lincoln Nebraska. Together they had four children. A military career took the family to bases in Anchorage, AK; San Antonio, TX; Okinawa, Japan; Portsmouth, NH; Fairbanks, AK, and then to San Angelo, TX for retirement; as well as many cross-country vacations and extended stays with family in Pasadena, CA; Grand Junction, CO; New Orleans LA; Fort Worth TX; and Spencer, NE. He loved to travel and gave up driving in June of this year. He is survived by their children, Michael Earl Favre (Elisha), Kim Marie Favre Womack (Gary), Monty Lane Favre (Melanie) and Kelly Rae-Ann Favre Field (Bryan); grandchildren; Shawn Favre (Chrissie), Jerod Favre, M’Kenna Landers (Charlie), Ashlyn Favre (Caleb), Mika Favre, Lonnie Field (Sarah), Kandra Edmunds, Kaela Edmunds, Weston Womack, Brooks Womack, Bailey Landrum, Kameron Landrum, Corbin Landrum, McKenzie Holliman and great grandchildren Riley Favre, Eli Landers, Delta Landers, Lincoln Landers, Bowen Winger, Easton Winger, Tucker Field , Payten Field, Adley Allison and a multitude of nieces, nephews and many “adopted” family members, Notably Jimmy Colvin , Arnoldo Ayala, Bronson Jowers, Garry Massey and Joel Backus. “Grandpa Ray” was a very vocalized term!

He married Carolyn Field (D) in 1980 and though they did not have any children together, that never meant anything different to Ray, this was family. Carolyn had a daughter Starla who was dear to his heart. He is survived by Starla Ree Karr (Paul); grandchildren; Jeremy (Noemi), Josh (Tarrah), Katie (Blaine) and great grandchildren Audrye (Walker), Norrah, Ella, Abby, Weston, Grant, Raeya (namesake), Bransen and Harper and a Great; Great; Grandchild Walker.

Christmas Celebrations with Ray were sometimes an exhausting culminating event, he always had something wrapped up for “everyone”, a few extras and of course the surprising presentational twist. His preparations never had a beginning or end date, they were continuous. He strived to never miss a birthday, an event, or some type of acknowledgment for a very large family and always with his unique pleasantry, you knew he was thinking about you.

Ray was a member of the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church (Pathway lit by God and Evelyn Favre). He loved the Lord and was a devout Christian and fully accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior. He will have his place in heaven and will continue to take care of his family.

The family would like to thank Donnie Dunagan, Tracy May, Jo Ann Willis, and Jackie Swanson for their friendship, help and support.

A celebration to honor the life of Rayburn Leonard Favre, will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 3536 Lutheran Wy, San Angelo TX at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 9th, 2023. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to “Any charity you like…. He supported them All” We are grateful for a peaceful and pain-free passing. You will be missed dearly.

Gloria Mae Frances Debus Schwartz

09/05/2023 - 09:22 , by TKing09

Gloria Mae Frances Debus Schwartz, 88, passed away peacefully surrounded by her husband, seven children and spouses on the evening of September 2, 2023 in Shannon Hospital. An aggressive lung cancer was the final battle for the “miracle woman” who survived West Nile, Q fever, a heart attack and a couple other close calls.

Gloria was born on February 8, 1935 in San Angelo, Texas to John and Amelia Debus. She grew up working on the farm in Wall, Texas with her four sisters raising cattle, turkeys, ducks, chickens, sheep, guineas, geese and anything else that would make money. Her parents made sure that all the girls were educated. She attended Catholic School in San Angelo, Wall High School through the 10th grade and graduated from San Angelo High School in 1953. She then went to San Angelo College where she played volleyball and earned an associate degree. She earned her teaching degree at Incarnate Word in San Antonio and taught at Angelo Catholic for four years. She often told us about having a class of 64 second graders. She was a very creative teacher and made a lasting impression on her students. As adults, her students would seek her out to reminiscence.

Gloria married the love of her life, Erwin Frank Schwartz Sr., on July 2, 1959 after courting for many years. Teaching was her profession until her first child was born, then she became a “farmer’s wife”, mom, homemaker, caregiver, and volunteer. Her faith-filled home was always open to all and no one left hungry. She prepared home cooked meals daily which fed 15 to 20 people. The produce for meals was home grown, which she would can, freeze or prepare fresh for the table. She taught her own children to take initiative, make the most of what you had, work-hard, pray, and always do your best and keep the faith.

As a proud supporter of the Wall community, she lived a life of service for her family, church and always looked out for those in need. Gloria was an active member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Catholic Daughter’s and St Helen’s Altar Society. She played the organ for the choir for many years and taught catechism for over 35 years using the Baltimore catechism. As her children were going through school, Gloria could be found volunteering for the Fairview PTA, Wall FFA and any other organization which supported the education of her children. Many hours were spent watching and encouraging her children and grandchildren show pigs at stock shows, play football, volleyball, basketball, baseball, softball, tennis, and other academic events. At stock shows, she always brought enough food to feed her family plus many extras; no one left hungry. The 4-H county extension “egg to chick” program benefited from hundreds of dozens of eggs for classroom in the county. Sacrificing, serving and giving were easy.

Intelligent, talented, courageous, strong-willed, brave, caring are a few words which describe Gloria. She was a terrific seamstress, sewing bridesmaid dresses, uniforms, and costumes. She could whip up a meal out of nothing in no time when family and friends would drop in. She was ahead of her times with helping people find their smartness. She provided many creative activities for her children and grandchildren to develop their talents and imagination. Education for her children and grandchildren was a top priority. She was very proud that all 19 grandchildren earned a bachelor’s degree. Her memory was unbelievable. We will all miss our “encyclopedia of knowledge.”

Gloria is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Erwin Frank Schwartz Sr. and seven children and spouses, Amy and John Lange, Erwin Jr. (Frankie) and Theresa Schwartz, Paul and Tara Schwartz, Stacie and Clay Riddle, Shelley and Carl Halfmann, Randal and Tami Schwartz, and Dale Schwartz. Gloria’s pride and joy were her 19 grandchildren and 19 plus one on the way great-grandchildren: Jacob and Lauren Lange (Jarett and Kennli), Johanna Lange, Nathan Schwartz and Megan (Harper), Rachel and Wesley Doss (Weston and William), Nolan and Shannon Schwartz (Emmett), Amber Schwartz, Marissia and Ryan Barnett (Wyatt), Macy and Travis Stovall (Berkley and Owen), Lauren and Trevor Hahn (Kase and Samson), Megan and Derek Doss (Kyleigh, Heidi and Lance), Seth and Paige Riddle (Everett and Addison), Miranda and Mitchell Woodside (Charlotte), Sloan and Christian Garcia (Oliver and ? November boy), Dawson and Kassidy Halfmann (Rhen), Bailey and Kyle Fischer, Dayton Halfmann, Trent and Courtney Schwartz, Tate and Jordan Schwartz, and Trevor Schwartz. She is survived by her in-laws: Bernice Matthiesen, Rose Marie Schwartz, Alfonse Schwartz, Ann Schwartz, George and Doris Schwartz and John Schwartz, also, special cousins Virginia Debus and Del Schwertner. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and many others who she has taken under her wing who called her “Mema.”

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, John and Amelia Debus, sisters and spouses, Alfrieda and Elmer Braden, Jerline and August Frysak, infant brother August Frank Debus, sister Genevieve Schwartz and special cousins Howard Debus and Harold Schwertner, in-laws, Walter and Dorothy Schwartz, Beatrice and Laddie Socha, Joe Calvin Schwartz, Victor Matthiesen, Ruby Schwartz and Alfred Schwartz.

A rosary will be held at 6 p.m. on September 4, 2023 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Wall, Texas. The mass for Christian Burial will be held at 10 am on September 5, 2023 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Wall, Texas.

The family request that honorary memorials be made to the Rev. Bernard J. Binversie Seminarian Burse, Meals for the Elderly, St. Jude’s, EWTN or your favorite charity.
