Dana Cammack

03/21/2022 - 10:41 , by TKing09

On Wednesday, March 16, 2022, surrounded by singing, prayers, and family, Dana Lynn Cammack was welcomed into the arms of his dear savior, Jesus Christ.

Dana was born in Brownwood, Texas on January 24, 1950 to Elbert and Geraldine. He attended schools in Texas, New Mexico and Alaska. He loved spending summers at Nannie Rea and Grandad’s farm as a child, enjoying family and being a true boy working and exploring on the farm.

After graduating high school in Lovington, NM, Dana began working for GTE in 1969. He also joined the Army National Guard serving from 1970-1975. In 1981 he married Elizabeth “Libby” Springer. In 1991 he and Libby were transferred to San Angelo where he spent his remaining years and enjoyed being closer to his extended family.

Dana enjoyed the outdoors, camping, fishing and hunting. He shared these gifts with his kids and grandkids, teaching them how to be patient, slow down, and be safe with these activities. From sports and nature to fine arts, he was actively involved in his children’s lives, fully supporting their dreams, education, and aspirations.

More than anything, Dana loved his family. He would tell you it was his greatest treasure and prized possession. From the annual Graves’ reunion to weekend trips away, he enjoyed being silly, telling jokes, and laughing with his family more than anything. Affectionately known as “Granpa” since 2001, he and Libby traveled the country chasing their kids and grandkids at their many events. He shined with pride as he cheered on all his grandkids' many activities, never hesitating to share how proud he was to share in their experiences.

Dana was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert “Mac” Cammack and Geraldine Wilson. He leaves behind many family members who loved him dearly, Libby Cammack, his wife of 41 years; sister Sandra Mocharnuk, her husband John of Weatherford, niece Alyssa and husband Joe of Massachusetts, and niece Kyla of Florida. His children: son, Eric Springer, wife, Juli, and daughters Breanne and Bailey of Lubbock; daughter Jennifer Farrar, her husband Tim, and granddaughter Reese of Abilene, daughter Heather Bolin, husband Jody, and grandchildren Linden and Beckam Mack of Lubbock. He also leaves behind an immense legacy of love with each member of the Graves Family and a network of loving friends, lifelong friends of their children, and a community who knew he was a generous person, devoted family man, and loving soul.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 20, 2022, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at Harper Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 21, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Southland Baptist Church.

Alton "Al" Hooker

03/16/2022 - 07:47 , by TKing09

Alton (Al) Hooker passed away March 5, 2022, peacefully at his home at the age of 85.

Al was born in Mereta, Texas on August 3, 1936, to Agnes and Verdo Hooker. He grew up in San Angelo and joined the United States Air Force right out of high school.

22 years in the Air Force allowed Al to travel to many parts of the world and to truly appreciate the many blessings he was afforded in the United States.

The dental field was Al's chosen career. He served proudly in Military clinics for his first 22 years and an additional 22 years in Civil Service in the dental clinic at Goodfellow Air Force Base in San Angelo until his retirement in 2004.
Al was proud of his many accomplishments and awards but always looked forward to retirement so he could spend special time with his children and grandchildren.

Al is survived by his wife of 32 years, Patricia Hooker who loved him dearly thru thick and thin.
Al had two sons Dr. Ronny Hooker and wife, Karen, and Michael Hooker. Whether playing golf with Ronny or those beautiful daily visits under his many pecan trees with Michael, Al treasured every minute he had with his boys.

His six grandchildren constantly made him proud with their presence and many accomplishments. He was ready and excited to attend any function his children and grandchildren participated in including but not limited to wheelchair basketball, football, cheerleading, track, dance recitals, Play days, trail rides, BBQs, parades and more! Grandchildren are Jackie Bailey, Jessica Bailey, Jordan Bailey, Dr. Sara Halfmann and spouse, Jake, Katie Lombardo and spouse, Matthew and Captain Christopher Hooker and spouse, Victoria.

Horse breeding and horse racing with Ronny was a thrill always for Al. He acquired his share of win pics. Papa Al was in the barn to oversee the horse grooming and preparation for AQHA horse shows. He was always there sometimes till 2:00 am and be up and raring to get on the road for a Horse Show by 5:00 am the next morning...Papa Al loved the shows and could be found in the arena or of course front and center row.

Although Al had many friends and didn't know a stranger, there were several he held near and dear to his heart, which included Frank Jackson, Cameron Mouw, Nick Adam, Phil Perkey, Morris Hopkins.
