George Franklin Scott from Eldorado, Texas went to be with the Lord and his beautiful wife on November 30, 2023, in San Angelo, Texas.

George was born in Taylor County to G.W. & Clois Scott on January 10, 1942. He went to school in Winters, Texas where he graduated high school.  He later moved to San Angelo where he met the love of his life. George & Su were married on June 5, 1967. George and Su soon made their home in Eldorado.  They had two children, Randy & Kim. George was a plant foreman for ARCO Oil & Gas Plant for 32 years.  He was also a rancher and farmer. George retired in 1989 and soon began doing odd jobs to pass the time.  He worked for Halbert LPG and Niblett Oil. He was known for his big personality and was often seen at the golf course.

George is preceded in death by his mother, Clois Scott, his father, G.W. Scott, his stepmother, Flo Scott, his wife, Su Scott, his brothers, Sam & Ricky Scott, his sister, Patsy Hogan, and one nephew, Shae Scott.

He is survived by his son, Randy Scott, his daughter and son-in-law, Kevin and Kim Thomas, his grandchildren, Kassidy & Kash Thomas, his sister and brother-in-law, Max and Carolyn Tidmore, his sister-in-law, Judy Scott, and his brother-in-law, Winford Hogan and several nieces and nephews.

The viewing will be at Love’s Funeral Home in Eldorado on Wednesday, December 6th and Thursday December 7th, from 2:00pm – 6:00p.m. A memorial service and celebration of life will be held Friday, December 8, 2023, at the Schleicher County Cemetery Chapel at 1:00p.m.  Pallbearers will be Jim Bob Scott, Bill Belew, Kevin Thomas, Mark Fraley, Louis Cantrell, Robert Fesperman, Hector Tobias, and John Wojtek. The honorary pallbearer will be Danny Halbert.

A special thank you goes out to the nurses and doctors in the Shannon ICU, San Angelo Nursing & Rehab, and Hospice of San Angelo.  All the staff in these facilities were very supportive and caring.

Diane Michelle Camfield, 57 of San Angelo, Tx went to be with our Lord and Savior on Friday, December 1, 2023.

Diane was born July 24, 1966 to W. J. Rebel and Rita Dowdle in San Angelo, Tx. where she attended Central High School. She worked in her family business, Rebel Signs for 18 years making lots of friendships that have lasted over the coming years.

Diane met and married the love of her life, David Camfield on September 10, 1988 and they have shared 35 beautiful years together. During their marriage, Diane took up the hobby of working out and weightlifting. She worked hard and was very dedicated, winning several contests. She’s always been a force to be reckoned with.

She was a beautiful person both inside and out and has blessed so many with her fun-loving, caring and sweet personality. To know her was to love her. She will be dearly missed by so many.

Diane was preceded in death by her grandparents, Gay Garland Cates, James H. Dowdle, Dorothy Moore and Fayette Moore. She is survived by her husband, David Camfield, of San Angelo; her parents, W.J. Rebel and Rita Dowdle, of San Angelo; her sister, Lisa Smith and husband Bryan, of Tioga, TX; her niece and nephew, Sarah and Nathan Smith, of Tioga, TX; and numerous other family members and close friends.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday, December 4, 2023, from 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M., at Harper Funeral Home. The Graveside Service will be 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at Fairmount Cemetery in San Angelo.

The Universe lost a bright and beautiful star on November 28, 2023, with the sudden passing of Laura Lee Lewis. Her untimely death has brought a profound loss to her family and her many dear friends and colleagues. Laura was a superbly rare and adored individual. A former intern perfectly wrote, “Laura epitomized connections, conviction, and love.”

Laura was born in Japan on Pearl Harbor Day to Jerold and Mary Lewis on December 7, 1967, while the family was stationed at Misawa AFB. The family then lived in Brindisi, Italy before retiring to San Angelo, Texas, in 1972.

Laura embraced the San Angelo community and considered herself a native. She attended McGill Elementary, Robert E. Lee Junior High, and graduated from Central High School in 1986. She attended Angelo State University before pursuing her love for travel and adventure. She became a flight attendant for Delta Airlines out of Dallas before transferring her home base to Salt Lake City, Utah. Laura loved living in the mountain town of Park City, Utah, where in addition to working for Delta, she worked at Deer Valley Resort. This allowed Laura to engage in her favorite pastimes…snowboarding, snow skiing, hiking, mountain biking, and golfing in the fresh mountain air.

She traveled the world during her 25-year career for Delta, often convincing family to travel with her and share in the privilege of seeing the world. Her summers were spent in Ashland, Wisconsin, at Loon Lake, where she enjoyed spending treasured time with extended family, and where the family made cherished memories and Laura always stole the show.

She returned to San Angelo in 2015, to help care for her mother, and once again fell deeply in love with San Angelo, making it her permanent home.

While in San Angelo, Laura became very involved in the community she so deeply loved, and brought life, energy, and excitement to everything she touched. She served as membership coordinator for the San Angelo Chamber of Commerce, championing local businesses, before being promoted to Vice President of Member Relations. Subsequently, she was hired as the district director for State Senator Charles Perry. When not working her job, Laura gave countless hours to causes and non-profit organizations that benefitted the community. She was particularly fond of the San Angelo Clubhouse, where she served on the advisory council, the W.H.I.T program, and the Pachyderm Club where she was past president. There was no one more committed to the causes she believed in, and these organizations will be forever impacted for her enormous contributions.

One of Laura’s greatest joys was being a stepmother to Kassidy Braddock and Tyler Tanner. She came into their lives when they were 3 and 5 years old and was extraordinarily proud of their achievements.

A beauty inside and out, Laura was fierce, funny and had an unmatched zest for life. A short twenty-one months ago, she began dating Joe Will Ross who became the love of her life. They had planned to share the rest of their lives together, but God had other plans for Laura. She will be forever missed by her love Joe Will, and the countless friends and family who adored her.

Memorial services for Laura Lee Lewis will take place at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in San Angelo on December 7, 2023 at 10:00 AM. Immediately following the services, a community-wide reception will be held at ASU’s LeGrand Alumni Center from 11:45 am to 2 pm. Everyone is welcome.

Laura is survived by her siblings Jerry Lewis (Patte) of Wausau, WI, Sue (John) Groat of Granite Bay, CA, Terry Lewis of Austin, TX, Judy (Don) Gruber of Loomis, CA, Sherry Taylor of San Angelo, TX, stepchildren Kassidy (Ashton) Braddock and Tyler (Robyn) Tanner of San Angelo, TX. Additional family surviving Laura include five cousins, eight nieces and nephews, and four step-grandchildren.

Kaylee Webber, of Georgetown, TX passed from this life unexpectedly on  November 26, 2023. She was headed back home after spending the Thanksgiving weekend with her family in San Angelo and was involved in a tragic motor vehicle accident in Llano County. She was 20 years old. Her family and friends are shocked and grieved by the loss of such a sweet, vibrant life. She would have turned 21 in just a few weeks.

She was born to Joel Webber and Kelly Trojanowski in Webster, TX on 12/19/2002. She is survived by her mother and father as well as her step-father, Steven Trojanowski. Siblings are August Webber, Krista Trojanowski, and Alex Trojanowski. Grand-parents are Bill Ruth, Lenora (Beth) Trojanowski, Steve Trojanowski, Sr., Carrie Trojanowski, and David Winburne. Aunts and Uncles: Shayne and Jere’ Webber, David and Sharmy Trojanowski, Jason and Shyla Trojanowski, Daniel and Maryulin Trojanowski, Bryan Ruth, Alisha Ruth, Julian Winburne, Guthery Herrera and Lavonne Winburne, Johnny and Lucy De La Rosa. Kaylee attended High School in Fairfield, CA and was part of the Early College Program through Rodriguez High School. She had achieved all of her credits for her Associates Degree. She was completing her final pre-requisites and was looking forward to entering the Engineering Program at the University of Texas in Austin to receive her Bachelor’s Degree.

Kaylee competed in hip hop dance throughout her high school years with Chapkis Dance in Fairfield, CA. She moved to Texas once she graduated in 2021. Her other hobbies included billiards, bowling, and working with cars. Kaylee had a heart of gold. Her faith was strong. She loved God and loved people. Her smile lit up a room and her laugh was contagious. She accepted and loved everyone for whoever they were. You would rarely hear any negative comment leave her mouth; always an encourager that looked at the positive in life and pushed towards her goals. Kaylee had a drive within her that propelled her to success. She was very competitive, and strived to be one of the best at anything that she put her hand or mind to. She will be greatly missed by all that loved her, but we trust that she is in a beautiful place and spared from any future pain or heartache that this world brings. We look forward to the day when we have the opportunity to reunite with her again on the other side. She would encourage everyone that reads this to not only love and do good while you are here, but to truly seek and invest in faith of what lies beyond this life and embrace it fully. Kaylee would tell you that Jesus is real and through him, we all have hope. May God bless, comfort, and protect us all.

Funeral service for Kaylee will take place at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, December 4, 2023, at Glen Meadows Baptist Church in San Angelo, TX. Burial will be private for the family. Thank you for all of your prayers and support during this most difficult time.

Technical Sgt. (Ret.) Jesse T. Davis, 90, of San Angelo, Texas, passed away at Baycrest Senior Living on Tuesday, November 28, 2023.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel with Russ Frasier, chaplain for Concho Hearts Hospice, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

He was born on July 2, 1933, in Durham, North Carolina to Johnny and Cornelia Ethel Davis. Jesse joined the U.S. Air Force in 1954 and completed basic training at Lackland AFB in San Antonio. After serving in various locations including two tours in Vietnam as a communication specialist. He subsequently was awarded the U.S. Air Force Commendation Medal for his dedicated service to the United States of America.

Jesse married the love of his life, Joanne Dawson of Durham, NC in 1956 and celebrated 58 years together prior to her death in 2014.

In 1976 Jesse retired from the Air Force and worked for RCA/General Electric as an area technician until his retirement.

His love of bowling started while he was in the Air Force and was a member of the Air Force bowling team. During his bowling career, he had numerous, league-sanctioned 300 (perfect score) games. Jesse joined the Senior Professional Bowler's Associate upon his retirement from RCA/GE and was an active member for 16 years traveling to various tournaments across the U.S. with his wife, Joanne, supporting him along the way.

Jesse was often seen as a staple in the San Angelo bowling community as he managed all the centers in town at one point or another and actively supported the Young American Bowling Alliance (YABA) as a coach. He most recently bowled in the senior leagues where he formed lifelong friendships. The best bowling advice he ever gave was simple, "Just roll the ball".

When he retired from the Senior PBA, he was left with an overabundance of bowling equipment much to the chagrin of his wife, since it had taken over the front room of their home. Longtime residents of San Angelo know exactly what he did with most of it -yard art. Shortly after his creation, he was "crowned" King Pin of College Hills by Rick Smith, writer for the Standard-Times.

Not one for speaking too much, he had a strong-silent type of demeanor and later in life developed an impeccable sense of comedic timing which often provided laughter and smiles to anyone around.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Cornelia Ethel Davis; older sisters, Marie Davis and Margie Hickman; younger brother, Johnny Howard Davis, his wife, Joanne Davis; and her constant four-legged companion, Kobe.

He is survived by his four children, Teresa Tigner and husband Steven of Crowley, Dirk Davis and his wife Debra of Cibolo, Belinda Gatlin and her husband William of San Angelo, and Trevor Davis: eight grandchildren, Joshua L. Tigner and wife Katie of Austin, Brian Tigner of San Antonio, Sarah Bethards and husband Drew of Minneola, Florida, Ryan Davis of San Angelo, Joanna Garcia and husband Alex of Round Rock, Mitchell Gatlin of San Angelo, Haley Lyssy and husband Braden of Poth, and Dylan Davis of Cibolo; two step-grandchildren, Bailey Ellis of Austin, and Kayla Ellis of Magnolia; two great grandchildren, Caroline Bethards and John William Bethards of Mineola, Florida, and a third great-granddaughter, Lyssy on the way.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request memorial donations be given to Concho Hearts Hospice, West Texas Rehabilitation Center, or the Wounded Warrior Project.

The family would also like to extend gratitude to the staff at Baycrest Senior Living who became a part of our family and Concho Hearts Hospice for their dedication and attention to Jesse during his time of need. Their support was priceless.

Berdell “Berdie” Douma, 87, left this world to spend eternity with her Lord and Savior on November 29, 2023, while surrounded by loved ones. Berdie was born on October 18, 1936, in Cambria, Wisconsin to Caroline and Christian Dornfeld. She was the youngest of 4 children and grew up working on the family dairy farm. She graduated from Markesan High School in 1953. While in high school, she met the love of her life, Rodney Douma and they were married in 1953.

Berdie was a devoted wife and lived in Germany while Rodney was in the Korean War. When he returned from service, Rodney and Berdie moved to Milwaukee, WI, where she worked as a secretary to put Rodney through engineering school. After his graduation, Rodney and Berdie continued to live in Wisconsin in Portage, Madison and Plymouth while Rodney started his career with GTE Corporation. During this time, she and Rodney added three daughters to their family. In 1981, Rodney was transferred to San Angelo, Texas, where he and Berdie would establish their home. Berdie began work for Angelo State University that same year with the University Health Clinic. She was the first smiling face students would see at the clinic until her retirement in 2003. While in San Angelo, she attended and was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Berdie had many loves: playing bridge, watching baseball and football (especially her Braves and Badgers), travelling, listening to music, dancing with Rodney, and most of all, she loved people. This was on full display in her home. Her home was always open, and everyone was welcome. She loved to host relatives, and welcomed them to stay as long as they wanted. She enjoyed showing her love through cooking and always made sure to cook the favorite meal and dessert of any guest. Anyone that knew Berdie, knew that you were not going to leave her home hungry and often more full than you liked! She had a way of making everyone she saw feel special. She was a great listener and gave loving, wise advice and support to anyone who needed it. Her love for Rodney as his health declined was a beautiful example of the self-sacrificial and unconditional love of Jesus. God’s love truly shone through Berdie to all those she knew.

Berdie is survived by her 3 daughters, Stephanie Jeter (Carl), Michele McKinney (Odie), and Heidi Douma (David); 5 grandchildren, Joshua Jeter (Camille), Allison Steyn (Fanie), Lucas Jeter (Elizabeth), Ramsey McKinney, and Aiden McKinney; 5 great grandchildren, Mackenzie Morris, Jeremiah Morris, Jude Jeter, Berdie Jeter, and Murphey Jeter; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Rodney Douma; her parents, Caroline and Christian Dornfeld; and her brothers, Howard, Hubert and Herbert Dornfeld.

The family would like to thank Gentiva Hospice for the loving care they gave to Berdie. With special thanks to Sarai and Rose for the wonderful care they gave her.

Alejandro Valdez, 33, of San Angelo passed away on November 27, 2023.

Public viewing will be from 10:00 AM - 8:00 PM on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Friday, December 1, 2023 at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel with pastor Elais Garcia, officiating. Burial will follow in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Mr. Valdez was born on July 6, 1990 in San Angelo to Chapo and Alma Valdez. Alejandro graduated from San Angelo Lakeview High School in 2008 and was a management information system major at Angelo State University. He was one semester from earning his degree. While in school he had his own business where he would help people troubleshoot their computers. Alejandro met his fiancé at Buddy's Plant Plus in Ballinger. They planned to wed in September of 2024. He talked to everyone and never met a stranger. Alejandro loved anime and board games but mostly enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Guillermo and Lilly Valdez.

Alejandro leaves behind his parents, Chapo and Alma Valdez of San Angelo; two brothers, Bebe Valdez and wife Hilary and Chapito Valdez all of San Angelo; two nieces, Grace Valdez and Annabelle Valdez both of San Angelo; his maternal grandmother, Gloria Palacio of San Angelo; and his fiancé, Celeste Colleen Sanchez.

Louis Dwain (L.D.) Ely, passed away November 24, 2023. He was born on December 14, 1943, in Gorman, TX, to J.T. and Emma Ely. He married the love of his life, Sue Ely. They had one son together Justin Ely, and he had two other children Kevin Ely and Shelly Rapach. He was a plumber for 46 years. He enjoyed metal detecting, collecting, and fishing.

Survivors include 2 sons, Justin Ely, and Kevin Ely and wife Corinna, daughter, Shelly Rapach and husband Tom, sister, Barbara Bradford, and many wonderful grandchildren, Payton, Addison, Constance, Amber, Denise, Jacob, Shea, Geni, and Joseph.

He is proceeded in death by his parents, his brother, Thomas Ely and wife Doris, sister, Estelle Marshall, brother-in-law, Buck Bradford.

A visitation will be held on Friday, December 1, 2023, from 5:00-7:00pm at Harper Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at 2:00pm at Glen Meadows Baptist Church. Burial to follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.

Ralph Lee Ridgeway Junior was born August 26, 1939 in Fredericks, Maryland.  This life-long Catholic went to spend eternity with his Heavenly Father on November 24, 2023 . He is survived by his loving wife Rose and his three children: Christena LeBeaumont, Ralph Lee Ridgeway III, and Rachele Ridgeway.  He also leaves behind 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

He grew up watching Westerns on television and this shaped his goal of living the cowboy life.  These movies also gave him a love of singing and playing guitar.  Starting early in his teenage years, he pursued his cowboy dreams across Nebraska, North Carolina, South Carolina, Kansas, Arizona, and Texas.  Along the way he taught himself guitar and he began singing popular country songs.  He would play and sing for co-workers, friends, and family.         

A proper Texas love story has a man and a woman meeting while each is horseback riding.  This is exactly how Lee and Rose’s love story started in 1992.  His marriage to Rose gave him three step-children (Darrel, Janette, and Joan), 10 more grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.  He also gained a large loving family in Rose’s two sisters, their mother, more nieces and nephews than you can shake a stick at, and a special son-in-law Jerry Davis.

In 2004, Lee and Rose started Safety Check Inspection Service.  Lee worked in the field inspecting drill collars until 2022.  They also bought land near Miles and coined it The Ridgeway Ranch. They enjoyed traveling together, especially when they would take their travel-trailer to Mayhill, NM and camp there with other couples.  Lee served as a Corporal in the Fort Concho Calvary for many years; he and Rose both enjoyed dressing in period clothing and reenacting life at forts around west Texas.  

Lee also loved old cars and collected several over the years.  He made an incredible salsa.  He broke and trained horses.  He had an impeccably-groomed mustache.  He will be greatly missed.

Mass for Lee is at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Sonora Saturday, December 2nd, at 2pm.  Floral tributes should be directed to Love Funeral Home in Sonora in advance of the viewing Friday, December 1st, from 1pm-4pm.

Pallbearers are Alan Wells, Michael Marker, Lance Marker, Lorenzo Sanchez, Shane Gilbert, and Billy Gilbert.

Henri Alfred ten Brink (Hal) was the most loved man by all his immense posse of friends and admirers who surrounded him every day at organized and orchestrated lunch events throughout Austin and weekend gatherings at the Guadalupe River house. He was generous and unselfish to all who knew him. He was the beloved husband of 47 years to Dr. Barbara Lee Rieck ten Brink and advised her with his wisdom and kind counsel enjoying and encouraging her many projects. He was devoted to his son, Samuel Lane ten Brink and daughter-in-law, Samantha Jane ten Brink, and granddaughters Marion (4) and Madeline (1). With Sam, Hal shared every leisure moment serving as coach or assistant coach in every youth sport. Hal instilled in Sam a passion for automobiles especially the 1973 white Buick Centurion convertible which Sam drove as a one-year old sitting on his daddy’s lap; the same car that Hal drove to carry Sam and Samantha away at their wedding.

Hal was a respected lawyer and public servant of 35 years to the State of Texas beginning in San Antonio at the Texas Attorney General’s Office as an Assistant Attorney General and Regional Chief; then as an Assistant Attorney General in Austin where he investigated and prosecuted consumer litigation throughout Texas. He moved to the Texas Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Division and served as Assistant Director and Hearing Examiner in cases involving dealer sales points and disputes between dealers and manufacturers. Hal was the primary author of the Motor Vehicle Board’s Advertising Rules and Texas’ Lemon Law. Additional State work included the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation where he prosecuted 24 different licensing statutes in administrative hearings and was the original author of the Criminal Convictions Guidelines adopted by the Commission, Texas Residential Construction Commission, and the Texas Board of Chiropractic Examiners.

Hal opened a private practice in 1994 through 2002. He returned to the State and retired in 2013.

Hal was a Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation.

His many philanthropic pursuits included serving on the boards of the Public Employees Credit Union for 30 years and Bryker Woods Neighborhood Association, serving as an election official, and providing pro-bono counsel to veterans through the Austin Bar Association.

Hal was born December 23, 1950 in Houston, Texas to Dr. Karl Cornelius ten Brink and Doris Moellenberndt ten Brink. The family transferred to New York during Hal’s high school years where he honed his talent for snow skiing. He returned every summer to be with his Texas friends and grandmothers and to attend Camp Longhorn where he learned to love sailing. He attended the University of Texas at Austin and St. Mary’s Law School in San Antonio. Hal is also survived by his sister, Charlotte ten Brink, brother-in-law, Rolf Laub, and niece, Emma Laub. We are eternally grateful to his long-term and vigilant care-provider Myriam Ruiz Santana.

A Celebration of Hal’s life will be at 12:00 P.M., Saturday December 2, 2023, at St. Francis by The Lake Episcopal Church, 121 Spring Mountain Dr, Canyon Lake, TX 78133.
