On May 11, 2018 Linda Sue Adams Carnes departed this Earth to join her beloved husband Clifton Lee Carnes, in God's kingdom.
Linda was born on April 21, 1944 in Mitchell County, Texas. She was the 7th of 11 children born to James "Daddy Bill" Adams and Lenora Feaster Adams. Linda had a servant's heart and her generosity was felt by many. She had a gift for making those around her feel special.
Linda married the love of her life, Mr. Clifton Lee Carnes on June 29, 1964 in Sweetwater, Texas. They would go on to raise both a daughter and a son, and enjoy a 42 year marriage. While Linda raised her children she was actively involved in the PTA, eventually becoming a lifetime member. Linda found true joy in baking and decorating cakes for friends and family, ever missing an opportunity to host a party or help with a wedding.
Linda was a founding member of Grace Temple Baptist Church and served as their executive secretary. She later went on to become a secretary for McCammon Oil and for the late Judge Tom Massey.
Linda was so proud of her son Steven as he chose his career in law enforcement and she quickly became an avid supporter, always looking for ways to make the law enforcement community feel loved, respected and supported. In her later years Linda lived with her daughter Leanne, they were always there for each other and they shared a very special bond.
Linda was preceded in death by her husband Clifton Lee Carnes, her parents James and Lenora Adams, as well as her brothers Veril, Leon, James, Michael and Clay Adams and one sister Juanice Adams Vann. Linda is survived by her daughter Leanne Carnes huff, her son Steven Carnes and wife Jodi, and her beloved grandson Bradley Carnes all of San Angelo. She is also survived by her sister Elsie Gillilan of Sherman, Texas, a brother W.L. "Dub" Adams of Uvalde, Texas, a brother Randy Adams of Tom Bean, Texas, and a brother Tony Adams of Colorado City, Texas. Linda also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and cousins that she adored.
Visitation will be on Tuesday May 15, 2018 from 5PM to 9PM at Johnson's Funeral Home 435 W. Beauregard Avenue, San Angelo, Texas. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday May 16, 2018 at 10AM at Southgate Church of Christ 528 Country Club Road San Angelo, Texas. A graveside service will be held at Fairmount Cemetery following the service at Southgate.
