Marjorie Nell Burch

Marjorie Nell Burch, 82, passed away Sunday, April 15, 2018.
Marjorie was born to John and Meda Thorn on January 26, 1936 in Menard, Texas. She grew up in Menard and graduated from Menard High School in 1953. The day after graduation Marjorie married the love of her life Mack Burch on May 27, 1953. Margorie lived her life for Christ always looking for opportunities to share her love with others. She always lived life to the fullest and never met a stranger.
Mrs. Burch is preceded in death by her husband Mack Burch, her parents, and her siblings Blanton Thorn, Martha “BB” Holloway, and Daryl Thorn.
Marjorie is survived by her five children Debra Burch, Mack Burch Jr., Maureen Hickenbottom, Patricia Dearman, Jenna Stacy; eight grandchildren, Kyle C Vogt, Justin Burch, Bobby Vogt, Jennifer Corner, Wendy Dominguez, Brandi Beaulieu, James Stacy, Amanda Phillips; ten great-grandchildren Fernando Vogt, Andrew Vogt, Aaron Vogt, Derric Burch, Michael James Corner Jr., Alexandra Corner, Harley May Stacy, Hannah Dominguez, Kaylee Stephens, Audry Reese; one sister Victoria Preidecker.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Southgate Church of Christ Mission Fund.
A funeral service will be held at Southgate Church of Christ on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at 10:00 AM burial will follow at Junction Cemetery at 2:00 PM.

Billye Louise (Blackburn) Mayer

Billye Louise (Blackburn) Mayer, 96, of San Angelo died Wednesday April 11, 2018 after a short illness. She was born on March 30, 1922, the daughter of Joe and Thelma Blackburn and sister to J. B. Blackburn of Seymour, Texas, who predeceased her.
On October 29, 1949, she married Edwin S. Mayer, Jr. in Sonora, Texas and together, they raised two sons. Billye was a devoted, loving spouse and mother who was proud of her family and home. She also loved fine antiques and couture fashions, especially if she thought she was getting a bargain. She and Ed spent many wonderful summers at their home in Alto, NM, enjoying horse racing from their table in the Ruidoso Jockey Club. Their New Mexico friends will recall that they almost never missed a social event or a good party.
Billye is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Edwin S. Mayer, Jr.; her sons, Stephen Mayer (Jody) and Ernest Mayer (Annette) of San Angelo; six grandchildren, Megan Mayer Belew (Bill) of Wingate, Garrett Mayer of Dallas, David Mayer (Sarah) of Midland, Braden Mayer (Stephanie) of Denver, CO, George Mayer (Katie) of Houston and Edwin Mayer of Nashville, TN; and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by T. J. Meyer, Brea Burke and Jamin Burke of San Angelo, Shelley Meyer Sonnonstine of Ft. Worth and Lacey Meyer Marlow of St. Helena, CA.
The family wishes to thank Rosa Aguero, Silvia Sanchez, Anna Garza, Marta Rose, Miranda Castillo and Bonnie Reyes who have lovingly cared for Billye and Ed for the past several years. Billye was also very close to her former caregiver, Norma Banda.
The family is receiving visitors at 2303 Douglas Drive and a brief, informal visitation will be held on Tuesday April 17, 2018 beginning at 2:00 PM in the River Room at San Angelo Country Club. No services are planned. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.

Glenn Coulson Cunningham

Glenn Coulson Cunningham 94, went to be with our Lord and Savior April 12, 2018. 
He was preceded in death by his parents Dick and Bessie Cunningham, his loving wife Lois; sisters Vena Benes and Carolyn Jewell.
Glenn was born on July 9, 1923 in Miles, Texas to Dick and Bessie Cunningham. Glenn attended Miles high school and was very active in sports; until he enlisted in the armed forces. Glenn was a proud veteran of WWII. He served with the 783rd bomb Squadron as a gunner and later becoming a mechanic and engineer for the B24 bombers. When Glenn returned from the war he worked as a locksmith and safe cracker. He and his father owned and operate Dix Key Shop until he retired in 1989. He was a member and past president of the Business Men’s Bible Class and a lifetime member and past commander for the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars. He was active in many other organizations with his wife. He loved to fish, sing, and play guitar; especially with the band at the VFW. He and his wife loved to go dancing and visit with friends. His passion after retiring was hand painting all of his Christmas cards and writing books about his life. He will be remembered as a loving father, husband and friend. Glenn always had a great story to tell and he never met a stranger. He was the life of the party, a true character, and the most generous man around.
He is survived by his daughters Linda Sears and Sharon King. A grandson Cody Sears and many granddaughters Stacy Vaughn, Leslie King, Gretchen Clayson, Jennifer Myers, Amanda Sears, and many beautiful great grandchildren. Also, the son he always wanted, David Staha. 
Visitation will be Monday April 16, 2018 at Harper Funeral Home from 6-8 and graveside will be at Miles cemetery April 17th at 11am.
All that knew him know we lost a special man and he will be at peace with many friends and loved ones in heaven.

Martin (Marty) Kahn

Martin (Marty) Kahn of San Angelo was greeted in Heaven by Yvonne his wife of 65 years on April 11, 2018.
Marty was born in Teaneck, New Jersey on April 15, 1930 to Norman and Viola Kahn. He married Yvonne Fowler on January 11th, 1952 in Ballinger, TX. Marty served in the US Airforce and he also retired from Ethicon, Marty was a Mason since 1952; current Lodge Phil Head Lodge #1415 Carlsbad, TX. Marty was a member and Trustee of Berean Baptist Church of Grape Creek, TX, He enjoyed airplanes and fishing.
He was proceeded in death by his wife, Parents, In-Laws William and Jimmy Maude Fowler, Alvin and Jenell Sturgill, Billy and Wanda Fowler, Jim Sturgill and Martha Fowler.
He is survived by his step mother Dorothy Kahn, Nephews Gary and Danny Sturgill, Niece Donna Davis and 10 great nieces and their families.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to your favorite charity.
A funeral service will be held at Harper Funeral Home at 10:00 AM, Saturday April 14, 2018 with a Masonic graveside to follow at Fairmount Cemetery.

Welch Tonie Louise (Day)

Tonie Louise (Day) Welch, age 71, of San Angelo, Texas passed away on Saturday April 7, 2018.

Tonie was born February 18, 1947 in Electra, Texas to Mildred Day and Hurchel Day. Tonie graduated from Central High School and received a Bachelor of Arts in History from Angelo State University. Tonie chose a career in education for San Angelo ISD working as a Special Education Teacher Assistant. She was married to Gerald Lee Welch on April 28, 1973, they spent many happy years together before his passing in 1989.

Tonie is survived by; son Jerry Welch; and daughter Leslie Maynard; sister Nyoka Gillet; granddaughters Kylie Maynard and Holly Gibbs. She also leaves to cherish her memories numerous nieces and nephews and other family members Tonie was preceded in death by her husband Gerald Welch; father Hurchel Day and mother Mildred Day.

A visitation for Tonie will be held on Friday, April 13, 2018 at Johnson's Funeral Home from 6-8 pm with a graveside service following on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Johnson's Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens, 4989 FM Highway 1223, San Angelo, Texas 76905. Contributions in Tonie's memory may be made to American Transplant Foundation, 600 17th Street, Suite 2515S, Denver, Colorado, 80202 or to a charity of your choice.

Felix Sanchez, Sr. 62, died Monday, April 9, 2018A Rosary will be held 7:00pm, Friday, April 13, 2018 at Harper Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be 10:00am, Saturday, April 14th at St. Margaret of Cortona in Big Lake with burial to follow at Glen Rest Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife Rosa E. Sanchez, sons Felix Morris Sanchez, Jr. and Felix Maynard Sanchez, siblings Fabian Sanchez, Jr., Fernando Sanchez, Idolina Garcia, Anita Guajardo, Julie Loera, and Yolanda Alvarado.

Elizabeth Alvarado, 85, of San Angelo, Texas passed away on April 8, 2018. She was born on July 4, 1932 to Antonio and Petra Gonzales in Charco, Texas.
She married Alberto Alvarado, Sr. on January 21, 1956. She was a homemaker and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alberto, and her parents.
She is survived by her children: Juanita (Toribio) Arroyo, Albert, Jr. (Sylvia) Alvarado, Bea Alvarado, and Elvira (Blue). Grandchildren: Toby Arroyo, Michelle Malone, Misty Alvarado, Jessica Hernandez, Randy Alvarado, Robert Bejil, and Sabrina Bejil. Great-Grandchildren: Ryan Arroyo, Ethan Hernandez, Ava Malone, Penny Bejil, Mason Malone, and Lillie Hernandez. Sisters: Tomasa Huerta and Olivia Resendiz. Brothers: Adam Gonzales and Edward Gonzales, along with several nieces and nephews.
A Visitation will be at Harper Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 11, 2018, from 6:00pm-8:00pm. Services will be 1:30pm, Thursday, April 12, 2018, at Harper with interment at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.

Carolina G. Gallegos, 96, died peacefully on April 07, 2018, with family by her side. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved sewing and crocheting, cooking, gardening, but most of all her husband, children, and grandchildren. Carolina was born January 09, 1922, to Jose and Ignacia Gonzales in San Angelo, Texas. Visitation is from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday April 12, at Johnson's Funeral Home Chapel, 435 W. Beauregard, San Angelo, Texas 76903. A Rosary will be said at 7:00 pm Thursday in Johnson's Funeral Home Chapel, following the visitation. Carolina's funeral Mass will be said at 10:00 a.m. Friday April 13, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 9 West Avenue N, San Angelo, Texas 76903. Following the funeral mass, the Burial will be held at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens, 4989 FM Highway 1223, San Angelo, Texas 76905. Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson's Funeral home. Carolina is survived by her children Grace Settell and Ruben Gallegos, of San Ang lo, TX; Danny Gallegos of Phoenix, AZ; Jose Varela of Sacramento, CA; James Gallegos, and Viv Bailey. Carolina was preceded in death by loving husband Roberto O. Gallegos, son Robert A. Gallegos; nephew Gregory Attila Szatmari; her brother Juan Arambula, and sister Juanita Hernandez, and many other loving family members. As a young woman Carolina worked as a farm laborer in various parts of the country including Texas, Colorado, Califo nia, Wisconsin, Wyoming, ,Idaho, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas, North Carolina, North and South Dakota, Illinois and Iowa. She also worked as an aide for Shannon Hospital, in San Angelo, Texas. After World War II Carolina married her special friend Roberto Gallegos, in 1948 in Sonora, Texas. They had a blissful marriage for 62 years, living in Texas and California. While in Sacramento, CA, she worked for the Sacramento Unified School District, first as an instructional aide at Maple Elementary school, and then as a teacher's aide and translator at Fremont School for adults (Parent and Preschool Education). While working as a teacher's aide Carolina received many citations for Outstanding Service. Carolina is also survived by 12 Grandchildren; 19 Great-Grandchildren;9 Great-Great-Grandchildren. Grandchildren: Gina Parks of Carmichael, CA; Genelle Mendza of Ozona, TX; Marci Gallegos of Las Vegas, NV; Jayna Casanova of Phoenix, AZ; Anthony Andreotti of Santa Rosa, CA; Jon Andreotti of Englewood, CO; Kimberlee Harwood of Sacramento, CA; Jared Gallegos, Carolina Varela, Josh Gallegos, and Kristen Andreotti. Great-Grandchildren: Greg A. Szatmari Jr., Natalie Hurtado, Eddie Romo, Lleland Mendoza, Adrian McClintock, Ashley McClintock, Aliyah Choyke, Amiya Johnson; McKyla, Devin, Tai, Jayna Jr, Keaonie, Alexis, Roberto, Timoteo, Eliseo, Ismael, Carolina, Miguel, Jasmine. Great-Great-Grandchildren: Daniela, Vincent, Isaiah, Adrian Jr., Gianna, Blake, Eliseo Jr., Ana and Giovanni. She is also survived by her sister Margarita Langford, and niece Mary Gonzales, of San Angelo, TX; Mary Grove of El Paso TX; Niece and Nephews: Otilia Daniel of Refugio, TX; Mercedes Ornelas of San Angelo, TX; Chele Moteavaro of Estancia, NM; Eva and Ismael Perez of Thornton, CO; Beto Hernandez of San Angelo, TX; Elizabeth and Larry Bley, and Kerry Hocker of Union City, CA; Rosa De Lima Oseguera, Ramon and Anita of Hamilton City, CA; Nina Gehring of Chico, CA; Jose Luis Gallegos of Paradise, CA; Special friend Elizabeth Tafoya of San Angelo, TX; Celia Cardenas of Stockton, CA. She is also survived by many, many, loving nieces and nephews, and other family members and friends in Hamilton City, and Paradise, CA, and numerous cities in Texas, Arizona, Nevada and Wyoming. The family wishes to gratefully acknowledge the Shannon Clinic and especially Drs. Grant Taylor, Stephen W. Coates, David A. Cummings, Elisa K. Brantly, Wael Richeh, Matthew A. Goldman, and Gary Nussey. The family is thankful for all gestures of kindness, calls and extended friendships. The family would also like to thank Carolina's neighbors for all their help and thoughtfulness.
