Gloria Gaitan, 60, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2022. She was born on December 4, 1961 to Maria Gaitan in Lubbock, Tx.

Gloria attended Central high school and later graduated from Howard College as a surgical technologist. She spent several years working along side her mother at R.G. Barry and would later use her degree to work at Community hospital. Gloria would then find fulfillment in working for 3M in Brownwood, Tx until her passing. She worked there for almost 20 years. Gloria had a deep love for travel. Whether in a car or on the back of a Harley, she was always ready to hit the road. She would travel all over Texas to attend her grandchildren’s events, but she always had a special place in her heart for greater distances. One of her most treasured memories was her time spent in Egypt. She had a passion for the culture and had the time of her life realizing her dream. If Gloria wasn’t traveling, you could find her on the porch with a cold beer in her hand and some rock music on the radio.

Gloria is preceded in death by both of her parents, son-in-law Sean Sutton and niece Ana Maria Gaitan. She is survived by her children Charles Gaitan and significant other Amber; Monique Chantelle Robinson and husband Ryan; grandchildren Jasmine Sanders, Michael Gaitan and fiancé Hailey, Lauren and Randall Robinson. Gloria leaves behind her siblings; Teresa Doty, Alise Biggs/ husband Tony, Guillermo “Bill” Gaitan, Irene O’neal/ husband Tony. She also leaves behind her beloved friend and bonus sister, Ramona Adams; bonus grandchildren Daniel, Gabriel and Yvette Ruiz, great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and of course her 3M family. “Alis volat propiis - She flies with her own wings.”

A celebration to honor Gloria’s memory will be held at Harper’s funeral home on September 3, 2022 from 3pm to 5pm.

Alicia R. Reyes, 88, of San Angelo passed away Sunday, August 21, 2022.

Viewing will be from 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel with a prayer service at 6:00 PM.  Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Thursday, August 25, 2022 at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel with Pastor Catarino Cedillo, pastor at Iglesia de Dios, officiating.  Burial will follow in Lawnhaven Cemetery under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Mrs. Reyes was born on July 21, 1934 to Abundio and Sylvina Rodriguez in Bigfoot.  Alicia married Panfilo “Fred” Reyes on March 15, 1955.  He passed away in 2014.  She was a housekeeper at various motels, was an egg inspector at M-Systems for 10 years, and worked at Shannon and Baptist Memorial Hospitals.  She enjoyed playing bingo, going to casinos, thrift stores and spending time with her family.  Alicia was a member of Iglesia de Dios and volunteered when needed.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Lorenzo Lopez III.

Survivors include seven children, Lorenzo Lopez of San Angelo, Martha Reyes of Lubbock, Marcy Reyes and Adam Reyes, both of San Angelo, Moses Reyes of Las Vegas, Nevada, Joe Reyes and Israel Reyes, both of San Angelo; a sister, Beatrice Hinojos of San Angelo; two nieces, Nellie Sosa and Eva Jio; 15 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren.

Fidelia “Fide” Guerrero, 74, of San Angelo passed away on Friday, August 19, 2022.

Memorial services will be at 7:00 PM Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at Bethel Assembly of God with Rev. Israel Flores, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Mrs. Guerrero was born on August 11, 1948 in Acuña, Mexico to Pablo and Olivia Guerrero.  “Fide,” as most people knew her, started working at a very young age in the cotton fields of West Texas & in Pocatello, Idaho, her favorite, where she worked picking potatoes.

At about the age of 29, Fide began her career as a custodian for the San Angelo Independent School District at Glenmore Elementary. She stayed there for approximately 12 years until 1990 when she was diagnosed with Leukemia. After her battle with Leukemia from which she was healed, she went back to the SAISD and picked up right where she left off by taking care of Lakeview High School. Fide retired with 23 years of service.

Fide then took on the challenge of raising grandchildren, and she would actually demand to babysit. Sometimes she would ask that the children be allowed to spend the night, even with several cleaning jobs to do. She managed as many as four part-time cleaning jobs, but you could never tell due to her always being on the move. She especially liked cleaning the offices at Surety Title & Concho Bail Bonds. Her favorite times with family included hanging out & eating, and she was known in the family circle for her guizo. Everybody knew her as the “Enforcer” of the family.  

In 2018, Fidelia was diagnosed with on-set dementia. Early on, she began forgetting little things, such as where she was going, speed limits, and what she liked to eat. She never forgot a few stories from long ago, such as her healing from Leukemia, but more and more as time went on, she began to lose her memory. Although many “Docs” tried to encourage her to take her meds & eat right, she would always say they didn’t know what they were talking about. That was the dementia talking.

A testament to her undeniable work ethic, Fide continued working three part-time jobs up until just before her decline. She was a great mother, grandmother, sister, and friend and will be missed by those she loved so well.  

Fide was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Katrina Hernandez, a sister, Martha Hernandez, and a brother, Eliseo Guerrero.

She is survived by four sons, Mike Hernandez and wife Elisa, Nick Hernandez, James Hernandez and wife Maria Ramirez, and Joe Lee Ynojosa and wife April, all of San Angelo; three sisters, Mary Arnold of Pocatello, Idaho, Hermelinda Robles and husband Reggie and Dalila Caballero, both of San Angelo; four brothers, Paul Guerrero and wife Diane, Joe Guerrero and wife Virginia, Ruben Guerrero and wife Lindell all of Pocatello, Idaho, and Oscar Guerrero and wife Debbie of San Angelo; 10 grandchildren, Joshua, Kelsey, Nichole, Elizabeth, Mackenzie, Dustin, Cody, Diamond, Esme, J.J., and Jocelyn; and two great grandchildren, Natalie Martin and Logan Hernandez.

William Bennett “Bill” Russ, 77, of San Angelo passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2022. Bill was born on August 22, 1944, in Austin, Texas. He was the oldest of two sons born to Jimmie B. and Cleola M. Russ. He graduated from McCallum High School (Austin) and attended the University of Texas. Bill transferred to Texas A&M University where he received a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Wildlife Science. He was a member of Alpha Zeta honors fraternity at Texas A&M. He Married Cindy Lynn Montz on June 3, 1967, in Austin. 

Bill proudly served as an officer in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1971. He immediately went to work as a wildlife biologist for Texas Parks and Wildlife and spent the majority of his career in Sanderson, Texas where he met many people over his 29-year career. Upon his retirement he became a hunting outfitter in Pecos and Terrell Counties. He was a lifelong fisherman (especially fishing at Lake Amistad) and hunter (especially hunting in Texas and Wyoming). He loved the outdoors and spending it with best friends Bill Coursey, Rick Davidson, Larry Hawkins, Jerry Laycock, Mark Marshall, and Talmage Marshall. He also made many trips with his cousin Leroy Hart. 

He is survived by his wife, his daughter, a brother, and several nieces and cousins. 

The family would like to thank Solaris Hospice for the care he received during his final days. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice. Bill and Cindy will be together forever in a niche at Fairmount Cemetery.

Hisidoro Aguilar Belman, Sr., 92 years old of Eldorado, Texas passed away August 20, 2022, in San Angelo, TX. 

Hisidoro A. Belman was born April 4th, 1930, in Eldorado, Texas to Mr. Martin Belman Sr. and Prudencia Aguilar Belman. 

Mr. Belman (Lolo) took over his father’s sheep shearing business at an early age of 16, when his father passed leaving to assist his mother to raise his siblings. 

He continued to sheep shear within the states of Texas, California, Arizona, South Dakota, Montana, and Nevada taking his family. He met and married his wife, Luz Hernandez Belman in El Centro, California and settled in Eldorado, TX. 

Mr. Belman previously worked for Texas department of transportation in the construction of interstate I-10 in the 60s. He also worked at the cemetery in the city of Dixon, California. Mr. Belman along with his wife owned a restaurant in Eldorado, Texas. 

Mr. Belman enjoyed serving the community making himself available to anyone in need. He volunteered his services with the Radio Venta de America delivering emergency supplies in disaster situations. 

He was a lifetime member for the Knights of Columbus within the Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church of Eldorado, TX. Mr. Belman enjoyed spending time with family and friends attending football games, being an avid fan of the Eldorado eagles and Central High School. 

Mr. Belman is survived by his sons, Victor Belman and wife Sylvia Belman, Hisidoro H. Belman, Jr. his daughters, Cecilia Castaneda and husband Baltazar Castaneda, and Corinna Belman Villa and husband Orlando Villa, siblings, Linda Lewis and husband Dennis Lewis, Lidia Guerrero and Josie Knight, twelve grandchildren, twenty three great grandchildren and also numerous nieces and nephews. 

Mr. Belman is preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Prudencia Belman, wife, Luz Belman; daughters Veronica Shockley and Lourdes Belman, brothers, Miguel Belman, Demetrio Belman, Martin Belman, Jr., sisters, Emma Gonzalez, and Maria Torres. 

A rosary will be held 4:00pm on Sunday, August 28, 2022, at Harper Funeral Home in San Angelo, TX. Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00pm on Monday, August 29, 2022, at Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Eldorado, TX. Burial to follow at Eldorado Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jon Belman, Moses Belman, Cristino Hernandez, Ernesto Rangel, Reynaldo Pasillas, and Estevan Pasillas. Honorary pallbearers are Anthony Lopez and Bobby Dale Millican.

Mary “Nena” Sandoval, 74, of San Angelo passed away after a long battle with cancer.

Viewing will be from 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM on Monday, August 22, 2022 at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel with Rosary being said at 6:00 PM.  Mass will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at Holy Angels Catholic Church with The Very Rev. Mrs. Sandoval was born on July 22, 1948 in Berclair to Albert and Eva Garces.  She started working for GTE in accounts payable in 1973 and retired from Verizon in 2003.  Mary married Robert Sandoval on her birthday, July 22, 1985 in San Angelo.  Everyone knew not to bother her when she was watching her two favorite shows, The Young and the Restless and Judge Judy.  She was involved with ACTS as a director and attended many of their retreats, taught CCD at Holy Angels Catholic Church, and enjoyed playing Bunko with friends.  Mary loved spending time with her family and attending her grandchildren’s events.  She battled cancer for 12 years, and last year she marked riding in a hot air balloon off her bucket list.

Mary is survived by her husband, Robert of the home; her five children, Melissa Delarosa and wife Elsa of San Angelo, Melinda Vasquez and husband Shorty of North Richland Hills, Mary Stanfill of San Antonio, Art Gonzales, Jr. and wife Julie of San Angelo and Bobby Sandoval, Jr. of San Angelo; two brothers, Albert Garces, Jr. and wife Maggie of Beeville and Jesse Garces, Sr. of San Angelo; a sister, Mary Jane Fuentes of San Angelo; 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Edward Joseph "Joe" Gorski was called home to his heavenly father on Thursday August 18, 2022 surrounded by his family and friends. 

Joe was an amazing father to his baby girl, Megan, his son Joey and to his stepdaughter, Ashley. He was an amazing grandpa to his grandson, Martin Valdez, who was his pride and joy! His only granddaughter, Brayleigh and his unborn grandson Kason. Joe was an avid pool player and always ran the pool tables. Joe was a handyman and could fix anything and everything. Joe never met a stranger. He loved his Harley and his dog Gina. He was a diehard Cowboy’s fan and was a beast on the grill. His specialty was ribs! 

Left to cherish his memories are his baby girl, Megan Valdez and her husband Luis; his son, Joey; his stepdaughter, Ashley;. his grandson, Martin Valdez; his granddaughter and fishing buddy, Brayleigh; and his unborn grandson, Kason; his sister, Ani Drake; his sister, Angila Montez; his best friend, Matthew "Tank" Horton and wife Karla Jo; and the many friends that became family to him.

Fly High Daddy! Dance your heart out and kick some butt in domino's! We all love you and miss you so much daddy! We will see you again!

Thomas L. Byrd, Jr., 86, of Big Lake, Texas went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 20, 2022, in Big Lake surrounded by his loving family. Tom was born April 4, 1936, in Amarillo, Texas. He spent his early years in Ranah, Logan, Santa Rosa and Tucumcari, New Mexico and near Mancos, Colorado. After joining the United States Army in 1956, he served in El Paso, Texas; Olympia, Washington; France; Germany and South Korea. While in Korea, he met and married Ki Chun “Judy” Chung. After leaving the Army in 1960, Tom worked in eastern New Mexico and the panhandle of Texas as a truck driver and later as a diesel mechanic. 

Tom and his family moved to Eldorado, Texas in 1973 where he worked all over West Texas for Pool Company. Moving to Big Lake, Texas in 1985, he married Marian Sue Hendrix on January 13, 1989. After retiring from Pool Company in 2008, Tom was active in the music program of Reagan County Care Center and the First Baptist Church of Big Lake. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tommy, and Leta Byrd; his wife Ki Chun Byrd; and his sister Zoe Griegas. Tom is survived by his wife Marian Sue; his children Jim Bob Byrd; Jerry Byrd; and Mary Byrd Huff; and stepson Mark Hendrix, as well as grandchildren Caleb Huff and Hannah Huff; brother Edgar Byrd; sister Letabeth Littlejohn; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. 

Tom loved the Lord and enjoyed singing his praises. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 P.M., on Saturday, August 27, 2022, at the First Baptist Church of Big Lake with a family visitation to follow in the Fellowship Hall.

Mary Ellen Garcia, 62, passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2022, in San Angelo.

Public viewing will be from 10:00 AM until 8:00 PM, August 18, 2022, at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Mass will be at 10:00 AM Friday, August 19, 2022, with Father Juan Lopez-Cortes, officiating. Burial will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Garcia was born December 25, 1959 in Ft. Collins, Colorado to Pedro and Juanita Garcia. Mary has been a resident of San Angelo since 1960, living for a time in Miami. Mary has been a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mary enjoyed antique and thrift shopping. She loved spending time with her dog, Oreo, and her family and friends including her grandchildren. Mary was a caretaker in San Angelo to several families.

Survivors include her daughter, Stacy Pachicano and husband Fabian Gomes; her son, Ysabelo Garcia and wife Jazmine Valencia Garcia; four sisters, Eva Trejo, Francisca Ponce, Lydia Garcia and Bertha Garcia; two brothers, Pedro Garcia, Jr., Jesse Garcia; 10 grandchildren, Marcus, Mary, Anthony, Kayla, Mariah, Matthew, Nevaeh, Allieanna, Olivia, and Sophia; five great grandchildren, Marianna, Elena, Lynnette, Alazia, and Ariceli all of San Angelo. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Marcus Garcia; and two grandsons, Xavier Valencia, and Jesse Garcia.
