Nona L. Townley

08/18/2025 - 08:16 , by TKing09

Nona “Nan” Chenault Townley, 81, rejoiced in Heaven on August 13, 2025, in San Angelo, Texas.

Nona was born on July 14, 1944, to John and Odell Chenault in Paducah, Texas. Her childhood and teenage years were idyllic growing up in the small Texas town. She was raised in the First Methodist Church in Paducah and developed a strong faith and a servant’s heart. Her school years were filled with sports, school dances and driving around the ‘square’. Summers were a time for swimming and vacationing with her siblings and her beloved and fun Aunt Wivie and John Heim.

On June 2, 1963, Nona married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Warren Townley in Paducah. The newlyweds lived in Abilene for several years where Nona worked for the Texas Highway Dept and Warren finished college. During their time in Abilene Nona and Warren made many close friends and formed friendships that carried over into Nona’s final days.

In 1967 Nona and Warren welcomed their only child, Missy, into the world and soon after moved to Wall, Texas where Warren coached. Nona initially stayed home with Missy but quickly started doing some bookwork for the Wall Coop Gin. She loved numbers and was a whiz at bookkeeping. Eventually, Nona began working for Wall ISD. First as the principal’s secretary and later as the business manager in the superintendent’s office where she remained until she retired. They were active members of the Wall Brethren Church where Nona taught Sunday School and served on the Board of Elders for many years.

Staying home and sitting idle were not in Warren and Nona’s vocabulary. The two had so many wonderful friends and spent endless hours playing poker, water skiing, going on snow skiing trips and traveling to different countries. Together Nona and Warren built a life filled with love, fun, devotion and faith. As an only child, Missy knew Nona and Warren as her first best friends. The three of them had so much fun together and shared so much love.

In 2001 Nona and Warren moved to Canyon, Texas to be near Missy and her family. Nona “Nan” was devoted to her grandchildren and never missed a game, rodeo or banquet. Her three grandchildren were her world. She put everything else to the side if one of her grandchildren needed her. Nan could do it all in their eyes!

She was preceded in death by Warren and both of her parents.

She is survived by her daughter Missy Harris and Randy Krupala of San Angelo; grandchildren, Pryce Harris and Bailee, Jake Harris and wife Kipty, Addi Harris; great granddaughter Vivian Kate, all of Canyon; siblings Carol Greear of Rogers, Ark and Steve Chenault of Plano.

The family would like to thank Monica, Monica and Cynthia for lovingly caring for Nona in her final days. Missy will never forget the support and sense of peace their presence brought.

A private service will be held for Nona by her family. A memorial reception celebrating the lives of both Nona and Warren will be held in San Angelo at later date to be announced.

The family suggests that donations be made to Alzheimer’s Association, Meals for the Elderly or a favorite charity.

Emma Kaye Pitcock

08/18/2025 - 08:14 , by TKing09

Emma Kaye Roberts Pitcock was born in San Angleo, Texas on Saturday November 5,1949 at 10am to Artell Green Roberts and Reba Faye Roberts. Kaye was called home to Heaven on August 13, 2025, to spend eternity with her Lord and savior Jesus Christ. Kaye said her prayers every day. If you met her or were a part of her life, she prayed for you. Kaye prayed for people she knew and for people she didn’t know but had seen and thought that they needed praying for. Kaye prayed for every one of Gaylon’s friends and coworkers and for her boy’s friends and coworkers. Kaye prayed during good times, and she prayed during not so good times. Kaye lived a life of prayer that could likely only be rivaled by that of her mother’s.

Kaye grew up as an only child on the family farm west of Robert Lee, Texas and attended the Robert Lee Baptist Church where she accepted Christ at the age of 9. Kaye was a student at Robert Lee ISD through her graduation in 1968. Kaye met Gaylon Lynn Pitcock, while attending Robert Lee ISD, they were married on June 21, 1969. They both attended Texas Tech for a short period of time. Kaye was a lifelong Red Raider fan which led to both of her sons being Red Raider fans. Gaylon and Kaye spent many Saturdays at Jones Stadium with Korey watching the Red Raiders, and made dozens of trips to Lubbock to see Blake while attending Texas Tech.

Both Gaylon and Kaye returned to Robert Lee in December of 1969 following the death of her father to help with things on the home place. After returning home to Robert Lee, both Kaye and Gaylon began working for General Telephone in San Angelo, Texas. Kaye left General Telephone shortly before the birth of the couple’s eldest son and remained a devoted stay at home mom for her two sons, Blake and Korey for much of their childhood, working at different businesses around Robert Lee and the west side of Coke County as the family needed. Kaye was a very proud parent and always loved her two boys even when they proved to be a handful. Kaye was well known as very good cook and enjoyed cooking for family and friends. Kaye cooked countless meals and would take them to Gaylon and the boys in the sheering pens or out to the tractor where Gaylon was plowing or bailing hay. Kaye also administered first aid to Gaylon and the boys more times than anyone could count when they got banged up working around the place.

Kaye was a sweet soul who loved deeply and gave fully to her family, friends, church and community. She loved her Bible study group along with her pegs and joker friends. You could often find them at the coffee shop downtown several times a week playing cards. Both Kaye and Gaylon enjoyed playing dominos with all their friends and relatives and spent countless Friday and Saturday evenings around the dining room table laughing and telling stories while playing 42.

When asked, Kaye said her favorite memories were holidays and hunting season when everyone was together. Kaye would always welcome friends and family and make certain that everyone had a spot to sleep and that they were well fed during calling contests and weekend hunting events. Kaye always tried to make the holidays memorable; she especially loved spending time around the Christmas tree with her grandchildren watching them open gifts. Gaylon and the boys would bring hunting buddies or rodeo bums to the house and Kaye always made sure that they were made to feel at home and that they were always well fed.

Kaye was preceded in death by her parents, Artel and Reba Roberts and her husband Gaylon Pitcock. Kaye is survived by her sons, Blake Pitcock and wife Amy of Midland and Robert Lee Texas, Korey Pitcock and wife Lauren, grandchildren, Asher, Caleb, Mac and Abby of Abilene Texas along with many family members and friends who meant the world to her.

The family would like to say a special thanks to Camile Prince for the love, care and compassion she showed Kaye over the past several years, she has truly been a blessing as a friend and a caregiver. To the Robert Lee Care Center and the staff and Gentiva hospice, thank you, for your guidance support and care during this time.

To all of you that mom knew and loved her, thank you for the outpouring of love and support for the family and thank you most of all for the part you played in our dear sweet mother's life, she loved you deeply.

Mom, your boys are going to miss you. You and dad loved us and raised us right and did the best you could with what you had and made sure that our lives were better than your own. We always knew we were loved even when we were too stubborn to show it. As far as your boys are concerned you did it all exactly like you were supposed to and left nothing undone. Know that your work on earth is done and that you may rest easy with the heavenly father.

A visitation will be held at the Austin Street Coffee Shop in Robert Lee, TX, from 6:00-8:00pm on Friday, August 15, 2025. Memorial Service will be held at Robert Lee Baptist Church, at 2:00pm, on Saturday, August 16, 2025.

Shirley R. Whitesell Cheesman, 86, passed away August 10, 2025 in San Angelo, TX. Shirley was born on July 19, 1939 in Santa Rita, New Mexico to Charles Whitesell and Mary Johnson Whitesell. She married The love of her life Joe Cheesman on December 24, 1954 at Bethal Temple Church in San Angelo. They shared 67 incredible years before he passed in 2022. They raised a daughter Sherri Jo and was blessed with two granddaughters Lacy and Star as well as her beloved yorkie Molly. In 1963 they moved to Houston and enrolled in Southern Bible College at age 17 she was ordained in a motel room in New Mexico by Dr. Edwin Lewis Cole. In 1965 they moved back to San Angelo and later pioneered and pastored Full Gospel Assembly Church for 56 years until moms passing September 1st would have been 57 years. My moms and dads’ vision was a brand new, debt free sanctuary and 10 years late a family center/gym was also debt free. Shirley drew up the plans for the church and gym herself. They opened the new building/church on September 1, 1987.

Her favorite past times were camping, fishing, vacations in Junction and the Colorado mountains. Lady’s meetings, Ladies Retreats, Indian Mission Trips, Youth Camps, Kids Crusades as well as spending time with friends and family and her childhood friend Mary Ruth and best friends Geneva Vaughn, Betty Parker and Carol Dennis. Shirley pastored for many years but also built many churches on several Indian Reservations. (She would be in the kitchen colling while my daddy helped build including behind the scenes with Bro. Don and Naomi Burke). A fun fact about mom, she was a Jokster and on one of many vacations to Cloudcroft, NM with friends, family and Bro. Jim and Marsha Boatright, she changed out Bro. Boatright’s shampoo and put honey in it. We still laugh about this to this day.

She is survived by her loving daughter Sherri and husband David Hollebeke, two granddaughters Lacy Amyx, and Star and her husband Rory Burlew. In addition, she leaves one great granddaughter Mia and great grandson Kasey; as well as bonus shared kids, nephew Jay Merrill and niece Lisa Davis; sisters Dortha Hanna and Faye Meeks and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and her church family and her beloved Yorkie Molly. Officiating the services will be Bro. Jim Boatright and serving as pallbearers are Jerry Ripple Jr., Jason Ripple, Tim Cheesman, Jacob Jones, Jay Merril, Bill Whitesell. Honorary Pallbearers include Tony Arhelger, Steven Arhelger, Jerry Ripple Sr. and Roy Mills.

If you would like to continue mom’s mission, one of her greatest joys was the Indian Missions for backpacks filled with essential school supplies, blankets etc. for Christmas for Indian Children. Yearly donations can be made to Full Gospel Assembly, Indian Missions Fund P.O. Box 3865 San Angelo, TX 76902.

The family would like to give a special thanks to her church family and all that prayed for her. Especially her granddaughter Lacy that was her constant caregiver. She loved making her laugh when she no laughter. A question that always made her laugh was, What do you want to eat and she would laugh and give Lacy a funny look. Also, a special thanks to Interim Hospice, her nurse Janet and her aide Jessica for all their loving care. Another thanks to Erika, Malorie and Jeff for her previous stays at Encompass Rehab and the wonderful workers at Shannon Neuro Rehab, her doctors Marty Rivera, Therea Jeter, Shellye Harris for all the dedicated years they took care of her.
