Dwight Wilson Clark of Cumming, GA (originally San Angelo, TX), husband of 42 years to Pat Clark, as well as long-time firefighter and Fire Chief, went home to be with the Lord on March 29, 2016 at the age of 79.
Dwight was born January 21, 1937 to William Glenn Clark (Gingo), a federal firefighter at Goodfellow Air Force Base, and his wife Aleene Elizabeth Wilson Clark (“Mama Lap” or “Libby”) in San Angelo, TX. Dwight was the eldest and grew up with his two brothers, Jerry and Gary, and three sisters, Glenda, Carol, and Ann.
Dwight became a firefighter at the age of 21. He responded to a kitchen fire not even two hours into his first shift. Since that time, Dwight responded to many fires, wrecks, people in need and tragedies. He eventually became Assistant Chief in San Angelo, TX and on his off days, he also worked at the local hospital as an ER paramedic.
He later transferred to Austin, TX and worked there for one year as Fire Chief, before moving to Forsyth, GA (Monroe County). After that time, Dwight accepted a position at the Forsyth County Fire Department and his family ultimately moved to Cumming, GA. He served Forsyth County faithfully for 12 years before retiring in 2013, totaling 54 years in the fire service.
Dwight began and was involved in many additional programs, such as Project Baby Save, First Care, Space Makers, TERC, and many more. All of these programs are examples of Dwight’s need for safety and care for people and fire fighters. He loved his job and loved helping people.
Dwight taught extrication and safety in Mexico, Canada, England, South Africa, Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, and throughout the US including at least 24 states. He judged competitions and has been an expert witness. He was a leading expert in the field of extrication. He wrote for eight international magazines and, for approximately 11 years, he wrote for FireRescue Magazine.
Dwight was a Master Mason of Concho Lodge #1260 and a Past Worthy Patron of Concho Chapter 826 Order of the Eastern Star, now affiliated with San Angelo Chapter 10.

Margaret L. Contreras

03/27/2016 - 14:14 , by johnb

Margaret L. Contreras, 94 of San Angelo, passed away Friday, March 25, 2016 in a local care center. Rosary will be 7 PM Monday, March 28, 2016 at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be 2 PM Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Father Joey Faylano officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Services are with Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Margaret was born on February 14, 1922 to Edward and Juanita (Robles) Labrada in Lawton, OK. She married Joe B. Contreras in 1946 in San Angelo. Margaret was a great cook, devoted wife, and loving mother. She was a stay at home mother, and raised all four of her children with her husband Joe B. Contreras. She loved the outdoors, and would go fishing with her husband or sit outside in the sun with her rose bushes. Margaret loved the colors pink and red, and wore them often. She was feisty, strong-willed, and had an incredible strength in her to overcome any obstacle that arose or any task placed before her. She enjoyed having her children and grandchildren around her, and always had something prepared to offer them to eat. Margaret had a happy disposition, and was always laughing. Her laughter was contagious, and she was incredibly affectionate, never running out of hugs or kisses. She was a little night owl, and would enjoy staying up late watching her novelas. She loved many things, but one thing she disliked was wearing shoes. She was always barefoot if she could help it. She would sit and knit, all the while moving her foot as if to some music only she heard. More than anything, Margaret loved her family, and was always there if you needed her. She was a very strong person and she was the rock of our family. Now the family tree, she and my grandpa created, grows on that rock and her strength and tenacity for life will live on in us. We love you so much, Grandma. God keep you.

Margaret was preceded in death by: her parents, her husband Joe B. Contreras on April 25, 1993, five sisters and a brother.

She is survived by: her children, Virginia Cook and companion Timothy Clark, Joe L. Contreras and wife Debra Fierro, Mary Ellen Montelongo and husband Freddy, and Janie C. Garcia and husband Adam, all of San Angelo; her brother, Edward Labrada Jr. of Oklahoma City, OK; six grandchildren, Rita Nicole Scott, Eugene Alexander Trevino, James Michael Cook, Christie Barbosa, Roger Contreras, and Stacy Trevino; eight great-grandchildren, Joseph Scott, Virginia Latane Scott, Austin Contreras, Justin Contreras, Katherine Cantu, Kristian Barbosa, James Cook, and Charlie Cook; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Pallbearers will be: Eugene Alexander Trevino, James Michael Cook, Roger Contreras, Joseph Scott, Adam Garcia, Freddy Montelongo, Kimo Scott, and Memo Barbosa. Honorary pallbearers will be Austin Contreras, Justin Contreras, and Kristian Barbosa.

The family would like to extend our sincere thanks to the the staffs of Senior Care, Shannon Medical Center, Senior Care of Meadow Creek, and Hospice of San Angelo for their care during Margaret’s life.
