Linda Aguirre Cantu

Linda Aguirre Cantu, 48, of San Angelo passed away Monday, April 27, 2015, at 8:30 in the evening. She was born April 12, 1967, in San Angelo, Texas.
Linda served in the United States Army; she was a loving mother and grandmother and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all her family.
She is survived by her husband, Lorenzo Cantu; her son, Adrian Cantu; and her daughter, Mary Cantu. She is also survived by her parents, Willie and Irene Aguirre, Jose and Manuela Arredondo; her siblings include: Willie, Jr. and Sally Aguirre, Carl and Carol Bishop, David and Irene Aguirre, Victor C. and Norma Pescador, Edward and Anna Kelly, Letty Aguirre, and Paul and Lisa Cortez. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces and great-nephews.
Pallbearers will be Linda’s nephews: John W. Bishop, David B. Aguirre, Anthony Aguirre, Jeremy Aguirre, Victor D. Pescador, and Mark Andrades.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the Shannon Medical Center ICU Staff and to family and friends for all their prayers and gifts.
Visitation will held Thursday, April 30, 2015, at Gutierrez Funeral Chapels/North, 1002 N. Oakes St., San Angelo, from 1:00 to 9:00 P.M. A Holy Rosary will be recited at 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 A.M. at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Full Military Honors will be conducted by the United States Army Veterans Honor Guard.

Ramon (Rayy) Dex Ramirez

Ramon (Rayy) Dex Ramirez, 43, left this earth to be with his Lord and Savior on April 20, 2015, in Tempe, Arizona. He was born July 22, 1971, in San Angelo, Texas, to David, Jr. and Lupe Ramirez.

Rayy was raised in San Angelo, Texas, where he graduated from Central High School in 1989. He left home to study at Phoenix Institute of Technology where he received a degree in Electronics specializing in Laser and Robotics Theory.

Being an avid admirer and collector of comics and vintage action figures, he compiled his own massive collection. Drawn to the beauty of the Arizona desert, he made is home in Mesa and worked at Medtronic in Tempe.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lupe Flores Ramirez, his maternal grandparents, Natividad Lopez Flores and Concepcion Aguirre Flores, as well as his paternal grandparents, David Sr. and Guadalupe Ramirez.

He is survived by his father, David, Jr. and his step-mother Elvira Ramirez of San Angelo, TX, his sisters Sandra Martinez and Susan (George) Garcia of San Angelo, TX, and his brothers Steve (Cathy) Ramirez of Stanton, TX, and David (Kathleen) Ramirez III of San Antonio, TX. Rayy is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins on both familial sides.

He is also survived by many friends who assisted in caring for him during his battle with cancer, Gabriel & Erica Garcia (and family), Rebecca Winger (and family), David Merwin and many other friends from Arizona. Rayy loved all he met and made friends stretching from Texas to Arizona and beyond.

Visitations will be held Saturday and Sunday, April 25 and 26, from 1:00 to 9:00 P.M. at Gutierrez Funeral Chapels/North, 1002 N. Oakes St., San Angelo, TX. A Prayer Service will take place at 7:00 P.M. Sunday, April 26, 2015, at the funeral home. Pastor Juan Flores, Rayy's maternal uncle will officiate all services. A Celebration of Life Service is scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Monday, April 27, 2015, at Gutierrez Funeral Chapels; graveside services and interment will follow at Belvedere Memorial Park in San Angelo.

Pallbearers will be Steve Ramirez, David Ramirez III, Roberto De La Garza, Norberto De La Garza, George Garcia, David Merwin and honorary pallbearer and Rayy's best friend, Gabriel Garcia.

Herbert Davis

Herbert Wesley Davis, born January 19, 1937, passed away Thursday, April 23, 2015.
He was preceded in death by his wife Nan, his parents Robert Lee and Edna Leola Davis, his brother Robert Davis, his sister Jewel Cordell, his son Wesley Davis and his baby dog Scooter.
He is survived by his sister, Jean Cooper of Kerrville; his brother, Wayne Davis and his wife Judy.
He spent a tour of duty in the Army during the Berlin crisis. He worked in the oilfields throughout Texas.
Visitation will be held all day Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at Pioneer Memorial Park. Services are under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home/Sherwood Way.
We want to thank all the nurses and doctors in ICU for taking care of our brother.

Audrey Allen

Audrey Rose Allen, 65, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, April 24, 2015. A celebration of her life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, May 17, 2015 at the family home located at 2220 Chapman St., San Angelo, Texas. Arrangements are by Shaffer Funeral Home/Sherwood Way.
Audrey was born on April 4, 1950 in San Angelo, TX to Gus and Christine (Gibson) Brazeal. She grew up in San Angelo where she attended Lakeview High School and lived in San Angelo all of her life.
She was happiest working side by side with husband driving cattle trucks all over North America. She was a very hard worker and always ready for the next haul. After her and her husband retired from the cattle hauling business they again worked together in their bail bond business.
Audrey was a Christian and loved the Lord. She was a member at Life Point Baptist Church. She raised her children in a Christian home and was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. Audrey was always very devoted to her family and put their needs above her own. Her greatest joy in life was her grandchildren.
In her spare time Audrey loved to go on cruises, travel and watch NASCAR! She will be missed by all those whose lives she touched.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two children, Joyce Marie Bruton and Ricky Lynn Bruton and one sister, Joyse Marie Brazeal.
Audrey is survived by her husband of thirty-seven years, Buster Allen of San Angelo; sons, Lonnie Merriman and Jason Jackson both of San Angelo and James Jackson and wife Tina of Miles; daughters, Sherry Payne of San Angelo and Delores Banta of Bay City, TX; brothers, Ray Brazeal and wife Jeanne, Ronnie McEnery, Donnie Brazeal and wife Evelyn all of San Angelo, Gene Brazeal and wife Whoa of Azle; sisters, Jo Ann Williams and husband Carroll and Dorothy Brazeal both of San Angelo; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and good friends.
The family wishes to extend deep gratitude to Hospice of San Angelo for their loving care shown to Audrey during her final days.

Chester Sylvester

Pastor Chester Sylvester, age 97 and a resident of San Angelo for more than thirty years, graduated to his heavenly home on April 23, 2015 to be with the Lord he served since becoming a Christian at age 17. He lived at the Sagecrest Unit of Baptist Retirement Home.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, April 25, 1:00pm at Lakeview Baptist Church, San Angelo with burial at Lawnhaven Cemetery, San Angelo.

He is survived by his wife, Melba Sylvester of San Angelo. He is also survived by his son, Dr. David Sylvester and his wife Daneta, and their son, Andrew of Hurst, TX.

Pastor Sylvester was preceded in death by his siblings: Manual Sylvester, Homer Sylvester, Lenora Brown, Corein Stewart, Edelle Wade, and Ozell Phillips and by countless number of nieces and nephews. He was born December 10, 1917 at his family home place west of Austin, TX on the Colorado River. The waters of Lake Travis covered their home place after the government built the Mansfield Dam which caused their family to move. They settled six miles south of Lampasas, TX where he finished high school.

After sensing the call to preach the gospel, he attended Howard Payne College and earned a bachelor’s degree in 1945. While there, he met Melba Wolff of San Angelo and they married January 23, 1945, more than seventy years ago.

Pastor Sylvester served as pastor of several Southern Baptist churches in Texas beginning in 1939 as a college student. He also attended Southwestern Seminary in Fort Worth, TX. His last pastorate was at Carlsbad Baptist Church ending in 1984 after which he continued his ministry of pastoral care at the Lakeview Baptist Church, San Angelo, TX.

Pastor Sylvester was a recognized and respected figure in the San Angelo area due to his personal visits to patients and residents at area hospitals and nursing facilities for many years.

The family asks that memorials may be given to Lakeview Baptist Church, San Angelo, TX.

Ronda K. Chumley, 63, died on Friday, April 24, 2015 in Odessa, Texas. She was born on July 17, 1951 in Stillwater, Oklahoma to Bob and Carmilita Hilthon. She married Sam H. Chumley III on April 2, 1977. Graveside service is at 2 p.m. on Wednesday in Glen Rest Cemetery in Big Lake, Texas. Rev. J.B. Bitner and Rev. Gerald Bastin of First Baptist Church of Big Lake will officiate. Arrangements are by Johnson's Funeral Home.Ronda is survived by her husband of 38 years, Sam; her three children Denise Fortner, Sam H. (Chip) Chumley IV, and Richelle Springer; her brother Carl Hilthon; and numerous aunts and uncles.

Peggy J. Patterson

Peggy Jim Patterson, age 77, anxious to be with her Lord, passed in her sleep Tuesday April 23rd 2015 in San Angelo Texas. A graveside service will be held for Peggy at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens, 4989 FM Highway 1223, San Angelo TX.
Peggy was born to Oran and Betty Owens February 29th 1938 in Lubbock, Texas. She enjoyed her life and partnership with her husband, Pat Patterson. Peggy filled the role of mother, housewife and accountant in successful family and business ventures. In retirement, she enjoyed traveling with her husband and their 4 legged companion Levi in their RV. In addition, one of her greatest joys was playing with her new grandson Andrew and looking forward to meeting her second grandchild, Noah.
Although, she referred to herself as just the "dumb" book keeper, she was all a wife and mother could be and more for over 54 years. With heavy hearts she is missed by her husband and three boys of whom she constantly inspired.
Peggy is survived by her husband Pat, eldest son Shannon and his wife LaRayne, her middle son Keith and youngest son Randy, as well as two grandchildren. Survivors also include relatives Les and Alisha Patterson, Jerry and Carol Patterson, and Donna Norton.
