Our beloved Father passed away at the age of 88 on February 22, 2023 at 5:49pm in his home in San Angelo, Texas, after a short illness. Robert was born in the Baptist Hospital in Alexandria, Louisiana on June 4, 1934 to Maggie Jeanette Reynolds and Dewey Abel LaCombe.

He had two siblings: Ruby Lee LaCombe Sanchez, and Bonnie Farrell LaCombe. He had a zest for life, love, Harley Davidson motorcycles, fishing, guns, and taking care of his grandson. He graduated from Tioga High School in Louisiana, then went on to work for oil exploration. In his early thirties he mastered the skill of being a butcher and became the market manager in Harry’s Food Store in San Angelo, Texas. He then went into sales for Wilson and Affiliated Foods. In the late 1970’s he opened his own business San Angelo Sand Blasting and Painting. He moved to Llano, Texas in 1990’s and became the market manager at Country Boy’s Food Store until 1996, then he moved back to San Angelo, Texas at age 62 to take care of his grandson, who was his pride and joy, where he obtained the name “PawDaddy” which he absolutely loved. He worked until he retired at the age of 88. He always said, “I’m going to work until I die.”

Robert married Wilma Fay Nixon on September 15, 1955, and had two daughters. They were married 39 years. She preceded him in death in 2006.

He is survived by his children Rhonda Hurley, Ken Hurley, Sheila Fox and Douglas Fox; grandchildren, Jennifer Hurley and Michael Fox; nephew, Del Sanchez and Farrell LaCombe; nieces, Braunice Rachal, Debbie LaCombe, Gayle Lemons, Tracy Ambrose, Troyanne Horton; sister-in-law, Linda Walters; brother-in-law, Charles Nixon. Preceding him in death are his parents Dewey Abel LaCombe in 1949, Maggie Jeanette Reynolds in 2006; siblings, Ruby Lee LaCombe Sanchez in 1998, Bonnie Farrell LaCombe in 1970.

We want to thank Regency House, Shannon Medical Center – 4 South staff, and HOSA for all helping take such good care of our Father. Fly high Daddy, we will never forget you. We will see you on the other side.

Calvin Burney, 80, passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2023 at his home.

Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM Friday, March 3, 2023 at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Mr. Burney was born on April 25, 1942 in Snyder to Charles and Beulah Burney. Calvin left school after the third grade to work in the cotton fields to help provide for his family. In 1962, he and his brother, Alvin started Burney Tree service and grew it into a successful business in the Concho Valley and beyond. They would work from sunup to sunset almost every day until his illness put him in the hospital. While he was in the hospital, Ricky Roberts and Calvin Joe Burney, Jr. made sure the business continued. Calvin never judged anyone and always helped where he could. He loved tinkering with old cars and could always figure out a way to fix any problem before him, except for his smart phone. He was the best dad.

He is preceded in death by a son, Jamie Burney; and siblings, Alvin Burney, John Burney, Myrtle McClelland, Martha McGary, Charlene Burney, and Garland Burney.

Calvin is survived by 8 children, Marla Burney-Clark of Bandera, Russell Burney and wife Teresa of Dove Creek, Lisa Hicks and husband Steve of Azle, Donna Burney, Pamela Daniels, Calvin Joe Burney, Sr., Amanda Burney, and Ashley Burney all of San Angelo; three siblings, Jackie Burney, Jerry Burney, and Dora Neil Watkins, all of San Angelo; 24 grandchildren, including Ashtyn, Rhyder, and Byntlee; 42 great grandchildren; and 12 great-great grandchildren.

Creta Mae Lott Voyles went to Heaven on Saturday, February 25, 2023, after living a long, blessed life.

She was born in Decatur, Alabama on April 12, 1933 to John Emery and Ara Vivian Owens Lott. Creta married Willie Dean Voyles on October 22, 1950 in Childress. He preceded her in death on April 26, 2007. Creta has been a resident of San Angelo since 1958. She worked for BW Merchandise, and M System. Creta owned and operated The River Bank in Paint Rock, she also did the bookkeeping for Willie at Voyles Construction Company. Willie and Creta were charter members of Johnson Street Church of Christ where she served as a Sunday School Teacher. Creta ministered in the Jail Ministry in Tom Green County. She loved painting, knitting, and crocheting. Creta was a very artistic lady.

Survivors include her two daughters, Ara Mae "Punkin" Voyles Harris and husband Lee, and Vivian "Vicki" Willean Voyles Sedden and husband Mark; four grandchildren that called her "Mam-Maw", Creta Sheree Burns Hardin and husband BC, William Dean Burns and wife Becca, Richard "Ricky" Dean Owen, and Roy Jackson Owen and wife Lisa; seven great grandchildren that called her "GG"; and two sisters, Ellen Lott Graham and husband Jimmy, and June Lott Tigert Bassett husband Jack "Art"; and numerous nieces, and nephews that called her "Aunt Creta"; and many others call her "Sister" or "Friend." Creta was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Johnnie Lee Lott.


Everyone who knew Creta knew how much she loved the Lord and loved to share His Word with others. One of many verses that she took to heart was Ecclesiastes 12:13, "After all of this, there is only one thing to say: Have reverence for God, and obey His commands, because this is all that man was created for." (Today's English Version)

A celebration of Creta's life graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 4, 2023, at the Childress Cemetery in Childress, Texas with Mr. David Ensminger, a family friend, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home in San Angelo.

Paula Lopez, 71, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 25,2023, at her home surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Thursday, March 2, 2023, at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel with Pastor Harold Watkins, pastor of Freedom Fellowship, officiating.

Mrs. Lopez was born January 25, 1952 in San Angelo. Paula married Richard Lopez in 1977 and they resided together in San Angelo. Through their 45 years together they raised seven children. She is greeted in heaven by her parents, Pablo and Ernestina Hurtado; her siblings, Beto Hurtado, Gilbert Hurtado, Nolberto Hurtado, Joe Hurtado, twins Harry Hurtado, Jerry Hurtado, Pablo Hurtado, and Linda Lozano.

Paula served the Lord faithfully throughout her life. She started her life's work from the comfort of her home with her immediate family then later dedicated her life to becoming the founder of Women of Power ministries in San Angelo. She displayed her passion for this work on a daily basis with whomever she came across. She always opened her home and the ministry to those in need.

Paula had the amazing ability to see someone's true worth and see past any sins or troubles they may experience and would often guide them while showing grace.

Survivors include husband, Richard; her seven children, David Contreras, Angela L. Soto and husband Tino, Tina Vargas and husband Mike, Richard Lopez, Stephen Lopez, Rosemarie Lopez, and Sonia Guerrero; their special grandkids, Gabriel, James, and Chris Contreras, Dominick Briseno and wife Samantha, Desiree Salazar and husband Tony, Alex Fuentes, Elias, Yelena, Nikolai Sanchez, Mario and Benji Vargas; as well as 10 great grandchildren; and a special nephew, Severo Hogeda III; Paula is also survived by her two sisters, Mary Lopez and husband Luis, Irma Cantù; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Rikke Jean (Letcher) Black of San Angelo, TX succumbed to her long battle with cancer on Sunday, February 26th, 2023. Rikke was born on January 31st, 1966 in Wichita Falls, Texas. Rikke moved to San Angelo at a young age, and graduated from Lake View High School in 1984. Rikke attended Jeans College of Beauty and received her Cosmetology license when she turned 16 years of age. At the age of 19 Rikke married Rodney, her husband of 37 years. In 1993 Rikke earned her Bachelor of Science Degree from Angelo State University. Shortly after she began her career with the San Angelo Independent School District. In 2005 she earned her Masters of Education degree from Sul Ross State University. Rikke worked in many areas of the district as a teacher, P.E. Coach, Assistant Principal, Principal, and Director of Elementary Curriculum and Instruction. Rikke’s love for the students she served was immeasurable. Rikke touched the lives of countless students and their families over her 30 year career. Rikke not only dedicated her life to her career, she lived her life for her family. Rikke spent her extra time coaching her children and grandchildren in youth sports, showering them with gifts from Target and spoiling her dog Lucy. Rikke also was a member of Glen Meadows Baptist Church.

Rikke is survived by her husband Rodney Black; her three children and their spouses, Rikke’ Flores and husband Isaac, Kylie Chadwick and husband Tyler, Hayden Black and fiance Sarah Grafa; grandchildren Kezlyn, Preslee, Graye, Layne and Maren; mother Wanda Jean Muckle and husband David Muckle; siblings and their spouses, Jarvis Letcher and wife Tamara, brother Jerry Letcher and sister Jodi Letcher; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Rikke was preceded in death by her grandparents, father, and nephew Sawyer.

Larry Bruce Jolley 66 of San Angelo passed away Thursday, February 23, 2023.

Larry B Jolley was born February 20, 1957 in Littlefield, to James and Betty Jolley. He attended school in Amarillo, Scottsdale, Arizona, and Tulia where he graduated from Tulia High School in 1975.

Larry was a cabinet builder and home builder before moving to San Angelo to become a Texas licensed realtor. He later became the owner and broker of Larry Jolley Real Estate. Larry was also president of the International Waterlily Collection and a member of the SABS (San Angelo Blues Society). He enjoyed playing guitar, singing, and being with friends.

Larry was preceded in death by his father, James P Jolley; brother, Randall D Jolley; grandparents, Bruce and Thelma Reagan; grandparents, William and Thelma Jolley, and stepmother, Carol Jolley.

He is survived by his mother, Betty Jolley; his sister, Brenda James; two sons, Nick Jolley and wife, Misty and Colby Jolley; a daughter, De'Aun Hipsher and husband Kyle; six grandchildren and a host of many other family and friends.

Floyd Conley Petitt, age 64 of San Angelo passed away on February 25, 2023. Floyd was born in Rankin, Texas on February 18, 1959 to Floyd and Margaret Petitt. His family then moved to Fort Stockton where he attended school until graduating in 1977. He then attended Howard Payne in Brownwood with a major in business and a minor in English graduating in 1982.

Floyd attended Northside Baptist Church while growing up in Fort Stockton, where he accepted Christ as his Savior and met Jan. Floyd was always active in the churches he attended, being a deacon, Sunday School Teacher of all ages, Pianist and Organist.

Floyd began his career by opening a jewelry shop in Brownwood where he designed and created exquisite jewelry. This is why he was able to create an original wedding band with special meaning to Jan and himself.

He became interested in insurance as a Long Term Care Specialist in Brownwood, Texas working at Insurance Specialist in 1982. He moved to San Angelo in 1997 to open his own business Floyd C. Petitt Insurance. As his business grew he had to get more space and moved to the current location. He also expanded his business to Robert Lee and Menard. Floyd became a trustee of the Gaylon Childers Family Trust, this is a position he truly enjoyed.

Floyd loved helping his clients whether it was insurance related or not. He gave 100 % to anything he did. He made an impact on everyone whom he came in contact with. He was well respected by clients and friends who counted on him. Floyd was a generous, giving and faithful husband, father, grandfather and friend. He is going to be greatly missed by all.

Though Floyd always worked very hard he enjoyed family time with his children and grandchildren. Papa as he was known to the grandkids and Nana are known for throwing holiday parties that the grandchildren love and look forward to each year.

He loved trains of all sizes. If there was a train, he was riding it. His favorite hobby was model trains. In his home there was one room dedicated to his hobby.

Floyd was preceded in death by his parents and survived by his wife Jan of San Angelo, daughters, Melissa Petitt Hogg and husband Cooper, Becca Gilbert and husband Braxton all of San Angelo, sons, Bryan Petitt and wife Sidney of Monterey CA, Cody Rodriguez of San Diego, CA. 6 grandchildren, Lily Kate and Gus Hogg, Preston Petitt, Micaiah, Asher and Adoniah Gilbert.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at Harper Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 2, 2023 at First Baptist Church in San Angelo at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.

Clive Jack Harris was born on July 25, 1937, to Veda Marie (Fell) and Claude Estell Harris in Texon Texas. He attended Reagan County High School, Sul Ross University and graduated with a Teaching Certificate. He had two children with his first wife, Robert (Shari) Harris and Jackie Harris, raising them as a Single Parent, he worked 3 or more jobs to ensure that they did not want for anything.

In 1984, Jack married the love of his life, Joleta W Long and between them, they now have 6 children. Randall Long, Candace (Gene) Titlow, Jerry Long (Sherri Jones) and Lyndon Long, Robert (Shari) Harris, and Jackie Harris (M. Krosch.)

Jack grew up in Texon, moved around for a few years before coming home. He lived in Big Lake for over 40 years before moving to San Angelo.

Jack’s family was the most important thing in his life. He had a passion for flying, learning to fly and buying his first airplane in 1979. Later on in life, He loved 4-wheeling also, taking many trips with his wife to Colorado, New Mexico, Big Bend and East Texas riding.

Jack leaves behind his best friend and wife, his beloved dog Miss Boxer, his Children, Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, His Sister, Shirley Halydier, Brother David (Debbie) Harris, Brother Larry (Geri) Harris and nieces and nephews.

Jack has gone to be with our lord on February 23, 2023. Funeral Services will be 2:00 P.M., Sunday at Harvest Baptist Church located at 2021 Austin St. San Angelo Texas, with a visitation and family gathering starting at 1:00 P.M. at the church. The burial will be private.

Kaye Annette Arel, 74, of San Angelo passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, February 21, 2023.

Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Monday, February 27, 2023 at Fairmount Cemetery with Pastor Gary Booth, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Mrs. Arel was born on June 4, 1948 in San Angelo and raised by her parents, Verra and J. D. Saunders. Kaye attended Trinity Lutheran, Lee Junior High School, and graduated from San Angelo Central High School in 1965. She studied Theater Arts at Angelo State University. Kaye loved theater and was very involved with the program at the University as well as productions at Angelo Civic Theater. Kaye met her first husband and the father of their two children, James McDougall in College.

Kaye started her career as an english teacher at San Angelo Lakeview High School and taught at John Glenn Middle School while she was raising her children. She went back to Angelo State University and received her Masters while continuing to work in the theater industry. In 1995, she met her loving husband Paul Arel, they have since shared their lives and families together. Kaye retired from teaching in 2016 from Grape Creek High School.

She had a love for books, music, and had many collectibles. Kaye enjoyed doing things with her family and especially loved her Saturday lunches with her sister and nephew.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Kaye is survived by her husband, Paul; two sons, David Mc Dougall and wife Dana and Dylan Mc Dougall and wife Tangie all of Austin; two grandsons, Guthrie McDougall and Strummer McDougal; her sister, Dee Ensor and husband Tom of San Angelo; her nephew, John Saunders of San Angelo, who she shared a special bond; and her baby Shih tzu, Poppy.
