Verda Marie Sorrell Reichenau Bryan passed away on February 18, 2015 at the age of 87. Visitation and viewing will be 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, February 20, 2015 at the funeral home with family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Graveside services will be at 11:00a.m., Saturday, February 21, 2015 in London Cemetery, London, Kimble County, Texas. Services are under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home/Grape Creek.
She was born to William “Ellis” Sorrell and Bertha Harbour on September 23, 1927 in Gouldbusk, Texas. Mother married Levin Bryan Jr. on September 12, 1955 in San Angelo, Texas. As an Air Force wife she followed him to several duty stations. It was a blended family and Levin was “Daddy” to all the children and Pop-Pop to the grandkids until his death in May of 1980.
Mother retired from San Angelo State School in 1992. She was an active member of the Concho Pearl Lions Club for twenty three years. As a volunteer she worked at the Eyeglass Recycle Center and Meals for the Elderly
She was preceded in death by her parents; two spouses; two sons, John Karl and Eddie Winfred Reichenau; and daughter Etta Victoria Henley.
Verda is survived by four children, Sandra Freeman and Lucy Bryan of Carlsbad, Texas; Levin Bryan Jr.II and wife Amy of Jacksonville, Florida; Michael Bryan of Grape Creek, Texas; son-in-law Jimmy Henley Sr.; and daughter- in-law, Jennie Beach Reichenau. She is also survived by twenty four Grandchildren: Lynn Crisp, Sandra(Steve)Robinson, Tammy Henley, Jimmy Henley Jr., William (Janice) Henley, Bobby (Christi) Henley, Jenny(Jim) Pitts, Liz(John) Love, Bridget(Scott) Stamper, Jamie Reichenau, Jillian Reichenau, James Anthony Stillwell, Debra Lynn(Ricky) Wright, Tracy Lee(Rob) Calvert, Tina Lambert, James Robertson, Jessica(Michael) Gainey, Angela Freeman, Gary(Leslie) Freeman, Cary Lovelace, Joseph Michael Bryan, Shannon(Shawn) Harrell, Jennifer Leigh Lamb, and Shaun Levin Bryan; fifty four Great Grandchildren,
Fifty six Great Great and thirteen Great-Great-Great Grandchildren.
