Smith William

William O' Daniel (Dan) Smith, 75, died on December 27th, 2013 at his home in Floydada, TX.
Dan, or Danny as his family knew him, was born in a farmhouse in Brown County, TX on March 22nd, 1938 to the late Hazael Millican Smith and Willie Owen Smith. In 1962 he married his late wife, Karen Goen Smith of Floydada, TX. Dan graduated from Arlington High School in 1956 and from Baylor University in 1961. After receiving his PhD in Distributive Education from the University of Minnesota, Dan moved to San Angelo, TX where he taught at Angelo State University from 1974-2001. Dan retired and moved to Brownwood, TX where he maintained a pecan orchard for several years before moving to Floydada, TX to be closer to family. Dan Smith was a gentle man who saw only the best in those around him. He enjoyed his family and was especially proud of his three grandchildren. He will be deeply missed.
Dan is preceded in death by his parents, Hazael and Owen Smith, his wife, Karen Goen Smith, and his son Daniel Darrell Smith.
Dan is survived by a son Kyle Smith and Shelly of Floydada, TX, a daughter, Jennifer Smith Rose and Josh of Dallas, TX, and three grandchildren, Hannah and Konner Smith and Hazel Rose. He is also survived by his sister, Dorothy Emmons of Frisco, TX and his brother, James (Jim) Smith of Brady, TX as well as many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held at Johnson's Funeral Home on Sunday December 29th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Services will be held at Southland Baptist Church on Monday, December 30th at 11AM in San Angelo, TX, Graveside services will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
