Robert "Bobby" Johnson

Robert L. “Bobby” Johnson, 84, of San Angelo went to be with his heavenly father on Sunday, March 19, 2017 in San Angelo. Bobby was born June 26, 1932 in San Angelo, Texas to Albert Louis and Helen Florence Craddock Johnson. He grew up in San Angelo and graduated from San Angelo High School. Bobby went to work for Western Union as a delivery person at a young age, making thousands of deliveries via bicycle for 19 ½ years. Because he was very clever with math and numbers, he changed professions… when he was asked to work for Maverick Oil as a bookkeeper. He worked there for many years until it became Sherwood Oil Company, and remained with them until their closing. He then was asked to work for West Texas Gas and worked there until his retirement. Bobby married Margaret“Peggy” Zachry on December 27, 1980 and they shared 36 beautiful years together.
He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother who devoted his life to his family. He was a true example of love, kindness, faithfulness and trust to all who knew him. Bobby was a devout member of Holy Angels Catholic Church and a member of HALO at Holy Angels. He was also affiliated with the Boy Scouts of America, having an active troop at one time. In his spare time, Bobby loved fishing, riding motorcycles and dirt bikes, traveling and being musically inclined. He loved playing the drums and the viola. His legacy of love will live on in our hearts forever and he will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him. Bobby was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret “Peggy” Johnson, of San Angelo; his Daughter, Debbie Kelley and her husband Larry, of San Angelo; his Grandchildren, Kevin Kelley and his fiancée, Sierra Horn, and Stacy Kelley and his wife, Becca, all of San Angelo; his Great Grandchildren, Autumn, Patrick, Hayden, John and Paisley; his Brother, Jerry Johnson and his wife Kathy, of San Angelo; and his Sister, Kathy Fouche. The Rosary will be 6:00 P.M., Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Holy Angels Catholic Church. The Funeral Mass will be 10:00 A.M., Friday, March 24, 2017 at Holy Angels Catholic Church with Rev. Charles Greenwell as celebrant. The Interment will follow at 3:00 P.M., Friday, March 24, 2017 at the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sweetwater, Texas. Pallbearers for the service will be Kevin Kelley, Stacy Kelley, Larry Kelley, Travis McDermott and Daniel Huber. The family requests that donations be made to the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, www.tsrhc.org.

Tomasa Segura de Garcia

Tomasa Segura de Garcia, 84, homemaker, of Big Lake, passed away on Monday, March 20, 2017. She was born to the late, Mauricio and Petra Carrillo Segura on Thursday, September 22, 1932 in Zacatecas, Mexico. Tomasa married Gil Antonio Garcia on October 18, 1948 in Mexico. She was a lady with a strong will and great faith. She enjoyed spending time gardening, cooking and sewing. Tomasa's loving nature will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved her. She is preceded in death by her parents; sons, Ascension Garcia and Javier Garcia; and brother, Juan Segura. 
Survivors include her husband, Gil Antonio Garcia; children, Rosario Villarreal, Gustavo Garcia, Antonio Garcia, Lupe Garcia, Juan Garcia, Martha Contreras, and Salvador Garcia; 23 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. 
A time of visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at the Apostolic Assembly of the Faith in Christ Jesus Church, Big Lake. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM in the church on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 with Pastor Jesus Soliz officiating. Interment will follow in the Glen Rest Cemetery with grandsons serving as pallbearers. Mary Esther Hankins

Mary Esther Hankins ("The Beloved") was born January 17, 1937 to Luther and Bennie Pearl Alexander in East Palatka, FL. On March 17, 2017 Mary of San Angelo, Texas, finished her course in faith, and has now transferred her membership from the Church Militant to the Church Triumphant. With a smile on her face, she is now back home with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and reunited with her daughter, Doreen, her parents Luther and Bennie Pearl Alexander and brother Kerry who preceded her in death.

At a very early age, she professed Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, and always believed that she could help anyone in need. Mary was a 1954 graduate of Central Academy High School, in Palatka, FL. She attended Edward Waters College in Jacksonville, FL and later served her country in the U.S. Army. On March 1974, she received her Certificate from Parish-Draughon"s College, in San Antonio, TX.

On December 22, 1956, she married her high school sweetheart, Nathaniel, and it was a marriage that lasted 60 years. During those years, while Nathaniel was in the Air Force, they lived in Hampton VA, Riverside CA, San Angelo, San Antonio, Crete Greece, Darmstadt Germany, Wakkanai Japan and Clark AFB Philippines.

Mary was one of the founding members that formed the Daily Bread Soup Kitchen to feed the hungry, in 1984. Hence, her true passion was her role as director of the The Daily Soup Kitchen for many years. She truly enjoyed trying to help those in need! For five years, she was a member of the Norwest Bank Community Advisory Board and served over five years as member of RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program) Board. She was also a member of the Concerned Citizens Organization of San Angelo (CCOSA), and a member of SALT (San Angelo Living Together).

Mary was a charter member of the Le Coterie Society, which started in 1983 and served three terms as President, as well as a member till 2001. Mary was a past Board member of the Concho Valley Regional Food Bank, Healthy Families of San Angelo, and the San Angelo Day Nursery. At the Southwest Texas Conference of the United Methodist Churches, she was Chairperson of the Religion and Race Committee, Secretary for Council on Ministries Board, a member of Priority Funding Committee, and a Delegate to Jurisdictional Conference in Dallas.

In 1990, she was awarded the NAACP Outstanding Community Service Award. In 1992, Mary was awarded the UMM "Doer" Award. In 1993 she was awarded the SWTC, Charles T. Hardt Peace with Justice Award. Also in 1998 Bishop Ray Owen awarded her the Bishop's Exemplar Award for the San Angelo District.

Also in 1998, when her husband was appointed to St. Peters United Methodist Church in Corpus Christi, TX, she was the Director of the Timons Ministry. There she was responsible for a quarter of a million dollars renovation and rehab of the ministry into its new location. It is a ministry that is still going strong today! And in 2007 the Girl Scouts awarded Mary as a Woman of Distinction. On January 21, 2014, Mary and Hank were awarded the "Citizens of the of the Year" for 2013 by the San Angelo Chamber of Commerce. Most of all, she is thankful that she was able to serve God during her lifetime.

To cherish her memories are her husband Rev. Nathaniel "Hank" Hankins, son, Darryl (Glennis), grandchildren: Chaveaus, Darrion, Matt and Taryn. Sister Deborah Williams; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Good friend Ethel Johnson, God Daughter Ramona Curtis and all her church member.

A Visitation will be held from 6:00- 8:00 PM on Friday, March 24, 2017 at Harper Funeral Home. The Funeral Service is 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at First United Methodist Church with burial to follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.

Larry A. Behrens

Larry A. Behrens, of San Angelo, passed away suddenly early Saturday, March 18, 2017 one day short of his 76th birthday.
He was a beloved husband, an adored PawPaw, a loved and respected Father, and cherished brother. He was an example of trust, faithfulness, kindness, love and integrity. His greatest pleasures were his grandchildren, his Church, his Thursday lunch group, and treasured lifelong friends and business associates.
He was born in a wooden frame home in San Saba, Texas on March 19, 1941 to Arnold H. Behrens and Kathlyn Busby Behrens. He grew up in San Saba, graduating from high school, where he made many lifelong friends.
He graduated from Southwest Texas State College in 1964, and began a teaching career in Sonora, Texas, then moving to San Angelo and teaching at Central High School. Still young, he changed course and moved to Austin where he worked for TXDOT. In 1973 he returned to San Angelo where he began to work for JHRussell &Son. There he found his true calling as a Ranch Broker and Appraiser, opening his own office in 1981. At the time of his death, he was still actively working along with his son at Behrens Ranch Sales where he leaves a legacy of honesty and integrity that he passed along to his son through his endless example. He represented many prominent ranching families that he was proud to call clients and friends.
He served on the District Methodist Church Parsonage Board for many years. In addition, he had served as an usher and on the Building Committee at Sierra Vista United Methodist. He had been a Board member of the San Angelo Realtors Association, receiving a 40 year Realtor member recognition award in 2014. He was a dedicated steward of the land, practicing conservation methods on the place that the family owns.
He is survived by his wife of forty years, Carmen, his son Blake and wife, Dana; his step children, Kelley Byrd and wife, Stacy, of San Antonio, Kortney Bailey and husband, Kyle; grandchildren Kassidy Tanner (Ashton Braddock), Tyler Tanner, Tripp Bailey, Pierce Behrens, Peyton Behrens, and River Braddock (great grandson), all of San Angelo, his sister, Kay Hilburn (Dawn and Reg) of Stephenville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his maternal grandparents, his two special Aunts Frances Moore and Alma Van Saal. 
Pallbearers will be, Charley Christensen, Chip Cole, Marvin Hall, Tom Lee, James Maedgen, and John Morris.
Honorary Pallbearers will be, Carter Behrens, Jerry Curry, Steve Eustis, Larry Garvin, Dr. Tom Jeter, Rudy Menchaca, Kenny Sanders, Jerry Sefcik, and Larry Walker.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday March 20th at Harper Funeral Home in San Angelo.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at Sierra Vista United Methodist Church with burial to follow at Fairmount Cemetery. 
Donations may be made to Sierra Vista United Methodist, West Texas Rehab of San Angelo, or a charity of your choice.

Lee Roy Motl

Lee Roy Motl, Beloved Husband, Dad, Grandpa and Papaw went to be with His Lord & Savior on March 16, 2017 surrounded by His Loving Family. He was born June 14, 1929 to Henry & Lottie Motl in San Angelo, TX.
Growing up on their farm he learned hard work at an early age. He served in the US Air Force for 20 Years, retiring in 1972 and then went to work at Goodyear Proving Grounds and retired in 1987. 
Lee Roy was an avid fisherman, hunter, trapper and snake hunter. He loved gardening, traveling and camping out with family and friends. A member of Harris Ave Baptist Church for many years, he had a strong faith and was a good Christian man. 
Preceding him in death was two Sisters, Josephine Brown and Bonnie Johnson, one brother, Ellis Motl, a son, Johnny Kleypas, a daughter, Karla Adams and two great grandchildren, Kye and Abby. 
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Doris, two daughters, Susan Knight and Debbie Tomerlin (Toot), two sons, Les Motl and Craig Kleypas (Debbie), sisters- in-law, Mary Motl, and Garlene Hawkins (Harvey); twelve grandchildren, James Knight, Wesley Knight, Clayton Motl, Lindsey Motl, Mandi Garcia (Joe), Amber Almedia (Antone), Erika Weidner (Kevin), Brittany Stober (Steven), Kevin Kleypas (Tamra), Kaela Smith (Dustin), Derek Higgins and Heather Rain (Uriah), 22 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, friends and a fur baby, Sam. 
The Funeral Service will be 10:30 A.M., Monday, March 20, 2017 at The First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Bill Proctor officiating. Interment will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and grandsons- in-law. Honorary pallbearers are James Knight, Wesley Knight and Goodyear Retirees. 
The Family would like to express our sincere appreciation to Dr. Ty Hughston, Staff of Skilled Nursing at St John’s Campus, Kindred Hospice and three Special Ladies, Darlene Williams, Michele MacDougall, and Cayla Schwartz for their excellent care during this difficult time. 
In lieu of Flowers, Memorials may be made to Kindred Hospice or Charity of your choice.

Mother Annabelle "Nanny" Ballard

Mother Anna Belle Ballard, often called Mama, Mother Ballard, Nannie Annie, Prayer Warrior and Miss Annie Belle, journeyed to the Lord Jesus Christ on March 3, 2017. Her life was well lived in the light of Jesus Christ. She was born on November 18, 1927 to Harry Hannibal Haywood and Lorena Belle (Dimery) Haywood in Del Rio, Texas. Around the age 2, the family relocated to San Angelo, Texas, where Anna Belle attended Blackshear School and upon graduation received a Christian Scholarship to attend Mary Allen Collage in Crockett, Texas. She accepted Christ as her Savior at 9 years of age. She joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. W. D. Davis, and later years united with Bible Way Ministries, where she served for more than 20 years, and had the honor of being named the "Church Mother". She married Rev. Seth Thomas and to that union Sally and John Earl Thomas were born. As life continued, she later married John Henry Ballard and to that union Michael Anthony; Vavette Michelle, and Angela Rose were born. She was preceded in death by 2 children. Anna Belle lived on her own until her final illness in December 2016. Her life was rich and impacting to many and she never met a stranger. In November 2016, she vision honoring her family and the community by hosting two highly spirited musical programs bringing many to sing and praise God with her. Although Bible Way Ministries would have been celebrating her birthday, she preferred to celebrate others because she had a blessed life. Mother Ballard loved reading (especially her Bible), praying, gardening, sewing, quilting, helping others and bringing lost souls to Christ. At the time of life's transition, she was completing a beautiful quilt. Until well in her later years, she volunteered as a Senior Companion for elderly patients. She was a faithful member at her church and was a member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People - Unit 6219, in San Angelo, Texas. She received Missionary License from Bible Way Ministries, Citizen of Year Award from The LeCorterie Society, Unsung Hero from St Paul Presbyterian Church and other awards. Her joy was serving others and praying to the Lord for strength and mercy. Her family lineage is connected to the Seminole Negro Indian Scouts in Brackettville, TX and her body will be laid to rest at the Seminole Negro Indian Scouts Cemetery. Her husband, parents, and brother Joe Haywood preceded her in death. She is survived by her 5 children Sally Ayana; John Earl Thomas; Michael Anthony Ballard; Vavette Michelle Ballard and Angela Rose Haywood; 15 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Rose Mary Scott; Frances Faye Sykes; 2 brothers, Harry Haywood II and Charles Haywood SR.

Meregildo Canales

Meregildo Canales, 85, of San Angelo, passed away Monday, March 6, 2017 in San Angelo. He was born to the late, Domacio and Reinolda Flores Canales on April 13, 1931 in Marlin, Texas. Meregildo entered into the state care at the age of 23. Although he was unable to speak, he communicated well with those around him. He enjoyed music, outings, eating, playing catch, and watching TV. Meregildo got great joy from playing his own version of the game, Connect Four. He was a man of routine and would quickly let others know if they disturbed his routine or his baseball cap. Meregildo will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two older brothers. 
Survivors include his caregiving family, Juan and Cissy Luna, Lauren Beatty, Aaron Beatty, and Olivia Luna; friend, Corinna; longtime friend, Joe; guardians, Elva Sanchez and Sylvia Eastman; longtime Service Coordinator, Judy Smith; MHMR Dayhab Service Provider, Angela Graves; as well as all of the staff of MHMR and D&S Residential Services. 
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 in the Johnson's Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.

Richard E. "Dick" Hall

Richard E. "Dick" Hall, 65, of Ozona, passed away on Friday, February 24, 2017 in San Angelo. He was born to the late, Loy and Lottie Cook Hall on December 3, 1951 in Bristow, Oklahoma. He worked in the oilfield industry for a number of years, having retired almost 8 years ago. Dick was a man of few words, so when he spoke everyone listened. His "take it easy" and laid back spirit left a lasting impact on those around him. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends as well as fishing in his spare time. He will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him. Dick was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings. 

Survivors include his three children, Isaac Hall, Heather Richardson, and Juli Hall; grandchildren, Mike, Matt, Dillon, Fisher, Gwen and Fletcher; six siblings; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. 

A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 11, 2017 in the Oakdale Cemetery, Depew, Oklahoma. A BBQ will be held at noon on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Pandale Crossing in Ozona. Family and friends are encouraged to share memories and sign the online guestbook at www.johnsons-funeralhome.com. Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson's Funeral Home of San Angelo.

Hadlee Anne Holik

Hadlee Anne Holik, of Wall, TX, went to the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, March 14, 2017. 

Hadlee was born to Jason and Shyanne Holik on November 2, 2015. She favored her siblings, had the prettiest dark brown eyes, and was nicknamed “Angel Baby” by her daddy. Hadlee fought a short but brave battle against Atypical Teratoid Rhabdoid Tumor, known as AT/RT brain cancer. She displayed a strong, fighting spirit even to the end. Her favorite place to be was at home playing with her siblings.

She is survived by her parents and siblings, Kylee, Jaxon, and Maggie of Wall; paternal grandparents Ruben and Rhonda Holik of Wall; maternal grandparents Brian and Rhonda Halfmann of Wall; paternal great-grandmother Margaret Dailey of San Angelo; and maternal great-grandmother Geraldine Halfmann of Wall.

She is also survived by aunts and uncles, Josh and Melissa Holik of Wall, Haley Holik of Austin, and Duane and Brianne Killam of Wall; cousins, Jude and Lyla Holik, and Addisyn, Karter, and Lexi Killam, all of Wall; as well as numerous great aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Hadlee is preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Stanley Sr. and Ruby Holik, W.C. and Pauline Ruffin, Alex Halfmann, and Roger Dailey, along with her great-uncle Franklin Holik Sr., and cousins Jack and Julie Burleson.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 17, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Glen Meadows Baptist Church.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Harper Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be her uncles, Josh Holik, and Duane Killam.

The family would like to offer a statement of deep gratitude to the following: Dr. Bowers at Dallas Children’s Hospital, Hospice of San Angelo, especially Holly, Amber, Amy, and to the community for their continual support.
