David Lee Sewell, 70, of San Angelo, Texas, passed away peacefully in San Angelo on August 15, 2024. He was born on November 30, 1953, in Mount Pleasant, Texas, to Rayford Lee Sewell and Verna Lee Sue.
David grew up in West Texas, alongside his brother Doug, and from an early age, he developed a passion for the land and its resources. He pursued a career in petroleum engineering, dedicating his life to the oil fields and oil rigs that defined much of the region’s economy. Known for his hard work and commitment, David’s career spanned decades, marked by his expertise and deep connection to the industry.
Beyond his work, David had a love for cars that was unmatched. He spent countless hours working on, detailing, and trading cars, a hobby that brought him immense joy. His friends and family will fondly remember him as a “positively negative” man—a unique personality trait that endeared him to those who knew him best.
David is survived by his beloved partner, Dianna Wolf Spieker, who shared his life with unwavering love and support. He is also survived by his children: Cody Sewell, Brandy Lukyanov, Blake Sewell and wife Miranda, Broc Sewell, Bo Spieker, and wife Ashley, who will carry forward his legacy. David was a proud grandfather to Elliana, Adrik, Daiva, August, and Wyatt, who brought him immense pride and joy.
David will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 19, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Harper Funeral Home. Honorary pallbearers are Cody Sewell, Brandy Lukyanov, Blake Sewell, Broc Sewell, Bo Spieker and Jennifer Englert.
