Rosita Clara Torres (76) a music lover, craft enthusiast and most beloved grandmother passed away peacefully August 15th, 2024 in Ozuna, Texas.
Rosita was born in San Jose, California to Ubaldo Meija Barragan (father) and Clara Torres (mother). Rosita has a brother, Enrique Barragan, who resides in Las Vegas, NV with his wife, Linda Barragan, they shared many happy memories together. Rosita also has 3 siblings Armondo, Albert, and Adrian Izquierdo. Rosita was a San Jose native and very proud of her Hispanic culture/ heritage. She then met and fell in love with her first husband, Reyes Samaro, in 1966. They married the following year (1967) and gave birth to Annette Rose Samaro (1967). Shortly after she gave birth to Anthony Reyes Samaro (1968).
In the early 70s, Rosita retained her first job with Santa Clara County Transit. Over the span of 20 plus years, she held several positions, but the one she held in high regard was the title of Transportation Supervisor in the Cerone division. Her long time friends include Sharon Cooley, Sharon Young, and Larry Romero, and too many more to name. Santa Clara County Transit was Rosita’s second family, she truly cherished those friendships she made over her 20 plus year career.
This is also where she met her second husband, Herbert Leon Smith, who brought Herbert Leon Smith Jr. into their marriage. They went on to spend 40 years together in San Jose, Modesto, and Las Vegas.
Rosita leaves behind 5 grandchildren: Pricilla Chavez, Desmond Samaro, Arianna Godkin, Viana Samaro, and Isaiah Chavez. She also leaves behind 6 great grandchildren Sophia and Olivia Shaw, Abraham and John Godkin, Adrian Blaze and Emma Rain Samaro-Ortiz.
