Jim Grady Garmon of Wall, Texas, age 73, took his last breath here on earth and his first one in Heaven on November 15, 2016. Surrounded by his loving family, Jim peacefully went to be with his best friend and Savior, Lord Jesus Christ at a local nursing home.
Jim was born in Wall, Texas on May 15, 1943 to Fred and Mary D. Garmon. Jim attended Baptist Bible College in Springville, Missouri and Sul Ross University campus location in Uvalde, Texas.
He married his loving wife of 37 years, Betty Sue Roberts on June 8, 1979. Jim lived most his life in Uvalde and Wall, Texas. Jim was a licensed Baptist minister. He was an active member of the Veribest Baptist Church. Jim loved learning Spanish and made several mission trips to Honduras.
He loved his Lord and enjoyed listening to Gospel music, especially the Gaither Homecoming videos. Jim enjoyed listening to and watching his favorite preachers including Lester Roloff, WA Chriswell, Adrian Rogers, and Charles Stanley. Jim was a prayer warrior, a devout reader of the Word of God and spent much time talking to his Lord.
He loved to hunt, drive around on the family farms, and loved spending time with his dog Buddy. Jim loved football and was a Dallas Cowboy’s fan. He loved to read, with the Bible being his favorite book to read. He also received many blessings from his favorite author, Watchman Nee.
Following in his dad’s footsteps, Jim was a water well driller. He was appointed and served several terms as a board member of the Texas Water Development Council.
Jim is survived by his wife, Betty Sue Garmon of Wall, son, Travis and his wife Kaci, their sons, Jarrett and Jensen of San Angelo, son Clayton Garmon and his wife Brittany, their children Kenzie and Klaytin Grady of Wall, Texas, niece Donna Garmon, numerous cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, mother-in-law, Martha Roberts, and brothers Donald and Ralph Garmon.
Pallbearers will be W.C. Smith, Jr., Les Duncan, Dan Reed, Brian Halfmann, Norman Dierschke, and Charlie Ray.
The family offers heartful thanks to Geri, LaChieale, Elise, Kim and all the staff of Regency House. Thank you also to Greta and staff of Kindred Hospice.
Family visitation will be held from 6-8 pm on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Harper Funeral Home in San Angelo, Texas. Celebration of life will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, November 18, 2016 at Harper Funeral Home with Reverend Joe West and Reverend Chad Leutwyler officiating. Burial will follow in the Wall Cemetery.
