Emma Lee Hinrichs

03/17/2026 - 22:00 , by TKing09

Emma Lee (Tyler) Hinrichs, age 88, of San Angelo, Texas passed away peacefully at home on March 15, 2026, following a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was born October 14,1937 in Brady, Texas to Joseph Burk and Sallie Faye (Stephens) Tyler. She was a faithful servant of God, who lived out her faith daily through acts of kindness. She found great strength and comfort in her daily prayers and scripture.

Emma was raised on a farm located between Eden and Paint Rock, Texas, known as "Rocky Hill", primarily with her four siblings and father since her mother passed on when Emma was only 11 years old. She met the love of her life, Carl, while attending Paint Rock High School and graduated in 1956. She later attended Southwest Texas State Teachers College in San Marcos for one semester before she and Carl were married on December 21, 1957. From 1958 to 1975, Carl's career in the United States Air Force took their family to several states. During this time, Emma devoted herself to managing their home and raising their family while Carl served as a Navigator and traveled to many countries.

It was important to Emma that her family was nurtured with the Christian Faith; therefore, the family would attend Protestant church services at the military bases where Carl was stationed during his service in the United States Air Force. Emma would volunteer to teach Sunday school classes and Vacation Bible School. After Carl's retirement in 1975, Carl and Emma made their home in San Angelo, Texas and cultivated a relationship with Goodfellow Air Force Base's Protestant Chapel. She was recognized for her dedicated volunteerism, loyal and faithful service in the chapel.

Emma graduated from Angelo State University with a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1980. She taught at Day Elementary School from 1980 to 1993. After Emma's retirement, she became active in the Concho Valley Quilter Guild. She poured her passion for quilting into countless gorgeous quilts. Emma also spent a lifetime of mastering her art as a talented seamstress. Her work was a labor of love, patience, and service, with every stitch representing a memory.

Emma is survived by her husband, Carl Victor Hinrichs; brother, Arnold Tyler (Judy); children, Kelvin Hinrichs (Bridget), Denise Nauman (Mark); Grandchildren, Tyler Hinrichs (Heidi), Bradly Hinrichs (Celeste), Alexis Freeman (Jacob), Brooke Viljoen (Declan); Great-Grandchildren, Colt Hinrichs, Rhylee Hinrichs, Everett Freeman.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Neva Tyler, May (Hubert) Ray; brother, John (Willie) Tyler; sister-in-law, Mary (Lonnie Alton Jr.) Cantrell.

Emma was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, and a beloved "Granny" to her grandchildren. Emma will be forever in our hearts and deeply missed by all that knew her.

Public Viewing will be from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM, with a funeral celebration of her life at 12:00 PM on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel, followed by a reception. The family will have a private burial at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.

We are forever grateful for the gentle, dedicated care given by Debbie Williams, who became a true friend to our family.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to Alzheimer's Disease Research.

Ernest Neil Snipes

03/17/2026 - 21:54 , by TKing09

Ernest Neil Snipes had a tenacious and persevering life spirit which served him well from birth. Born six weeks premature at Camp LeJeune, NC, to Tom and June Snipes, he was the oldest of their four children. Being in a military family, Neil enjoyed living in various places, including Hawaii, which helped develop his respect for and enjoyment of people of different perspectives, cultures, and lifestyles.

Neil was ultimately a man of the world but deeply Texan at his core. He honored his parents' Wise County roots and cultivated and treasured relationships with extended family members. He valued his experience as a young landman, which informed his knowledge of Texas history and also helped guide him to a different profession. While initially uncertain about living in San Angelo, he grew to love West Texas where he could breathe and enjoy the wide-open spaces and sky. He was also known for his Texas sayings – including “I'm upright and between the ditches,” which conveyed far more than people understood.

Neil was smart, curious, and inquisitive – always wanting to learn about life as it unfolded. He was a deep thinker and avid learner, with no subject off limits. While not one for small talk, he inspired and invited others to think “outside the box” and engage with the world differently, too. Even after retirement, he continued to invest in personal and professional growth for the benefit of himself and others.

Compassionate, wise, and committed to healing in multiple forms, Neil had a strong sense of responsibility to those in his orbit and also to the larger universe. He used his skills, gifts, education, training and traits, including his dry wit, as a psychotherapist, investing deeply with those with whom he worked. Through his counsel of clients, family members, friends, faith community, and others, Neil positively impacted and helped many people change their lives.

An avid fisherman for decades certainly helped cultivate his capacity for patience! The importance of fishing in his life was noted by Neil's perspective when, in 2012, he experienced a second chance at life following a double lung transplant: he said it was like going to a fishing tournament and knowing before it started that he would win.

No matter the challenge, Neil courageously put his whole self into it, determined to figure out the issue and do whatever was necessary to get the most out of life and himself.

Those who carry forward his love and legacy are his wife Karen Schmeltekopf, family members, friends, former clients and colleagues, University Health San Antonio transplant staff he loved so dearly, and his beloved dog Gus.

We will celebrate Neil's life Saturday, April 11, 2026, 11:00 am, Unity Spiritual Center, 5237 S. Bryant Blvd, San Angelo.

03/11/2026 - 10:06 , by TKing09

He was born on August 25, 1935, in Germantown, PA, to Medford and Myrtle West Calhoun. A family move to Greenwood Delaware, placed him on a dairy farm, where he lived until graduating high school.

On May 29th, 1954, Millard married his soul mate and high school sweetheart Marguerite (Margie) Amelia Gerardi in Harrington DE. Together they were blessed with seven children: Karen Spoonts, Daniel Calhoun, Wanda Dwyer, Kirk Calhoun, Chris Calhoun, Michelle Reed, and Angela Jenkins.

He received his master’s degree at the University of Delaware and completed his doctoral studies at the University of Connecticut earning a PhD in Animal Science in 1963. Millard retired from Texas A&M after 36 years of service.

Millard set a tradition on their 50th anniversary of bringing the love of his life roses every week. He became a self-taught expert on the best roses to buy and where. They would have been married 72 years in May.

Fondly known as “Pop-Pop to his 19 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren”. Millard delighted them with his made-up songs and stories. He was quick witted, loved to laugh, and carried a deep passion for reading and lifelong learning.

We will miss his smile, laughter, wit and wisdom, but we rejoice in knowing he is with our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters. He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You have anointed my head with oil; My cup overflows. Surely goodness and loving kindness will follow me all the days of my life, And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Psalm 23
