Johnny Ray Hudson, 90, of San Angelo passed away on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 with his family by his side.
Viewing will be from 10:00 AM - 8:00 PM on Friday, August 4, 2023 at Robert Massie Funeral Home with family visitation from 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM. Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, August 5, 2023 at Fairmount Cemetery with Pastor William Rosser, officiating.
Mr. Hudson was born on November 17, 1932 in San Saba on the McNurlen Farm to his parents, Oak and Mabel McNurlen Hudson. He graduated from San Angelo High School in 1951 and was drafted into the US Army in 1953. Johnny served in Okinawa during Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1955. He married Joanne Stewart on December 21, 1956 in San Angelo. Johnny spent most of his life in San Angelo. He worked as a transformer winder at SESCO from 1951 until 1968. In 1966 Johnny went to work at Ethicon and retired in 1995 as a machine mechanic. He coached his son's baseball teams, enjoyed fishing and hunting, and spending time with family. Johnny loved hanging out with his grandson, Hudson. He loved talking to anyone who would listen, especially at the grocery store.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Lonnie Hudson; and a baby sister, Mary Alice Hudson.
Johnny is survived by his wife of 66 years, Joanne of the home; his two children, Steve Hudson and wife Valerie of Miles and Kelli Hudson of San Angelo; three granddaughters, Kelsey Jetton and husband Justin of San Angelo, Sterling Renae McSpadden and husband Tyler of China Spring, and Holly Shae Hudson of San Angelo; and three great-grandchildren, Hudson Jetton, Olivia Gene McSpadden, and Stevie Rae McSpadden.
The Hudson family would like to thank Hospice of San Angelo for their love and compassionate care for Johnny.
