Margaret Strain Mallard

07/01/2015 - 15:41 , by johnb

Live life and finishing well...She did it!!!

Margaret Strain Mallard was born Feb. 15, 1925, in Dallas, Texas, to Clara Lodal and Charles Hunter Strain.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Hunter; and husband John Edward Mallard. She had one daughter, Sidney, who lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

She died early Monday morning in her sleep at her home with her daughter by her side.

Always in control with forthright purpose and goals, she knew the ultimate control was God's purpose and acceptance.

She was devoted to her family, friends, church and community. She contributed with hard work - monetarily, physically and mentally. She taught wherever she went... in the classroom (for 25+ years), to board meetings with Historic San Angelo/or Adult Literacy Council or in her church at First Presbyterian or among friends. She is STILL teaching us! She was a master of the art of giving back. Margaret knew her business? she says "it is economically important to have an educated work force." She has been the number one supporter of Adult Literacy in our community.

Her friend of 60 years states that "she was fierce in loyalty, fierce in friendships, and in her Christian commitment!"

A celebration of Margaret Mallard's life will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 2, at First Presbyterian Church with a reception following the service.

Margaret would rather donations be made to the Adult Literacy Council or Historic San Angelo or a charity of your choice instead of purchasing flowers for the ceremony.
