Amparo Alcala

Amparo Alcala, 65, was called home to be with her heavenly father on April 12, 2016 in La Vernia, Texas. Amparo was born on October 17, 1950 to Anselmo and Josephina Holguin in San Angelo. Amparo's greatest joy was her family. Her home, especially her kitchen, was her sanctuary. She would feed the world if she could. She nurtured all those around her, especially her pets who, waited religiously every morning for their breakfast egg. She also enjoyed the outdoors, working in the yard and tending to her plants. Amparo retired from Ethicon, as project manager, where her responsibilities took her to Puerto Rico, Juarez, and brief assignments in Scotland and France. She married Dick Alcala on May 17, 1969 and from that lasting, loving union two children were born.

Amparo is survived by her husband Dick Alcala, son, Sergio Alcala and wife Yesenia Alcala, daughter, Natalia Alcala, grandchildren Audaz David Alcala, Cristian Alcala, Selena Amparo Alcala and great-grandchild Cayson Jude Cockerham.

Amparo was preceded in death by her parents and sister Alejandra (Honey) Alvarez. She is survived by brothers, Abel Holguin and wife Albesa Holguin, Anselmo (Chico) Holguin, Jr., sisters Susie Soto and husband Simon Soto, Ana Rodriquez and husband Joe Rodriquez, Angie Menchaca and husband Reyes Menchaca, Adela Ortiz and husband Jimmy Ortiz, Aida Lombrana and husband Bobby Lombrana, and Arlene Garcia and husband Bob Garcia.

She is also survived by her mother in law, Olga Alcala, father-in-law, Augustine Alcala and wife Audelia Alcala, brothers-in-law Tommy Alcala and wife Deborah Alcala, August Alcala Jr. and wife Sandy Alcala, sisters-in-law Cindy Rodriquez, Laura Lee and husband Jim Lee and Donna Chevannes. She was preceded in death by sister-in-law Carol Samaniego.

Also surviving her are numerous adoring nieces, nephews and godchildren.

Rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday, April 29, 2016 at Johnson Funeral Home chapel, San Angelo, Texas. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 30, 2016 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in San Angelo, Texas. Inurnment will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Garden. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to a favorite cancer charity or animal rescue organization. Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson's Funeral Home of San Angelo.

Susan Lynn Hudson

Susan Lynn Hudson, 57, passed away in her home in San Angelo on Friday, April 15, 2016. She was born to Bert Wilson and Doris Evelyn Sanders Hudson on August 31, 1958 at the Travis AFB in Fairfield, California. She worked as a Registered Nurse for a number of years, mainly in hospital settings. She was of the Baptist faith. Susan was a private lady, who adored her family, especially her nieces and nephews. She will be missed greatly by those who knew her. Survivors include her parents, Bert and Doris Hudson; siblings and their spouses, David and Madylon Hudson, Tom and Kathy Hudson, Scott and Michel Hudson, Sandra Kottman, and Pamala and Neil Gessling; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. A time of visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM on Monday, April 18, 2016 in the Johnson's Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 in the Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens with Fr. Stan Burdock officiating.

Paul Alan Nelson

Paul Alan Nelson, 51, of San Angelo, died at his home on Thursday, April 14, 2016. He was born to Gordon Ellis and Isabelle Catherine "Kate" Van Wingen Nelson on September 1, 1964 in Tripoli, Lybia. Paul began his life abroad the minute he was born and continued to experience a lifetime of traveling and different cultures into adulthood. He spent several years most recently in Korea, where he taught students the English language. He was working on his doctorate at the time of his death. It has been said that Paul never met a stranger. It never failed, that no matter where he went, he knew someone or made a new friend. One of his greatest joys was searching out and collecting The Beetles memorabilia. His collection leaves one in awe. Paul's life was full and he will be missed greatly. Paul is preceded in death by his brother, John Mark Nelson. 
Survivors include his parents, Gordon and Kate Nelson; brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Michele Nelson; nieces, Emily, Melanie and Becky; as well as a host of other relatives and friends, including his cat, DJ. 
A time of visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at Johnson's Funeral Home. A graveside celebration of life will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 in the Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson's Funeral Home of San Angelo.

Guillermo Salazar Alvarado

Guillermo Salazar Alvarado, 77, longtime resident of San Angelo, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by loved ones in his home on Friday, April 15, 2016. He was born to the late, Jose and Peidad Salazar Alvarado on February 9, 1939 in San Jose de Morteros, Nieves Zacatecas, Mexico. Guillermo was always proud of his heritage and provided help to countless others wanting to follow his lead to becoming American citizens throughout his lifetime with his wife, Petra. They were married on November 3, 1958 in Matamoros, Coahuila, Mexico. He worked as a foreman in the construction business as well as in ranching and eventually ran his own greenhouse. He was of Christian faith. It has been said that Guillermo was a man of greatness; full of great integrity, great character, great strength and a great ability to give freely of himself, his time and his wisdom. He was a family man, in every sense of the phrase. His children recall his discipline being fair and always accompanied with a lesson. It was just one way his integrity was evident to others. He believed in finishing whatever you may have started and owning your mistakes, always learning from his own and sharing the lesson with others. His tireless devotion to his family and the principles he leaves with them are an inspiration to those he knew. Guillermo will be missed greatly, but his mark on the lives of those he leaves behind will forever live on through his lessons of generosity and love accompanied by respect and a strong will. He was preceded in death by his parents; children, Fernando Alvarado and Maria Alvarado; and sister, Enriqueta A. Martinez. 
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Petra Ramos Alvarado; children, Martha Alvarado, Modesta Alvarado Negron, Yolanda Alvarado, Maria Concepcion Alvarado Rodriguez, Juan Guillermo "Willie" Alvarado, René Alvarado, Ivone Alvarado Manns, Jose Alvarado, and Erick Alvarado; 10 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; siblings, Adela A. Gutierrez, Macario Alvarado, Edmerejilda Alvarado, Paulina A. Puentes, Lazaro Alvarado, and Juana Alvarado Mireles; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. 
A private celebration of life will be held by the Alvarado family. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of San Angelo (HOSA). The family would like to extend special thanks to Laura, Alana, Barbara and all of HOSA as well as to the Pharmacy Team of Baptist Memorial. Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson's Funeral Home of San Angelo.

Jerry Sealy Hambright

Jerry Sealy Hambright, 80 of San Angelo, went to be with the Lord April 15, 2016 at his residence surrounded by his family. Visitation will be 2 PM to 4 PM Sunday, April 17, 2016 at Robert Massie Funeral Home. Visitation in Winnsboro, Texas will be 5 PM to 7 PM Monday, April 18, 2016 at Beaty Funeral Home. Graveside will be 10 AM Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at Little Hope Cemetery. Local services are with Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Jerry was born on June 17, 1935 in Santa Anna, Texas to John and Minnie (Jones) Hambright. Jerry served in the US Navy in Vietnam. Jerry married the love of his life Jerrie Lou on April 13, 1962 in Orange, Texas. He was very hard working. He was the owner and operator of Hambright’s Nuti-Budi nut cracker company before retiring in 2011. Jerry loved life, friends, his family, and embodied Christian values. He never met a stranger. Jerry loved dancing and fishing. Jerry always enjoyed volunteering his time with: San Angelo Chamber Commerce, Fort Concho activities, Lions Club and the Shriners. He was a member of First Baptist Church and most recently Heights Baptist Church.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Virginia Cash.

Jerry is survived by: his wife of 54 years Jerrie Lou Hambright; two sons Michael Hambright and Jade Hambright and wife Judi, all of San Angelo; three grandsons Sealy Hambright, Holt Hambright, and Harrison Hambright; two great-grandsons Liam Hambright and Maks Hambright; and a brother Wesley Hambright.

Louraine Haney Livingston

Louraine Haney Livingston, 74, of San Angelo, Texas, passed away April 12, 2016. She was born in Morgan County, Kentucky. She worked for the federal government as a computer programmer and later was a member of NARFE, an association for retired federal employees. She married John Livingston in 1969.
Louraine and John moved to a farm in northern Kentucky after he retired where they restored a beautiful plantation home. They moved to Patagonia and then Sierra Vista, Arizona for a warmer climate. They ended up in Texas and were quite happy for many years in San Angelo.
Louraine was a loving and caring woman and had a passion for gardening, reading the Bible, cooking and genealogy. She was much loved by friends and family. 
She is survived by her husband, John and stepchildren Cathie, John and Marty. Louraine was preceded in death by her son, Jamie Litteral.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, April 16, 2016, at Johnson Funeral Home Chapel.
