Watkins Timothy Neil

02/09/2014 - 20:39 , by johnb
Timothy Neil Watkins, 57 of San Angelo, passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2014.
Family visitation will be Tuesday, February 11, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Johnson's Funeral Home. A celebration of Tim's life will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at Johnson's Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Harold Watkins of Freedom Fellowship Church officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Ballinger, TX.
Pallbearers for the service will be Kenny Bryan, Clark Johnson, Sam Johnson, Marvin Moore, Zeke Palma and Gary Voelkel. Honorary Pallbearers will be Pam Gaston, Amy Watkins, Jason Watkins, Eric Briley and Marla Wilen.
Tim was born on June 26, 1956 in San Angelo to Clifford and Ruth Watkins of Ballinger. Tim married D'Anne Kendrick on February 28, 1981. They have two sons, Zachary Watkins of College Station, TX and Jordan Watkins and wife, Aly, of Denton, TX.
He was the kind of man who thought "how can we" before "why can't we". Tim was an amazing father and a devoted, loving husband. He put his family first in every thought and deed. His legacy of love, commitment and integrity will live on in his sons.
He carried these same values forward as a salesman where he was a friend first to his customers. As the Parts Manager of Roberts Truck Center, he worked tirelessly to help his team exceed set expectations. He received numerous Diamond Club awards for his efforts.
Things Tim felt passionately about – hunting, fishing, NASCAR, Dallas Cowboys, helping found the Armadillos, and rock and roll music. He was a friend to many and always willing to give good advice to anyone who wanted it, but he gave his best advice to his two sons. He both taught and showed them the importance of loving their family, being kind to people, enjoying their lives and living with integrity.
He also showed them how a man should love his wife, in how much love he gave to D'Anne by being her best friend and husband. He was the life of every party, and took vacations with his family nearly every year – even if it meant he had to sell his fishing boat! He always thought about everyone else before he thought about himself, and anyone who knew him well knows this.
Tim is survived by his wife D'Anne; sons Zachary and Jordan, daughter-in-law Aly; brother Cliff Watkins, sister-in-law Janet Watkins; sister Elaine Briley, brother-in-law Billie Briley; stepfather Bill Stovall and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Ruth Watkins Stovall and Clifford Watkins.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Boy Scouts of America or your favorite charity.
