Harold Douglas Henson

05/13/2026 - 10:46 , by TKing09

Harold Douglas Henson, beloved brother in Christ, went to see his lord and savior at 91 years of age on May 11, 2026. A celebration of his life will be held graveside at Lawnhaven Cemetery on Friday, May 15, 2026 at 11:00.

Harold was born on October 12, 1934 to C.L. “Tuck” Henson and Lorene Kelley Henson between Wall and San Angelo Texas. He grew up in San Angelo while attending Reagan Elementary, Edison Junior High School, and San Angelo High School, graduating in 1953. He enrolled at Texas A&M in College Station, Texas in 1953 and graduated in 1957, where he was commissioned as 2nd Lieutenant.

Harold began his love of Jesus and his passion for serving the church while in junior high and he joined Immanuel Baptist Church. In Sunday School there, he met his first love, Loydean Bateman. They later went on to date while he was a Junior in high school. He and Loydean married at Immanuel Baptist Church in August 1955 and then lived in College Station as Harold finished his degree at Texas A&M. Together, they went to Ft. Benning, Georgia when he joined the Army in 1957 and then to Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri. They returned to San Angelo in 1958, where Harold started Henson Welding and Trailer Company and completed his time in the Army as a member of the Texas Army National Guard.

Harold and Loydean started their family with the birth of their daughter, Terrye Dean Henson, on April 27, 1960. Harold was at military training in Ft. Sill, Oklahoma when Terrye was born. In 1961, Harold was mobilized with the 49th Armored Division to active duty in the U.S. Army. Harold and Loydean welcomed their second daughter, Kimbra Lynn Henson, on September 11, 1961. The young family then moved to Ft. Sill, Oklahoma in October 1961 as Harold attended Artillery and Missile School. In December 1961, the family moved to Ft. Polk, Louisiana while Harold was a Nuclear Weapons Officer and Platoon Firing Officer. The family moved back to San Angelo in 1965, where he stayed in the National Guard as a Captain Battery Commander, Delta Battery and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1977.

Harold continued his service to the Lord and church over all of his years, ordained as a deacon at Immanuel Baptist Church in 1965. He was an active member of Park Heights Baptist Church, Southland Baptist Church, and Glen Meadows Baptist Church.

Harold operated Henson Welding and Trailer Company until 1985 when he moved his sole focus to operating Henson and Son Livestock Hauling with his father from 1970 to 2004, when he retired.

Harold lost his first love, Loydean, in January 1999. He was blessed in love again when he was set up on a blind date with Martha Ann Lewis. They were married on November 18, 2000 at Glen Meadows Baptist Church, where they blended their families. He and Martha continued to live in San Angelo where they enjoyed many travel adventures and watched their growing family of grandchildren and great grandchildren during his retirement. He attended every school, sporting, and FFA event he could.

G-Daddy, as he was called by his grandkids and others that loved him, loved caring for his goats, building trailers and wagons for his grands and great grands. He loved starting off his day with an oatmeal raisin cookie and a cup of coffee. An avid reader, Harold loved collecting first edition westerns by Elmer Kelton. He was extremely proud to serve his country and always said “thank you” to any service member he saw. Although a quiet and patient man, Harold always spoke the truth, said “I love you”, and said what needed to be said. He leaves a legacy behind him and we celebrate his life.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lorene Henson and C.L. “Tuck” Henson; wife, Loydean Henson; special aunt, Lucille Kelley; and brother, Bob Henson. 05/13/2026 - 10:45 , by TKing09

Gene Allen Sherrod, M.D., age 85, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by love on May 11, 2026.

Gene was born on August 19, 1940, in Monahans, Texas. He graduated from Bronte High School in Bronte, Texas, in 1958 before moving to Austin to attend The University of Texas, where he pursued his lifelong calling in medicine and earned his medical degree in 1966.

Following medical school, Dr. Sherrod attended the School of Aerospace Medicine at Brooks Air Force Base. He then proudly served his country in Vietnam as a Captain and flight surgeon in the United States Air Force until 1967. His service reflected both his dedication to medicine and his commitment to caring for others under extraordinary circumstances.

After returning from Vietnam, Dr. Sherrod continued his medical training with a residency at the City of Memphis Hospital, followed by a Cardiologist Fellowship in Indianapolis. In 1973, he moved to San Angelo, Texas, where he became the second cardiologist to practice at Shannon Medical Center. Over the course of more than four decades, he built a respected career caring for countless patients throughout the Concho Valley and surrounding communities. He remained devoted to the practice of medicine until his retirement at the end of 2014.

Outside of medicine, Gene had a deep passion for hunting, fishing, and all things outdoors. He was happiest either fishing in Port Mansfield with his son Matt, and friends Lannie, Judy, and Tom, or spending time at the clay bird range. Sporting clays became one of his greatest passions, and through years of dedication and skill, he earned recognition as a National Champion in Sporting Clays for many years.

Besides being a National Champion, Gene was also a pilot, master diver, Hall of Fame shooter, and the founding member of the Never Had a Cavity Club.

Of all his accomplishments, Gene considered his greatest to be his children: Malia, Matt, and Anne Michelle. He took his role as a father seriously and never missed an event or an opportunity to be involved in their lives. His unwavering support, presence, and love shaped the lives of his children and remained one of the defining joys of his life.

In 2008, Gene met the love of his life, Susan, who became the missing piece to his puzzle. They married in 2010, blending two families into one large and loving family. Together, Gene and Susan shared a love for travel and adventure, with Nimmo Bay holding a special place among their favorite destinations and memories together.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Lois Sherrod; his best friend, mentor, and fellow Scotch connoisseur, Dr. Gus Eckhardt; his godparents, Marvin and Snookie Landers; father-in-law Dick Rittman; brother-in-law Bob Colby; and his niece, Sherry Ham.

He is survived by his loving wife, Susan Sherrod; his children, Malia Sherrod (Jordan and Mikey), Matt Sherrod, Anne Michelle and Andrew Eppes (Cora Jean and Drew), Sarah and Jon Lamb (Hudson and Harris), and Julie and Jarrett Eledge (Finleigh and Fischer); his sister and brother-in-law, Sissy and Bub Burson; his nieces and nephew, Pam, Vicki, and Gary, along with their families; mother-in-law, Betty Rittman, sisters-in-law Cheri Colby, Retta Smith, Mary Thompson (Brian), and Beth Henderson (Dr. Todd), as well as many nieces and nephews; and dear friends Kirk Cleere, Lannie and Judy McGaughey, Mike Cornell, and Merrill Varien.

Dr. Sherrod’s life was marked by service, perseverance, and a deep love for family, friends, and the outdoors. He will be remembered not only for his accomplishments in medicine, but also for the joy he found in time spent with those he loved most.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Shannon Care at Home, especially Maria Saucedo, Tonya Camarillo, and Aliyah Payne who became a cherished part of the family through their compassion and care.

A celebration of life will be held Thursday, May 14, 2026 at Grace Christian Church at 1:00 pm. A reception will immediately follow in the Fellowship Hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to West Texas Rehabilitation Center or Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital.

Joel Wayne Halfmann

05/13/2026 - 10:41 , by TKing09

Joel “Joey” Wayne Halfmann, 59, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family after a hard-fought battle with prostate cancer, which he was diagnosed with in 2019. Joey faced every challenge with grit, determination, and unwavering faith in God, never allowing his illness to take away the strength and spirit that defined him.

Born on February 16, 1967, in San Angelo to Tex and Barbara Halfmann, Joey was raised with the values of hard work, loyalty, and faith that he carried proudly throughout his life. He graduated from Garden City High School before attending Texas State Technical Institute. Joey went on to dedicate many years of service to Concho Valley Electric Cooperative before retiring, where he earned the respect of coworkers and friends alike for his unmatched work ethic, intelligence, and willingness to help anyone in need.

Joey was the definition of a man’s man. Tough, hardworking, and dependable, there truly wasn’t anything he couldn’t do. If something was broken, Joey could fix it. If something needed building, he could build it better than anyone else. He was the kind of man who could figure out anything with his own two hands and never backed down from hard work. People naturally gravitated toward him for advice because chances were, Joey already knew how to do it, and do it right.

The outdoors was where Joey felt most at home. Hunting and fishing weren’t just hobbies to him; they were a way of life. He was especially known for making varmint calls and had a remarkable talent for it. Joey owned and operated Hairy Legged Critter Calls, where he handcrafted and sold varmint calls, combining his creativity, craftsmanship, and love for the outdoors into something he was deeply passionate about. He was also a licensed firearm manufacturer who built and repaired guns with incredible precision and skill. Joey took pride in his craftsmanship, and anyone who knew him knew the care and talent he put into everything he touched.

He was an exceptional marksman, the kind of shooter people talked about with admiration. From 100 yards away, Joey’s shots could group within the size of a dime — a reflection of the patience, focus, and precision he carried into every part of his life. There was never a challenge too big for him to tackle or a skill he couldn’t master once he set his mind to it.

Above all else, Joey loved his family fiercely. He married the love of his life, Janet Halfmann, in 2004, and together they built a life centered around love, faith, family, and devotion to one another. Joey was a devoted husband, loving father, proud son and brother, and the very best “JoJo.” His family was his greatest pride and greatest joy. He was the kind of man who would do absolutely anything for the people he loved.

Some of the best memories made with Joey were the simple moments — sitting outside listening to his stories, learning from him without even realizing it, laughing together, or simply enjoying his presence. Joey never met a stranger. He had a gift for conversation and storytelling, making everyone around him feel welcome, valued, and like an old friend the moment they met him.

Joey was also a devout Catholic whose faith remained steadfast throughout his entire life. His relationship with God guided the way he lived, loved, worked, and cared for others. Throughout his battle with cancer, he leaned heavily on his faith and trusted the Lord through every difficult moment. His strength, courage, and unwavering belief were an inspiration to everyone around him. Even in the face of hardship, Joey remained strong for his family and continued to live with grace, humility, and resilience.

To know Joey was to know loyalty, wisdom, strength, humor, and unconditional love. Though his family’s hearts are broken by this tremendous loss, they find comfort in knowing he is now healed and at peace in the presence of the Lord he trusted so deeply. The stories he told, the lessons he taught, the memories he created, and the love he gave so freely will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Joey was preceded in death by his grandparents Mack and Emma Halfmann and Clarence(CJ) and Eugenia Lange.

He is survived by his wife Janet Halfmann and their chosen children Bella Halfmann(Kaleb) and Riley Jetton. His step children Linsey Floyd(Shane) and Micah Floyd(Bethany) and grandchildren Althea and Vada Floyd. His parents, Tex and Barbara Halfmann, his 3 sisters Lisa Michalewicz, Jackie Droll(Dale), Suzie Dusek(Edward), and brother Russel Halfmann(Kim). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and aunts and uncles.

Joel “Joey” Wayne Halfmann was truly one of a kind — deeply loved, greatly admired, and impossible to forget.

A rosary will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, The mass will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at 2:30 p.m. at St. Ambrose Catholic Church with the burial to follow at St. Ambrose Catholic Cemetery. Jennifer Lorraine Crimm

05/11/2026 - 10:02 , by TKing09

Jennifer Lorraine Crimm, of San Angelo, passed away on May 5, 2026. Born on September 7, 1986. Jennifer lived boldly, loudly, lovingly, and unapologetically herself every single day.

Jennifer was the daughter of Kathryn Crimm and Michael Crimm and Bonus Mom Janice Crimm, beloved sister to Jessica Crimm, and proud aunt to Layla Arledge whom she lovingly referred to as Short Stack. She was preceded in death by her sister Virginia Smalley and her Uncle Bob and cousin Tracy Rudloff and Aunt Kay and cousin Joel Byrd, all of whom no doubt welcomed her with laughter and hugs on the other side.

A 2004 graduate of Lake View High School, Jennifer spent her life wearing many hats - and many uniforms, there was no job too hard for Jennifer, from caregiver to Sales Associate. No matter where she worked, Jennifer left an impression that people never forgot.

To know Jennifer was to know laughter. Walking into a room with her was less of an entrance and more of an event announcement. She had a gift for finding humor in even the most serious situations, often making people laugh when they least expected it - and probably when they were trying hardest not to. But beyond the jokes and playful spirit was someone deeply compassionate, dependable, and loving. When life became difficult, Jennifer had a way of making sure you didn't carry anything by yourself.

Jennifer found joy in simple things: barbecuing outside, sitting by the water with a cold drink in hand, throwing darts, and singing loud and proud without a care who heard her. Her beloved cat, Onya, and dog, Hulk, were her babies, and she loved them fiercely. Jennifer loved hard, and if she loved you, there was never any question about it - she made sure you knew.

Though her absence leaves an ache that words cannot fully express, Jennifer's laughter, stories, and larger-than-life spirit will continue to live on in everyone fortunate enough to have known her.

Services will be held at Robert Massie Funeral Home May 11, 2026 at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Eden Cemetery under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

"Some people quietly leave footprints on your heart. Jennifer kicked the door open, made everybody laugh, and left rainbow glitter everywhere."
