Gary Alexander

Gary Ray Alexander, 58 of Miles, Texas went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 29, 2016 in San Angelo. Gary was born July 21, 1958 in Tucson, Arizona to Kenneth and Charlotte Underwood Alexander. As the youth of a military family, he lived all over the country, but most of his childhood was spent with his Grandparents in Brady, Texas. He met and married the love of his life, Janice Redman on May 28, 1977 and they spent 39 beautiful years together. Gary attended St. Paul School of Theology and graduated in 1998. He was a great man of faith and ministered various churches within the Methodist Conference for many years. Gary was a loving husband, father and grandfather, who took great pride in watching his sons play sports while they were growing up. Later he enjoyed watching his sons coach various sports for their school where they were teaching and coaching and always asked the outcome of every game each week. He devoted his life to his family and always enjoyed being with his family. In his spare time, he loved fishing and working with his hands, being a great craftsman, collecting windmill art, talking sports with his sons and shopping online. Gary was very giving in nature and loved being of service to others. He gave of his time effortlessly and with great passion. He became a Precinct 9 Judge for Runnels County Elections, was a 32-degree Mason, a member of the Scottish Rite, a member of the Concho Suez Shriner’s Club, where he was a Ring Candidate in 1980 and won it, and a past worthy Patron for The Order of the Eastern Star in Brady, TX. Gary was also a very strong supporter of Emmaus and worked numerous Chrysalis events and Walk’s to Emmaus. There was never a dull moment around Gary, he was always so full of life. His tremendous love and passion for his family and others will remain in our hearts forever! He is survived by his loving wife, Janice Alexander, of Miles, TX; his Sons, Robbie Alexander and his wife Hope, of Kerrville, TX., and Jared Alexander and his wife Jordan, of Royse City, TX; his 2 Grandsons, Sutton Alexander, of Kerrville, TX., and Sagan Alexander, of Royse City, TX; his Mother, Charlotte Underwood, of San Angelo; his Father, Kenneth Alexander, of Abilene, TX; his Mother and Father-in-law, Daniel and LaVerne Redman, of Miles; his Brother, Dwayne Alexander, of Abilene, TX; his Sister, Dana Larson and her husband, Larry “Skip” Larson, of San Angelo; Numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of Pastor friends in the Southwest Texas Annual Conference of United Methodist Church. Pallbearers for the service will be nephews Justin Hoelscher and Hunter Redman, Zack Cook, Larry Ray, Larry "Skip" Larson and Donnie Bynum. The Funeral Service will be 2:00 P.M., Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Miles United Methodist Church with Rev. Gary Karschner officiating. Interment will follow at Miles Cemetery in Miles, Texas. Donations may be made to the Miles United Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 205, Miles, Texas 76861, or a favorite charity.

Brenda Gay Sones

Brenda Gay McVay Sones, 59, passed away Friday, September 23, 2016.
Brenda was born on November 21, 1956 to Ben and Barbara in Big Spring, Texas. The family moved to Bay City where Brenda attended high school. After high school she would try for a nursing degree before finally settling into Home Health Care. 

Brenda is survived by her sister Tonya Freeman and husband David, numerous surviving cousins in the Hairrell Family living across Texas and Louisiana, along with many friends she has made here in San Angelo. 

Family and friends are invited to attend a gathering at Henry’s Diner Friday, September 30 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM. A memorial service will be held with her friends at a later date.

Lucinda DeLaGarza Martinez

Lucinda DeLaGarza Martinez, 77, of Mereta, was called to her eternal home Tuesday, September 27th, 2016.
Rosary service will be held at 7:00pm on Friday, September 30, 2016 at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Wall, TX with Father Joseph Choutapalli officiating. Burial will follow in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.
Lucinda was born February 21, 1939, in Eden, to Manuel and Susana DeLaGarza.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Christine Garza, grandchildren, Cody Beard, Monica Martinez, Tracy Martinez, brother in laws, Jimmy Garcia, Hamp Norton, and nephew, Frankie Garza.
Lucinda is survived by her beloved husband of 51 years, Noe L. Martinez, siblings, Mayo DeLaGarza and wife Sara, Erminia Garcia, Ermelinda Norton, all of Mereta, Cres DeLaGarza and wife Denise of Brazoria, TX, Her children, Rose Beard of Veribest, Bernardo Martinez and wife Wendy, Noemi Howard and husband Dennis, Manuel O. Martinez and wife Esmeralda, all of San Angelo. Step children, Noe T. Martinez and wife Kay, of Euless, Fernando Martinez and wife Lupe of San Angelo, Mario Martinez and wife Blanca of Laredo. Numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, whom she all loved dearly.
Lucinda was a hardworking, tough as nails, stubborn minded country woman. Working from the time she could, chopping and picking Cotton all the way up to Peacock, TX on back home to Mereta and on down to Georgetown, TX. She married, raised 4 children, when her youngest began preschool, she began working for the Wall ISD cafeteria around 1980, after 25 yrs she retired, however, substituted up until last school year, 2015. She also worked at the family owned business, Noe's Cafe in Mereta, 20 yrs, where the communities of Mereta, Wall, Veribest, Miles, Eola and Rowena all gathered.
Her interest included sewing, gardening, cooking, antiquing, garage sales, listening to her classic country and Spanish music, and serving and spending tons of time with her family, friends, and her cats, Smokey, Sabastion and Mia.
Lucinda was a lifetime parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church in Mereta, where she served as a member of the Choir. She also helped many years at the annual St. Ambrose/Holy Family Parish Fall Festival.
Lucinda will be dearly missed by all family and friends.
The family wishes to thank Regency House, Kindred Hospice, Encompass Home Health, Visiting Angels, Dr. Grant and staff, Dr. Alcocer, Dr. Stephen Coates and countless friends whom we regard as family.

Sadie Hejl Havlak

Sadie Hejl Havlak beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother went to be with the Lord on Sunday September 25, 2016 at the age of 93 in San Angelo. She was born June 25, 1923 in Taylor, Texas to Jim and Annie (Dusek) Hejl. She grew up in Taylor, Wall and Miles Texas. She married the love of her life, Philip Jacob Havlak on February 1, 1942. They enjoyed 63 years of marriage before Philip passed away May 2, 2007. They lived in El Paso, Rowena, Miles and San Angelo. Throughout her life she was a homemaker and when she was younger she enjoyed sewing and cooking and helped work the farm. She also enjoyed playing cards and games with her family. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Philip Havlak, son-in-law Francis A. Fischer, a great granddaughter Rebecca Alberts and sisters Annie Wanoreck, Elsie Moeller, Bertha Holubec and a brother Jerry Hejl. 

She is survived by four children and their spouses, Barbara Ann Fischer of Duncan Oklahoma, Roberta Ann Rottman and her husband Jeffrey, Jeanne Marie Alberts and her husband Jerry, and her son Randy Wayne Havlak, all of San Angelo. She also had four grandchildren Barnice (Cass) Agee of Duncan Oklahoma, Wayne (Amy) Fischer of Miles, Jacob (Laura) Alberts of Olfen, and Matthew (Christina) Rottman of San Antonio. She had thirteen great grandchildren, they are Tommy, Kaitlin, and Shane Agee, Sarah, Kyle and Travis Fischer, Landon, Kaitlyn, Braydon, Meagan, Nathan and Ashlyn Alberts, and Philip Jack Rottman. 

Surviving brothers and sisters are Ruby Bryant, Dorothy Harmon, Stanley Hejl, Mary Ann Harmon, Ervin Hejl and Lorene Snodgrass, all of San Angelo, and all of her numerous in-laws and nieces and nephews.

A Catholic Rosary will be held 7:00pm Wednesday September 28, 2016 at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel.

A Mass for Christian Burial will be held 10:00am Thursday September 29, 2016 at Cathedral of the Sacred Heart Church with Very Rev. Steven Hicks, officiating. Burial will follow at the Calvary Cemetery in San Angelo. 

Pallbearers will be Wayne Fischer, Jake Alberts, Matthew Rottman, Cass Agee, Dennis Havlak and : Jimmy Hejl.

The family would like to give special thanks to Regency House of San Angelo for their care of Sadie during the last few years, and Hospice of San Angelo for their care the last few weeks. The family requests that memorials may be made to Meals for the Elderly of San Angelo at 310 E Houston Harte Expy, San Angelo, TX 76903 or Hospice of San Angelo at 36 E Twohig Ave # 1100, San Angelo, TX 76903 .

Margaret Crawford

Margaret Crawford was born January 7, 1924 to Glen and Leta Crawford and grew up in Irion County.
Margaret was an outstanding student through school and graduated from Texas State College for Women in Denton, TX. Later she earned her Master’s degree in English from the University of Alabama. She subsequently taught English at Ft. Stockton High, Central High (San Angelo) and Wallace Junior College in Dothan, AL
She authored several short stories, 2 of which were published, one in the Toronto Star weekly and in a book of stories Alabama’s Prize winning short stories. She had many interest but had a real passion for Bridge. She was a duplicate player and earned 2 “Life Masters” in Bridge.
Margaret supported many charities as well as several conservative and patriotic groups.
Margaret was the great granddaughter of Richard Franklin Tankersley, widely recognized as this areas first permanent settler.
Margaret is survived by her Son Ben Steven Tepper and his wife Kathy Tepper; Grandchildren Max L Tepper III and Steven B. Tepper and wife Gabriella; and one great-grandchild Keeley Marie Bell.
Preceded in death by a son Max L. Tepper Jr.
A graveside service will be held at Fairmount Cemetery, at 10:30 AM., Monday, September 26, 2016.

Bud Rector

Bud Rector age 86 of San Angelo, TX went to be with His Savior on September 20, 2016, at a local hospital. He has joined his beloved wife of 63 years, Patti, who preceded him in 2015. 
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday September 24, 2016 at Holy Angels Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic cemetery; arrangements are by Harper Funeral Home. 
He is survived by his sister Joan Aye of Athena, OR and his marriage was blessed with two daughters, Sue Lamb of San Angelo, TX and Marilyn Davis of Austin, TX; three granddaughters, Kristin Peters and husband Jeff Peters, Lindsey Davis Todd of Austin, TX, Katie Davis of Austin, TX; four great grandsons, Hayden Peters and Liam Peters of San Angelo, TX, Tristin Todd and Tobias Todd of Austin, TX.
Bud enlisted in the military September 3, 1948. A few short years later he met and married the love of his life, Patti, in 1952 San Antonio, TX while they were both serving in the US Air Force. They spent the next 21 years traveling to several USAF locations in Azores Islands, Turkey, New York, Louisiana, Japan, and Texas, finally settling in San Angelo, TX 1968. 
The first 10 years of his military service Bud served as an Air Policeman where he began his proficiency with firearms. He competed in the Pan-American military pistol competitions in 1968 and established himself as an expert marksman. In the same time frame, while stationed in Japan, he began taking flying lessons and became a pilot. After his service as an Air Policeman, he studied Russian at the University of Syracuse. The remainder of his military career was as a Russian linguist. 
After his retirement in 1973, he commenced his second career in aviation. He became an instructor pilot and a commercial pilot. Later becoming the corporate pilot for Webb Stokes and Sparks as well as Town Country Corporations with Steve Stephens and with Rio Airlines.
His greatest passion was teaching. He was a life long learner and loved sharing his knowledge with friends and family. He became a C.H.L Instructor and had the privilege of teaching several years including teaching his daughters, granddaughters, and even a great grandson. 
He loved sailing with his family in Turkey, Japan, and in San Angelo lakes (back when our lakes were full of water).
He will be deeply missed by his family and those who had the privilege to know him. We are comforted knowing that he is with his beloved Lord and Savior Jesus Christ holding hands with his bride Patti.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society.

Kelly Lynn Hescht Wyatt

Kelly Lynn Hescht Wyatt, 53, of Mereta went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 19, 2016 in San Angelo. Kelly Lynn was born January 26, 1963 in Sylvania, Ohio to Roger and Bette Peart Beaty. She grew up in Ohio and after graduating from high school went to work for Kirkland’s corporation. Kelly quickly moved her way up to District Manager and eventually managed five states. Some years later, she found her way to San Angelo, and most recently worked for Around the Clock Day Care as a caregiver and teacher to the children. She loved working with the children and enjoyed every minute she was there. She met and later married Cecil Franklin Wyatt on July 26, 2016. Kelly was also a loving homemaker and business manager for her husband’s company. Kelly had many interests in life. She loved collecting cowboy memorabilia and everything cowboy and cowgirl themed. She also raised prize chickens or “Silkies” for show at carnivals and livestock shows. Kelly was a beautiful soul with a beautiful heart. Her passion for life, her strong faith in God and her unlimited perseverance made her the incredible person she was. We will carry her love and spirit in our hearts forever! Kelly was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband Cecil Franklin Wyatt, of Mereta; her daughter Krista Mora and her husband Bobby, of Lubbock; her grandchildren, Aidan Mora and Anna Mora, of Lubbock; her Mother-in-law, Frances Wyatt, of San Angelo; her Brothers, Roger, Ralph and Randy; and her church family and countless friends. The Memorial Service will be 3:00 P.M., Sunday, September 25, 2016 at Harper Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. JJ Lopez officiating. Kelly Lynn was a member of the Military Veterans Peer Network and a strong supporter of all United States Veterans. The family is requesting that donations be made to the Military Veterans Peer Network or a local Veterans Group of your choice.

Peter V. Gregg

Peter Vincent Gregg, 69, of San Angelo, went to walk the streets of gold with his Lord and Savior on Thursday September 22, 2016 in San Angelo. 

He was born on September 30, 1946 to Eudis and Caroline (Carson) Gregg in Ft. Walton Beach, FL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Paul Gregg.

Peter is survived by his loving spouse of 34 years, Gloria, his daughters; Amanda Gregg and Rosie Gregg, Paula (Brad) Baker, Theresa Gregg, Cecilia Gregg, son, Christopher 
(Bethany) Gregg, two special grandsons, Reagan Peter Gregg, Riley Paul Gregg, and grandchildren, Brianna Gregg, Jake Zarate, Jackson and Jillian Baker, Ariana Gregg and Elia Gregg.

Peter loved the Lord with all his heart and spent his life serving the Lord and serving others. To know Peter was to love him. He never met a stranger. He shared his warm hugs and words with everyone. His six favorite words were “I Love You” and “God Bless You”. Peter spent time serving in the Peace Corps (1969 – 1971) in Bolivia. He lived in various places internationally with his parents who were officers in the Air Force and Women’s Army Corp. 

Peter loved his job as a medical social worker. He cared deeply for all his patients and colleagues and always went above and beyond the call of duty for them. 

Peter served as a deacon at Glen Meadows Baptist Church. His love and joy came from serving the Lord and others. The love of Christ shined from Peter’s heart and poured out to all those he knew and loved. He really was a ray of Sonshine.

Peter married the love of his life, Gloria on December 8, 1982. They were absolute best friends and did everything together. No greater love existed than theirs. They had two daughters, Amanda and Rosie, who Peter always referred to as his angels. They were his pride and joy. 

Peter’s happiness multiplied when his grandsons were born. Reagan Peter Gregg and Riley Paul Gregg were the apples of his eye. Peter left a phenomenal legacy of love, compassion, discipleship and service for his daughters and grandchildren; a legacy they will continue in love and honor of their precious Daddy and Pa.

Pallbearers will be Richard Blake, Tony Avalos, Tom Houston, Martin Medrano, Gary Cox, and Chris Henorema.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Glen Meadows Baptist Church deacons.

Visitation will be held Monday, September 26, 2016, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday, September 27, 2016, at Glen Meadows Baptist Church with Mack Roller, pastor of Glen Meadows Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Robert Massie funeral home.
