05/09/2022 - 09:16 , by TKing09

“Getting old takes courage…” and no one was more courageous than Anita Armstrong Adkins who peacefully passed from this world On Friday, May 06, 2022.  This special woman is survived by four children, Chris Adkins, San Antonio, Cathy Zeis (Randy) Pottsboro, Aimee Simms (Dudley), Dallas, John Adkins (Dianna) Hurst, ten grandchildren, Meredith Villarreal (Jaime) Houston, Anabelle Adkins, Houston, Russell Adkins (Brittanie) Colorado, Charlie Zeis, Pottsboro, Lee Simms (Haley) Alabama, Armstrong Simms, Waco, Hampton Simms, North Carolina, Boone Simms, Dallas, Mary Adkins, Hurst, Claire Adkins, Hurst and two great-granddaughters, Vivienne Anita Villarreal, Houston And Charlotte  Grey Adkins, Colorado. She is also survived by her sister Tina Book (Michael) and family. Special cousins Bill Armstrong (Susan), Penny Moore (Freddy) Carrie Sonders (Sy) And Families.

Her remarkable past reads like an adventure novel.  Anita graduated from the first class at Lee Junior High School.  She graduated from Hockaday in 1954 and garnered a degree from the University of Texas in 1959 after being a pledge Theta at Texas Tech. After graduating, she married Russell Adkins in March of 1959.  Anita served the San Angelo community in many ways.  Teaching was one of her dear passions as she taught English at Edison Junior High for 32 years.  During her teaching career she chaired the English Department and taught “a little bit of heaven in 211.”  She judged many essay contests and spelling bees and also had the honored position of sitting on the great books committee and other curriculum committees. She was born to John and Faustine Armstrong on June 25, 1936, in San Angelo, Texas.  You may remember that the Armstrong brothers ran a lumber yard in San Angelo for a number of years.  Anita was the board chairman of the San Angelo Junior League; was part of the Junior Cotillion and served on the Mental Retardation Board Charity.  Somehow Anita found time to tutor dyslexia students through the Williams Foundation, work with numerous charities, judged essay and spelling bees, and sponsored a trip to Abilene for freshmen to see an E.A. Poe presentation.

Anita derived joy in her good friends known as the concho pearls. Her greatest joy, however, was belonging to the Emmanuel Episcopal Church where she served as Directress of the Altar Guild, Vestry, Bible Study Group, Eucharist Minister, Lector and also as a Lay Minister, and Chalice Bearer, Lay Reader and graduate of the church’s EFM program.   Anita also graduated from the University of the South Theological Education Extension Ministry, School of Theology in 2006.

Anita’s very special life was also marked by her love of travel, especially to the British Isles, reading, dancing, playing bridge and beating her daughter, son-in-law and grandson, Charlie, in "spite and malice." Anita wanted to give special thanks to Dr. John Harvey, Jack Leewright, all the doctors for their care over the years, Comfort Keepers, especially Kyra Smith, Ryan Reid, Shannon Home Health, Concho Heart Hospice, especially Nicole and Crystal, Sagecrest Skilled Nursing Center and all of her caregivers over this past year. To special friend Margaret Lankford for the wonderful Saturday visits and Mary Gonzales, Wilson and Jonathan Rockefeller, thanks also to her friends at Market Street and Gabe at CVS.

John K. "Jack" Webber, Jr.

05/09/2022 - 09:12 , by TKing09

I passed peacefully into heaven in the comfort of my home, Monday, May 2, 2022.

I was born to John Kip Webber and Joan Webber, December 6, 1947, in Gardner Kansas. I was the eldest of two brothers, Joel Webber, and Clarke Kennedy who I preceded in death. I had fond memories as a child of fishing and spending time with my maternal grandparents at their ranch in Garnet Kansas.

I graduated from Madison High School in San Diego 1965. I enlisted in the U.S. Army Feb 14, 1966, where I served 22 years including two tours in the Vietnam War as a helicopter crew chief, then in 1970 attended the Defense Language Institute in Monterey California and became a Russian linguist. When I retired from the military I continued to work as a civilian Russian language instructor and technical writer.

I married the love of my life, Shelley, June 20, 1970, in Monterrey CA. We were married almost 52 years. We lived in many interesting places during military service including California, Texas, Japan, and Germany.

I love my sons. I enjoyed having their friends in our home. They each became like additional sons to me. I hope my sons and my additional sons felt the love of the Lord though my loving care.

Serving the Lord was very important to me. I volunteered for the House of Faith for 20yrs and was involved in many other ministries serving the Lord. I would like to be known for my love of God, love of my country, and love of my family.

I leave behind my wife Shelley, son Shayne and wife Jere’ Webber; grandchildren Madisen, Britton, Michael and Belyn; son Joel Webber and granddaughters Kara and Kaylee Webber.

Camry Alyse Weinheimer

05/05/2022 - 15:26 , by TKing09

Camry Alyse Weinheimer of Stonewall passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2022, at the age of 25 surrounded by family. Camry was born on July 25, 1996, in Fredericksburg, Texas to Len A. Weinheimer and Wanda Smarr Franz. Camry was baptized on October 13, 1996, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Stonewall.

The youngest of five, Camry was always the center of attention. She had a happy childhood whether it be on horseback at the ranch, on the ball field, or hanging with her family and friends. Throughout her youth, she excelled in softball, showed steers and goats, was crowned Little Miss Peach, was on the FHS Homecoming Court and was the 2013 Gillespie County Fair Queen. She was active in the St. Francis Xavier youth group, 4H, FFA, FCCLA and was a standout high school softball player. Camry was gifted and talented and so much of what she strived to achieve she accomplished.

Camry attended St. Mary’s Catholic School from Kindergarten through eighth grade and was a 2014 graduate of Fredericksburg High School. In fall 2014 she enrolled in Angelo State University where she was a walk-on Rambelle softball player her freshman year and was active in Kappa Delta Pi Honor Society. She graduated from ASU in May 2018 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. For two years she was a special education teacher in American Literature and assistant director of the drill team at Central High School in San Angelo.

In 2020 she moved back to her beloved Hill Country to fulfill her life-long dream of teaching Kindergarten. She spent two glorious weeks of teaching at Comfort ISD before receiving her diagnosis of Rhabdomyosarcoma. From there she transitioned from a Kindergarten teacher to a warrior. Camry clung to her faith during the good and the bad believing each day that she would overcome the disease. Her family and friends fought the fight with her. So many prayed for a miracle, for Divine Intervention, but as Camry's sickness progressed, we slowly came to the realization and understanding that what we were praying for was something that we already had. Camry was the miracle. Every person she encountered became a better person for having met her. Her faith, her strength, her beautiful heart and positive spirit and outlook on life influenced everyone around her for the better and will for many years to come.

Camry is survived by her father Len A. Weinheimer of Stonewall; mother Wanda and her husband Bertram Franz of Fredericksburg; fiancée Christopher Skokan of Fredericksburg; two brothers and two sisters, Chism and Kyla Weinheimer of New Mexico; Jetta and Chad Eckhardt of Fredericksburg; Lexus and Kameron Haecker of Stonewall; and Cord J. Weinheimer of Madisonville, Texas; nieces: Scout Eckhardt, Quinn Weinheimer and Tatum Haecker; and nephews: Crockett Eckhardt, Huck Eckhardt and Lawson Haecker: grandmother, Emma Smarr (Nanny) of Stonewall; grandfather, Roy E. Weinheimer (Pader) of Stonewall; and her favorite sidekick Hattie Mae. She was preceded in death by her grandfather James Smarr; and grandmother Bernice Weinheimer.

Camry has gifted all of us by leading by example. We feel truly blessed to be the family of such an incredible and beautiful human being. What a true blessing she was to all who knew her. Her beautiful smile, those signature dimples, and all the memories will live on in the countless lives of those she touched.

The family will greet friends on Sunday, May 8th from 3 to 6 pm in the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Stonewall with a Rosary Service at 5 pm.

On Monday, May 9th the family will greet friends from 2:30 to 4 pm in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Fredericksburg with the Mass of Resurrection at 4 pm.

Graveside services and interment will follow in the Stonewall Community Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Christopher Skokan, Chism Weinheimer, Cord Weinheimer, Chad Eckhardt, Kameron Haecker, Baylor Weinheimer and Matthew Skokan.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be given in her memory to the St. Mary’s School Endowment Fund, Hill Country Memorial Hospice, Stonewall V.F.D., or to the charity of your choice.
