Abbott Marcia

Services for Marcia Abbott, 60, of San Angelo, will be held Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Johnson's Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Steven Sweet of Sierra Vista United Methodist Church officiating.

Marcia was born October 18, 1953 in Big Spring, Texas to Martin and Lillian Staggs. Marcia passed away Friday, July 25, 2014 peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family.

Marcia married Tom Abbott July 21, 1984 and they just celebrated 30 wonderful years together. During their loving marriage they had two children, Katherine Gayle and Kelsey Christine and two beautiful granddaughters, Kenzie and Jaelyn.

Marcia received her Bachelors degree from Texas Tech and her Masters degree from North Texas State and was a speech pathologist at West Texas Rehab Center for many years. She continued her career in private practice. She helped better the lives of many children throughout the years . She was devoted to helping children and had a special interest in autistic children. She was a published author with a book titled "A Shocking Discovery" which gave her thoughts on autism. She was voted an "Outstanding Young Woman of the Year" in 1980. In the last several years she concentrated on being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her girls were her life. She was a member of Sierra Vista United Methodist Church. The family would like to give special thanks to Hospice of San Angelo for their wonderful care and compassion.

Marcia was preceded in death by her father, Martin Staggs and brother Bruce. She is survived by her loving husband, Tom, daughters, Katherine and Kelsey, granddaughters, Kenzie and Jaelyn, mother Lillian Staggs, brother Richard Staggs and wife Dolores, brother Tindall Staggs and wife Margie. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at Johnson's Funeral Home Tuesday, July 29, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM
