Gilbert O. Rodriguez

Gilbert O. Rodriguez ("Jiggy Jig") went to be with our Lord on October 4, 2015. He is survived by Teresa Villarreal his wife for 38 years and his children Gilbert, Michael and his wife Gracie, David, Gloria and her husband Robert, Johnny amd his wife Nina and Paul. Gilbert leaves behind 19 Grandchildren and 12 great Grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Elvira Gonzales, Nellie Balderas, Janie Windes, Belia Pena, Abraham Rodriguez, Jr, Alberto Rodriques and Erlinda Jacoby. Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents Abraham and Juanita Rodriguez and siblings Nora Patena Rodriguez and Honofre Rodriguez. Gilbert loved to play his guitar and write music. He was known to his closest friends as "Jiggy Jig". One of Gilbert's proudest moments when he was crowned world champion sheep shearer.
Family and friends will be received for a Rosary Service at 7 PM Thursday October 8, 2015 at Johnson's Funeral Home Chapel. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Friday October 9, 2015 at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Cemetery in Brady, TX

Dorothy Louise Hamilton

On the Lord's beautiful day Sunday October 4 2015 Dorothy stepped from her earthly body into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's. She was 93.
Memorial Services will be Tuesday October 6, 2015 at Baptist Memorial Chapel at 10:00 am. Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 pm Fairmount Cemetery under the direction of Johnson's Funeral Home.
Dorothy was born February 27, 1922 to Norman and Sallie Wilkerson. She was raised in Tankersley, TX with 4 great siblings. She married Ted Lewis in 1939 and had one daughter Debbie, Ted passed away and Dorothy married Jim Hamilton in Mertzon. She worked with Jim at Shelton Oil and Gas and later Western Auto as the office manager. Her proudest accomplishment beside being a wonderful mother and grandmother was the Merzton Mall which she owned and operated for 21 years. She loved all her customers and made many friends there. Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents and her husband Jim Hamilton, her brother Oscar Wilkerson, sisters Ida Mae Baze, and Cora Ashmore. She is survived by her Sister Pearl Young, Daughter Debbie Thorp and husband Jim, step son Mike Hamilton and wife Darlene both of Mertzon. Grandchildren Ty Gibson, Jase Gibson, Jamie Koonce and and husband Chad, Jake Hamilton and wife Nicole, four Great Grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. The Family would like to thank Baptist Memorial Division 5 staff for their loving care of Dorothy. The family would like to thank Liz, Carol, Alice, Jennifer and Marsha for loving "Miss Dot" and helping Debbie care for her. In Lieu of flowers the family request donation be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation or Hospice of San Angelo. Today Dorothy is celebrating with her family in Heaven, Dance on "Miss Dot" till we meet again.

Luz Contreras Urquidi

Luz Contreras Urquidi, 88, of San Angelo, passed away on October 4, 2015 at a local care center.

Prayer service will be held 7:00pm Monday October 5, 2015 at Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held 2:00pm Tuesday, October 6, 2015, at Robert Massie Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.


She was born on May 23, 1927 to Manuel and Dolores (Valenzuela) Contreras in El Nogal, Chih Mexico. Luz was a wonderful cook and loving grandmother and great grandmother. She loved to listen to music on the radio all day long.



She was preceded in death by mother, Dolores Contreras, father, Manuel Contreras, son, Rodrigo Ramirez Sr., grandson, Nakia Lee Ramirez, step grandson, LCpl. Elias Torres, III., brother, Alfredo Contreras, sisters, Fortunata Ramos, Antonia Morales, Alicia Garcia, Ana Gonzales and Josefina Bosquez.


She is survived by daughters, Martha Ramirez and husband, Elias Torres of Veribest, Araceli Urquidi of San Angelo, grandson, Rodrigo (Rigo) Ramirez, Jr. of Veribest, granddaughter, Hannah Marie Ledesma, grandson, Angel Luis Ledesma, great-granddaughter, Arianna Alexis Ramirez, great-grandson, Konrad Lee Ramirez all of San Angelo.

Memorials are suggested to Gentiva Hospice or Arbor Terrace.

Bernice Adelee McNease

Bernice Adelee McNease, 81, of Albuquerque, NM and former longtime resident of San Angelo, passed away Thursday, October 1, 2015 in Albuquerque. She was born to the late, Montrivell and Catherine Dell Jackson Eden on May 27, 1934 in Port Arthur, Texas. Bernice married Kenneth Larry McNease in Port Arthur in 1954 and he preceded her in death in 2007. She retired as a circulation clerk with the Livestock Weekly publication. She was a charter member of St. Mark Presbyterian Church in San Angelo and later became a member of Rio Rancho Presbyterian Church in NM. She volunteered with many organizations such as the American Cancer Society, San Angelo Community Medical Center, and Fort Concho RSVP. Bernice will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved her. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant daughter, Catherine Ellen McNease; son, Larry Paul McNease; sister, Patsy Bennett; and nephew, Barry Bennett. 
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Rodney Fred and Donna McNease; granddaughters, Alexandra Adelee McNease and Sandra Stewart; great grandchildren, Madison, Tyler and Abigail Stewart; brother-in-law, Willie Smith Bennett; niece, Carol Perry and her family; nephew, Monty Bennett; and a number of other relatives and friends. 
An open time of visitation for those wishing to pay respects and sign the guestbook at Johnson's Funeral Home on Sunday, October 4, 2015. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, October 5, 2015 in the Fairmount Cemetery. Rev. Craig Meyers will officiate.

Odis Wallace LeVrier

Renowned antique telephone collector, Odis Wallace LeVrier, 89, passed away Friday. He was born August 6, 1926 in Sour Lake, Texas to Arthur and Jewell LeVrier. 
Odis loved working on telephones including installing rural lines while in his teens. Later, he worked for Western Electric and then Kellogg Switchboard and Supply Co installing and repairing telephone equipment. In 1956, while working in Arizona, he met and married Iris Bickle. They traveled with Kellogg for several years and then settled in Kingman, Arizona working at the local telephone company. Odis and Iris later moved to San Angelo where he worked for Sace, Inc. In 1974 he formed his own company, House of Telephones, and also worked for Allied Communications.
Odis was known for his extensive collection of antique telephones and an elaborate Model HO gauge railroad layout at his home. But he will be fondly remembered for his resourcefulness, humor and his love of family.
He is survived by his wife, Iris; daughter Vicki Allan of Austin; Yvonne Ezell of San Angelo; and Annette Argabright (Steve) of Dallas. Grandchildren are Christopher, Ryan and Jeremy Scroggins; Brandon (Katy), Brandi and August Ezell; and Annessa and Sara Argabright. Great grandchildren are Zoe and Damien Scroggins, and Oliver Argabright. Other family survivors are sisters-in-law Bernice LeVrier, Frances LeVrier, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jewel and Arthur LeVrier; brothers Arthur and Hugh; sister Gladys Boyd and husband Valry; son Kurt LeVrier; nephew Grady LeVrier; and beloved dog, Marta.
Odis, a decorated World War II Naval Veteran, was active in Lions Club International, International Telephone Pioneers of America, Concho Valley Telephone Pioneers Association of San Angelo, Antique Telephone Collectors Association, the Railroad Museum, was a charter member of Telephone Collectors International, as well as other organizations.
Graveside Services will be Wednesday, October 7th, at noon, at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens in San Angelo, officiated by Stan Whites of Sierra Vista United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of San Angelo or the charity of choice.

Peggy Jeanellen (Jeannie) Caton Fleming went home to her Savior and Lord Jesus Christ and her husband Rick Fleming, Sr. and her father James Caton at 3:24 am, Thursday, October 1, 2015.
Jeannie was born September 2, 1958 in Salina, Kansas to James Caton and Eunice Holsenbeck Caton. She attended Wall Grade School and graduated from Rockport-Fulton High School in Rockport, TX.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rick Fleming, Sr. and father, James Caton and in-laws, Roe and Inez Fleming.
Jeannie is survived by her mother, Eunice Caton; one brother, Wade Caton and wife Deborah of San Angelo, TX; one sister, Beverly Robertson and husband Ray of Rockport, TX; two sons, Jeff Fleming, Sr. and wife Darlene of San Angelo, TX and Rick Fleming, Jr. and wife Chelsea of San Angelo, TX; two daughters, Amanda Fleming and Josh Osgood of Christoval, TX and Amber Bowman and Raymond Allen of San Angelo, TX; one step daughter, Suzette Gibbs and husband Cody of Kerrville, TX; sixteen grandchildren, Stephanie, Amber, Jeff, Jr. and Nicholas Fleming, Ashlyn, Trey, Trent and Adyson Fleming, DaCoda Fleming, Zachary, Ian and Launa Chatman, Chrystian Fleming, Jaydyn Bowman, Peyton and Landyn Allen; two nieces, Jody Hampton and Julie DeLaMure; two nephews, James Chadwick and Shawn Caton.
Visitation will be held all day Friday, October 2, 2015 at the funeral home with family present 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 3, 2015 at CrossPointe Fellowship Church located at 4210 Coliseum Drive with Pastor Ramona Oliver officiating with interment to follow at Grape Creek Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home/Sherwood Way.
