Beatrice Medina

12/21/2022 - 10:12 , by TKing09

On the morning of December 14, 2022, Beatrice Medina of San Angelo Tx. passed away at the age of 85.

Beatrice was born 1937 to Joaquin and Gila Medina in Sterling City Texas. She moved to San Angelo and began as a waitress at Fuentes Café and Pancho’s Restaurant. She married Jose Angel Pena and together opened two restaurants, one in Coleman and then in San Angelo.

Beatrice was a product of her time, remembering the effects of the Great Depression. She was frugal, a penny pincher, she loved socializing with others while shopping at the secondhand stores. As a waitress she loved going to the hairdresser weekly to maintain her hair for her customers. She got to work early and left after serving her customers. She loved reminiscing with her relatives, talking and laughing displaying her great sense of humor. She loved to dance, wear beautiful dresses, and absolutely loved heels; she was not into wearing makeup. A fifth generation Texan, she was proud of her Mexican American Heritage, instilling the values of compassion for others, hard work and just pure grit. She was not a gossip but shot straight from the hip and told it like it was. She was pulled out of the second grade to work the cotton fields with her family and did not have a high school education. She was solely driven to provide for her family, a business-minded person always striving for success, instilling this trait in her children. Always the encourager, her motto was “You can do anything”! She was compassionate, always helping others, strangers, friends, family members, and especially her children in their time of need. Having her share of heart aches, she accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior with Billy Graham on television. Her name “Beatrice” means “bringer of joy” Psalm 118:24, she received her water baptism at the Church of the Nazarene. She attended Victory Outreach/Joshua Tree Fellowship 1:2, cooking in the kitchen with her daughter Glendora, and member of Freedom Church San Antonio. Her biggest accomplishment was making sure her children graduated and received their High School Diplomas.

She is preceded in death by her mother Gila Medina, her father Joaquin Medina, her brother Joaquin Medina Jr. She is survived by her brother Roque Medina, her children Glendora Perales, Albert Diaz, and Robert Medina Rodriguez Diaz. Four Grand Children and Five Great Grand Children

A Celebration of Life service will be held on January 7, 2023, at Sterling city Cemetery at 10:00 Am.

Leslie Alan Cox

12/20/2022 - 10:50 , by TKing09

On Saturday, December 17th, 2022, Leslie Alan Cox, loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away at age 80.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Thursday, December 22, 2022 at Southgate Church of Christ with minister Paul Shero, minister of the church, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home. Military honors will be rendered by the Ft. Hood Army Casualty Assistance Center.

Alan was born in Decatur, Illinois on Aug 16, 1942, to Hubert and Dorothy Strauch Cox. He graduated in 1961 from Stephen Decatur High School where he was active on the high school wrestling team. Alan joined the US Army stationed in Corpus Christi. While in the army, he graduated from the Trans School for Multi-Engineering - Airplane Mechanics and was stationed in Vietnam. When Alan returned he met Melanie Tant, who also worked on the army base as a Telephone Operator. In June of 1964, he began his civilian life and moved to Denver, CO to work for IBM. In 1971, he was promoted to an IBM territory sales manager for the state of Nebraska and moved his family to Norfolk, Nebraska. While in Norfolk, Alan taught adult bible classes at the Glen Park Church of Christ. In 1983, he retired from IBM, moved to San Angelo and started his own computer business, U.S. Tech. While in San Angelo, Alan attended Southgate Church of Christ and taught the adult class for many years. In 2006, Alan was in a tragic car accident and lost his wife, Melanie, and his sister-in-law, Charlotte.

After his recovery, he met and married Barbara Painter. They remained in San Angelo until 2016 when they moved to Springfield, Missouri to be closer to family. They remained in Springfield and were fortunate to have family close by from both sides of the families. Just recently, Alan and Barbara moved to Harding Place Retirement in Searcy, Arkansas. They were very fortunate to have family close by to give a helping hand.

Among many other accomplishments, Alan would have believed that being an avid student and follower of Christ was most important. Alan spent his adult life writing a bible commentary and teaching God's word. He was known to all in the church as a man of God's word and someone who they could trust to discuss salvation issues with in an honest and open way. He was instrumental in bringing many to know God. After his love of God, was his love of family and, of course, his love of delicious food. He has been known to show many pictures of his favorite meals. We believe his love of good food is what brought him to and kept him in San Angelo for so long, because of the many wonderful restaurants and excellent cooks and wonderful friends that are here.

Alan is preceded in death by his wife, Melanie Tant Cox; parents, Hubert and Dorothy Strauch Cox; his brother, Steve Cox; his Daughter-in-Law, Kathy Echoff Cox; his grandson, Tracey Cox and his Stepson, John Painter.

Alan is survived by his wife, Barbara Painter Cox; siblings, Judy Beierle, Joyce Peterson and Randy Cox; children, Marc Cox of Mönchzell, Germany, Christa Ellison and husband Dr. Dennis Ellison, of Normangee, Brent Cox and wife Stephanie of Springfield, Missouri, and Clay Cox and wife Chris Miller of Omaha, Nebraska; grandchildren, Melanie Clark, David Cox, John Marc Cox, Danielle Noe, Savanna Ballard, Tanner Cox, Victoria Fintel, Meagan Evans, Bryce Cox, Taylor Cox, Sarah Coonis, Caleb Cox, and Avery Cox; 23 great-grandchildren; stepchildren, James Painter and wife Eva of New Franklin, Missouri, and Lydia Hall and husband Jay of Searcy, Arkansas; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Painter of Ellijay, Georgia, 11 step grandchildren; and 4 step great-grandchildren.

12/20/2022 - 10:39 , by TKing09

Howard W. Miller of San Angelo, born to Ronald and Mary Lou Miller on October 28, 1960, and sibling to Charles Miller, passed away on Sunday, December 18th, 2022, at the age of 62 years old.

Howard leaves behind his wife of 40 years, Denise Miller, and their 3 adult children, Ryan, Daniel and wife Lacy, and Benjamin Miller and wife Morgan, along with 5 young grandchildren, Faith, Raiden, Wyatt, Jase, and Ayla.

Howard was very well known and respected member of the community. He served the city of San Angelo as a Police Officer for 36 years, and 3 years with the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office as a Correctional Officer. But to many, he was more than just a father, husband, brother, “PooPah: or Police Officer. He was a friend. A friend to everyone he surrounded himself with. He touched many peoples’ lives in only the way Howard Miller could. There was never a room he walked into where people couldn’t help themselves but laugh at his contagious youthful spirit and sometimes goofy demeanor. Howard was also a man of true conviction. If he said he was going to do something, his word was set in stone.

Please join the Miller family to celebrate his life at Glen Meadows Baptist Church on Thursday, December 22, 2022, at 2:00 PM. An open viewing will be held at Harper Funeral Home from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM on December 20th and December 21st, 2022.

Shelley Lynne Williams Webber

12/20/2022 - 10:37 , by TKing09

Shelley Webber passed away around 2 am, Thursday, December 15, 2022. She was lovingly attended to by her friend Carol Rowley in her home.

Shelley was born to Lendall and Shirley Williams, July 25, 1951, in San Diego California. Shelley was eldest sister to Brenda Selsor and Peggy Crotti. Her sisters remember Shelley enjoying ballet classes in elementary school and learning at age 11 to cook and care for the home. These skills grew with Shelley through the years as did emphasis on her love of family and her Savior, Jesus Christ.

Shelley graduated from Pacific Grove High School in California, May 1970. A few weeks later she married the love of her life, Jack Webber, June 20, 1970, in Monterrey CA. Jack was stationed at the Defense Language Institute where he became a Russian linguist for the military. Shelley and Jack lived in many interesting places while serving in the military including California, Texas, Japan, and Germany. Jack and Shelley were married almost 52 years.

Their first son, Michael Shayne Webber, was born in Misawa Japan, August 29th, 1972. Shelley fixed on calling him Shayne because she did not want people to call him Mikey. A few years later, they welcomed their second son, Joel Sean Webber, born in Pacific Grove, California, on January 9, 1975. Shelley would joke, that after these two, there was no need for more children.

Shelley worked for several years in her young married life. The most interesting job was in a toy store, Mrs. Pussycat’s Porch in Carmel California, where they made high-quality toys. Shelley would dress up as a Raggedy Ann doll and be puppet master for a marionette puppet. She held fond memories of that time in her life. While stationed in Germany she was secretary to an officer in the military. Once back in Texas, Shelley volunteered at her sons’ school and as den mother for their Cub Scouts and Webelos organizations. As the boys grew older, she offered them the option of her working or staying home. The boys chose for her to stay home, and so she spent the rest of their days at home serving them with her gracious love.

Her grandchildren were always excited to visit because “No one cooks like Nana!” Shelley had energy to run circles around all of us! She was always up for a game, to run around the park with the children or go shopping. Shelley loved shopping for gifts for her friends and family. She was the ultimate gift giver. Shelley freely gave of her time, talents, and resources. Shelley served as a chaplain and was involved with many ministries across San Angelo. Other than serving her family, serving the Lord was her highest priority.

Shelley leaves behind her son Shayne and wife Jere’ Webber; grandchildren Madisen, Britton, Michael and Belyn; son Joel Webber and granddaughters August and Kaylee Webber; and sisters Brenda Selsor (Russ Selsor), and Peggy Crotti.

The family will receive friends for visitation from 3:00 P.M. – 5:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at Harper Home. The Funeral Service will be 11:00 A.M., Thursday, December 22, 2022, at The Christian Church of San Angelo. The burial will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.

Shelley’s legacy will live on as we all strive to be more humble, generous, compassionate, and Christ like – as she was.

We love you!
