Douglas J. Robinson, age 77, of San Angelo, Texas passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2024.

Joan Elizabeth Hoglund, age 84, of San Angelo, Texas passed away on Friday, May 24, 2024.

Kurt Steele, 81 of Sonora passed away Saturday May 25, 2024. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Survivors include his brother Karl Steele and sister Karen Gibson, both of Washington.

Neva Jo Brown of San Angelo, Texas passed away on May 27, 2024. She was born January 5, 1931, in Midland, Texas to Roy and Gertrude Lee. She was proceeded in death by her husband Bill R. Brown, her parents, as well as one sister, Alberta Snyder of Lamesa, Texas and one brother, Donald Lee of Midland, Texas. She is survived by two sons, Gordon Brown and wife Charlene of San Angelo, and Bill M. Brown and wife Linda of San Angelo. In addition, Neva was blessed with two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, all of the Houston area. She was a lifelong member of the Baptist Church having been an active member wherever she found herself living throughout her long life. She was a member of the Glen Meadows Baptist Church of San Angelo for the last several years of her life.

Neva was a Christian wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and teacher of young people. She taught in the school systems of Texas and New Mexico over a lengthy career. She was a proud member of the first graduating class of Angelo State University back in the 1960’s and held bachelor’s and master’s degrees. She was a published author and had traveled to Europe to see the sights she referenced in teaching her students. She looked forward to living a full life everyday with her approach that we should all “bloom where we are planted”. She leaves behind a legacy of a Christian family and many well-educated young people to carry on her work of making the world a better place.

Allene Henniger McGill, at the age of 89, passed away on May 16, 2024, in San Angelo.

Allene was born in Miles, TX on January 29, 1936, and lived most of her life in and around San Angelo, TX. She worked at General Telephone Co., San Angelo Standard Times, Batjer & Associates in Abilene, TX, Ethicon, Hall McCoulskey Bachman & McDonough CPA’s and retired in 2008 from Texas A&M Research Center in San Angelo. She enjoyed her work and being a homemaker, gardening, and yard work.

Allene is preceded in death by her parents, Albert Henniger and Karoline (Lena) Pfeiffer Henniger both previously of Elm Grove, TX, her brother, Clarence Henniger, and the LOVE of her LIFE, her son, Michael Jay McGill.

She is survived by her grandson, Skylar McGill of San Angelo; her sister, Jerlene Smith of Brady, TX; three nieces; four nephews; and six cousins.

Allene proclaimed her deep love for God’s name, Jehovah (Psalms 83:18) and the Kingdom that’s been put in the hands of God’s Son, Jesus Christ (Matthew 6:9, 10). She truly appreciated the ransom sacrifice. She dearly loved her family, friends, her spiritual brothers and sisters and her pets.

A special thank you to her doctors and the kind nurses of Concho Hearts Hospice, especially sweet Alba, whom she loved, and Nichole. Also, the nurses and staff of Baycrest Assisted Living. To her dedicated brother and sisters of her church that so graciously prepared meals and stopped by for quick visits. A kind thank you to her dear friends, Irene Jolly, Angie Pullen, Irma Hackney, Mary Seouls and Joyce Warrington. Finally, to her many neighbors of San Angelo Orchard RV Park, especially David and Jean Matula, all of whom were like family to her and she loved so dearly.

Doris Arlelle Brininstool, 85, passed away at her home on May 22, 2024. She was born to William Arley Guess and Bell Agnes Guess on May 23rd, 1938, in San Angelo, Texas. She lived in San Angelo until she married Edward Powell Brininstool and started their military life together. They raised three amazing children and were married for 64 years until his death.

She and Ed moved to San Angelo, Texas and built their dream home next to Spring Creek after he retired from the Air Force. They later moved to Rio Concho West, a lovely retirement community in San Angelo, Texas, where they lived out their remaining years.

Arlelle was an active and cherished member of several groups and committees throughout her life including, but not limited to Military Spouse Club, Newtimers Club, Christmas at Old Fort Concho Decoration Committee, Garden Club, Community Bible Study, and Rio Concho West Social Committee. She never passed up a chance to volunteer and help anywhere needed.

All those that knew her would describe her in the following ways: kind, classy, elegant, servant hearted, cheerful, caring, generous, genuine, gracious, faithful, loving, loyal, supportive, thoughtful, strong, beautiful, witty, listener, multi-talented, funny, sweet, big hearted, considerate, good listener, great advice giver, fun to be around, caretaker, family historian, nonjudgemental, always ready to have fun, made everyone around her feel special, gave the best hugs and never outgrew relationships. She was a great sister. She was a real jewel.

She loved her children, grandchildren, brothers, nieces, nephews, and friends beyond measure and was a devoted and loving wife. She will be remembered by her family and friends as loving, caring and supportive and to her community as one of the most generous, involved, and dedicated individuals. She is leaving behind a legacy of kindness and strength. She will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She is forever in our hearts.

She was preceded in death by her parents William Arley Guess and Bell Agnes Guess and husband Edward Brininstool. She was survived by her children Michael Brininstool (Sue), Sharon Cleveland (what is his name) and Robbin Brininstool; grandchildren, Andrew Brininstool, Christopher Brininstool (Amber), Erin Chapman (Dan) and Zachary Brininstool; 5 great grandchildren; brothers Harold Guess, Howard Guess (Charlene) and Charles Guess (Pam), as well as many cousins and numerous friends.

Beauford Thomas "Tom" Deering, 85, passed away Friday, May 17, 2024, in San Angelo.

Memorial service will be 10:00 AM Thursday, May 30, 2024, at the First Church of the Nazarene, 3354 W Beauregard. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Tom was born November 20, 1938, in Pampa to Beauford Wayne Deering and Bonnie Lee Able. Moving to San Angelo, in 1948, he was raised in the Lakeview area where his parents owned Deering's Grocery. Tom graduated from Lake View School in 1958 and went to work for BW Merchandise until he opened Timeless Treasure's in 1981, where he worked until his in retirement in 2008.

Tom took his passion for photography and turned it into a business, traveling the state taking pictures of the landscapes and churches. He was passionate about the outdoors, from camping, canoeing, hiking, and biking. He especially loved Big Bend, where he would organize hiking trips with friends to Big Bend South Rim.

He was a lifetime Mason, and was a member of the Lions Club from 2002 to 2015, where he served as Director for 2 years. He was a member of the San Angelo Archeology Club and the San Angelo Genealogy Club.

Survivors include a daughter, Kelley Cooper and husband Ron Cerreta; and a son Casey Deering and wife Lynn, all of San Angelo; four grandchildren, Misty Rodgers and husband, David, Crystal Lacy and husband Blake, Cori Deering and Cole Deering and wife Margaret; five great-grandchildren, Clayton, Dalton, Addison, Sophie, and Asher; his life-long best friend Forest Gregg. Tom was preceded in death by both of his parents and his beloved Labrador: Daisy.

Vena Belle Allen went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at the age of 93 years.

Vena Belle was born on October 17, 1930, in Miles, Texas. She was one of six children. She married the love of her life, Jess L. Allen, Jr on June 25, 1949, in Miles, Texas. On one of their first dates, he took her to the "picture show" on a tractor. They were married for 74 years.

Vena Belle worked at the telephone office in Big Lake, Texas while Jess served in the Korean war. During that time, they were living at the old School House at Stiles, Texas. Later they moved to the farm north of Stiles where they lived until moving to Mertzon, Texas in December of 2011.

While living on the farm Vena Belle was a homemaker. She and Jess raised their four children, Johnny, Linda, Lonnie and Kim, there in that sweet little farmhouse. That is where she taught them all about the love of Jesus. She loved to cook, and she could cook a meal for a huge crowd with little notice. She made the absolute best homemade rolls you could ever imagine. Her talent for cooking and preparing a big meal at the drop of a hat was a blessing to her family and friends for years. She loved having a house full of people.

She loved the Community Baptist Church where her and Jess attended Sunday services. They were founding members of that little church and served there for years. She enjoyed cleaning the church and making sure the grass was always mowed. She spent hours making sure that little church was well kept, inside and out. She also loved to work outside in her own yard. When she was ninety plus years old, she was still trying to get someone, anyone, to help her go buy a new lawnmower.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jess; her parents, Harry Ables and Zeither Ables; three brothers, Bucky Ables, Milburn "Pib" Ables and M.W. (Wayne) Ables, two sisters, Claudia Mae Ledbetter and Wilma Arceneaux and her son-in-law, John Sanders.

She is survived by her two sons and two daughters, Johnny Allen, and wife Correne of Blackwell, Texas; Linda Matthews and husband Jimmy of Big Lake, Texas; Lonnie Allen and wife Carole of Blackwell, Texas; and Kim Sanders of Shallowater, Texas. One of her favorite titles was "Mee-Maw." She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren with every part of her heart. They were the light of her day, and she loved every minute she spent with them. She rarely used the word "no" when it came to those precious grandkids. From unlimited milkshakes to hours of fishing, painting, and learning to drive, she made every moment with them special. She loved that Rylin, one of her great granddaughters would share with her the same middle name. Her nine grandchildren include; Brandon Allen and wife Brittany of Midland, Texas, Michael Matthews and wife Natalie of Mertzon, Texas, Jill Fortenberry and husband Michael of Big Lake, Texas, Julie Sosa and husband Claudio also of Big Lake, Texas, Jennifer Furr and husband Ethan of Kent, Texas, Wade Allen and wife Shelby of Big Spring, Texas, John Wesley Sanders and wife Marisa of Brownfield, Texas, and Zy and Julian Sanders both of Shallowater, Texas; and 15 precious great-grandchildren, Jaxton and Landry Allen, Ally and Macy Matthews, Jentry Fortenberry, Allison, Josh, Brazos and Avery Sosa and Alex Robertson, Rylin "Belle", Whitley and Waylon Furr, Weston Sanders and Charlye Ann Allen. She is also survived by her two sisters in laws, Wanda Jo Ables of Denver City, Texas and Shirley Bruton and brother-in-law, Bert Bruton of San Angelo, Texas; and a host of nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

Pallbearers include her grandsons, Brandon Allen, Michael Matthews, John Wesley Sanders, Wade Allen, Zy Sanders and Julian Sanders.

Honorary Pallbearers include her grandson-in-laws, Michael Fortenberry, Claudio Sosa, and Ethan Furr. Additional Honorary Pallbearers will be Joel Ham, Juan Barajas, Bubba Akin, Larry Asbury, Joe Phillips, and Eddie Joe Morton.

A visitation will be held at The First Baptist Church in Big Lake, Texas on Wednesday, May 29th, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The funeral service will be on Thursday, May 30th at 1O a.m. also at the First Baptist Church with burial immediately following at the Stiles Cemetery. Margaret Almeta Stone, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and mentor, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2024, at the age of 93. Born on December 30, 1930, in Wewoka, Oklahoma, Margaret dedicated her life to faith and family.

Margaret's boundless love and warmth touched the lives of all who knew her. As a pastor's wife, homemaker, and dedicated Bible teacher, she nurtured her family and community with unwavering devotion. Her passion for cooking, entertaining, and her love for people created cherished memories for all.

A devout woman of faith, Margaret's daily routine of prayer and scripture reading was a testament to her deep spirituality. Her prayer list, comprising over 200 loved ones, reflected her boundless love for others.

Margaret's adventurous spirit led her to enjoy travels and indulge in her favorite pastime, fishing. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, including engaging in lively games of Skipbo with her loved ones.

In her 60s, Margaret pursued her passion for home decorating at Texas Tech and later found fulfillment working as a tax assessor. Her involvement in livestock auctions and her mentoring of numerous individuals underscored her diverse interests and generous spirit.

Margaret is survived by her sons, Jack Stone and wife Deb of Lubbock, TX, and Gary Stone of Dallas, TX; grandchildren, Christy, Amy, Josh, Misty, Micah, and Joey; several great-grandchildren; her brother, Cleo Adams; sisters, Lois Lightfoot and Freda Bryant; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Pastor Joe Stone, her parents and one grandson, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness that will be cherished forever.

A viewing will be at Harper Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 from 12:00-1:30pm. Graveside service will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens at 2:00pm.
