Jack David Dunlap

David Jack Dunlap, 83, passed away Tuesday, February 15, 2022, in Big Lake

No services are scheduled at this time. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Mr. Dunlap was born January 22, 1939 in Brownfield to Andrew and Jamie Dunlap. Jack was a resident of Big Lake the last 15 years, close to his brother and sister. Jack was a master pool player and had lots of fun betting on the game. Rest In Peace and keep that pool stick chalked!

He is survived by his children, Jack Dunlap of Midlothian, Pam Henley of Weeches, and Janet Dunlap of Midlothian; grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; nieces, Charletta Collins, Crystal Quinney, and Michelle Watson. He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Dan Dunlap; a sister, Joyce Quinney; and a grandson, Buford Dunlap.

Sherry Jean Roland, 84, of San Angelo passed away Wednesday, February 16, 2022 in San Angelo.

Public viewing will be from 10:00 AM - 8:00 PM Monday, February 21, 2022 at Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM Monday, February 21, 2022 at Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel with Rev. Allan C. Eckert, pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Sherry was born on March 6, 1937 in Clay, Kentucky to Oyd and Pauline Hearion Vaughn. Sherry graduated from Webster County High School in Clay, Kentucky and attended Murray State University. She and Ken Roland had a two week whirlwind courtship before they were married on September 22, 1955

They moved to San Angelo in 1970, when Ken was transferred to Goodfellow Air Force Base. She worked as an Operations Clerk at AAFES at Goodfellow for 20 years, retiring in 1993. Sherry enjoyed cooking, reading, a good practical joke, and spending time with her close friends. She loved it when her granddogs would come visit. Sherry was a member at Trinity Lutheran Church. She lost her loving husband on August 8, 2011.

Survivors include a daughter, Lisa Ann Roland and husband Harvey Haney of Austin; a son, Dan Roland and wife Ena Pullman of Keizer, Oregon; two granddaughters, Kellee Ann Roland and Sabrina Pauline Roland; three great grandchildren; and three granddogs (Franklin, John, and Lucy Bell).

Sherry will be remembered as a strong, independent, and loving mother, wife, and friend.

Jeanne Estrada, 70, of San Angelo passed away on Monday, February 14, 2022 in San Angelo.

Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Friday, February 18, 2022 at Calvary Catholic Cemetery with Deacon John Rangel, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Mrs. Estrada was born on June 12, 1951 in San Angelo to Jose and Frances Deleon Najera. Jeanne married Jose G. Estrada on September 25, 1981. He passed away on March 26, 2003. She worked for many years at Ethicon. Later, Jeanne worked at San Angelo Community Hospital and then at River Crest Hospital as a dietician for 15 years each. She loved listening to music with friends and spending time with her family.

Survivors include three sons, Arnulfo Aguilar, Jr. and wife Michelle of San Antonio, Robert Aguilar and Mario Aguilar and wife Denice, all of San Angelo; a stepson, Ernest Estrada and wife Jackie of San Angelo; two stepdaughters, Elsa Estrada and Josephine Espinoza and husband Robert, all of San Angelo; two brothers, Joe Hernandez of Hobbs, New Mexico and Julian Hernandez of San Angelo; and 28 grandchildren.

Rebecca Vargas, 64, passed away Friday, 11, 2022, in San Angelo.

Public viewing will from 9:00 AM until 8:00 PM Friday, February 18, 2022, Robert Massie Riverside Chapel with the rosary being prayed at 6:00 PM. Mass will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, February 19, 2022, at St Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.

Rebecca was born November 21, 1957 in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico to Francisco Cabrera and to Ramona Rosas Gomez Cabrera later moved to California where she met her husband Juan Bernal Vargas. Then later they had two sons Juan Manuel Vargas and Ramiro Vargas. Rebecca enjoyed spending time with family and friends especially her three her grandkids, Juan Manuel Vargas, Jazmine Yvonne Vargas and Zenaida Lizette Vargas. Rebecca's laughter was contagious and pure. Her face unbreakable. Her joy and positivity were one to uplift anyone. She fought cervical cancer twice and won each time. Her life was not always easy, but she lived like it was. Rebecca will be missed greatly, but take peace in knowing she is in heaven, and we will be with her again someday.

Rebecca is survived by her husband, Juan Bernal Vargas; two sons, Juan Manuel Vargas and Ramiro Vargas; her mother, Ramona Rosas Cabrera; her brothers, Jose Cabrera, Pedro Cabrera, Antonio Cabrera, Francisco Cabrera, Federico Cabrera, Rosario Cabrera; two sisters, Lucia Cabrera, and Delia Cabrera. Rebecca was preceded in death by her father, Francisco Cabrera.

Jesus Enrique "Henry" Diaz

Jesus Diaz, 66, of San Angelo passed away Thursday, February 10, 2022 in San Angelo.

Graveside services were at 10:00 AM Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Fairmount Cemetery under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Mr. Diaz was born January 16, 1956 in Acuña, Mexico to Luis and Maria Reyes Diaz. Jesus married Francisca Saldivar on January 3, 1976 in Acuña, Mexico. He was a home remodeler and restored cars for numerous years. In 1999, he went to work for Education Service Center Region 15 in the maintenance department and at the time of his death he was a maintenance supervisor. Jesus was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was a Bishop for 10 years. He enjoyed traveling and relaxing at the beach.

Jesus is survived by his wife of 46 years, Fransisca Saldivar Diaz; four children, Edna Yvonne Diaz, Jesus Enrique Diaz, Jr., Celeste Stephanie Diaz, and Dillan Ryan Diaz; eight grandchildren, Angela Maria Diaz, Hayden Wray Hess, Landon Marshall Hess, Luis Enrique Diaz, Kendra Ava Hess, Cevana Jay Hess, Nataly Sophia Diaz, and Elvin Riggs Hess.

Clifford Wayne Owens

Clifford Wayne Owens, 62, of San Angelo, Texas transitioned from earth to Heaven on Saturday morning February 12, 2022, into the loving arms of Jesus. He will be ready for viewing from 8am to 7:00pm on Thursday, February 17, 2022, at Harper Home; 2606 Southland Blvd., San Angelo, Texas. The funeral service will be held on Friday, February 18, 2022, at 1:00pm @ Southgate Church of Christ; 528 Country Club Rd. 

Clifford Wayne Owens was born in San Angelo, Texas on August 12, 1959, to Annie Lois Hall Owens and Tony Owens. He confessed Christ at an early age, uniting with Mount Zion Baptist Church. 


As a child Clifford moved to Ft. Worth with his mother, returning to San Angelo as a young lad to attend Blackshear Elementary, only to return to Ft. Worth to attend William James Jr. High, then on to Polytech High School. 


As an adult he was employed as a cook for the Ft. Worth ISD. Later, Clifford returned to San Angelo to continue his chosen career as a cook, working at Cheddar's, Henry's, RJ's, Logans Steak House, Chili's & many other popular restaurants. 

Clifford was known for sending cards with Bible verses. He never forgot birthdays or other special occasions. He had a sweet and soothing spirit; that was unmatched. He always called his family to check on them even when he didn’t feel well himself. And of note, it has been said that each and every morning he called his earthly father Tony and check on how he was doing. He was a member of Southgate Church of Christ, and his church family meant the world to him as it has not gone unnoticed that they loved him unconditionally. 

Clifford was preceded in death by his mother, Annie Lois Owens, grandparents Jesse and Sarah Hall & Earo King. Also, uncles J. B Hall & Don Hall Sr. He is survived by his father Tony Owens, brother Tony Edward (Jacqueline), Terri Ann Owens, Arthur Edward Wilson (Ella), BB Owens & Eve Smith. Also surviving are aunts Frances Hall & Margaret Hall. In addition, he leaves to cherish a host of other family & friends. 

2Timothy 4; I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith; henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness. Indeed Son, indeed.

Maria Esperanza Leyva

Our beloved mother, Maria Esperanza Leyva, passed away early on Valentine's Day, February 14, 2022, at her home from pancreatic cancer.


Public viewing will be from 10:00 AM until 8:00PM Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at Robert Massie Funeral Home.  


Prayer services will be 6:00 PM Wednesday at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel.


Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, February 17, 2022 at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel with Pastor Lupe Mata, pastor at Oasis Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Lawnhaven Cemetery under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Directors.


Mrs. Leyva was born on January 7, 1939 in El Tepac, Coahulia, Mexico to Antoniao Carmen Carbajal Escobar. Esperanza married Presentacion "Chon" Leyva on September 8, 1956 and he preceded her in death. They moved to San Angelo in 1961. She was a blessed to be a housewife, to raise her children, and to love her family. Esperanza was very admired by anyone who knew her. She was a member of Segunda Iglesia. Esperanza loved to sew, being outdoors at the "ranchito", and reading her Bible. She and her husband's special flower was the Iris.


Survivors include four sons, Fernando Leyva, Rodrigo Leyva, Juan Leyva and wife Betsy, and Jacinto Leyva and wife Marsela; one daughter, Martha Ponsetti and husband Steve; special cousin Minerva Munoz; 14 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and 1 great great-grand daughter.

He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death'[b] or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."
He who was seated on the throne said, "I am making everything new!"

Vaughnie Boyd Gilly

Vaughnie Boyd Gilly, 75, of San Angelo passed away February 13, 2022, surrounded by his family. He was born July 31, 1946, in San Angelo to Victor and Ina Gilly. He married Kay Joseph Gilly on June 14, 1969, and was blessed with two children. 

Vaughn was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and friend to many. He loved tinkering in the garage, restoring furniture and lamps, finding treasures at junk stores, watching the Dallas Cowboys but most of all family vacations. His greatest love was spending time with his grandchildren. 

Vaughn spent his career in retail at Warren Drug, Accent on Gifts, Georgia’s, Nathan’s and Holland Jewelry. 

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Kay; daughter Jennifer Stringer and husband Michael, son Jeff Gilly and wife Calista; four grandchildren, Brittany Miller and Briley Stringer, Jaiden and Kenzie Gilly; great-granddaughter Lillie Miller; and one sister, Vicki Johnson and husband John. He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Ina Gilly and brother, Gene Gilly. 

A visitation will be held on Friday, February 18, 2022, at Harper Funeral Home from 5:00 – 7:00pm. 

In lieu of flowers, please make memorial gifts to Hospice of San Angelo or a charity of your choice. 

The family would like to thank Hospice of San Angelo for their loving care, especially Nurse Laura.
