Coy Moses was born June 30, 1935 in Veribest, Texas, the youngest of five children. He married Gwen Laxton Montgomery in November, 1973, and they had a long and happy marriage
Coy was a kind, generous man who loved being in the company of others, whether playing is fiddle for dancers, playing golf at the country club, or eating lunch every day with his friends that he called 'the boys."
As a career GTE employee, Coy and his fiddle caught the eye of the company president who made Coy and his band an entertainment fixture for GTE conferences and functions across the state. Music was the driving force in Coy's life (other than Gwen when she decided it was time for him to mow their lawn); for many years, he and his band were Saturday night regulars at the VFW and appeared monthly at the San Angelo Senior Center. Many have 'danced across Texas' to Coy's western swing. Always generous, Coy has been known to give one of his fiddle to someone wanting to learn to play.
Last, but not least, Coy loved corny jokes. His eyes would sparkle, a silly grin would cover his face as he told the joke; then he would drop his chin to his chest and roll his eyes up to see the reaction his joke received. Ever the entertainer!
Coy Moses was a truly good man who will be remembered lovingly by family and friends.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023 @ 11:00 AM at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
