It is with great sadness we announce the death of Philip David Rawlings, 34, of Johnson City, TX on December 4, 2023.

Philip (Phil) was born on February 7, 1989, in San Angelo, TX to David and Kary Rawlings. He attended Bronte High School where he graduated Valedictorian of his class. Philip was actively involved in sports, UIL, FFA, and other school clubs/activities. As a child and teen he enjoyed being outdoors hunting, fishing, and ranching. Philip attended Austin College in Sherman, TX and graduated with a degree in finance. He was well known and loved by many there. He went on to work for Mueller Inc. where he started as a salesman, later moving into a management position. Philip was invested and driven in his work. Mueller Inc. was his second family.

Philip was predeceased by his father David Rawlings who died December 6, 2002. He was survived by Cara Bonomo Rawlings, Mike and Kary Fry; Joel and Rebecca Webb and their children Addalyn and Luke; Samuel and Kimber Rawlings and their son McCoy; Aaron and Lauren Fry and their children Peyton, Avery, and Caleb; Brandon and Sarah Fry and their children Brock and Lottie. And many other extended family members, friends, and co-workers.

Philip was an intelligent, hardworking, fun-loving, and kind person that was loved by many. He loved well and always gave people a second chance. He loved to talk and would take time for conversation. We know his life and his story made a mark and will continue to live on in the people that knew him. He will be missed dearly.

His memorial service will be held at First Christian Church-Grace Presbyterian Chapel on Saturday, December 9th at 4:00 PM in San Angelo, TX. Reverand TJ Shoop-York will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Mueller Inc. Helping Hand Fund (1925 Hutchins Ave. Ballinger, TX 76821) that Philip actively participated in and felt strongly about.

Raymond T. Meza passed away on December 3, 2023 at the age of 64. Raymond Torres Meza was born on December 8, 1958, to Pedro and Refugia Meza. Raymond was a graduate of San Angelo Central High School and attended Angelo State University.

On July 22, 1978, Raymond and Norma Married and had three children, Raymond T. Meza II, Monica Meza Harding and Timothy Meza.

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Raymond T Meza, husband, father, grandfather, son in law, mentor and friend to many. Raymond will be remembered by close family and many friends as a pillar in the community and a successful business leader in San Angelo. Raymond was a visionary, and a problem-solver. His God given ability included a heart of compassion, a tender heart, and the love to serve others. There was not a problem that Raymond encountered that could not be solved, because of the wisdom and understanding that God had given him. His faith in God allowed him to have faith in his fellowman. Raymond was called to leave a legacy in the lives of others.

Raymond is survived by his family; his lovely wife, Norma of 46 years. His pride and joy were his children and grandchildren Monica and her husband Brandon Harding, and son Timothy and wife Ashley Meza. His grandchildren were Amanda Meza, Brooklyn, Madison, Sterling, Spencer, Sutton Harding and Great-granddaughter Emerson Harding. He is also survived by his in-laws Antonio and Mary Zapata, three brothers and two sisters, Rosa Sanchez, Delfina and

Rolando Ortiz, Vincent and Antonia Meza, Jose Luis and Nora Meza, Robert and Delia Meza, and Sylvia Martinez as well as many nieces and nephews, sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws and numerous other relatives and friends. Raymond was predeceased by his son Raymond T Meza II, parents Pedro Sr. and Refugia Meza, his brother Pete Meza Jr. and Robert A. Nickel his mentor and friend.

Raymond grew up around the fencing business and started to work at Twin Moutain Fence company at the age of 7. He acquired the Twin Mountain from his mentor and friend Robert a. Nickel, son of the founder Homer G Nickel. Raymond worked on making “Twin Mountain” synonymous with fencing. Raymond made a difference in the fence business by having prompt delivery and great customer service. His customers became his friends. Raymond always cared for his employees and was proud of the dedication they have shown for to the company. He walked by the words his dad had spoken to him, “Work hard and treat others fairly. That’s the only way to be somebody.”

Raymond was a successful business man. He volunteered his limited spare time to numerous community organizations. Raymond was a member of the Christian Men’s Network where he was devoted to helping connect men and fathers to Christ. Raymond held weekly Bible studies with his grandsons Spencer and Sterling. Raymond was part of the San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo. He was a recipient of the Golden Spur Award for his invaluable service and dedication to the San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo and was a Premium Platinum buyer. He never turned down helping them out. Raymond truly had a heart for the Rodeo’s mission. Raymond Served on the Board at the West Texas Boys Ranch, because he saw the youth needing support to help them overcome adversity in their young lives. Raymond assisted the Women’s Shelter. Raymond was part of the original Leadership San Angelo and became Board President 1999 - Twin Mountain Fence has been a Chamber of Commerce member for over 58 years. Raymond Meza has been a volunteer and advocate for the San Angelo YMCA for over twenty-eight years. During his time supporting the YMCA, Raymond has advanced the YMCA's mission to serve through policy, philanthropy and avocation. Raymond was awarded the YMCA’s Lifetime Achievement Award and was made an honorary board member. His guidance, advice and overall support of the staff and the work they do has been instrumental in the Y's success. Raymond served on the board of the board of The Boys and Girls Club. His heart for the youth of this community took precedence. Raymond was a member of The Life Church and served as an Elder. He was School Board President of TLCA School for 14 years. There are so many organizations that Raymond supported. Raymond served his community in countless ways and always saw it as a privilege to do so.

Raymond was an avid reader, passionate about history, enjoyed riding his bike, playing tennis, jogging, skiing, and traveling. Raymond was a man wise beyond his years.

Pallbearers will be Timothy Meza, Brandon Harding, Spencer Harding, Sterling Harding, Tommy Janusz, Marco Jimenez, and Honorary Pallbearer Sutton Meza Harding.

A visitation will be held at Harper Funeral Home from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Friday, December 8, 2023. A Celebration of Life Services will be on December 9, 2023 at 2:00 pm at The Life Church 3301 TLC Way. Pastor Walt Landers officiating. Burial to follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens.

Family is asking that memorials be sent to the Raymond T Meza II Memorial Scholarship foundation at the San Angelo Area Foundation.

Raymond fulfilled his life calling and that was to serve his family first and to serve the people in the San Angelo community and across the world.

Robert (Matt) Madison Moorehead Sr., 75, started his eternal journey on December 2nd, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones. Matt was born on June 1st, 1948 in San Angelo, Texas to Dorris Dile and Mary Jane Kerr Moorehead. The third of seven children, family gatherings, mischievous outings, and his love for nature helped to shape his character and charm. Inside this loving home, full of imagination and curiosity, Matt would share his childhood with Dawn, Dile, Joe, Janey, and Jeff where many wonderful memories were made.

During this time, Matt would start his education, becoming a part of Lake View High School’s graduating class of 1966. He would continue his educational journey by joining the US Navy where he became a cook. His love for his country, politics, cooking, and nature would continue to influence his views and philosophies throughout his life. Matt then would leave the Navy and continue his working career with Gandy’s Dairy making many friends along the way and starting a family with his loving wife, Jeannette. Soon, the first of two wonderful children would be born, Jeni and Amy.

Matt then would start his next journey beside an amazing lady and wife, Donna Gilbert. Together they would create a loving and exciting home with her daughter, Stephnie. Throughout the years, Matt would change his profession and explore a new path with Haliburton. It was during this time, Matt and Donna would expand their little “brady bunch” family with the additions of Beth and Robert. Throughout this time, Matt would start new endeavors and take his life on the road.

His next chapter would have Matt traveling miles and miles as a long-haul driver for Prime exploring all the states and taking in all magnitudes of scenery until he retired. During retirement, Matt would find himself making new friends, growing new relationships, and answering to the name “Grandpa Matt” to his many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Matt is survived by his children, Jennifer Dunn (Jim), Amy Martin (Johnny), Stephnie Holt (David), Elizabeth Proctor (Tim), and Robert Moorehead Jr (Kendra); 12 grandchildren, MaLori, Christopher, Breanna, Julia, Tori, Mackenzie, Hailey, Brandon, Brittany, Brooklyn, Lexie, and Madison; and 6 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dorris and Jane Moorehead, and brother, James Dile Moorehead.

Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on December 20th, 2023 at Fairmount Cemetery located at 1120 W. Ave. N in San Angelo.

The family would like to thank all his extended family and friends that love him unconditionally. We would also like to thank all the staff at Shannon Hospital Emergency and Shannon Oncology Center that worked hard to make Matt’s final days follow his path.

"Bitsie" Erna Turner Fowler, 69 of San Angelo passed away Monday, December 4, 2023.

Celebration of life services will be 1:00 PM Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Mrs. Fowler was born on September 20, 1954 in San Angelo to James and Ruby Turner. Bitsie graduated from San Angelo Central High School and earned her LVN from Howard College of San Angelo. She worked at Community Medical Center and Shannon Medical Center for over 30 years in women's health. Bitsie married Everett Fowler on September 20, 1984 in San Angelo. He passed away on July 2, 2020 after 36 years of marriage. She was kind, gracious, and loving. Bitsie enjoyed being crafty, scrapbooking, and making Christmas ornaments. She loved spending time with family and friends. During the last 6 years her daughter, Elizabeth, was by her side caring for her needs.

Bitsie is survived by 6 children, Christy Correa and husband Jeff of Canyon Lake, Amanda Galyean and husband Bobby of San Angelo, James Fowler of San Angelo, Elizabeth Pineiro and husband Michael of San Angelo, Cindy Lewis of Natchez, Mississippi, and Nathan Fowler and wife Donna of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; 10 grandchildren; and numerous other loved family and friends.

The family would like to thank the staff at Shannon Medical Center and Hospice of San Angelo for their care.
 

Judy Kim Stewart, 65, of San Angelo passed away on Monday, December 5, 2023.

Private family services will be at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Ms. Stewart was born on March 28, 1958 in San Angelo to Bill and Sylvia Martin. She graduated from Killeen High School in 1978. After high school she moved to San Angelo and was a home health care giver most of her life. She was loving but ornery. Kim especially loved her brother Ricci and spending time with her family. She enjoyed listening to music and dancing. Kim had a close group of friends who she enjoyed hanging out with. She was an original.

Kim is survived by her two children, Jeffery Ellis of Kentucky and Anthony Elder of Australia; a brother Ricci Roberts of San Angelo; father, Jackie Burney and Dianna Stout of San Angelo; cousin, Sandy Chappell and husband Johnny of San Angelo; uncle, Jerry Burney of San Angelo; and her loving dog and companion, Sylvia.

Evelyn Bernice “Boots” Fulcher was born in Ellenton, South Carolina on May 10, 1937. She met the love of her life, Jack Fulcher, while attending Texas Western College in El Paso, Tx. Jack and Boots married on May 30, 1955 in El Paso. Following Jack’s service in the Army, they moved to San Angelo where both worked at General Telephone Company. Jack was the VP of Data Processing for GTEDS and Boots was the company librarian. Following General Tel’s acquisition by Verizon, Boots followed Jack to Fort Wayne, Indiana; Los Angeles, California; and Bradenton, Florida as Jack advanced in the company. It was in Florida that Boots met the second love of her life….golf!

Upon Jack’s retirement, they returned to San Angelo and built a home overlooking the 12th hole at Bentwood Country Club. Boots played many rounds of golf and was very active in the Bentwood Women’s Golf Association, serving two terms as President. She and Jack were often found on the links or enjoying the 19th hole at the club. After Jack’s passing in 2008, Boots continued her involvement in women’s golf and was known for her volunteer efforts at the club. Boots looked forward to her Wednesday Bentwood supper with her many friends (I think she still has a stack of unused pizza coupons from the Wed. drawings she frequently won!)

Boots and her good friend Billie McCleery enjoyed the Sunday church services at Southland Baptist Church. We want to thank the many folks who befriended and looked out for Boots over the years-- including great neighbors and friends like the Grafas, the Stewarts, and many more too numerous to mention. We thank the doctors and staff of Shannon Hospital, Boots’ friends and the employees at Braden Park, as well as the dedicated folks with Gentiva and Visiting Angels. Each has gone above and beyond to ensure that Boots was loved and well cared for.

Boots was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jack, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Herb and Tillye Fulcher, Mildred and Otis Jacob, and Gladys and Buster Dooley. She is survived by her nieces Kay (Allen) Mills, Alice Schroeder, Nancy (Tommy) Miller, and nephew Gene (Rae Ann Roberts) Fulcher along with many great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Donations in lieu of flowers are appreciated and may be directed to Gentiva Hospice in San Angelo or the charity of your choosing.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Harper Funeral Home. A burial will follow at Evergreen cemetery in Ballinger, TX.

Sharon Elizabeth Scaggs, 80, of San Angelo passed away on December 4, 2023.

She was born on October 23, 1943, in Fort Worth, Texas to Charles and Jewell Bennett Dominy. She graduated from Paschal High School in Fort Worth and attended Howard Payne University. She met her husband, Phil T. Scaggs, and they were married on December 2, 1960, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

Sharon enjoyed interior decorating, flower design, playing bridge, and golfing with her husband and friends. They enjoyed camping in Big Bend and their favorite getaway place was Cloudcroft, New Mexico. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brother, Charles F. Dominy, Jr.

She is survived by her two daughters, Liz (Jeanette) Scaggs of Dallas and Margaret (Steve) Lupton of San Angelo; three grandchildren, Ryan (Holly) Lupton of San Angelo, Georgia Lupton, and Philip Lupton, both of Austin; two great-grandchildren, Liv and Ivy Lupton; and sister, Beck Kirkpatrick of Fort Worth.

A memorial service will be held at 9:30 AM, Thursday, December 7, 2023, at Harper Funeral Home Chapel. She will be inurned at First United Methodist Church Columbarium during a private ceremony.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Meals for the Elderly or a charity of your choice.
