“The best teachers are those who show you where to look but don’t tell you what to see.” Alexandra Trenfor
Patience Vietch Cyphers was such a teacher. She was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming to Annie Laurie and Burl Vietch on October 14, 1939, and grew up in Washington, DC. She began a joyful reunion with them on November 22, 2024.
Be-bee graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches with a Bachelor’s degree in Education. She played baskeball at SFASU, and met her husband Wayne. She and Wayne moved to San Angelo when both began teaching positions at Lake View High School.
Be-bee taught American literature and English grammar for many years at Lake View. She then worked as office manager at Hesse Real Estate for a number of years, and then taught English at Central High School until her retirement.
In addition to her parents, Be-bee was preceded in death by her beloved aunt Mary S. Williams and uncle Paul R. Williams. She is survived by son Bill, grandchildren Brooke, Sarah, Angelle and Emalee, and great granddaughter Elizabeth.
In her final days, Be-bee was lovingly cared for by several of her former students and loving friends, who have never forgotten the impact she made on their lives.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, November 29 at Harper Funeral Home, 2606 Southland Blvd., San Angelo, TX. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be sent to Hospice of San Angelo or a charity of your choice.
