Lockie Sue Griswold Bissett, 85, of San Angelo passed away on July 31, 2023, in San Angelo, Texas.
Lockie was born on January 27, 1938, in Midland, Texas to Edward H. and Naomi Bullard Griswold.
She graduated from the Hockaday School in 1956, Howard College in 1995 and attained her degree as a Registered Nurse from Angelo State University in 1996. She worked on the Adolescent Forensic Program at North Texas State Hospital in Vernon, Texas prior to returning to San Angelo in 2003. While in Vernon, she was blessed to serve Grace Episcopal Church as a Lay Reader, Eucharist Minister, Lay Eucharist Visitor and Catechist. In the absence of a priest, she alone conducted Morning Prayer many times.
She was a member of the Junior League of San Angelo, Women’s League of Ozona, and San Angelo Symphony Guild. She was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church where she was a member of the Altar Guild and the Order of Daughters of the King.
Lockie was loved and admired by so many. She will be remembered for her incredible memory of family history, her love of animals, and her quick wit.
Lockie was preceded in death by her parents, a third born son Luke Chandler, step-mother Marguerite Griswold, sister Patricia Jane Martin, brothers Dr. E. H. Griswold III, Dr. James A. Griswold, Dr. George B. Griswold, and great granddaughter, Scarlett Hadley Bissett.
She is survived by her two sons, William E. Chandler-Bissett of Ozona and Wayne A. Chandler-Bissett of Midland; four grandchildren, Nace Bissett, Georgia Blaine Bissett Kerbow of Rocksprings, and James and Robin Bissett of Midland; four wonderful great grandchildren, Reverdy and Zella Kerbow and Olivia and Barrett Bissett; and special friends, Richard and Diane Fiveash.
Memorial service and interment of ashes will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 11, 2023 at Emmanuel Episcopal Church with Reverend Matt Rowe officiating.
