Joan F. Jensen, 89, of San Angelo died Thursday, January 26, 2017 in San Angelo. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday Febuary 5, 2017 at St. Mark Presbyterian Church with rev. Craig Meyers officiating. Joan will be buried beside her beloved husband and near their son at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Arrangements are by Harper Funeral Home.
Joan was born to Dee and Bernice Ferrin in Cherokee, Iowa. After graduation from high school there, she attended Cottey Junior College at Nevada, Mo.
Joan married Robert K. Jensen, also of Cherokee, on November 7, 1947, in the St. Paul Methodist Church. Bob was in the family business until 1956, when they moved to Los Alamos, NM, where they resided 26 years. He worked for the Atomic Energy Commission, and Joan was employed for a number of years at the National Laboratory. Upon retirement, they moved to San Angelo in March, 1982.
Joan attended St. Mark Presbyterian Church in San Angelo as it “felt like home.” She was a member-at-large of D.A.R., belonged to the NM Chapter of Mayflower while living in Los Alamos, and was a member of Chapter FG P.E.O. in San Angelo, having been a member of P.E.O. for over 60 years.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, in 1999, and their son, Robert Reese, in 1982. She is survived by her daughter, Linda J. Burns, and her husband, Michael, of Rail Road Flat, CA.
Memorials may be made to St. Mark Presbyterian Church or the Humane Society of Tom Green County.
