Ruby Joyce “Jackie” Willis passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. She was born October 1, 1936, in Wellman, TX to Samuel and Viola Day.
She graduated as Valedictorian from Loop High School in Loop, TX. After graduation, Jackie moved to Seminole, TX with her sister, Veta, where they worked for the telephone company. She and her husband, Durward Willis, moved to Plains, TX where they lived for over 30 years, raising three daughters. After Durward passed away in 1996, she decided to move to San Angelo in 2000.
Jackie is survived by her two daughters, Dana Blackwood (Clay) of Lubbock, TX and Elaine Bryant of San Angelo, TX; three grandchildren, Jeremy Blackwood (Rebekah) of Forney, TX, Lindsey Blackwood of Dallas, TX, and Tarren Huff (Michael Book) of Bulverde, TX. She was blessed with six great-grandchildren, Aaron Blackwood, Evelynn Blackwood, and Mattilyn Chaput, all of Forney, TX, Ashton Huff, Jaxson Huff and Lexson Huff, all of Bulverde, TX. She also has two surviving sisters, Vesta Smith of Cisco, TX and Faye Beasley of Plainview, TX.
Preceding Jackie in death was her husband, Durward Denver Willis, daughter Karon Willis, grandson, Keenan Hancock, her parents, Samuel and Viola Day. Also preceding her in death was her two brothers, Elvin Day and Foy Day, as well as five sisters, Etta Smith, Veta Cozart, Kay Proctor, Ethline Day, and Theda Lee Day.
Jackie was proud to be a member of Southgate Church of Christ in San Angelo, TX and she is remembered as a strong, kind, and loving Christian woman.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, March 16, 2026, at Southgate Church of Christ with Paul Shero officiating. Visitation will follow in the fellowship hall. She will be laid to rest with her husband at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, March 17, 2026, in Plains, TX at Plains Cemetery.
