Angela Kaye Hollon

06/13/2023 - 14:35 , by TKing09

Angela Kaye Thomas Hollon of Mereta, Texas, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, June 4, 2023.

Angela was born to Dr. Bobbie and Lucy Thomas on September 22, 1976, in Temple, Texas. After graduating from San Angelo Central High School, she went on to study at Southwest Texas State University for her undergraduate degree and Pepperdine University for her Masters in Clinical Psychology. In recent years, she enjoyed employment as a teacher.

In 2010, Angela married Kyle Hollon. Angela always loved good food but had limited ability in the kitchen; thankfully, Kyle is not only a kind man who was devoted to her and the children, he is an excellent cook. Angela and Kyle had five children: Kyler, Kyden, Kyndall, and her fortieth birthday present, the twins, Kolt and Kash. Her children were the light of her life, and she loved them dearly.

Angela was a loving and devoted friend. She maintained many friendships from childhood and college and will be greatly missed by those who loved her so deeply. She was quick-witted and funny but also very kind with a soft and thoughtful heart. She was goofy, and her friends will remember her forever in their silly thoughts. She was encouraging and a great cheerleader for her children and her friends. Angela will be remembered as a kind and loving soul by all those who knew and loved her.

Angela and her late brother, Les, were only eleven months apart and shared a lifelong bond. When they were little they had their own language and unique way of communicating. Angela was always his great teacher and friend. His death hit her especially hard. The Funeral Mass of the Catholic faith tells us that love does not end at death, it just changes. Knowing that Angela is reunited in Heaven with Les and her beloved grandparents brings peace to a devastating and tragic loss. Rest in Peace, sweet Angela. You were greatly loved, and you will be deeply missed.

Angela is survived by her husband Kyle Hollon and their children Kyler, Kyden, Kyndall, Kolt, and Kash; her parents Lucy (Powell) and Dr. Bob Thomas of Mereta; and her sister Heather (Thomas) Longo and her husband Dan and their children Iris and Daphne Longo of Maryville, Tennessee; her niece Camryn Marie Thomas of Plano; and cousin Bill Thomas and his wife Jennifer and their son Luke of Zurich, Switzerland; Uncle Kyle Allen and Aunt Kelly Powell of Houston. She is also survived by her mother and father-in-law, Mary and Jimmy Hollon, also of Mereta. Mary, better known as Mimi, was the best MIL ever, and Jimmy, better known as PawPaw, was a lifesaver. Angela called him the “Baby Whisperer” and the “Night Nanny”. Both names came from the great affection she had for him.

Angela was preceded in death by her brother Leslie Allen Thomas and her grandparents Wagner Leslie and Maurine Francis (Womack) Thomas, and Robert Lee and Mary Lou (Weaver) Powell, her great-grandparents Melvin Vaughn and Ruby Allen (Holloway) Weaver, her Aunt Debbera Kay Powell Thompson, and her Uncle Billie Carol Thomas.

The Rosary will be held Monday, June 12, 2023, at 6:00 pm at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Wall, Texas. The family will retire to the Fellowship Hall for visitation after the Rosary. The Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Joe Choutapalli Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at 10:00 am at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Wall, Texas, followed by a luncheon and visitation of friends.

Because Angela loved her children more than anything, friends have established a Benefit Account for Hollon Children at the First Financial Bank.

Clarice Cox

06/05/2023 - 16:43 , by TKing09

Clarice Cox, 82, was ushered into the presence of her Lord and Savior early Sunday morning, June 4, 2023.

She was born April 3, 1941, the daughter of Clarence Cox and Wilma Howard Cox Hamilton. While her grandparents, John and Mamie Cox raised her from infancy, she still spent lots of time with her mother, stepfather Wesley, and older sister Gaynell. She was also close to her uncle and aunt, Guinn and Margie Cox, who lived on the same property as her grandparents.

Clarice lived in San Angelo all of her life. She loved San Angelo-its history, its terrain, its people, and even its Mesquite trees. There wasn't a creek or a hill in the county in which she didn't know its name, a rise on a river she didn't want to watch after a rain, a local author's book she hadn't read, nor a story heard about the area she hadn't studied and researched. She was a born storyteller, a dreamer, and a traveler-barely having come down off one adventure while already longing for the next. She lived by her lists and calendars, loving when she had something to look forward to, but not satisfied unless everyone she loved was excited about it with her. She kept several books going at one time from an endless variety of genre. She was a lifelong learner with a penchant for hidden caves, secret gardens, and whatever might be discovered around that next bend-but she insisted her friends and family enjoy them with her.

The many friends Clarice accumulated throughout her life, many remaining from early childhood until she passed, are the testimony to who she truly was-a lover of people. She would gather them, then somehow forge families among step-kins, Bible studies, world travelers, music enthusiasts, "Glory Girls", wayward souls, the down and out, and the upper classy. She could not wait to get together for lunches with her Central High School Class of '59ers. She organized numerous reunions with family and friends and thought nothing was better than a good sing-a-long with some of her talented music friends. At the age of six, she formed a decades long relationship with a pen pal her age in East Germany whom she finally traveled to meet in her 60's; a story she loved to recount to others, as it allowed her to prove one of the many ways God had brought her full circle again and again in a myriad of life circumstances to show her His sovereignty.

Her stories and the Story of Clarice Cox are far too deep, too complex, and too intricate to share in one short tribute, and it's the reason she never finished writing that book everyone told her she needed to write. She would tell you that God's amazing grace and goodness to her would be its theme, and its conclusion would be a life well-lived, who loved and was loved by too many people to count.

She leaves behind a legacy of faith in Jesus to her children, Jim Bob Harris and his wife Laura; and Christy Dorr and her husband Matt of Mineral Wells; a sister, Gaynell Wilhelm and her family; her grandchildren, Zeke, Colt and Luke Dorr and their wives, Seth and Sawyer Harris, Sloan Voss and her husband, and Justice Eisenbach; great grand-children, Katch, Clark, Kelbi, Nicholas, Kopper, Charlie, June and Kallahan Dorr, Adaline Voss and Ava Sanchez; beloved cousins, Denise Fox, Kathy Mosely and her family, and all the Eisenbach clan whom she loved as her own.

She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents, her precious son, Dennis Eisenbach, and two stepsons, Lane and Roy J. Eisenbach.

Clarice has managed to gather her family and friends one more time to laugh and cry together, this time in her memory. Public viewing will be from 10:00 AM until 8:00 PM with a family visitation from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Wednesday, June 8, 2023, at Robert Massie Funeral Home. Memorial service will be 10:30 AM Thursday, June 8, 2023, at Immanuel Baptist Church with Pastor Russ Frasier, pastor of Forgiven Ministries, "Biker Church", officiating. Followed by a luncheon in the fellowship hall. Arrangements are under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home

Her family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Sagecrest Care Center for their loving attention to Clarice in her short time there; Concho Hearts Hospice; and her beloved niece Angie Bigham for loving her so well during her last months.

Ann Oliver Middleton

06/02/2023 - 09:53 , by TKing09

Ann Oliver Middleton, of San Angelo, one of five children born to Helen Sherrill and Wallace B. Oliver, came into this life on May 1, 1925, in Winters, Texas, and passed away at home on May 23, 2023. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, June 16, at the First Presbyterian Church in San Angelo with Rev. Joel Moore officiating. Following the Memorial Service there will be a “Celebration of Life” reception at the San Angelo Country Club River Room from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Ann graduated from Winters High School in 1942 and attended Trinity University in San Antonio. In 1946, she married William O. “Midd” Middleton of Ballinger, Texas. After raising their four children and spending forty-eight years together, he preceded her in passing in 1994.

Ann was a loving wife and mother and a faithful servant of our Lord. She was an integral member of the First Presbyterian Church in Ballinger for over forty years. She served as a Sunday School teacher, was an ordained Deacon and Elder for multiple years, and became a Trustee in 1987. As a volunteer, she served on the Ballinger ISD School Board, delivered Meals on Wheels, and was active in the business community. Ann was an astute businesswoman, creating a successful forty-year retail career as the owner of Middleton’s Dress Shop. Women from all around West Texas enjoyed shopping at Middleton’s. Ann loved going to the Dallas Market to pick out beautiful clothes for her faithful patrons and always felt blessed by the friendships she made throughout the years. In her spare time, Ann enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling with Midd in their motorhome and abroad, and playing golf, cards, or games with her friends.

Ann moved to San Angelo in 1996 and rekindled many old friendships and made new ones. She continued delivering meals to the elderly and volunteered in the Shannon Hospital gift shop. Ann became dear friends with the ladies in her “Friday Lunch Bunch” and enjoyed the camaraderie of her bridge groups. Ann was an excellent bridge player into her 90’s and her competitive spirit was fun to witness as she always played to win. In 2020, Ann moved into a private residence and was blessed beyond measure by her loving caregivers Ida Luna, Maria Saucedo, and Lucy Barley. They provided impeccable care as well as hours of fun and laughter, which added much happiness and joy these past few years. Ann was truly adored by all who knew her. Her sparkling blue eyes would light up when loved ones came to visit, and her laugh was contagious. Ann’s kind heart and generous spirit throughout her long, beautiful life was an example to all as she loved unconditionally and faithfully exemplified in the Lord’s Fruits of the Spirit.

Ann is survived by her four children who were the loves of her life: Susan and Lawrence “Bub” Williams of San Angelo; Bill Middleton of Dallas; Shirley and Roger Albert of San Angelo; and Stacy and Jeff Kovach of Coppell. She is also survived by her six grandchildren and their spouses, as well as ten great grandchildren: Bryant and Alison Williams of Dripping Springs and children Carter, Jack, and Grace; Lal and Becca Williams of Lubbock and children Brentley, Indie, and Ellis Ann; Ashley and Odus “Boogie” Wittenburg of Dripping Springs and children Will, Brooke, and Ty; Ryan and Liz Albert and daughter Peyton; and Riley Kovach and Olivia Kovach of Lubbock. Ann cherished her family, loved the Lord, and left a legacy in her footsteps. Although our family will miss her dearly, we find comfort in knowing “Sweet Mom” is in the presence of Jesus surrounded by her family and friends in Heaven.

The family extends its sincere appreciation to Dr. L. Yeatts, MD; Hospice of San Angelo/WTRC; and Darla Teague, RN, for their exceptional care. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be given in her honor to the First Presbyterian Church of Ballinger or San Angelo, Meals on Wheels, Hospice of San Angelo/WTRC, or to the charity of one’s choice.
