Roger Dyer

Roger Glen Dyer, 69, passed away peacefully at his home in San Angelo, Tuesday, September1,2015. Visitation will be all day, Thursday, September 3, 2015 at the funeral home with family present from 6:00 to 8:00p.m.
Graveside service will be at 10:00a.m., Friday, September 4, 2015 in Pioneer Memorial Park. Services are under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home/Grape Creek.
Glen Dyer was born to the late Jack and Thelma Dyer on September 29, 1945 in Coleman, Texas. Glen married his companion and love of his life, Sharla Dyer on August 10, 1963 in Coleman, Texas.
He was always on the go. Glen loved to go and start new projects “now if he finished them was always the challenge.” Granddad was always up to a challenge though, he always did so much for his family he would know if it was broke before you did so he was the handyman of the family. Fishing was something he liked to do, he loved to take his lovely wife and go fishing at Twin Buttes. When the Great grandkids came he was always busy with them; he loved doing things for and with them so much.
Glen was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dwaine Dyer; and sister, Jane Arnold.
He is survived by his wife Sharla Dyer; brothers, Wade and wife Shirley Dyer, Ralph Dyer; children, Ronnie and wife Sabrina Dyer, Stacy Dyer; grandchildren, Josh and wife Alicia Pyle, Jimmie and Dana Dyer, Kimberly Dyer and Jason Gaston, Cory and Catie Dyer, Gerald Dyer; great-grandchildren, Paxton Gaston, Zoie Gaston, Kaiden Dyer, Kolten Dyer, Montana Dyer,Weston dyer, Carson Boyd, Jordyn Pyle, Dylyn Pyle, Angelica Pyle, Amelia Garcia, Ashley Garcia, and Isaiah Garcia.

He is survived by his wife, Mattie Mull of San Angelo; son, David Mull of Idaho; daughters, Karen Czarnecki of San Angelo and Rebecca Mull of Odessa.

Layne Thomas Stubblefield

Layne Thomas Stubblefield went to be with the Lord, Sunday morning, August 30, 2015 at his home in Water Valley. Layne was born Tuesday, October 2, 1951 in Crosbyton, Texas to Clarence and Jane Stubblefield. During his 63 years of life, Layne lived life to its fullest. He served in the United States Marine Corps as a Shore Fire Control Party Man. After his honorable discharge from the USMC, Layne earned a degree from Angelo State University as a Certified Public Accountant. Never a man to sit still, he also was a cotton farmer, auto salesman, and real estate broker for over 25 years. Layne loved to play golf and could be seen regularly on the golf course. Layne was preceded in death by his father, Clarence; and younger brother, Terry Dale Stubblefield. 
Survivors include his mother, Jane Stubblefield; wife, Pat Stubblefield; sons, Tommy Stubblefield, James Shepherd and Jeffrey Tongate; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; siblings, Butch Stubblefield, Bobby Stubblefield and Tonya Barry; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, September 1, 2015 in the Belvedere Memorial Park of San Angelo with Jeffrey Tongate officiating.

Benjamin Franklin Bennie Vacek

Funeral services for Benjamin Franklin "Bennie" Vacek, 91, longtime resident of San Angelo, will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 5, 2015 in the Johnson's Funeral Chapel with Chaplain Kevin McSpadden officiating. Interment will follow in the Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens of San Angelo with grandsons, Clint Brown, Cody Renfro, Jonathan Runion and Andrew Runion serving as pallbearers. A time of visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM on Friday, September 4, 2015 at Johnson's Funeral Home.
Bennie was born to the late, Emil A. and Matilda Horak Vacek on Saturday, April 5, 1924 in Schulenburg, Texas. He passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 29, 2015 in San Angelo. Bennie married the love of his life, Marcella E. Nicholds on August 27, 1945 in Wiemer, Texas. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus for a number of years. Bennie retired after 35 years with Holsum Bakery. He was known to many as "Bennie the Breadman". He enjoyed Polka music, dancing, fishing and playing the slot machines in Las Vegas. "Poppy", as his grandchildren call him, knew no strangers and everyone that met him soon loved him. He will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him. Bennie was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and 8 siblings. 
Survivors include his children and their spouses, Delores Brown and Robert, Cindy Renfro and Eddy, Albert Vacek and Jamie, Donald Vacek, Bridgett Runion and Tim, and Nancy Hogue and Jeff; grandchildren, Allison Hohenberger, Clint Brown, Cody Renfro, Jonathan and Andrew Runion, Aaron, Lindsay and James Vacek, and Abigail and Lauren Hogue; great grandchildren, Heston, Hudson, Addison Hohenberger, Brendan Brown, Gage and Brynlee Renfro, Cheney Rae Runion, and one on the way; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends

Gerald Wayne Gary Griffin

Gerald Wayne "Gary" Griffin, 80, of San Angelo since 1997, passed away in his home on Thursday, August 27, 2015. He was born to the late, Wilbert H. and Rachael A. Ennis Griffin on Friday, August 23, 1935 in Taylorville, Illinois. Gary married the love of his life, Dee Davis on November 3, 1953 in Paradise, Louisiana. He was of the Baptist faith. Gary retired as a Tech Sgt. E6 with the United States Air Force, after 21 years in which he served during both the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam Era. After retiring from the USAF, he then spent the next 24 years with the Iowa Air National Guard, retiring a second time in 1997. Gary was active in numerous clubs and organizations including the American Legion, VFW, DAV, Air Force Sgt. Association, and the Texas Sheriff's Association, just to name a few. His work ethic left a lasting mark on those who knew him. It has been said he was a perfectionist. He had an independent streak with a giving heart. When he gave, he did so without ever expecting anything in return. "Pop" loved his television, especially sporting events and old westerns. Gary will be missed greatly and be forever remembered as one of the greatest men ever, to those who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbert H. Griffin and Rachael A. Griffin; step mother, Minnie Griffin; wife, Dee Griffin; and brother, William Bill (Tank) Griffin. 

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Gary Wayne and Penny Griffin; grandson, Gabriel Wayne Griffin and his wife, Jessica; granddaughter, Marissa Ann Tucker and her husband, Matt; great grandchildren, Berkley Rose, Maxwell Lee, and Marley Lillian; sisters, Rose Marie Cooper, Bonnie (Salley) Mitchelson, Margie Hurst and her husband, Ron, Wendy Lee Grafton and her husband, Patrick; brothers, Albert Griffin, Mike Griffin and his wife, Jan, Glen Ray Griffin and his wife, Sherill, and J.R. Griffin and his wife, Tammy; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. 

A time of visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 PM, Friday, September 4, 2015 in the Hixson Brothers Funeral Home, Alexandria, LA. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 5, 2015 in the Dry Prong Baptist Church, Dry Prong, LA. Interment will follow in the Dry Prong Community Cemetery, Dry Prong, LA.
