Conrado Garza Jr.

Conrado Losoya Garza 61 , died July 2, 2016. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am Friday, July 8, 2016 at Robert Lee Hispanic Cemetery. Arrangements are by Shaffer Funeral Home. 
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Patty Garza; his sisters, Berta Garza and Julia Garza; his father, Conrado L. Garza, Sr.
Conrado is survived by his mother, Hortencia Garza; brothers, Raymond Garza and Steve Garza; sisters, Paula Jasso, Lucy Ziegenhorn and Alicia Garza.
You’re forever loved and greatly missed.

Rosa Maria Martinez

Rosa Maria Martinez, 67, of San Angelo went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 4, 2016 in San Angelo. Rosa was born June 5, 1948 in Guadalajara, Mexico. She was one of nine children. Rosa worked at Good Fellow AFB as a housekeeping technician Supervisor for over twenty years. She was a loving homemaker who enjoyed cooking, especially spicy food, and loved embroidery and making all sorts of items. Rosa also enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys and also loved watching soccer.She also loved her dogs, “Pepper, “Chuco” and “Lucas. ” Rosa was a caring person who always went out of her way to help others. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Rosa was preceded in death by her parents and one brother. She is survived by her loving family, husband Marciano Garza, Sr., of San Angelo; her step children, Marciano Garza, Jr. and his wife Yolanda, of San Angelo, Marcus Garza, and his wife Gretel, of San Angelo, Norma Lee Garcia, of Virginia Beach VA., Irma Garza Stewart and her husband Greg, of Corpus Christi, TX., and Jessica Graves and her husband Freddie, of San Angelo; 16 Grandchildren; 13 Great Grandchildren; 2 Sisters; and 5 Brothers. The Prayer Service will be 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at Harper Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be 10:00 A.M, Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at Harper Funeral Home with Domingo Lopez officiating. Interment will follow at Fairmount Cemetery.

Dolores Stone

Dolores Nell Dunlap Stone left behind all earthly pain and met God in heaven on July 1, 2016. She was born Sept. 15, 1939 in Brownwood, TX. to Denver and Billie (Conner) Dunlap. She spent her early years in San Angelo and often spoke of exploring the banks of the Concho River as a child. She was twice married, to Jerry Bonner on Nov. 15, 1958 and to Roy Stone on Aug. 8, 1977.
Dolores was a good mother. After finding herself a single parent, she returned to school and became a nurse to better provide for her children. Later in life she earned a college degree and became a counselor. She was a voracious reader, a published poet, and an author of children's stories. At an age when most are thinking of retirement she adopted her granddaughter and raised her as her own. We will all miss her dearly.
Dolores was preceded in death by both of her parents, two sons Troy Bonner and Terry Bonner, and her best dog ever "Junior ".
Survivors include a brother, Denver Dunlap; son, Jamie Bonner and wife Jeannie; daughters, Lisa Bonner, Christy Stone, and Ashley Irvin and husband Ty; grandchildren, Trevor Bonner, Joshua Bonner, Dwight Laurenzana, Justin Laurenzana, Bryan Kenley, Chance Bonner, Jalisa Lewis, Aaliyah Branch, Brooke Stone, and Troy Stone. She had fourteen great grandkids, including Rayna (Her coloring and movie watching partner) She is also survived by her lifetime best friend, Pat Pierce.
Viewing and visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 with family present from 6 - 7 PM at the funeral home. Graveside service will be held at 10 AM, Wednesday, July 6 at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.

Dorothy Lee (Atkinson) Cross

Dorothy Lee (Atkinson) Cross went to be with her Lord on July 2, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clay Cross and a daughter, Donna Cross. She is survived by her son, Clayton (Clay) Cross of San Angelo and her daughter, Judy (Cross) Long of Hutto. She leaves behind nine grandchildren, Doug Lubke, Ron Lubke, Dusty Hester and Danielle Cross all of San Angelo, Trenton Long of Columbus, Georgia, Trevor Long and Trey Long of Austin, Texas and Tara Long Packer of Hutto, Texas and Cindy Titus of Colorado Springs, Colorado. She is also survived by 12 great grandchildren. Dorothy was born in Mills County in the small community of Ridge to Louis and Lela Atkinson on June 25, 1922 and was the youngest of six children. Her family later moved to San Saba County where she graduated from high school at Richland Springs, Texas. After graduating, she attended and graduated from Business College in Brownwood, Texas. It was there she met her husband Clay, who was in the Air Force stationed at Camp Bowie. They were married November 18, 1945 in Kansas City, Missouri. The military afforded Dorothy the opportunity to travel which she enjoyed. During her life she managed to visit all 50 states and much of Europe while residing in England. After her husband's retirement from the military at Goodfellow AFB, the family settled in San Angelo and raised their family. In later years, business endeavors moved them to Del Rio, Texas where she lived and worked for Jim Hardin and the CPA firm of Hardin and Newsom for almost 40 years and permanently retired from there one month before her 90th birthday. While living in Del Rio she was an active member of the Central Church of Christ and later in San Angelo the Northside Church of Christ. After her retirement, she returned to San Angelo to be closer to her children and was currently residing at the St. Angelus Assisted Living facility. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 6, 2016 in the chapel of Johnson's Funeral Home with burial to follow in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.

Mavis Greenway Hughes

Mavis Pauline Greenway Hughes, 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family Thursday, June 30, 2016. She was born October 20, 1926 in Colbert, Oklahoma to Bert and Anna Mae (Potter) Greenway. Mavis married the love of her life John William (J.W.) Hughes Jr. on August 30, 1946. They were married for 64 years. Mavis was employed by Sears Roebuck and Co. from 1957 until her retirement in June 1987 from her position as soft-line supervisor. She was a long-time and active member of First Baptist. Church, San Angelo from 1948 until her death. Mrs. Hughes was a member and past President of the Concho Pearl Lions Club, a 20 years member of Meals for the Elderly Advisory Board including a term as President of the Board, and auxiliary volunteer at the San Angelo Community Medical Center. Mavis Hughes is survived by her daughter Vicki Jefferies & her husband Greg, her son Randy & wife Belinda; grandchildren Carrie Ledet, Leigh Paille, Kelley Hughes, Randye Dunlap, Andrew Hughes (Hope),John Jefferies, and James Jefferies. Also great grandchildren Jarrett Hill, Clayton Hill, Michael Hughes Guillen, Trey Baker, Preston Hughes, and Luke Ledet. A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at Johnson's Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at First Baptist Church, San Angelo (corner of Harris & Oakes). Pallbearers will be James Jefferies, Andrew Hughes, Jarrett Hill, Clayton Hill, Michael Hughes Guillen, Trey Baker, Preston Hughes, Luke Ledet, and John Jefferies. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that contribution in honor of Mavis Hughes be directed to: Meals for the Elderly, 310 E. Houston Harte Expressway, San Angelo, TX 76903.

Elaine Guzman Hernandez

Elaine Guzman Hernandez, 74, from San Angelo, TX, passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at Cedar Manor Nursing Home. 

Rosary will be held at 7pm on Monday, July 4, 2016 at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel.

Mass will be held at 10am on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at St. Marys Catholic Church with Father Joey Faylona, officiating. Burial will follow in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Elaine was born to Prudencio H Guzman and Maria Castaneda Guzman on November 11, 1941 in Wall, TX. She had been married to Julian Hernandez for 16 years of her life and they both continued to support each other over the years. Elaine was a woman of faith and believed in the power of prayer. When situations seemed impossible, she was always provided with what was needed and came out on top. She was a very strong-willed woman, even until the very end. Elaine loved to spend time with her family. Her favorite things were collecting cookie jars, playing Mexican bingo and cooking for everyone. No one went hungry in her house and she always gave the last of anything she had. She was also the all-time babysitter for her many grandchildren. 

Elaine is preceded in death by her parents Prudencio and Maria, her sisters Janelle Guzman Luna, Julia Guzman Espinosa and Irene Guzman Carrillo, and her brothers, Prudencio ‘Pete’ Guzman and Robert ‘Bobby’ Guzman. 

She is survived by her children, Maxine Hernandez Cadena and husband Hector, Linda Hernandez, Julian Hernandez and Teddy Hernandez and wife, Shelly, her sisters, Norma Martinez and husband Frank, Teresa Flores and husband Edward, her brothers, Arnold ‘Red’ Guzman and wife Virginia of Bronte and Frank Guzman and wife Florence, 19 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

A special thank you to the staff at Cedar Manor Nursing Home for providing the compassionate care to Elaine over the past month and who have become like family.
