James Larry Rumsey, of San Angelo, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at the age of 77. Born on April 29, 1947, in Miles, Texas.
Larry attended Miles High School before embarking on a career that began with the POOL company. However, his entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish his own lawn care services business, which thrived and evolved into the successful enterprise known today as Rumsey Tree Services. Over 40 years, Larry built his family-owned business into a well-respected name in San Angelo and beyond.
A proud veteran, Larry served in the US Army during the Vietnam campaign under the 11th Armored Cavalry in the "Black Horse Regiment." His service was a reflection of his commitment to his country and community.
Larry was married to Mona Rumsey for over 50 years, sharing a life filled with joy, laughter, and countless memories. They enjoyed truck rides together for business estimates, cherished time spent with friends and loved ones, and pursued their passion for classic cars and attending car shows. In Larry's younger days he enjoyed running his drag car.
Larry is survived by his son, James Rumsey, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and three brothers. His legacy through Rumsey Tree Services will continue to flourish, a testament to his hard work, dedication, and entrepreneurial spirit.
James Larry Rumsey will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for his family and community leave an indelible mark on those whose lives he touched.
A memorial service to celebrate Larry's life will be held at a later date.
