Kendall Bond

William Kendall Bond, 83, passed away September 16, 2016.
Kendall was born March 7, 1933 and grew up in De Leon, TX. He attended Texas Wesleyan University and studied theology. He pastored in Odessa, where he and Lillie met. They married and moved to El Paso and lived there for 45 years, where Kendall was a home builder. Upon retirement, they moved to San Angelo.
Kendall is preceded in death by his spouse Lillie Bond, parents Richard and Lorene Bond, brother Marlin Bond, and a sister Alma Jo Eggleston.
Kendall is survived by two children: Tammy Kleine and her husband Rick, Kevin Kendall Bond and his wife Lisa, six grandchildren Ryan Kleine, Trevor Kleine and his wife Daisy, Kendra Graves and her husband Austin, Breanna Key and her husband Donovan, Arielle Bond and Kyle Bond.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to House of Faith or Hospice of San Angelo.
A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church at 10:30 AM Tuesday, September 20, 2016.

Pedro C. Flores

Pedro C. Flores, 82, of Christoval went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 in San Angelo surrounded by his loving family. Pedro was born June 29, 1934 in Allende, Coahuila, Mexico. He married the love of his life Natividad Montelongo on March 7, 1969 and they shared 36 beautiful years together before she preceded him in death in 2005. Pedro was a certified nurse’s assistant at Golden Years Nursing Home in Christoval for over 30 years. He was always very proud of his profession and enjoyed caring for the residents at Golden Years. Pedro was also a loving husband, father and grandfather who devoted his life to his family and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He always had a smile on his face and had a great sense of humor. He loved joking with everyone and also watching Texas Rangers Baseball and the Cleveland Cavaliers play basketball. In his later years, he enjoyed learning how to text on his phone and navigate an iPad so he could keep up with the latest technology and with his family and friends. Pedro’s love and legacy will live on in our hearts forever and we will dearly miss him! He was preceded in death by his father, Daniel and his wife, Natividad. Pedro is survived by his daughters, Marisela Hofacker and her husband Carl, of San Angelo, and Norma Flores, of San Antonio; his Grandchildren, DeAna Bailey and her husband Joshua, of San Angelo, Lexi Hofacker and Ryan San Miguel, of San Angelo, Myleena Flores and Preston Arteaga, of San Antonio and Easton Flores, of San Angelo; his Great Granddaughters, Jazlyn and Dalaynie Bailey, both of San Angelo; and a host of family and friends. The Graveside Service will be at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Ivy Cemetery in Christoval, Texas with Rev. Joseph Suitors officiating.

Ruby Lillian Smithwick

Ruby Lillian Smithwick of Miles, Texas returned to her heavenly Father the morning of September 12, 2016, at the age of 92.

A visitation and funeral service celebrating Ruby’s life will be held Friday, September 16, 2016, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Miles, Texas. Visitation with the family is from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Pastor Diane Eggemeyer officiating. Interment will follow directly after the service in the Miles Cemetery.

Ruby was born September 16, 1923 to Minerva Pruitt Roach and Johnnie Roach of Miles, Texas. She graduated from Miles High School May 21, 1943. In 1946 Ruby married Les Smithwick. They spent over 59 years together.

In 1951, Ruby joined the Standard-Times advertising department where she handled both classified and residential real estate placements. She enjoyed her years working in advertising and continued to do so until retirement. Ruby maintained her subscription to the Standard-Times through her last days. She also was an avid reader of the Miles Messenger which became one of the highlights of her week later in life.
Ruby had some special gifts. She had a heart for serving those in need. Ruby was a caregiver to all, most especially for her younger sister, Joyce Marie, who remained bedridden for 37 years. Ruby’s smile engaged everyone in the room. Her eyes were a light to her soul and inner beauty. Ruby was a kid magnet. She loved children and taught children’s Sunday school at the First Baptist Church in Miles for many years. Later in life, she joined her husband Les in attending Trinity Lutheran Church in Miles, where she served on the alter guild and church council. Ruby’s faith was strong. Ruby always reminded us that she had God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit with her so we didn’t need to worry.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, Minerva and Johnnie Roach; her husband, Les Smithwick; twin brother, Huby Roach; sister Joyce Marie Roach; nephew Gary Roach; and nephew Jerome Smithwick.

Ruby is survived by her nephew, Bill Roach; double cousins, Thora Morrow and Marsha Gainer and family; nieces Billie Smithwick and Lori Smithwick; nephew Kyle Smithwick and family; and a special friend, Juan Ornelas.

Pallbearers for the service will be Daniel Gainer Sr., Daniel Gainer Jr., Jamie Smart, Kolby Yonkers, Kyle Smithwick, and Juan Ornelas.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 265, Miles, Texas 76861, the Miles Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 66, Miles, Texas 76861, or a charity of your choice.

Richard James "Dick" Burnett

Richard "Dick" James Burnett, 94, passed away Saturday, September 17, 2016.

Born to the late Rollo Burnett and Margaret (Molony) Burnett on January 15, 1922 in Toledo, OH, Dick lived a life of service to his country and community. He graduated from Toledo Central Catholic High School in 1940 and attended Toledo University until 1943 when he enlisted in the US Army Air Forces. Following primary pilot training at Curtis Field in Brady, TX, he attended basic pilot training at Goodfellow AFB. He received his wings at Moore Field, TX and was assigned to the 310th Fighter Squadron, serving as a P-47 “Thunderbolt” pilot in the Southwest Pacific Theater. He returned state side and received an honorable discharge in 1945.

On September 6, 1947, Dick married Margery “Midge” Hurt in Toledo, OH. They had three sons and shared 41 wonderful years together before Midge's death in 1989.

Dick completed his business degree at Toledo University in 1947 and began a 30-year career in the FBI with assignments in New York, Toledo, Tucson, and Puerto Rico. Assignment to the JFK Assassination investigation took him to Dallas in 1964 and in 1965, he arrived in San Angelo for his final assignment.
In 1978, Dick retired from the FBI and the city of San Angelo elected him Chief of Police, serving from 1978 until 1980 when he was elected to the Texas House of Representatives, serving four terms before retiring in 1989. In the House, he served as the Chairman of the Retirement and Aging Committee and served 8 years on the Criminal Jurisprudence Committee.

In retirement, Dick continued to serve his community as President of Adult Daycare, the Community Justice Council, Crime Stoppers, Family Shelter, and the Retired Volunteer Program. He also served as the Director of the Tom Green County Tax Appraisal Board, the Public Responsibility Committee, and the United Way of Tom Green County.

Dick always enjoyed the many friends who told him, "Dick, you're the only Democrat that I ever voted for!"

In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his wife, Midge; brother, John; and sisters, Margaret, Mary Dixon (twin sister), and Jane Flis.

He is survived by his sons, William (Pamela) of Austin, Thomas, and John of San Angelo; four grandchildren, Michael (Ella) Burnett of San Angelo, Catherine Burnett (Stephen) Fierbaugh of Cedar Hill, and Macary and Macy Burnett of San Angelo; and three great grandchildren, Conner and Julianne Burnett and Ezra Fierbaugh.

Viewing will be 10:00am to 8:00pm on Wednesday and 8:00am to 8:00pm on Thursday with family present to greet friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 2:00pm Friday September 23, 2016 at Holy Angels Catholic Church with, Rev. Charles Greenwell and Rev. Denise Bloomquist officiating. Interment will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home. 

Pall Bearers will be Dr. Denver Marsh, Dr. Ed Olson, Fred Key, Gerald Fohn, Court Soloff, Mike Patton, Dick Robertson, and Joe Fields. 

Honorary Pall Bearers are Col. Charles Powell, Dr. Tom Camfield, Hon. Robert "Rob" Junell, Louis Fohn, Jerry Soto, and Jimmy Coppedge.

The family wishes to express special thanks to Dr. Denver Marsh for 38 years of medical care to both Dick and Midge. Special thanks also to the dedicated staff at Senior Care of San Angelo and their Rehab Department for their devotion to Dick's well-being this past year.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as a memorial donation to the charity of your choice.

Charlie Rodriquez Asebedo

Charlie Rodriquez Asebedo, 55, of San Angelo, passed away on September 17, 2016 at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer. 

Charlie was born on September 4, 1961 to Manuel and Inosencia (Rodriquez) Asebedo in San Angelo. On December 9, 1994, he married Traci Copeland in San Angelo. Charlie worked as an event coordinator for the City of San Angelo. He was a very competitive golfer and enjoyed riding his motorcycle with friends and family on road trips. Charlie was an avid griller and found great pleasure being by the grill. He enjoyed all the great memories made with friends. Above all else, he loved his family.

He was preceded in death by parents, Manuel and Inosencia “Ginger” Asebedo, sister, Nellie Burkette, brothers, Candy Asebedo and Manuel Asebedo, Jr.

Charlie is survived by his loving spouse of 21 years, Traci, two sons, Jason and Adam; four daughters, Amber, Ginger, Samantha and Emily, sister, Mary Lou Ortegon and brother, George all of San Angelo; six grandchildren; Daniel, Gabriel, Yvette, Faith, Jayden and Hal along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 20, 2016, 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2016, 10:00 am at the McNease Convention Center under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

I have fought the good fight,
I have finished the race,
I have kept the faith.
Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness,
which the Lord, the righteous Judge,
will award to me on that day-and not only to me,
but also to all who have longed for his appearing.
2 Timothy 4:7-8

Cecilia Leona Bennett Alle

Cecilia Leona Bennett Allen, 67, of San Angelo, passed away at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, September 11, 2016 after a short battle with cancer.
Cecilia was born January 9, 1949, in Decatur, Ill., to Dean W. and Yvonne L. Bennett. She had been a resident of San Angelo since 1950. 
Cecilia was a 1967 graduate of San Angelo Central High School. She married the love-of-her-life, Robert Roy Allen on July 11, 1969, and they lived happily together until this day. She worked for GTE in their Record/Archives department where she met and kept many wonderful friends. She later worked for the law firm of Smith, Rose, Finley, Harp, & Price before she transferred to the law firm of Carter, Boyd, Lisson & Hohensee, P.C. She was such an intelligent, knowledgeable and dedicated employee. During her time with all her jobs, she made life-long friends who were like family to her. She was excited about retiring and was ready to begin enjoying her free time. 
Cecilia had the ability to touch people in a positive way with her sunny, caring disposition, and all out can-do attitude. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend. She had the most generous, loving heart, a cheerful spirit, and touched many lives with her presence. Everyone who knew Cecilia will remember her love for the fall season, her love of fall colors, her love to decorate for all holidays, and her open heart as she celebrated holidays with family and friends. She was an avid gardener and skilled seamstress, who also enjoyed finding new recipes and loved to cook. She was the core of our family, our rock, our strength, and we will miss her dearly. 
Survivors include her husband, Robert Allen of San Angelo; a daughter, Amber Allen and wife Roxanne of San Angelo; a son, Kevin Allen and partner Arianna of San Angelo; two brothers, Gordon Bennett and wife Carol, Karl Bennett and wife Carla; four sisters, Betty Bennett Nelms, Anne San Miguel and husband Manuel, Mary Lynn Nelms and husband Mickey, Donna Behringer and husband Jim, all of San Angelo; three brother-in-laws, Louis Watson and wife Pat, Weldon Allen and wife Cathy, Stacy Allen and wife Melody; one sister-in-law, Barbara Euler; 3 grandchildren, Ariyana, Aydin, and Sofia; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. 
A Celebration of Life Memorial Mass will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Holy Angels Catholic Church with Father Charles Greenwell as celebrant. Inurnment will follow at Holy Angels Columbarium at Holy Angels Catholic Church. 
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Wallace Richard Bost

Wallace passed into Heaven on Saturday, September 10, 2016.
Wallace was born on January 26, 1938 in Abilene, TX.
Mr. Bost was preceded in death by his father “Red” Bost, his mother Hortense and sister Linda Bost.
Mr. Bost is survived by his wife of 33 years Barbara, his daughters Kali, Erin and sons Aric, Ian and Shane and many grandchildren.
Wallace was an English Professor at ASU for 30 years and never knew a student that didn’t like him! He loved golf and reading the Bible. He loved his rescue dogs and the family ask in lieu of flowers and gifts donations be made to any dog rescue you chose.

Charles Gene Hegwood

Charles Gene Hegwood was born on December 12, 1929 in Ajo, Arizona to Charles “Monk” & Maude “Nannie” (McMillian) Hegwood. 

He went to live in the House of the Lord on the 12th of September 2016.

Gene attended part of his elementary years at the Arden, Texas schoolhouse, and then Mertzon schools through his freshman year. After two years at LakeView High School in San Angelo he returned to Mertzon and graduated in May 1948. While in school he was involved in all sports, but it was golf that stole his heart. He continued to be an avid golfer throughout his adult life.

Gene was married to Betty Sue Moore on November 11, 1961 in San Angelo, Texas. She preceded him in death on May 19, 2000. On June 14, 2003 he married his high school sweetheart Cleta Smith Timmons. They were married until her death on July 11, 2015.

Gene enlisted in the U.S. Navy on September 2, 1948. His recruit training was at San Diego, California. Shortly afterwards he boarded the USS Curtiss at Long Beach California where he spent the next 6 years. While on board the USS Curtiss, trips were made to Japan, China, Alaska and Pearl Harbor. In October 1954 he was ordered to Clarksville Base. While there he was advanced to BM2. In July 1958 he was transferred to the USS Shangri-LA. In May 1960 Chief Hegwood reported to Yorktown, Virginia. GMTC Hegwood was advanced to Chief Petty Officer on May 16, 1962. In February 1963, he was ordered to Cubi Point in the Philippines.

Chief Hegwood was awarded the Navy Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal (1st through 6th awards), Navy Occupation Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal (1st and 2nd awards), United Nations Service Medal and the Expert Pistol Shot Medal.

After his retirement on September 13, 1968 Chief Hegwood transferred to the Fleet Reserves where he served for 10 years. Upon his return to San Angelo he was employed by Pool Company and then San Angelo Independent School District as Air Conditioning Maintenance Supervisor for 2 years. He then became Ranch Manager for the Pulliam Ranch for 20 years.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wives, grandparents, aunts and uncles; and a brother Dale Hegwood.

He is survived by his sister LouDell Mayfield and husband John of San Angelo, son Mike Hegwood of San Angelo, daughter Missy Stephens and husband Glenn of Driftwood, step-daughter Judy Smith and husband Charlie of San Angelo, step-son Tommy Bryant and wife Darlene of San Angelo, grandson Jonathan Hegwood of Olympia, WA, grandson Jacob Hegwood and wife Arianna Martinez of San Angelo; grand-daughter DeAnna Higdon Smith and husband Joe of Ft. Worth, grandson James Higdon of Ft. Worth, grand-daughter Tasha Glasscock and husband Mike of Leander, TX, grand-daughter Cherish Whaley and husband Aaron of Cedar Park, grand-daughter Shay Lynn Fewell and husband Caleb of Midland, great-grandchildren, Ryan Hegwood, Esmay Hegwood, Kadri Pena, Blake Higdon, Cole Smith, JD Smith, Hunter Holiedy, Kayleigh Holiedy, Gracie Glasscock, Conner Holcroft, and Faithlynn Fewell. 

Family extends a special thanks to New Haven Assisted Living and Kindred Hospice in San Angelo for their tender loving care.

The family requests that memorials be made to Wounded Warriors Project or the charity of your choice.

Family Visitation will be 5:00pm to 7:00pm Wednesday September 14, 2016 at Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be 2:00pm Thursday September 15, 2016 at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at Mt. Evergreen Cemetery located in Pecos, Texas under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Gary is survived by Nephew, Greg Rowe of San Angelo, and an Aunt, Dwyn Schnack of Charlotte, NC
