Harold Lester Ellis, Jr. (Harry)

Harold Lester Ellis, Jr., 90, passed away July 14, 2015 surrounded by his family after a short battle with cancer. There will be a visitation on Friday, July 17 at Johnson's Funeral Home from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. A reception will follow at Ric and Karen Abbott's home that evening. The service will be held on Saturday, June 18 in Johnson's Funeral Home Chapel at 10 a.m. followed by a graveside service in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa, Texas at 3 p.m.

Harry was born on June 18, 1925 in Graham,Texas to Harold Lester Ellis, Sr. (Jelly) and Helen Widmayer Ellis and spent his childhood in Odessa and Big Spring. He graduated from Odessa High and was in the Army Air Corps during World War II. While stationed in Illinois he met Frances Shryock and they were married in June 1947. He graduated from Texas A&M in Chemical Engineering and worked in the oil industry in West Texas, the Gulf of Mexico, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Canada, Ekofisk in the North Sea and Nigeria. For the past three years, he and Fran have lived in San Angelo with their youngest daughter Karen and her husband Ric Abbott. Harry was a consummate gentleman who always saw the good in people and treated everyone with kindness and respect. His humor and love of life won him many friends around the world. He is predeceased by his parents Jelly and Helen Ellis of Odessa, his sister and brother-in-law Helen Marie and Frank Morris of Odessa, his niece Donna Morris and his nephew Mike Morris of Odessa.

Harry is survived by his wife Fran Ellis of San Angelo; his daughter Nancy (Herman) Vanderlaag of Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada; his son Harold (Christina) Ellis III of Richmond, Virginia; his daughter Karen (Ric) Abbott of San Angelo, Texas; his nine grandchildren: Nikki (Steve) Davy, Carla (Chace) Holland, Kathy Vanderlaag (Craig Peters), Harold Ellis IV, Matt Abbott (Ed Piker), Jenny Ellis, Stephanie (Tom) Deignan, Carrie Ellis, Cassie Ellis; his six great- grandchildren: Cameron, Tristan, Lily, Mackenzie, Jake, Cole; his nephews and niece: Tim (Judy) Morris of Ruidoso, New Mexico, Steve (Olivia) Morris of Victoria, Texas, and Cherie Widmayer of Artesia, New Mexico.

Bessie Shaw Hail

Bessie Shaw Hail passed away July 14, 2015 in San Angelo, Texas.
She was born on November 29, 1932 on the Albert Graston farm to Truman and Gertrude Shaw.
She married Fred Hail in 1951 and they remained married until his death in 1974. In this union they had four children, Michael, Gregory, Deborah and Phyllis. She was a military wife, a farmer's wife and a supervisor of purchasing for patients needs at the San Angelo State School.
Her life revolved around her family and friends. Her happiness was directly connected to helping others. She loved to read, sew, listen to George Strait and attend a ballgame. She taught us to be independent, competitive but always together.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her son, Gregory.
She is survived by her son, Michael Hail and his wife Judy of Dallas; daughters, Deborah Waller of Carlsbad, Texas and Phyllis Rutland and her husband Craig of Hamilton; sister, Gloria Alexander and her husband Gene of Ganado, Texas; 9 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 6:00–8:00 PM Thursday at Johnson's Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 AM Friday, July 17, 2015, in Johnson's Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.

Bettie Bradford

Bettie Jean Keith Bradford, 85, went home to be with the Lord July 14th, 2015, surrounded by her family. Memorial service at 10:00a.m., Saturday, July 18, 2015 at Shaffer Funeral Home’s Pioneer Chapel. Services are under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home/Grape Creek.
She was born 12th of 13 children to Artimus and Sarah Keith on July 30, 1929, in Winters, Texas, and spent her childhood years in Menard, Texas.
She is preceded in death by husband, Bill Bradford, daughter, Ginger Mory, son, Bert Bradford, and grandson, E.C. Hoelle.
She is survived by her sister, Dorothy (Aunt Winnie) Laughlin, daughters, Jeannie (Eric) Hoelle and Tillie (Robert) Slagle, son-in-law, Gary Mory, and daughter-in-law, Donna Hooker, grandchildren Kenneth Myers, Monica Castleberry, Lara Nesler, Patrick Slagle, Billie (Shawna) Bradford, Bryan Bradford, Brady Bradford, great grandchildren Misti, Courtney, Lane, Austin, Jeremiah, Logan, Emily, and Mackenzie and many other loving family members and friends.She was loved by all who knew her.
She was the “best little mama in the world” according to her daughters. She sewed her love into her special quilts, baked it into her meals, and poured it into her warm hugs and kisses. Her smile and laugh would warm the coldest heart. Her very presence demanded respect and honor. She was the true matriarch of her family.

Lucille Little Blackenship Gowin

Lucille Little Blankenship Gowin, 89, of Abilene, passed away on July 14, 2015 in San Angelo, Texas.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, July 18th at 10:00 am in Bradshaw Cemetery with Reverend Jack Stevens officiating. Arrangements are with Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Visitation with family will be at her residence after the service.

Lucille was born in Bradshaw Texas to Ruby and Emmett Lee Little on February 14, 1926. She went to school at Bradshaw. She married Gerald Jackson Blankenship in 1944. She married Samuel C. Gowin in 1971. She graduated from Gail Business College in Abilene Texas. She worked as Director of Sears Community Action Program for 5 years. She was also employed by K-mart.

Lucille is preceded in death by parents, Ruby Bagwell Little and Emmett Lee Little; sisters, Imogene Thompson and Lois Woolsey; spouses, Jack Blankenship and Sam Gowin, cousin- J.B. Little and great grandson Cody Elder.

Lucille is survived by her children-Vicki Blankenship, Rocky Blankenship and wife Indire Hajredini, Nancy Blankenship Baxter, Ruby and Gary Wilson, Sandra Blankenship, and Susan Blankenship, Brothers, Leroy Little and James Little; Grandchildren, Michele Campbell, John and Jean Stanfield, Amanda and Thad Garlinghouse , Jason and Ashley Myers, Randall and Kelle Wilson, Scott Wilson and Kaylee Blankenship White; Great-Grandchildren- Chance Murphy, Joe Murphy, Cheyenne Bryant, Heather Campbell, Max Wilson, Chloe Hansen. She treasured her cousin Melba Little, and niece Anita Evans.

Memorials may be given to American Heart Association . The family of Lucille wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. D'Arcie Chitwood, the entire staff of Meadow Creek Nursing Center. We appreciate especially the loving care during her final hours provided by Lady Jane Motley, Robin Gross, Samantha Serrano, Guadalupe Galindo, and Alexandra Rico and for the support of Crystal Muniz and Sherry Owen. We would also like to thank the staff of Gentiva Hospice Care, especially Robbie Brewer RN.

Patricia Ann Rector

Patricia Ann (Pati) Rector age 82 of San Angelo, TX passed away on July 12, 2015, at a local hospital after a long illness.

Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday July 15 at Holy Angels Catholic Church with Father Charles Greenwell officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Robert Massie funeral home.

Pati, the second of seven children was born in Buffalo, NY on October 25, 1932 to Harry M. and Pauline Kelly. She was preceded in death by her parents and her oldest sister Margaret Kelly Graham.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years Bud Rector, her sisters Kathleen Kelly Vitali, Paula Kelly Gallagher, Dona Kelly Carloni, Karen Kelly Jackson, and her brother John Kelly, all of the Buffalo, New York area. Her marriage was blessed with two daughters, Sue Lamb of San Angelo, TX and Marilyn Davis of Austin, TX; three granddaughters, Kristin Peters and husband Jeff Peters, Lindsey Davis Todd and husband Smokey Todd of Austin, TX, Katie Davis of Austin, TX; four great grandsons, Hayden Peters and Liam Peters of San Angelo, TX, Tristin Todd and Tobias Todd of Austin, TX.

Pati met and married the love of her life. Bud Rector in 1952 San Antonio, TX while they were both serving in the US Air Force. She separated from the USAF in 1953 as they began their family. They spent the next 21 years traveling to several USAF locations in Azores Islands, Turkey, New York, Louisiana, Japan, and Texas, finally settling in San Angelo, TX when Bud retired from the USAF.

Pati then went to school and became a Nurse and served in various positions and hospitals in San Angelo, and taught nursing for several years thereafter, retiring finally in 2005.
She lived her life to the fullest enjoying gardening, painting, and playing with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She loved sailing with her family in Turkey, Japan, and in San Angelo lakes (back when our lakes were full of water).

She will be deeply missed by her family and those who loved her. We are comforted knowing that she is no longer suffering and is with her beloved Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the American Heart Association, 10900-b Stonelake Blvd., Suite 320, Austin, TX 78759

Victoria G. San Juan, 59, passed away Sunday, July 12, 2015. She was born April 19, 1956, in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, to Paulo Z. Aguilar and Juanita Garcia.

She is survived by her daughters, Matilde Ramirez and Maricela San Juan (husband Luis Guerrero, Jr.); son, Antonio San Juan; and step-son, Silverio San Juan (wife Marisol); brothers, Bernabe Aguilar (wife Rosa), Paulo Z. Aguilar, Jr., and Victor Garcia Tristan (wife Alma); sisters, Alicia Lopez (husband Francisco), Juanita Velasquez (husband Rosendo), Paula Torres (husband Filiberto), and Luisa Aguilar.

She is also survived by her grandchildren, Luis Javier Guerrero, Jasmine Ramirez, Maribel Guerrero, Luis Antonio San Juan, and Silverio San Juan, Jr.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 14, 2015, from 1:00 to 9:00 P.M. at Gutierrez Funeral Chapels/North. A Prayer Service will take place at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home chapel. A Chapel Service is scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, July 15, 2015. Interment will follow at Fairmount Cemetery.

Cleta Walldene Smith Hegwood

Cleta Walldene Smith Hegwood went to live in the House of the Lord on Saturday, July 11, 2015. Viewing will be all day Monday, July 13, 2015 with family present from 6 pm to 8 pm at Robert Massie Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, July 14, 2015, in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.

Cleta was born on December 26, 1930 in San Angelo, Texas. She was raised by her mother Laverne Smith Jones and her loving and caring step-father Louis Jones (Big Daddy).

Although an only child, she was raised in a large loving family of aunts, uncles and many cousins. Her family was very important to her and she kept up with each of them regularly. Being raised in San Angelo she attended Lake View schools where she graduated in 1948. She was very active in keeping her classmate connected. To this day, those still in San Angelo have lunch together on the first Tuesday of each month at Rio Concho Manor a tradition she started almost 15 years ago.

On June 14, 2003 she married her high school sweetheart Charles Gene Hegwood. They were married 12 years.

Cleta's first job was with the San Angelo Telephone Company, which explains her love for talking on the phone at least 23 hours a day. Some of her other occupational history would include First National Bank of San Angelo, First National Bank of Midland, Rainbow Skating Rink of Midland and the Robert Lee Care Center. During her tenure at the Robert Lee Care Center she was the 911 operator. She received the State award for being the 911 Operator of the Year.

Cleta was preceded in death by her parents Louis Jones & Laverne Jones Smith, grandparents B.E. and Maude Tumlinson, numerous aunts and uncles; and one great-grand daughter McKenzie Holcroft.

She is survived by her husband Charles Gene Hegwood of San Angelo; daughter Judy Smith and husband Charlie, son Tommy Bryant and wife Darlene, and step-son Mike Hegwood all of San Angelo; grand daughter DeAnna Higdon Smith and husband Joe of Richland Hills, grandson James Higdon of Ft. Worth, grand daughter Tasha Glasscock and husband Mike of Leander, grand daughter Cherish Whaley of San Angelo, grand daughter Shay Lynn Fewell and husband Caleb of San Angelo, grandson Johnathan Hegwood of Olympia, WA, and grandson Jacob Hegwood and wife Arianna Martinez of Midland; great grandchildren, Blake Higdon, Cole Smith, JD Smith, Hunter Holiedy, Kayleigh Holiedy, Gracie Glasscock, Conner Holcroft, Faithlynn Fewell, Ryan Hegwood and Esmay Hegwood. She is also survived by sister-in-law and brother -in-law Ludale and John Mayfield of San Angelo. She also leaves behind her life long friend Charlene Hitt.
